The Greatest Gift of All!

Dear Saints and Friends,

Sunday, April 16, 2017 represents the greatest day in the history of mankind. The day that we observe the fact that Jesus Christ, was God's greatest gift and that He died for our sins, and rose from the dead to show that He had all power both in heaven and on earth. He conquered sin, death, the grave, and Satan. He truly is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and all the other names given that describe His Greatness.

Unfortunately, on this day, and every other day of the year, most people of the world will pay little heed to what God has done for them. The church of Christianity has become so diluted, that now people reverence Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and Halloween more than they do their Creator. Sad to say, that in the Church of Jesus Christ, many are no different than the rest of the world.

I have watched two movies this week regarding Jesus Christ. One is showing now, in some places and is called, "The Case for Christ." It is from a book by the same name written by Lee Strobel in the late 90's. It is a true story of his search to disprove Christianity and Jesus Christ. He of course could not do it and became a Christian. It worth your viewing. Probably the biggest thing he had to overcome was why would anyone suffer, like Jesus did, for us. The answer is LOVE!

The other movie has been out since 2004. I have it on DVD and watched it at home. It is called, "The Passion of the Christ." It was directed by Mel Gibson and depicts the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus Christ, beginning in the Garden of Gethsemane and ending with Jesus being placed in the tomb. In that time frame, it covers the time in the garden, the arrest, the mock trials, and the horrific beating of Jesus Christ. Some think it is too graphic and excessive, but I think it is right on the mark. I have seen some pictures of Christ on the Cross with hardly a speck of blood anywhere. We know that is not true. I would not suggest the movie, however, for anyone under 16 years of age.

May our lives be a living testimony for "The Case for Christ," And may we have the passion to live for Christ, in some way that might be comparable to the passion He had and has for each of us. If you want to read just what a farce the trial of Jesus was, read Matthew 26:58-65. This simply reminds us that Jesus was in total control of every aspect of His life and death on this earth. He, as always, is in complete control of our lives also. But we must remember that Jesus cannot save us in our sins, only from our sins, and that on the condition of true and sincere repentance.
