Although America is not mentioned by name in the Scriptures, the descriptions of Joseph’s land in the patriarchal blessings of Jacob and Moses describe a land resembling America, the beautiful. Jacob pronounced a blessing upon the head of Joseph: his favorite son. “Joseph is a fruitful bough [of the family tree], even a fruitful bough by a well whose branches run over the wall [a barrier like an ocean]. But his bow [weapons of warfare] abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the mighty God of Jacob [God has blessed America ‘land that we love’]. Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above [rain in due season], blessings of the deep that lieth under [soils rich in fertility; coal, oil and ore], blessings of the breasts and womb [healthy children]. The blessings of thy father have prevailed above [greater than] the blessings of my progenitors [ancestors] unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills [the Rockies and Andes Mountains, extending from the Arctic to Antarctica]; they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separated from his brethren” [in his own land—America] (Genesis 49:22-26).
Before the Israelites entered their promised land, Moses blessed the tribes of Israel: “And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the Lord be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath, and for the precious fruits [the fruited plains] put forth by the sun . . . And for the precious things of the lasting hills, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush [the great I AM, who Moses encountered at the burning bush near Sinai]; let the blessings come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren . . .” (Deuteronomy 33:13-17).
The prophets of Israel who were guided to the Western Hemisphere by the hand of the Lord were of the lineage if Joseph. These men of God wrote, “And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet [about 600 BC] from the knowledge of other nations. For, behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance’ [For many centuries the USA remained isolated, protected and hidden between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans] (2 Nephi 1:16-17).
In God’s precise timing, “the Spirit of God wrought upon a man [among the Gentiles]; and he [Columbus] went forth upon many waters, even to the seed of my brethren, who were in the promised land” [America] (1 Nephi 3:147-161). Lehi also prophesied that “there shall none come into this land [USA], save they shall be led by the hand of the Lord. Wherefore this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them. Wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity: if so, it shall be because of iniquity. But unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever. Wherefore, I Lehi, have obtained a promise, that inasmuch as those whom the Lord God shall bring out of the land of Jerusalem [and elsewhere] shall keep his commandments, they shall prosper upon the face of this land. And they shall be kept from all other nations . . . And they shall dwell safely forever” (2 Nephi 1:10-21).

The Lord’s Immigration Policy
According to the Scriptures, “God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34) and “all are
alike unto him” (2 Nephi 11:115), but it is written, “And [God] hath made of one blood all nations of
men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and
the bounds [borders] of their habitation” (Acts 17:26).
Many in our nation have adopted the globalist view of our world; a borderless world has become their agenda. Like the globalists, it is God’s will to have a one-world government, with all nations living in harmony and peace under the leadership of Jesus Christ, whose right it is to reign. “And the government shall be upon his shoulder . . . Of the increase of his government and peace there is no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6-7).
Those who are presently promoting a world without borders are running ahead of the Lord. The Lord’s literal, everlasting kingdom will indeed come upon the earth, but it will be established in his own time, will and way.
Tolerance and diversity are being promoted by many of those who embrace the globalist vision, yet “God
cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance” (D & C 1:5f). Nor does he approve of those who worship other Gods: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3).
God has provided two chosen lands for the sons of Jacob: Judah and Joseph. These lands of promise—Israel and the USA—are becoming burdensome stones. They are targeted for extinction, being called the “little Satan” and “big Satan.” Zechariah prophesied: “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people; all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” (Zechariah 12:3). In Israel the issue is with the Palestinians. In the USA it is the Syrian refugee crisis.
When the Israelites arrived at their promised land they were instructed to “make no covenant with them [the former inhabitants of the land], nor show any mercy unto them; Neither shalt thou make marriages with them, thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. For they will turn away the son from following me, that they may serve other gods; so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. But thus shall ye deal with them; thou shalt destroy their altars . . . and burn their graven images. For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God; the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people upon the face of the earth” (Deuteronomy 7:1-7). God is not in favor of his people fraternizing with those who worship alien gods. God’s plan for America is revealed in The Book of Mormon. It, too, is a land of promise. Nephi, a descendant of Joseph, wrote: “”And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me saying, Blessed art thou, Nephi, because of thy faith, for thou hast sought me diligently, with lowliness of heart. And
inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandment ye shall prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise . . . yea, even a land which is choice above all other lands” (1 Nephi 1:53-54).
The inhabitants of our “sweet land of liberty,” and those who live in Israel, are called to be an ensign to the nations; (see Isaiah 2:2-4). This land [USA] was “preserved for a righteous people . . . and whatever nation shall possess it, shall be free from bondage . . . if they will but serve the God of the land who is Jesus Christ” (Ether 1:29-35).
Lehi, the father of Nephi, also prophesied of our land, “That there shall none come into this land, save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord.” This is the Lord’s immigration policy.
