FREE ESSENTIAL OILS 101 CLASS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 AT 2 P.M.

Hi Everyone,

It has been awhile since you have heard from me, but things have been happening, and my heart really spoke out to me to do another class. Because someone requested I do a daytime class on a Tuesday I decided to go ahead and invite all to see if anyone of you could join us for this impromptu class coming up on Tuesday, September 9 at 2 p.m. here at The Mansion House, 2121 So Sterling Avenue in Independence, MO 64052

I know some of you have been hearing a lot about essential oils from me or others, but have not gotten around to finding out what all the fuss is about. Want to experience a higher quality of life without living in a fog of over the counter medications that numb you, but don't address the root?

This class will show you how you can replace your medic
ine cabinet drugs with these wonderfully Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.

This is not a party, there will be no catalogs or order forms, but you will indeed experience the fragrance of these oils as you are learning about them.

Come to the 21st Street entrance of The Mansion House where the columns are, and walk right in through the double green doors.

I Love to Tell the Story - the Fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Here are some shared resources that point to Jesus Christ's church--for use following the 2014 summer study series at OGRB, as inspired by the cottage meetings in The Quiet Miracle (1960's by Jo Montgomery) and the evening meetings under the trees in The Call at Evening (1920's by Jessie Ward). The scripture and testimony references are taken directly from both books!

You can have your own index card file filled with scriptures and testimonies pointing to Jesus Christ's church.
Click on the attached two PDF(s), print, cut out and paste onto 3X5 index cards (self-tab with highlighted headings), merge both sets in numeric order and place in file card box for your own set of resources--grow your own personal knowledge and/or share our unique beliefs with others.

You can have your own electronic file of scriptures and testimonies pointing to Jesus Christ's church.

Click this link: http://ogrb.org/Resources.html It takes you to the Oak Grove Restoration Branch website Resource page.
Find the three numbered PDF files under "2014 Summer Study Series."
This will work for those that prefer an electronic (paperless) file, open and save the PDF slideshow(s) to your phone, I-pad or laptop for complete slideshows that can be used for your convenience in learning/reviewing our basic beliefs, as well as to witness to others anytime day or night.

Click on this video "We Believe" and witness an inspiring "starting point" we have with other Christians, especially youth and young adults: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtPmX7e_Rpw (This is a YouTube video with some advertising; there are programs available such as "Free YouTube Downloader" if you wish to avoid the ads and/or don't have internet access when witnessing.)

2&1/2 YEAR OLD LAKOTA GIRL HAS SERIOUS PNEUMONIA /FAMILY NEEDS HELP!

From: Sharon Sun Eagle

WINGAPO BROTHERS AND SISTERS,

WE HAVE A LITTLE 2&1/2 OLD BABY GIRL WHO WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL TODAY WITH SERIOUS PNUEMONIA. SHE IS THE TWIN THAT HAD SERIOUS LUNG PROBLEMS IN THE PAST YEARS.

THEY WERE GOING TO ADMIT HER INTO THE HOSPITAL BUT THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR HER.

THEY GAVE HER SOME MEDS/NEBULIZOR BUT SHE IS NOT DOING AS GOOD AS WE HOPED.

TOMORROW HER PARENTS WILL TAKE HER BACK TO THE HOSPITAL WITH HER SISTER WHO MIGHT HAVE PNEUMONIA ALSO.

THEY NEED SOME HELP WITH GAS AND MONEY FOR FOOD WHILE THEY ARE AT THE HOSPITAL.

THE MOTHER CALLED ME TODAY FROM THE HOSPITAL AND THEY HAD NO FOOD. THEY WERE THERE FOR HOURS WITHOUT SOMETHING TO EAT.
TOMORROW WE HOPE THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN AND THEY WILL PROBABLY ADMIT BOTH THE DAUGHTERS.

ANY HELP WILL BE A BLESSING

Items for sale

I need to sell the following items, which are located in Independence, as soon as possible:

A Baldwin organ in very nice, working condition. I would like to see it go to a Restoration Branch that is in need of one but I'll sell to an individual also. Asking $200.00.

An old, solid oak, double pedestal, teacher's desk and chair. The insides of the drawers have a lot of ink and other stains from years of service but they can be covered with drawer liners. It is very heavy and sturdy. It has a separate glass top. I'm guessing it's about 30" x 50 or 60". Asking $35.00.

Ping pong table on wheels, with playback position. Includes net, paddles, & balls. Asking $25.00.(Would be great for a church that has a youth room for use by the youth.)

A very nice dark, cherry entertainment center that is about 48-60" wide x 72" high. Asking $35.00

Assorted handicap items (wheel chair, commode, canes, shower chair, and more). Make offer.

A nice, heavy, round, single pedestal, cafe table - no chairs. Asking $15.00.

An old 1970's kitchen table. Brown Formica-type top with wide gold metal edge, metal legs. Asking $10.00.

Please contact Cindy at deselms12@aol.com or 816-632-4776. I will consider all reasonable offers on all items.

I have approximately 130, 2000 pound, concrete, retaining wall blocks for sale. Cost, if payment made now, for pick up in January, (maybe sooner) is $25 per block. If not sold in the next week or so I will put them on Craig’s list at $50 per block which is market price. Update on Clayton Foss - August 25

Hello Everybody,

It's been a long time between updates. Sometimes it is hard to know what to say when day to day the progress seems so slow, but as we look back we can see that there is more muscle movement. It is just in such tiny increments that it isn't always easy to recognize. The good news is that he is having a lot of nerves trying to repair themselves, the bad news is that it is very painful. He feels like his legs are on fire all the way to the toes even though he can't feel on the outside past his knees and then he has twinges that make his muscles jump that are like an electrical shock. The solutions seems to be a nerve blocker, which has side effects that aren't very good. So then we have to weigh the pain versus the side effects. We are hoping that a low dose will ease the pain enough to allow him to sleep and minimize the side effects. We are told that it won't slow down the regeneration process. Not sure that really sounds logical, and I don't think that they can really tell that. I am assuming that the nerves regenerate in spite of the medication, but that it could make it take longer. He also has a little more feeling towards the back of the hips and thighs. We are looking forward when he can tell he is sitting down. His balance has improved considerably in spite of not being able to feel and so that much more feeling would be fabulous. We are grateful for every new change and most of all for the prayers and support of all of you. He is still very upbeat in spite of the pain. I'm not sure I was as easy on my family when I was struggling to breathe. I know I got grumpy. I see very little of that in him. He has made caring for him as easy on me as he can. I'm getting a little more rest and that makes it easier for me too. Thank you once again for all of your prayers. Know that they are working.

Love, Glenda

Exploring Christ’s Church Seminar

Featured Speakers:
Tom Nunn & Lynn Ridenhour

The Remnant Church
Fellowship Hall
Highway 291, Independence, MO

Sept.25th, 26th, 27th

(Thursday 7 PM)
(Friday 7 PM)
(Saturday 9 AM)

LYNN RIDENHOUR, Baptist minister, examines what makes the restoration gospel unique and different from the gospel of Protestantism. “I am greatly intrigued by the resurgence these past few years among Protestants who are interested in Christian Primitivism, that phenomenon which emerged from the 19th century American Restoration Movement,” says Dr. Ridenhour. “Why are Protestants becoming alarmingly interested in the restoration gospel?”

A Pew Forum Study, says Lynn, conducted in 2011 concluded there are currently over 300 million Protestant Christians worldwide who embrace a form of Christian Primitivism. Dr. Ridenhour examines…Why?

TOM NUNN asks: What is the purpose of the Book of Mormon in the Restoration? What is the place of the Restoration in the larger Christian community? Did the LORD need just another Christian denomination? To quote Lloyd Hurshman, “The purpose of the Restoration was originally, and in my view continues to be, corrective within the wider Christian community.”

Vanilla Ice Cream defies evolution!

Vanilla Ice Cream defies evolution!

This will make you appreciate vanilla ice cream more!!!!

Nearly everyone has enjoyed a yummy bowl of vanilla ice cream. It is a wonderfully delicious desert. However, vanilla ice cream wouldn't even exist if evolution were true.

Let's start out with a little history. Until more recent times, Mexico was the only producer of vanilla. In the 1520s, a man by the name of Hernan Cortes traveled down to Mexico and loved vanilla. So, he brought some back with him to Europe. For the next 300 years, the Europeans tried but were never able to produce vanilla.

See, vanilla grows up a tree as a vine. Eventually the vine produces an orchid. In order to make the vanilla bean, the orchid must be pollinated. The problem is, it only blooms one morning per year for pollination. If it isn't pollinated within 12 hours, it withers. To make things more difficult, a hood like membrane covers the part of the vanilla orchid which produces pollen. This makes the production of the vanilla bean very difficult.

In 1836, Charles Francois Antoine Morren traveled down to Mexico to figure out why they weren't able to produce vanilla beans in Europe. As Morren was studying the vanilla orchids, his attention was drawn to a little bee (the Mexican Melipona Bee). This bee landed on the orchid, lifted up the little hood like membrane, collected pollen, and then flew off to the next flower. This bee was pollinating the orchids. After some time, the orchid produced a vanilla bean.

To this day, the Mexican Melipona Bee is the only insect that knows how to pollinate the vanilla orchid. This simple fact puts evolution in an extremely difficult position. Without the Mexican Melipona Bee, we simply would not have vanilla today . The bee and the vanilla vine had to be made at the exact same time. Not to mention, this bee had to be given specific information about how to pollinate the vanilla orchid. Again, no other insect knows how to do this. This bee had to be made, designed, and purposefully created to pollinate the vanilla orchid, and thus, produce vanilla.

So much of our world points to the Creator. As silly as it sounds, even vanilla ice cream proclaims the glory of God. So, the next time you sit down to enjoy a full bowl of vanilla ice cream, remember that you are enjoying a tasty treat which is only possible through the power of God!

Thank you for all your prayers

Hi Garland,

I wanted to say thank you to everyone that has been praying for Dave and me. We are going through a personal crisis and we do know that Satan is entirely behind this. Things are rough, especially since we are so far away from Independence. We have had many trials, as we know others have, this is by far the most hurtful.

Please keep us in your prayers. Only with God's grace will we make it through this.

God Bless all and may our Lord return soon.

Pat Robertson and Creationism

From: MELODY NELSON
beyedoers@prtel.com

Having recently heard Pat Robertson once again declare his thoughts on the age of the earth and his support for “theistic evolution,” I contacted the Institute for Creation Research (I have considerable respect for the work of its 8 staff doctorates and other contributing creation scientists) and asked for their thoughts on Robertson’s oft-stated position. They sent me the two below links. Beginning in the 1960’s, public schools have widely taught the secularist view of the origin of species – evolution over billions of years – as scientific fact, though this view remains an unproven THEORY. For anyone interested in the connection between this element of public education and the increase in our young people’s quitting Church for good, I highly recommend the book, ALREADY GONE, by Ken Ham, et al, available at Amazon.com. I cannot say how often I’ve heard pastors and church members of various denominations lament the loss of new-generation congregants and the futility of their sundry attempts to “meet our young people where they are.” Seems to me that declining church attendance might best be remedied by a return to the pure, simple Gospel of Jesus Christ and God’s own story of how His magnificent world came to be.

Essential oils are the oldest and some of the most powerful therapeutic agents known to man. Essential oils were valued as much as gold, hence the reason the wise men brought Jesus gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (Frankincense and Myrrh are essential oils.)

Young Living (the company that provides these little treasures) is the world leader in cultivation, distillation, and production of pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils. Essential oils are natural antiseptics and are used to treat ailments of all kinds ranging from allergies, depression, sleeplessness, pain, rashes- the list goes on and on. We have several “recipes” of oils you can combine together (one is called a morphine bomb! Pain relief, anyone?) as well as oil combinations Young Living has already done for you such as Brain Power, Peace and Calming, and Common Sense to name a few. There’s even a Christmas Spirit one!

We will teach you even more about how the oils can help you. This is just a class- come and learn about it! Come and smell, touch, taste and see if you like them. There is no pressure, no booklets, no order forms. You are invited because someone thought of you when they learned about the healing possibilities and just simply want to share. Feel free to bring a friend or family member along, just message who invited you and let them know so we can make sure to have enough class materials.

Prayers for Daniel Alcorn

Prayers for Daniel Alcorn

Would appreciate prayers for Daniel Alcorn. He is possibly having surgery tomorrow (Friday, August 8) that is potentially risky for his health and long term mobility. We are praying that God will close doors for him if he is not to have the surgery at this time and wisdom for those making the decisions.

Thank you for the prayers!

The Book, JOSEPH SMITH FOUGHT POLYGAMY

For anyone interested, the Amazon.com Customer Reviews debate over the book, Joseph Smith Fought Polygamy, continues via the COMMENTS section for each of the Reviews:

Sadly, the C of C leadership some time ago joined the trashers of Joseph Smith, Jr., referencing on their web site and elsewhere the "scholarly" research of Church history revisionists and promoting the non-provable claim that Joseph taught and practiced polygamy:

"Community of Christ takes into account the growing body of scholarly research and publications depicting the polygamous teachings and practices of the Nauvoo period of church history (1840–1846). The context of these developments included a time of religious and cultural experimentation in the United States and the emergence of a system of secret temple ordinances in Nauvoo that accented the primacy of family connections, in this life and the next. The practice of plural marriage emerged from that context and involved a small group of key leaders entering into polygamous marriage rituals and covenants. Research findings point to Joseph Smith Jr. as a significant source for plural marriage teaching and practice at Nauvoo."

The quotation from the CofC website is not completely in context. What is included in the email lends to a belief that the church has completely accepted Joseph Smith Jr.'s influence in the matter of polygamy. What is left out of the quote is the very next sentence which qualifies the statement that was just made. The entirety of the paragraph reads thus

Research findings point to Joseph Smith Jr. as a significant source for plural marriage teaching and practice at Nauvoo. However, several of his associates later wrote that he repudiated the plural marriage system and began to try to stop its practice shortly before his death in June 1844."

I do not defend an institution, but I strongly defend the truth and believe that we need to respect how we portray one another.

Sincerely,
David B. Brown
