Kenneth E. Goehner - Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" E. Goehner, 82, of Independence, MO, went home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Ken was born on August 27, 1934, in Ellendale, ND, to John F. and Tillie Goehner. In the spring of 1935, Ken's family moved to Dryden, WA, where they eventually owned and operated an apple/pear orchard. Ken graduated from Dryden High School in 1952 and then attended J.M. Perry Technical Institute, where he studied Electronics Communications. In 1957, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served until 1960, as a Radar Operator/Technician in Port Townsend, WA. In 1959, he married Janet Hurd in Wenatchee, WA, where they made their home. In 1960, he went to work for Central Communications, where he later became part-owner and worked for 27 years. In 1987, the family moved to Independence, MO, where Ken worked at Clark's Tool in Blue Springs, MO. Ken faithfully served as an Elder in the Glendale Restoration Branch church until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, of the home; daughters, Deanna (Rick) Reynolds and Susan (Ben) Tate, both of Independence; four grandchildren, Robert (Melannie) Reynolds of Blue Springs, MO, Jeff (Jessica) Reynolds of Greenwood, MO, Linley Tate (and fiance', Dakota Ioanis) of Wellington, MO, and Justin Tate of Independence, MO; four great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Alma Radach of Wenatchee, WA, and Marie Goehner of Dryden, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a son.

A private family burial was held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Mound Grove Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Glendale Restoration Branch, 17803 E. Susquehanna Ridge, Independence, MO 64056. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions, in his name, may be made to: Restoration Bookstore (Price Publishing Company), 915 E. 23rd Street S., Independence, MO 64055.
