Kathleen Apley Obituary




Kathleen Joy Apley, 64, passed away on February 15th, 2017 at North Care Hospice House after a decade long struggle with COPD.

Kathy was born and raised in Shawnee Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Joyce Bailey. She graduated from Shawnee Mission West in the spring of 1970. She married her husband of 38 years Theodore Apley on July 7th 1979. She worked as a lunch lady for several years for the Independence School District. Mrs. Apley Senior retired from Independence Academy where she had worked as a Para Professional.

She belonged to the Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed camping, quilting, sewing, crafting, being a mom and wife, and most important being a grandma. She will be remembered for her, acceptance, love, faith, funny smile, laugh, adventurous spirit, and her stubbornness. If she didn’t want to do it didn’t get done.

Kathy is survived by husband Theodore Apley, Son Khristopher and wife Debbie Apley, daughters Katrina Apley and Rossana Fau, grandchild Benjamin Apley, brothers Jim and wife Becky Bailey, Bruce and wife Caroline Bailey, sister-n-law Beverly Meremonte, several nieces and nephews, and her sewing circle. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Joyce Bailey, Sister Marsha Bailey, and grandchildren Malachi Apley and Layla Owens.

The Celebration of Life will be held on February 20th 2017 at 7pm at Summit Groove Community of Christ Church, 411 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64050. The visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until the time of the service.

Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to Theodore Apley for her grandson Benjamin Apley’s college education.

She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
