BofM or Bible Flannel Graphs

From: Jackie Shearer

BofM or Bible Flannel Graphs

Does someone have flannel graphs for the Bible or Book of Mormon that they are no longer using and are willing to donate to a Junior Church? Or be willing to let me borrow and return?

It would be so appreciated, to be able make the stories we teach the young ones come to life!

Francis Harper Message for 9/29/17

From:Francis Harper

Message for 9/29/17

Dear Ones,

I hope we can all become extravagant givers. The old saying, “You cannot out-give the Lord” has proven to be true many times. As someone has said, “God’s shovel is larger than our own.”

Paul wrote: “But this I say, he that soweth sparingly, shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully, Every man according as he purposeth in his heart [as he is led by the Spirit], so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity . . . And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8).

Robert Morris, in his book The Blessed Life, shared a testimony on giving. Robert was led by the Spirit to give the entire offering which he had received, to a missionary who had given a brief testimony during a church service. Robert yielded to the voice of the Spirit. An hour later, a well-dressed man approached him at the pizza place and gave him a check. The amount—to the penny—was ten times the amount he had given to the missionary!

Morris’ testimony reminded me of the testimonies of Burton and Hattie Moores (my sister and husband and our next door neighbors) who faithfully and accurately rendered an accounting and paid their tithing each year of their marriage of more than 60 years.

One year a young couple with three small children were not financially able to attend that year’s reunion. Learning of their predicament, Burton and Hattie gave them a sum of money which enabled them to attend the reunion after all. Shortly after the reunion, there were storms in another area of our country. The electric power company of that area issued a call for linemen to come and assist them in restoring power to their customers. Burton, a lineman, volunteered. The overtime pay for his services amounted precisely to ten times the amount of the gift they had given!

Sometime later, the same couple had a fire in their home. Once again the Moores gave them money to help them recover from their loss. Soon after the fire, Burton once again volunteered to go to another area where storms had damaged electrical lines. Once again, his overtime pay amounted—to the penny—ten times the amount of the sum they had given. This was more than a coincidence. It was a double witness that we cannot out-give the Lord! Generosity pays! This is the Spirit of Zion, “. . . and there were no poor among them” (Genesis 7:23 IV).

I will conclude with the parable entitled:

Two Brothers.

Two brothers worked together on the family farm. One was married and had a large family; the other was single. At the day’s end, the brothers shared everything equally, produce and profit. Then one day the single brother said to himself, “It is not right that we should share equally the produce and the profit. I am alone and my needs are simple.” So each night he took a sack of grain from his bin and crept across the field between their houses, dumping it into his brother’s bin.

Meanwhile, the married brother said to himself, “It is not right that we should share the produce and profit equally. After all, I am married and have my wife and children to look after me in years to come. My brother has no one, and no one to take care of his future.” So each night he took a sack of grain and dumped it into his single brother’s bin.

Both men were puzzled for years because their supply of grain never dwindled. Then one dark night the two brothers bumped into each other. Slowly it dawned on them what was happening. They dropped their sacks and embraced one another.

My love to all,

Paul reminded the Macedonians: “I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to
support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, ‘It is more blessed to give
than to receive’” (Acts 20:35).
We are not born with the inclination to give. We are born takers; selfish and self-serving people. We
all need to struggle to overcome our selfishness and pride. King Benjamin taught his people that “the
natural man is an enemy to God . . . but if he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit” he can overcome
the natural man and become a saint (Mosiah 1:119-120).
We need to become streams of living water; conduits through which the blessings of God can flow.
Each of us can be an expression of God’s love. “Freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:7). We
are stewards of God’s blessings; spiritual and temporal.
According to those who have counted, there are 500 verses in the Bible on prayer and 500 verses on
faith. But there are more than 2,000 verses in the Bible on money and possessions. Money is referred to in
16 of the 38 parables of Jesus.
Some say tithing was under and law and is no longer applicable today. But the truth is that tithing is
an eternal principle. Jesus said our righteousness should exceed the law. Our giving should exceed the
tithe. Literally, tithing means a tenth. The tithe should not be the end of our giving, but the beginning.
Abram gave his tithes to Melchisedek (Genesis 14:17-20). Tithing was a part of the covenant of Jacob:
“Of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee” (Genesis 28:22).
Properly interpreted tithing should never be a burden. Every person and family should have their
just “wants and needs” provided before the amount of tithing owed is assessed. Tithing should be
calculated upon the income remaining after every just want and need for food, clothing and shelter has
been supplied. This has been called increase. “And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord” (Leviticus 37:22). The family needs had been supplied before the increase was counted. “Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed that the field bringeth forth year by year . . .” (Deuteronomy 14:22-23). Likewise, the increase of seed was determined after the family needs had been supplied.
Jesus endorsed the giving of tithes in Matthew 23, when he said, “Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier things of the law: judgment, mercy and faith; these ye ought to have done and not to leave the other undone.
Those who pay their tithing are always blessed. Those who give above and beyond the amount of their tithing will be blessed even more. Our giving should spring from a grateful and loving heart. “God loveth a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). Jesus mentioned the poor widow who gave only two mites, who cast in all she had (Mark 12), and Mary’s extravagant gift of ointment (John 12:3).

Generosity is a gift of the Spirit, an earmark of a saint. The message of Jesus to us is this: give
extravagantly of your love, mercy compassion, forgiveness, time, talent and money. “Give and it shall be
given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over . . . for with the same
measure that ye mete . . . it shall be measured to you again” (Luke 6:38).

October 2017 Australian Restoration News

Greetings to all. Please find attached the latest Australian Restoration News.

Kindest regards,
Noel Rowlatt

Around and about the Centre Place by High Priest Paul Gage, Independence, Missouri.
Greetings to the lovely Saints in Australia, I trust the Lord God, Almighty is blessing you every day in His marvelous ways. The annual CRE Priesthood Retreat was held Sept. 16-17, 2017. It was a very good experience for many. We were privileged to have priesthood present from Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, West Virginia, Canada, and Kenya. Those who gathered to Kirtland, Ohio September 16-17, 2017, I believe were touched by a portion of the Spirit of Endowment. As in any event such as this, a camp, retreat, reunion, Sunday-Wednesday services, and so forth, everyone is touched in some way. We have all heard the old saying, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating," meaning what we really get out of any experience will be validated by our future actions. We have a hymn that says, "We talk of Zion," but simply talking about Zion will not bring it forth. We may say, "I have decided to follow Jesus," but if we turn away in the face of temptation and trial, it becomes just words. I Corinthians, in talking about love and charity, reminds us that unless we have charity, we are just like tinkling brass and clanging cymbals, (My wording). We can plant all the seeds we want, but if we do not nourish and take care of them, they are just planted seeds. Though we do not like to hear it, DC 140: 5 makes it extremely clear that it is the lacking in our spiritual lives that causes Zion to be closer or further away. Another phrase we hear a lot, is "Practice what you preach." Our children, friends, and neighbors will not always give much credence to what we say, unless or until they See that we do as we say. Regardless of what experiences we may have had this past year, they won't mean much until people see them in action. Let's Go Forward Unto Zion!! In the Centre Place, summer is over and school is back in session. There will be a number of retreats at Odessa Hills Campgrounds, as well as around the country. May God bless and keep you. ******************************************************************************************* ESSENTIALS submitted by Sr.Jillian Maas, Brisbane Dear Reader, AIR and PRAYER are both vital to sustaining life. Air is essential to the human body for it to survive. We can go without the other necessities of food and water, for a period of days, but without air even for a few minutes, our brain and bodies cannot continue.
Prayer is the same for our spiritual bodies. Prayer is just as necessary for our survival, as Air. Why else would God have instructed us to PRAY CONTINUALLY? Other than breathing, which the brain usually looks after automatically, there is little else that we are instructed to do continually. There are 17 references throughout the Bible, Book of Mormon & Doctrine and Covenants, that refer to praying continually, or always. Perhaps when we practice this instruction, it too becomes automatic in our lives, just as breathing is.
“Behold, my beloved brethren, remember the words of your God; pray unto him continually by day, and give thanks unto his holy name by night” (II Nephi 6:103)
Without prayer, we struggle, falter and fall. With sincere and genuine prayer, we rhythmically flow through our days, uplifted, protected, encouraged, strengthened and guided. In Genesis Chapter 2, we learn that when God created man, He breathed life into him: AIR. Later in the garden, man walked and talked with God: PRAYER. It is interesting to note in Genesis that God is recorded as having said quite a lot, and mankind did the listening. When did we feel the need to change that perfect order of communication? We seem to do a lot of talking nowadays, usually asking for things, and God does the listening. Prayer is a two-way avenue of communication with our Heavenly Father. When we are in prayer, we are also to be open for God to communicate with us. He does talk to us still to this day, but not everyone is listening (John10:27).
There is NO excuse for not praying. If responsibilities, time constraints, forgetfulness or simply not interested are our reasons for not continually communicating with God, then that’s every reason why we should start talking with Him NOW. So that our lives become less complicated and more aligned with the plans he has for us.
“For I [God] know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call unto me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:11-13). “. . . calling on the name of the Lord for the Comforter, which shall teach them all things that are expedient for them, praying always that they faint not; and inasmuch as they do this, I will be with them even unto the end. Behold, this is the will of the Lord your God concerning you. . . Amen” (Section 75:2c). May the Lord guide us in prayer, teach us how to be receptive to His voice and obedient to His instruction. ******************************************************************************************** Testimony. “Evil Spirits Overcome” by Elder Neil Kerswell, Brisbane, Australia Over my life time I have seen many evidences of the interference of Evil Spirits in families, in the Church, in general and in myself. I would like to be able to say I have it all worked out and am able to use God’s gifts every time with absolute assurance to overcome them but that would be a lie (I am still learning). I grew up in the church in times when it had become weak due to falling away from the truth. I knew great ministry from some of the older generation that were very aged when I was young. I knew of great things God had done through them shared in testimony from my parents and others about miracles, gifts and casting out of evil spirits. I never really understood why, but it seemed God took almost all that generation home to Himself before the trials of our day came upon the Church and the world in general. Maybe so we would step up and discover the greater truths for ourselves, instead of standing behind legends My first recollection of an evil spirit was to do with myself. I went to bed and was saying my prayers. I sensed a dark coldness enter my room and I became afraid and didn’t know what to do. The coldness came upon me and I went into uncontrollable shivering and trouble breathing. My Father came into my room and I tried to explain to him what was happening to me. He sat beside me held my hand and prayed, as he did so the dark cold left me and flowed up his arm away from me, the experience wasn’t instant but was over eventually and warmth came back into me. Dad told me I had been attacked by evil and that it had no place in our family. This experience has allowed me many times over the years to sense when evil is attacking others so I can pray for them.
Years later Peter Churchill, Gary Melling and myself were in charge of a youth camp where we travelled some distance to do outreach with others who didn’t regularly get to attend church. Our youth were strong in the Lord and worked well as a team usually. This camp wasn’t going well however we struggled to have harmony and had unusual outbursts from individuals. We kept praying it would improve. My sister Linda was the first to bear testimony she had seen an evil spirit in the house as she was feeding her baby and had to pray it would leave. Then the next morning we woke up early and Peter came to me and said he had seen strange things with the dogs and asked me to look into the eyes of the mother dog. As I did so I saw evil. The 3 of us talked it out and agreed Peter and I would go somewhere private to pray that the evil spirits be removed from our camp once and for all. As we knelt on the ground and began to pray, the evil entered all the puppies and they started running around us in a circle and jumping at us trying to knock us over. At the same time the Spirit of excess laughter rested around us (I had never understood the references in the D&C about it so well as until this day), for myself I felt an almost uncontrollable desire to laugh instead of focusing on the great responsibility we had undertaken, it was completely out of character and wasn’t welcome. Peter was strongest on this occasion and spoke out loud commanding in the name of Jesus Christ for the evil spirits to depart and leave our camp (I don’t remember exact wording). His request was answered immediately, peace came upon us and the animals in an instant. The puppies went back to playing peacefully on their own, the spirit of excess laughter was nowhere to be found and Pete and myself were able to pray earnestly in the presence of God’s Spirit for a blessing to be poured out upon the camp experience. The camp from that time went much better. I will add though the evil one tried on other occasions to upset the camp in other ways (he never ever gives up on trying to frustrate the ways of God). However after we bore our testimony the youth were more aware and worked together in faith, which ultimately gave God the victory. Satan also attempted to handicap my two sons when they were little. To give you some history when I was a boy I stuttered through my primary school years. It was mostly when I had to do presentations in front of the class. I struggled with i-i-i-i-th-th-th-th which was humiliating and was the source of much teasing and hurt feelings from children in my classes. To a young boy I felt like it was never going to end. Then one day I decided I would love it if God called me to priesthood someday when I was a man. I prayed often that God help me to overcome stuttering so that someday I could preach the Gospel. Towards the end of grade 7 God heard and answered my prayers. It just went and I was free, it was wonderful and I went on to become a very confident public speaker and preacher/teacher as I matured. When we had children I prayed that the curse that came upon me never come upon them. To my knowledge our daughter Emma has never had any problem with it. Our boys were another matter. The first experience was I came home from work and Joanne met me quite upset that Joshua who could talk very well, suddenly that day started to stutter. I found him in his bedroom alone, he tried to talk and all that came out was i-i-i-i-th-th-th-th. I stopped him and explained his Mum and I were not going to tolerate this happening to him. We believed Jesus had paid for our sins and taken all our problems upon himself so we if faithful don’t have to endure them. I told him I was going to pray and rebuke the evil spirit that had come upon him and he would be OK. I prayed and then spoke with a strong voice that this curse stopped with myself and was not to be passed onto my children., I rebuked evil saying it was not welcome in our house and especially with our son, depart in the name of Jesus Christ (it’s a long time ago wording may not be exact but the sentiments are spot on) in an instant Joshua was able to talk properly like he had before and the curse passed him by and has never returned. About 3 years later I came home to a similar experience. Joanne met me upset that Samuel had suddenly started stuttering that day for the first time. Like Joshua I met Samuel in his room and he couldn’t speak properly i-i-i-i-th-th-th-th. We approached this time the same as with Joshua, explained to him what would happen so he wasn’t afraid then rebuked the evil spirit in the name of Christ. Samuel too from that moment was able to speak properly and has to my knowledge never had an issue ever again with stuttering. I on the other hand carry a thorn of remembrance. On very rare occasions I will begin to choke on a word and God has taught me to immediately think of another word with the same meaning and speak it instead, this takes away the feeling and allows me to continue without anyone knowing it even happened. I have wondered why I still carry this very small portion of what once was. All I can think of, is to keep me humble and in remembrance of the miracle God performed and the horrible handicap he lifted from me. There have been other experiences I could bear testimony of but feel this is enough at this time. I prefer to focus on the wonderful things done through Jesus Christ our Lord. However there is a need from time to time to make people aware of how Satan works and how he and his followers can be overcome. I will finish as I started, I am no expert and often have times of stupidity and lack of wisdom. Thanks be to God he never allows us to be tempted beyond what we can bare and overcome through Him if we are willing. ********************************************************************************************Australians are to decide on the very divisive issue of Same Sex Marriage. "Tell My People" is Back in Print

We have just reprinted Tell My People by Patriarch Walter Weldon. It is designed to let the Saints know God's plans and commands to prepare for Zion and the return of Jesus Christ.

Brother Weldon's book was first printed in 1993--24 years ago. We are now 24 years closer to the establishment of Zion and being with the Lord. Are we 24 years more ready than in 1993???

For those not familiar with the book and those who need a reminder, Brother Weldon was awakened early one morning in 1990 and told, "Get out of bed and write." He was given 12 statements, each prefaced with "Tell My People."

The statements are:

"I have gathered many of you to the land of Zion."
"You are here to build My Zion."
"This is the day of your preparation."
"I am waiting for you, My people, to sanctify your lives."
"Keep the Lord's Day holy."
"Come out of Babylon. Be not partakers of her ways."
"Of the parable of the ten virgins--we are now in that time period."
"My coming is near. Be ye ready."
"Keep My commandments."
"My Word must become flesh."
"Foretold calamities are coming to cleanse My people and the land of Zion."
(Tell My Priesthood) "Go ye out from among the wicked. Save yourselves. Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the Lord."

The new printing is a "revised edition."
It is slightly larger in page size.
It has been updated to make it more timely.
Some minor flaws have been corrected.

The new book has 172 pages and sells for $7.50 each. It is available at a discount for branches and groups to study:
12 or more copies at $6.75 each.
24 or more copies at $6.00 each.

Order from Paul V. Ludy by calling 816 210-8450 or sending e-mail to I can ship with an invoice and envelope for your payment. Postage is $3.00 for 1 book, $4.00 for 2 books, and dependent on weight for larger orders. I deliver in the Blue Springs and Independence, MO, area for only $1.00.

The Destiny of the Saints

From: Francis Harper

The Destiny of the Saints

The destiny of those who qualify as saints of God is indeed worthy of our utmost effort. Paul was willing to suffer the loss of all things to be given the privilege of living with the Lord in his millennial kingdom. As he wrote, “If by any means [whatever is required] that I might attain unto the resurrection of the just” [the First Resurrection] (Philippians 3:11). Why is it so important for us to come forth in the first resurrection—the resurrection of the just? Those of the First Resurrection will be allowed to live with the Lord during his millennial reign.

Paul wrote of the gathering of the saints at the time of the Lord’s Second Coming: “. . . even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say by the word of the Lord . . . For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; Then they [the righteous] who are alive, shall be caught up together into the clouds . . . to meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17).
The righteous, living and dead, will all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the sound of the last trump.
“. . . For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:51-53). Those of the First Resurrection, who presently have spiritual bodies, will also be given immortal bodies.
What a reunion this will be for those who will meet the Lord in the air. This meeting is described: “And the Lord said unto Enoch, then shalt thou and all thy city meet them there; and we will receive them into our bosom; and they shall see us, and we will fall upon their necks, and they shall fall upon our necks, and we will kiss each other. And there shall be mine abode, and it shall be Zion, which shall come out of all the creations which I have made; and for a thousand years shall the earth rest” (Genesis 7:71 IV).
Surely we, like Paul, are willing to relinquish every sin and worldly lust that might hinder us from being at this glorious meeting. The Bridegroom and his bride will never be separated again. “And in his presence is “fulness of joy, at his right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Psalm 16:11).
John wrote, “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him; for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine
linen, clean and white; for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God” (Revelation 19:7-9).
John continued: “And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write; for these words are true and faithful” (Revelation 21:2-5). God assured John and the saints that this is indeed our destiny! “. . . and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished . . . Blessed and holy are they who have part in the first resurrection [who] shall reign with him a thousand years” (Revelation 20:4-6). This is the destiny of the saints for which we should be willing to suffer the loss of all things!

Francis Harper Message 9/22/2017

Dear Ones,
Many today have embraced the false doctrines of McDonald and Darby that the most zealous and faithful Christians will be raptured [caught up] 3 ½ years before the Lord’s coming. This doctrine was concocted in an effort to interpret the prophecy recorded in Daniel 9:27. The translation of Enoch and his city to be with the Lord (Genesis 5:24 KJV; 7:77-78 IV) is a type and shadow of the catching up of the faithful saints to be with the Lord at the time of his coming, not 3½ years before his coming. Other scriptures supporting the catching up of the saints on the day of the Lord’s coming are: the parable of the wheat and tares (Matthew 13), and the teaching of Jesus that “one would be taken and the other left,” (Matthew 24; Mark13; Luke 17).
Jesus came the first time as the Lamb of God. The second time he will come as a King. “. . . and the government shall be upon his shoulder . . . of the increase of his government and peace there is no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6-7).
Our destiny, as would-be saints, rests in the hands of our kind and merciful Heavenly Father. Only as we surrender our will to his can we become his saints. Evidence of this truth has been fully proven. The city of Enoch was translated to heaven because “the Lord came and dwelt with his people . . . And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and of one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there were no poor among them” (Genesis 7:20, 23 IV).
The early-day saints “were all filled with the Holy Ghost . . . and the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul; neither said any of them that aught of the things which he possessed was his own . . . neither was there any among them that lacked” (Acts 4:31-34).
Likewise, for two-hundred years after the visitation of Jesus to the Israelites who were led to Meso-America, the people “were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free, and partakers of the heavenly gift [blessed by the Holy Ghost] . . . there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people . . . And surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of the Lord” (4 Nephi 1:4, 17,19).
The common denominator of these examples of Zionic people, is that the presence of the Lord and his Holy Spirit was dwelling with them or in their hearts. As I write today, the President of our nation will be speaking at the United Nations, the organization formed to bring peace to the world. Man is incapable of accomplishing this desire of all nations. God promised through his prophet Haggai, “And I will shake all nations, and the Desire of all nations [the Prince of Peace] shall come; and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts” (Haggai 2:7). He also speaks to us through the prophet Zechariah: “Not by might, nor by power [of men] but by my Spirit,” will Zionic conditions be established (Zechariah 4:6). Zion will become a reality; not by the edicts of man, but by the in-dwelling presence of God in our hearts.
A slogan made popular by Karl Marx is: “From each according to his ability, unto each according to his need.” This Communist, Socialist slogan has never been achieved in these societies. Only by the presence and power of God and the Holy Spirit, dwelling in our hearts, filling us with love, will we be motivated and empowered to fulfill this slogan. I conclude with this parable:
Once, so an old story goes, there was a city called Beautiful. It was the Master City of the world. Through it flowed a river—a life-giving river, named the River of Love. It watered the fertile valley and bore ships with cargoes from other lands. By its sweet water the city was cleansed and the inhabitants refreshed. It furnished fountains around which the children played, youth and maiden wooed, and age rested. Its banks were alternations of grassy slopes and busy marts, with ships and wharves and stores. Its placid spots reflected the blue sky and the brown hills far away.
When the sun kissed the hills “good morning,” and glittered from the towers and minarets, the men went to work in the valley, and when the shadows were long, they returned, bearing the fruit of their toil. At the gate through which they all passed, for it was a walled city, stood an urn with the inscription, From each according to his ability, unto each according to his need. Into this each man deposited his earnings liberally, saying “This I do for the common good,” and the River of Love flowed through the city, the Master City of the world.

My love to all,
Francis Harper

Kirtland, the Endowment and Zion

------ Forwarded message ------
From: Paul Gage

Kirtland, the Endowment and Zion

Those who gathered to Kirtland, Ohio September 16-17, 2017, I believe were touched by a portion of the Spirit of Endowment. As in any event such this, a camp, retreat, reunion, Sunday-Wednesday services, and so forth, everyone is touched in some way. We have all heard the old saying, "The proof is in the pudding," meaning what we really get out of any experience will be validated by our future actions.

A Blessing at Farview

A Blessing at Farview

A Blessing of Light and Truth
September 17, 2017

This past Sunday, we were so blessed with such
insights at Farview RB, also known as the House of Bread.

As our speaker opened with this familiar scripture:
Gen. 1: 18
"And I, God, said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven,
to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons,
and for days and for years, and let them be for lights in
the firmament of the heaven, to give light upon the earth; and it was so."

Part of what was brought was the reminder of both the
solar eclipse of 2017 and how part of its trajectory
was a total eclipse over Independence, MO. Then our
speaker began to talk about the eclipse for April 8, 2024 -just 7 years away.
And coupled with that was the fact that the trac for the
2024 eclipse will have totality over the cities of
Kirtland Ohio and Palmyra, New York. And the question was raised:
"Do you think the Lord is trying to get the attention of the
people of this church?" What other locations in America would
have such significance to any other people, than those who
are associated with or part of the Restoration? Oh how we
were blessed.

As I have pondered what was given, my mind was brought to this thought:
I wonder where the two trajectories intersect?
What city or cities will experience a total eclipse of the sun
during these two events? As I found maps which showed the
trajectory of both event, the points of intersection are these:
Carbondale, Illinois
Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Paducah, Kentucky

What in the world do these cities have in common or to do with

As we read in the news of the earthquakes, just another today in Mexico,
and the fact that earthquakes are mentioned as signs of the last days;
I continued my searching.

Any reasonable map of earthquake faults and fault lines will show you
that these three cities all lie within the New Madrid fault line.
All three of these cities are in the "Red" zone or very close to it.

You recall the events that have happened around the New Madrid fault.
"The New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) is the most active seismic area
in the United States east of the Rocky Mountains. The NMSZ is located
in southeastern Missouri, northeastern Arkansas, western Tennessee,
western Kentucky and southern Illinois. Southwestern Indiana and
northwestern Mississippi are also close enough to receive significant
shaking from large earthquakes occurring in the NMSZ."

So, what am I saying. It is more than
coincidence that the intersection of these
solar eclipses are associated with events
that will occur as the Lord brings again Zion.

Part of the message we received Sunday, was that the people
of this church need to put off their continued
procrastination and with greater efforts than ever before,
to be the Lord's obedient people. The message called this
church to repentance and that all pride and pomposity and
agendas cease. We were also told that the spiritual
wickedness in high places will soon be brought to naught
and only the humble and they who are making every
effort to be humble and obedient before the Lord will be accounted
worthy to remain.

I am NOT saying that in seven years there will be a catastrophic
earthquake, let me be clear; as of this time, I have no such
testimony. What I am saying is this:
It is God who rules the heavens above and all that He has
proclaimed shall come to pass. The Lord continues to put
in place all of the factors that He will use to
accomplish His purposes.

The message given, called us to repentance,
to cease our procrastination, and to
prepare for that which is to come.

Flamingo's have a new home......

Thanks to all who wrote letters of support although most were directed to my wife. The Flamingos have been relocated. If they show up on your front lawn with a “removal ransom note” attached from a youth group don’t blame me. I haven’t had this much fun since I wrote the Missouri Highway Department to have the possum declared the State Speed Bump.

Flamingo's free to a good home...

This flock of flamingo’s are free to a good home that loves plastic and has a sense of humor. Not appropriate would be a home with small dogs that agitate easily and have weak bladders. Also, toddlers that may mistake the birds for a boffo bat. There are about 45 birds including some that are nesting. (Ok, that’s what I call them when I can’t find the wire legs.) The flock may have multiplied since I acquired them and may include a very rare, reproducing pair, of pink plastic birds. I’m not sure ‘cause I was on some really loopy cold medication when I acquired the birds.

I need to get rid of the birds. As you can see in the photo they are really hard to mow around. Plus, I have not made any kind of emotional bond with the birds. Perhaps you will. I think there is a support group for that sort of thing on the Independence Square next to the Taco Place. The birds are not trained to fly but they are skilled at falling over.

These birds are trained fund raisers for your church or civic group. I will give you detailed instructions when you pick up the birds. I am no longer taking the cold medication. These are also suitable for college students everywhere for anonymous pranks (or paybacks) on former BFF’s across the dormitory hall way.

Please call or text soon for a pick up time. I need to mow the lawn.

We were blessed with a Good delegation from Maine, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, and Missouri. We were honored to have with us Priest Lloyd Mahoney from Hamilton, Ontario Canada as well as Elder Eric Odida from Kenya.

It was also marvelous to have Brother Darrell Webster and Brother Frank Dipple in our midst.

The theme is: Charity is the Pure Love of God.

Brother Jack Hagensen presided during the service in the Temple and was assisted by Brethren Richard Neill, Jason Hamilton, and Andrew Joyce.

The Sunday service in the Temple will be from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m.

Who Will be Saved?

From: Francis Harper

Who Will be Saved?

A rich young man came to Jesus and asked what he needed to do to have "eternal life?"
(Matthew 19:16). Life is eternal for all of us unless we are numbered with the "fearful and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, who shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death" (Revelation 21:8). The answer Jesus gave the rich young man was: ". . . if thou wilt enter into life [in the presence of God for all eternity], keep the commandments . . . the young man saith unto him, all these things have I kept from my youth up; what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, if thou wilt be perfect, go, sell all that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come and follow me" (Matthew 19:17-21). To be saved, we must be willing to surrender all according to the will of the Lord. The young man was not willing to give that which the Lord had asked of him. He went away sorrowful, "for he had great possessions." As it has been said, "It doesn't take much of a man to become a Christian, but it takes all of him." Jesus wants our hearts. And he said, ". . . where your treasure is, there will your heart be also"

(Matthew 6:21). He must be our treasure. After the young man had gone away in sorrow, Jesus turned to his disciples and said, ". . . it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard this, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, who then can be saved?

(Matthew 19:24-25). Salvation requires a complete surrender of our will to the divine will. Jesus beheld their thoughts; and said unto them, "With men this is impossible; but if they will forsake all things for my sake [giving the Lord first place in our lives]; with God "whatsoever things I speak are possible" (Matthew 19:26). Salvation in the Lord's millennial kingdom will not be attained without the recreating, empowering presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Spirit enables us to fulfill God's purposes in us. The evangelist Billy Graham stated that ninety-five percent of the Christians in America today are not saved. Too many are satisfied with just being good [cleansed and forgiven]; we must also be good for something! Jesus warned, ". . . Strait [a narrow, restricted passageway] is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it" (Matthew 7:23 IV; 7:14 KJV). To be saved, we must know the Lord and his perfect will for us, then do it with his help! Knowing the Lord in a close, intimate way is critically important to the attainment of our salvation. The foolish virgins did not know the Lord, ". . . and the door was shut" (Matthew 25:9). He said, "And many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name; and in thy name cast out devils; and in thy name done many wonderful works? Then will I say, ye never knew me . . ." (Matthew 7:32-33 IV; 7:22-23 KJV). Love for God and neighbor is the paramount requirement in the attainment of our salvation. John, the Beloved Apostle, understood this. He wrote: "We know that we have passed from death to life because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death" (1 John 3:14). Who will be saved? This is the ultimate question we all need to consider. The number who attain salvation and come forth in the First Resurrection will be few. Nephi wrote: "I beheld the church of the Lamb, and its numbers were few . . . and their dominions upon the face of the earth were small . . ." (1 Nephi 3:227-228)

Message for 9/15/17

Message for 9/15/17

Dear Ones,

I took a short and costly, three-day vacation in an Omaha hospital last week. The malady is called diverticulitis. I recall from a sociology class, that one of the basic needs of man is new experience. This was a new experience for me, but I would not recommend it to any of you.

The experience was not all bad. I will have more empathy now for those who need to spend time in a hospital. My hospitalization gave me the opportunity to meet some very skilled, dedicated, compassionate doctors and nurses. After complimenting one of the nurses for her care of me, she said, “I believe even if I did not get paid for it, I would continue to serve in this profession.” As it has been said, we cannot appreciate the sweet until we have tasted the bitter. After this experience, I am quite sure I will be more grateful for the good days.

I can now appreciate even more the words of Daniel: “And I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king‘s business . . .” (Daniel 8:27). Likewise, I appreciate the way the Apostle Paul handled the physical affliction he called, “a thorn in the flesh.” He wrote: “And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness . . .” (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). Our ailments do humble us and convince us of our need for the Lord, every day of our lives.

God promised that he would bless his covenant children physically. “And he said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26).

Recently a young mother was advised to have gall bladder surgery. She is strong in the faith and preferred to be healed by faith, as it is prescribed in James: “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up” (James 5:14-16). During the administration, the elders prayed that she be given wisdom to know if she should seek healing at a hospital. Ultimately she did this, and was healed.

Through the years there has been much discussion in the church on the subject of healing. Some have contended that those who go to the physicians are weak in the faith. This is not true.

The Magnolia Church (RLDS), located in Harrison County, Iowa, was organized by W. W. Blair on January 17, 1863. He wrote: “Owing to extreme views held by a few overly-zealous members in respect to the gift of healing by prayer of faith, we found it needful to teach the Saints that God requires his people to neglect no means he has ordained by which to alleviate and restore the afflicted, and that, therefore, they should be diligent in using wisely and skillfully the means the Lord has furnished” (Memoirs of W. W. Blair).

There are many testimonies of divine healings. Calling for the elders to come and anoint, and pray for the sick with the laying on of hands, is always appropriate. This ordinance, called the administration of the sick, has often resulted in miraculous healings.

Blair further stated in his memoirs that God is a God of revelation. God has inspired many in the healing business. He has revealed knowledge to doctors on how to treat their patients; which drug to prescribe and which surgical procedure to use. I have heard the testimonies of some who have been inspired on ways and means by which they have been able to bring healing to themselves or others.

We must remember it is God who is the source of every healing.

Pressing on the Upward Way! - 9/15

We sing the hymn,
"I'm pressing on the upward way,
New heights I'm gaining every day.
Still praying, as I onward bound,
Lord, lead me on to Higher Ground."

Pressing on indicates action rather than waiting to see what others will do We can't be like the old pioneer dog, which races ahead of the wagon train, until he comes to a fork in the road. Then he lays down until the wagons have passed and then he races into the lead again. Our blessing is that Jesus Christ is THE WAY and when we follow Him we are pressing on the upward way.

In his book, Celestial Law Book One, Elder Harvey William Bennett said, " Again, of principal importance with respect to Endowment, personal and collective, is the matter of PREPARATION! He quotes Joseph Smith Jr. from Church History, Volume 1, page 602, "...But strive to be prepared in all things...we must be clean every watchful and prayerful. do not watch for iniquity in each other. If you do, you will not get an Endowment, for God will not bestow it on such. But if we are faithful and live by every word that proceeds forth from the mouth of God, I will venture to prophecy that we will get a blessing that will be worth remembering,"

Again, please uphold in prayer those who traveling to Kirtland for the CRE Priesthood Retreat, and also the priesthood gathering in the Northwest, as well as those going to the Restoration School at Little Sioux, Iowa.

Let us pray for one another.

God be with you

Prayers and help needed for Artist Assistants

I am looking for people with skill and/or interest in stage production backdrop painting.

The CPRS fall musical is Singing in the Rain. I need a someone who will assist me with painting large backdrop panels for the production. Just an interest in doing art, willingness to learn, and follow directions. We have 6 weeks to paint 6, 10’ x 4’ panels of a Hollywood Hills landscape.

I will be directing the project and teach the elements of backdrop painting. We will sketch the panels in the music room at CPRS, then transfer them to the sanctuary/stage area to paint. We will be working in the sanctuary area on the panels.

The work doesn’t pay, except the grand satisfaction of seeing the results of your labor. If you are an art student, this would be an excellent intern experience that will look good on a resume as a stagecraft production assistant. Homeschoolers are welcome to apply.

Preferred requirements:
Drawing and painting experience
Flexible schedule for day and evening hours
Able to climb a ladder.
No allergic to latex paints

CRE Kirtland Priesthood Retreat - 9/14/17

The annual CRE Priesthood Retreat, in Kirtland, Ohio is this weekend. September 16-17, 2017.

Some are traveling up on Thursday, September 14 and others on Friday, September 15. Many will make the long trek back to Independence following the Sunday morning service.

Please keep them all in your prayers and especially Saturday evening at 6 PM and Sunday at 8 AM when they will be in worship in the Temple.

There has been much talk about the hurricanes, earthquakes in Mexico and Idaho, fires, and the strong effort to try to erase the history of the USA. Someone has even vandalized the statue of Francis Scott Key in Baltimore, Maryland, calling the National Anthem a "racist anthem." WOW! When we remove our history, we forget who we are. It has happened in the church and is happening in our country. What would any of us have been thinking if we were a prisoner on a ship that was bombing one of our forts. It is another case where God intervened to save the USA so it could be the "Land of Promise," for His purposes. Did you know that it rained so much, at that time, that the bombs that did hit the ground sank in the mud. OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!

In Christ,
Paul Gage

Prayer Update for Joan, Al and Judy

Prayer Update for Joan, Al and Judy

My cousins Al and Joan want to thank our people for their prayers. In the entire park, there was no structural damage. Joan said the worst of it was 2 ft. of flooding. As their house in Michigan has sold and disaster would have rendered them homeless, a friend had offered a vacant house in Michigan. Fortunately, this was not necessary. As they winter in a cove with their trailer near the dock, they would have lost all.

I Wish We'd All Been Ready

------ Forwarded message ------
From: paul gage

I Wish We'd All Been Ready

A song says,
"Life was filled with guns and war
And everyone got trampled on the floor.
I wish we'd all been ready.
Two men walking up a hill,
One disappears and one left standing still.
I wish we'd all been ready.
There's no time to change your mind
The SON has come and you've been left behind."

This is not to be confused with the rapture, but with the return of the Bridegroom (Jesus Christ) as we find in Matthew 25 and the parable of the Ten virgins.

That parable has always brought some thoughts.
All ten went out to wait for the Bridegroom.
All ten went to sleep.
All ten woke up and trimmed their lamps when they heard the cry,
"Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him."

Then comes the separation.
The foolish only had oil in their lamps and it was used up.
The wise had extra oil but wouldn't share it
BECAUSE they still did not know exactly when the Bridegroom would appear.

The oil that the wise virgins had is described in D&C 45:10b

Going to Kirtland. a reunion, retreat, camp or even church regularly will not guarantee that you/we will be ready when that time comes. They can certainly help, but each of us must obtain our own oil and be prepared.

Even our government encourages us to be prepared for any kind of natural disaster and our loving God also counsels us, even more, to prepare and be ready. Many people in the path of Hurricane Irma were critical of the weather forecasters, because they could not pin point the exact path, but who of us can read the mind of God? He created the winds and the waves and all things and determines their path. Some have called it, "luck" that more damage was not done in Florida. I believe that God altered the path because many were not ready. Only God can say about the next time, for each of us.

God bless
Paul Gage

the TRUTH of ALL Things

The Day of Endowment - continued - By Arthur Oakman

Saint's Herald; January 21, 1939

(For some of the thoughts following I am indebted to Elder Roy Weldon.)

Do we need endowment? We cannot begin to succeed without it; but it will not come until we get ready for it by being obedient to the law the law of consecration.

Let the men of business consecrate their substance to the Kingdom, and God will bestow wisdom to use it. Let the men of work make bare their arm to construct Zion, and God will make bare His arm. Let the instruments of mutual helpfulness be used in the spirit of love, and the face of God will be unveiled in institutions of fraternity and goodwill.

Let the people of the Church and the men of the ministry lift up their voices to tell others of the Gospel, and God will lift up His voice.

Let the men of the ministry examine themselves and make those disciplinary adjustments which the Spirit of truth has ere long revealed to them they must make and then their acts shall be the channels of Divine grace. Endowment awaits consecration of heart, and of mind, and of muscle. The day of its coming is the day we choose to spend and be spent. What shall be our answer? If it is to do the will of God then shall peace flow down as a river and nations learn war no more Then shall beauty crown science and Goodness justify knowledge. Then shall men and women dwell together in holiness and equality, and the heavens shall no longer stay themselves; but Christ shall come down in heaven from the presence of His Father to dwell with men on earth a thousand years.

God make us willing to endow His Church, that His Endowment may magnify our talents, so that those who know Him not shall bless His name, because it is for their sakes all things have been entrusted to our care

comments and the remains of the day:

Again, the call of God to the church - us; those who are in High Places and to what extent there is spiritual wickedness - these are they who ask why don't we have the endowment and provide placations of reasons when what is really needed is a $2.00 face mirror from the dime store and then look within - Apostle Paul's admonition to examine ourselves is far more reaching than just 5 minutes prior to the Sacrament Service.

Apostle Oakman states as does Brother Weldon: " Do we need endowment? We cannot begin to succeed without it; but it will not come until we get ready for it by being obedient to the law the law of consecration.

"Let the men of the ministry examine themselves and make those disciplinary adjustments which the Spirit of truth has ere long revealed to them they must make ... "

"Call upon the nations to repent, both old and young, both bond and free; saying, Prepare yourselves for the great day of the Lord: for if I, who am a man, do lift up my voice and call upon you to repent, and ye hate me, what will ye say when the day cometh when the thunders shall utter their voices from the ends of the earth, speaking to the ears of all that live, saying: Repent, and prepare for the great day of the Lord; yea, and again, when the lightnings shall streak forth from the east unto the west, and shall utter forth their voices unto all that live, and make the ears of all tingle, that hear, saying these words: Repent ye, for the great day of the Lord is come. And again, the Lord shall utter his voice out of heaven, saying: Hearken, O ye nations of the earth, and hear the words of that God who made you. O, ye nations of the earth, how often would I have gathered you together as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, but ye would not? How oft have I called upon you by the mouth of my servants, and by the ministering of angels, and by mine own voice, and by the voice of thunderings, and by the voice of lightnings, and by the voice of tempests, and by the voice of earthquakes, and great hailstorms, and by the voice of famines and pestilences of every kind, and by the great sound of a trump, and by the voice of judgment, and by the voice of mercy all the day long, and by the voice of glory and honor, and the riches of eternal life, and would have saved you with an everlasting salvation, but ye would not? " D&C 43

And how much more would the Lord bless and endow His people, if they would but REPENT.

There is a hymn in the Blue Book - # 84 - "Prayer for Zion" I hope you are familiar with this hymn and sing it often. If not, I would urge you to read the words and learn the song.
