Please Help Kelly Mesteth
Jan Myers’ daughter, Kelly Mesteth, is in need of our help. Jan attends Hill Cumorah Restoration Branch with her husband, Johnny Myers.
Kelly lives in Walthill, Nebraska, on a Reservation. In September of 2011, she was t-boned in a car accident. The accident resulted in multiple broken bones in her foot, ankle and leg, as well as tissue damage. In her first surgery, Kelly’s foot and ankle were attached to her leg incorrectly with plates and screws. That mistake has destroyed her previous knee replacement and affects her balance, causing back and leg pain. There have been a series of surgeries and the plates and screws have been removed. The difficulty is that her foot and ankle still need to be repaired correctly and she will need to have both knees replaced in the future. For the first time since 2011, she tests free of infection. Her orthopedic surgeon in Omaha says that this is the time to correct the damage. Kelly has insurance through her husband’s employer to have the surgery. The doctor will not perform the surgery until they have a handicap accessible bathroom in their home. The home is very old and the current bathroom is not adequate to renovate for handicap access. Kelly and her husband have taken bids on adding a handicap accessible bathroom addition to their home. The best bid from a trusted contractor is $10,000. This includes all supplies and his labor. Kelly and her husband do not have the funds to make this happen so that she can proceed with her surgery. The contractor has a window of time in July to build the bathroom and expects it to take 3 to 4 weeks.
Kelly’s doctor has told her that without the surgery she will become completely crippled and possibly unable to even stand. It is highly likely that the continued irritation to the tissue will cause the development of ongoing infections.
Kelly loves the Lord and her faith has been great through the pain and suffering of the past six years.
