Thank you for your prayers - Elevators

Thank you for the prayers for the Heritage House Elevator. The event was an over-90s birthday party. As it turned out, there was only a short delay in people getting upstairs. Walking the stairs would be impossible for most, and some anxiety was reported. From a couple of sources, I heard there was some rise in blood pressure.

2017 Restoration Branch Family Reunion and Conference of Restoration Elders

The Pastors of Zion (POZ) and the Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE) are once again sponsoring a combined Reunion and Elders Conference. The Restoration Branch Family Reunion and Elders Conference will be held at the Center Place Restoration School (CPRS)/Waldo Ave Restoration Branch from June 25 to June30, 2017.

As in previous years, the primary focus of the week will be on worship, classes and fellowship for all the Saints, classes and meeting opportunities for all priesthood, and opportunity for the Elders to meet in conference. The overall theme, and daily themes for the week are as follows:

Jesus is calling! O Hear Him Today

Behold, I say unto you, that the good shepherd doth call you; yea, and in his own name he doth call you, which is the name of Christ; And if ye will not hearken unto the voice of the good shepherd, to the name by which ye are called, behold, ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd. And now if ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd, of what fold are ye? Alma 3:62-64

Sunday Calling us to listen

Monday Calling us to repent and obey

Tuesday Calling us to forgive

Wednesday Calling us to witness

Thursday Calling us to our stewardship

Friday Calling us to be of one heart and one mind - Zion

We invite all restoration branch saints and priesthood to consider participating in the 2017 Restoration Branch Family Reunion and Conference of Restoration Elders. We believe that this Reunion will once again be a wonderful opportunity for the Saints to draw close to the Lord and to each other.

From: Francis Harper 3/24/17

Dear Ones,

According to the prophecy of Amos: “In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst” (Amos 8:13).
Sadly, these prophetic words of Amos are being fulfilled in our day. As in the days of Isaiah, “. . . they trust in vanity [pride] and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity . . . truth is fallen in the street” (Isaiah 59:4,7,14).
We are losing our young people [the fair virgins and young men] by multiple millions each passing year. Where can we place the blame? What can we do to stem the tide?
I am a participant in a mentoring program at the local school. My mentee is a ten-year-old fourth grade boy. We meet for an hour each week for lunch. He was so tired yesterday he could hardly keep his eyes open. He told me he had played a video game until five o’clock in the morning. His parents are divorced. He lives with his mother and a surrogate father whom he describes as being “mean.” America has a parental problem.
I asked my youngest granddaughter if she knew of any high school classmates who had an interest in Jesus and the truth. She could not name even one! She described a popular basketball player who claims to be an atheist. She also mentioned that many in her class are from single-parent homes.
I have described some of what is going on in rural America. I suspect that conditions in urban schools are much the same, or worse. I have recently heard that disciplinary problems are also increasing in our school. I am sure disciplinary problems are increasing in schools throughout our nation.
President Donald J. Trump’s campaign slogan was “Make America Great Again.” America will never attain greatness again unless, or until, the vast majority of its citizens fully embrace Christianity again. America is a choice land “above all other lands preserved for a righteous people and whatsoever nation shall possess it, shall be free from bondage, and from captivity . . . if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ . . .” (Ether 1:29, 35).
Alexis de Tocqueville (1805 – 1859) was a famous French statesman, historian and philosopher. He wrote: “I sought for the key to the greatness and genius of America in her harbors . . .; in her fertile fields and boundless forests; in her rich mines and vast world commerce; in her public school system and institutions of learning. I sought for it in her democratic Congress and in her matchless Constitution.
“Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power.
“America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”

My love to all,
Francis Harper

Bon Appetit

One of the best signs of good health is a good appetite. This is just as true for us spiritually
as it is physically. A young man said to me, “I am hungry.” I asked him if he was hungry for meat
and potatoes. I knew he was speaking of another kind of hunger. He was hungering and thirsting
for truth. Jesus said, “And blessed are all they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for
they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 5:8 IV; 5:6 KJV).

Many are on a starvation diet today and are not aware that they are starving spiritually.
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of
bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. And they shall wander from
sea to sea [from sea to shining sea], and from the north [and south] even to the east [and west],
they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. In that day shall the
fair virgins and young men faint for thirst” Amos 8:11-13).

In our nation, we are blessed with a plentiful supply of food and water. I have been amazed
at the quantity, quality and variety of food available in our large food stores and warehouses. We
certainly do not have a famine of bread, or of water, in our land. Due to the abundance of food to
satisfy our physical appetites and a lack of self-discipline, we have an obesity problem.

While the inhabitants of our nation are being well-nourished physically, they are
experiencing a famine for spiritual food. This is a two-fold problem: 1) Those who have been
called to teach and preach the word are not fulfilling their calling. 2) The sheep and the lambs do
not have an appetite for the word. I believe the lack of appetite is the greater part of the problem.
We need to be reminded of the words of Jesus: “Man does not live by bread alone, but by
every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). We need to whet our
appetites for the nutritious words of God. The good counsel of Nephi should be heeded: “Feast
upon the words of Christ; for behold the words of Christ will tell you all things what [that] ye
should do” (2 Nephi 14:4). The word “feast” suggests more than a mere nibbling upon the
Scriptures.

Even as we need to discipline ourselves against an over-indulgence of physical food, we
need to discipline ourselves to feast daily upon a portion of spiritual food. At a reunion years
ago, Apostle Arthur Oakman challenged the Saints: “If you will discipline yourselves to spend
fifteen minutes each day in studying the Scriptures, within a year you will be receiving the
ministry of angels.”

The Lord has provided an abundance of spiritual food for us. Jesus said, “I am the bread of
life; he that cometh to me shall never hunger . . . your father did eat manna in the wilderness, and
are dead. But I am the living bread which came down from heaven [the manna which came down
from heaven was a type and shadow of the coming of Jesus]; if any man eat of this bread, he
shall live forever” (John 6:35-51).

Psalm 119, the longest chapter in the Bible, is in reality a song, expressing the psalmist’s
great joy and gratitude for the word of God. As we grow in spiritual maturity, reading the
Scriptures becomes a grand feast to our souls. As the psalmist proclaimed, “How sweet are thy
words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth” (Psalm 119:103.

One hour with Jesus, a grand feast to my soul; His burdens are light and his yoke easily
borne; Though hardships and trials I may have to meet, The Spirit bears witness the end will be
sweet. From the hymn “One Hour With Jesus”, Hymns of the Restoration, #68 or The Hymnal, #397.
Above all, we need to develop an appetite for the presence of the Lord and his Holy Spirit.

Family in need!

From: Ester McCune

Family in need!

Hi Garland,

I have copied two messages that my friend posted on Facebook in the last couple days. She and her husband and little girl are in desperate need of help right now. They have to be out of their apartment by the end of the month and they have not been able to find somewhere to move. They also don't have a car.

Tonight she messaged me and ask if I knew anyone who had a car because she's seriously contemplating having to sleep in a car to keep her daughter off the streets. If I was financially able I would buy them a house right now.

My Hope Is that someone on your mailing list would have the means to help them. I have known her since we were kids and she has always been the hardest worker regardless of of her health which is not very good. I would appreciate it if you would forward this on the restoration mailing list and hopefully there is someone who can offer them a lifeline.

Thank you,
Esther McCune

March 21st - If anyone knows of houses to rent in the independence area or even blue springs area ( two bedroom ) & a car that is in decent shape for sale or that someone wants to give away. My family is having to move in less then a week and we are in major need of help. I hate asking on Facebook but I have learned sometimes it's best to let others know that you need help then hold back and keep it to yourself. Prayers are needed. Thank you.

March 22nd - Tired of having these twisted knot pains in my stomach from so much stress. Praying always works in so many ways and my family is in need of prayers big time. We are all healthy.... Well mostly healthy. We are breathing and are able to work lol. But we are in need of a car as soon as possible before the end of the month and if anyone knows of anyone renting out homes in independence or blue springs area please let me know. I have been searching the internet all day, calling and messaging people and I keep seeming to hit a wall each time. I keep telling myself, even if I don't have anything I at least have my family and if that is all I have then I will be happy but with having children you kind of need the other stuff lol. Prayers are needed. Sorry for the long post.

Conversion of Old Sermons

What I am wanting to do is find someone that will convert the old reel to reel audio tapes to CD or even a thumb drive. I have sermons from Oscar and Hubert Case, Al Pellitier, Ray Zinzer, ZZ Renfroe, Seventy Thommy Thomas, D. Blair Jensen, Charles Heeld, and maybe others. Most of what I have is of Oscar Case since he was my grandpa.

I would be willing to try doing this myself if I had access to a recorder. I can make copies of CDs that could be shared in our Lexington congregation library. I know there are many inspirational sermons among what I am holding and I want them to be shared with others.

Please let me know of anyone you think might be of help in this endeavor. It has been on my heart pretty heavily for about two weeks now and I think it is what the Lord wants. If you want to call me, my cell number is 816-694-1098. I also can accept text messages.

Thank you for your help.

AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS

Easter Greetings

APRIL 2017

Around and about the Centre Place by High Priest Paul Gage, Independence, Missouri.

April Greetings to the wonderful Saints in Australia. As you all know, April is a very special month in the life of the church. As we find in church history Volume 1, pp. 67-68 and also Doctrine and Covenants 17 directions from God as to the organizing of the church. Joseph Smith, Jr., wrote: “In this manner did the Lord continue to give us instructions from time to time concerning the duties which now devolved upon us; and among many other things of the kind, we obtained of him the following, by the spirit of prophecy and revelation, which not only gave us much information, but also pointed out to us the precise day upon which, according to his will and commandment, we should proceed to organize his church once again here upon the earth” (Times and Seasons, 3:928-929).

D&C 17:1a The rise of the church of Christ in these last days, being one thousand eight hundred and thirty years since the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the flesh, it being regularly organized and established agreeably to the laws of our country, by the will and commandments of God in the fourth month,
and on the sixth day of the month which is called April;
D&C 17:1b which commandments were given to Joseph Smith, Jr., who was called of God and ordained an apostle of Jesus Christ, to be the first elder of this church; and to Oliver Cowdery, who was also called of God an apostle of Jesus Christ, to be the second elder of this church, and ordained under his hand;
D&C 17:1c and this according to the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to whom be all glory, both now and forever. Amen.
This is a good time to re-emphasize the beginnings of the church in 1830. Whether in the branches, homes, individually, or all, time should be taken to remind us of our church heritage. I realize it is not that easy when the Saints are isolated, but still, we should never be isolated from our heritage or our Lord.

The Conference of Restoration Elders and Pastors of Zion are joining to promote church heritage during the week of April 2-8, 2017. There will be an All-Branch Sacrament Service at Waldo Avenue RB/Center Place Restoration School on Sunday, April 2, 2017. This will be followed up with activities on Tuesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 6, 2017.

As you may recall, during this past year, a home was purchased that once belonged to Joseph Smith III and Israel A. Smith. The home was the location for ten or more sections of the Doctrine and Covenants that came through these two prophets. A Board of Directors has been formed and some relatives of the Smith family are on the Board. We are into the season of retreats, school terms ending, and all the events of summer time on the horizon.

All the missionary groups are staying active with mission trips being planned by each group for those areas under their fields of ministry. Continue to pray for the missionary work around the world. We are seeking input from the Australian Saints and Priesthood as to what ministry is desired in 2017 and 2018. Please let us know your thoughts. We are also encouraging Australian Saints to join us here in the USA for summer reunions and other gathering. Anyone interested, feel free to contact the SEAAM Board through me. God bless each you very much.

Riches from the Scriptures by Elder Neil Kerswell, Brisbane, Australia

Volume 03 “BE BUILT UPON THE ROCK”

Chapter 4 “Christ, His Kingdom and Gospel is the Stone”

Daniel 2:28-49 Great Image – Showing the Latter Day

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

hereafter; and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

Daniel 2:30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
Daniel 2:31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee, and the form thereof was terrible.
Daniel 2:32 This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
Daniel 2:33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay,
Daniel 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
Daniel 2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them; and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Daniel 2:36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
Daniel 2:37 Thou, O king, art a king of kings; for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
Daniel 2:38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
Daniel 2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
Daniel 2:40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron; forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things; and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
Daniel 2:41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay
Daniel 2:42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
Daniel 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men; but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
Daniel 2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter; and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Daniel 2:46 Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshiped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odors unto him,
Daniel 2:47 The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.
Daniel 2:48 Then the king made Daniel a great man, and he gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
Daniel 2:49 Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

Daniel showed unto King Nebuchadnezzar both the dream and the meaning of his dream which had troubled the King greatly, and he did this by the power of God and took no honour unto himself at any time. Ultimately this revealed that the Kingdoms of this world will come and go throughout the stream of time, overcoming and subduing the previous then falling to another. All these kingdoms would command great power in their day, having strengths and weaknesses.
God is more powerful and His Kingdom endures forever and shall ultimately destroy the kingdoms of the world. This is represented by a Stone cut out of a Mountain without hands which breaks the great image and all its corresponding parts/kingdoms. This shows us that a part of the whole Mountain, a Stone cut from the original Rock, something which was brought about without Men’s hands and worldly knowledge and ideas.
Something done by the hand of God would bring His Kingdom into this world. A light that shines in the darkness, thus destroying the world and its wisdom with light, truth and the faith to overcome the power of Satan and the grip he has on this world.
There was also a representation of the Sifting time which separates the Chaff from the Wheat. We are all in process of holding on tight to the Gospel because God allows his chosen people to be thrown up in the air from time to time, while the winds of false doctrine and change blow through and carry away those who are Chaff (not firmly grounded to the Rock). This helps strengthen the true Saints of God as they by faith and determination in our Lord hold true for another round of Sifting completed.

This also serves to gather the true believers into the Lords harvest and gathers the wicked into bundles ready to be burned at the end of this world or the end of the wicked. Light cleaves to light and darkness to darkness.

Micah 4:1-5 Mountain of the Lords House – Like Daniel 2:35
Micah 4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
Micah 4:2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Micah 4:3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plough-shares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
Micah 4:4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the Lord of Hosts hath spoken it.
Micah 4:5 For all people will walk everyone in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.

In the first scripture from Daniel God revealed His Kingdom through Christ, or in other words a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, a part of God and His kingdom, himself revealed in reality and in a manner that we could understand, coming into this world by the will of the Father and not by the will of man, God revealing in the form of a man, God’s ways. Thus God’s light shone in darkness and the Kingdoms of the world, the ways of Satan were overcome for all who would receive it. This spread the Gospel or Good News of salvation throughout the world. The scripture from Micah reveals the kingdom of God gaining momentum, the stone from Daniel’s interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream is rolling forth and breaking every sinful band, destroying the kingdoms of this world through the light and revelation of God revealed in the life of Christ.

The ways of peace and love are beginning to take root and making change amongst the people, even throughout the world. The hearts of the children are being turned to their fathers, ensuring they won’t be destroyed with the world, but rather receive of the promises God made to our fathers. Our fathers shall also take interest in us and be praying for us, revealing God’s ways to us. In time God promises we shall all be united and hug and kiss each other, fulfilling the words of the prophets. God shall be amongst His people.

The purpose of this Church (set up in the last days) was to prepare a people ready to meet God and fellowship with the Church of the First Born which was caught up into heaven (in Enoch’s day) and was reserved to come back in the last days. This is like when Moses wanted his people to be sanctified (made Holy), so that they could come up into the mountain and meet God face to face (they failed and asked Moses to go up in their place). God has asked us through the Prophet Joseph Smith Junior many years ago to be sanctified and ready to be a part of Christ returning to the earth. He has given meaning to the principles of the Gospel and asked us to keep His commandments, so that our temples (bodies) may be made holy, clean from sin, having a pure and undefiled heart, motivated by love and humility. All this is made possible by the indwelling of the Holy Ghost, the power to overcome sin in the flesh through the sacrifice of Christ, the justification to stand in the presence of God. Having done all that we can do, God makes up the difference for those whose heart is to be a part of the Celestial Kingdom. Only God knows if this is true of us. The sifting time is well and truly upon us, many have fainted by the way and given up the fight of the Christian and dissented over to the ways of the world, thus being carried away with the wind and discarded like the chaff (lost to the world). To those of you who have not given up. Please continue to hold onto the Rod of Iron (the word of God), press forward on the straight and narrow path that leads to life eternal. As the dark mists and destructions threaten to overpower you, pray and exercise faith as you have never done before. God will help you and strengthen you (the word Comforter – means with strength) God is with you in strength and will assist you and is more than equal to the task of holding you if you will not let go of His hand. Hold On, Hold On, and Hold on. Press forward in faith believing and your faith shall be rewarded. When the seed of God is planted in us some bring forth fifty fold and others a hundred fold. God knows your potential and will help you to reach and exceed it through His tender mercy if you love and honour Him as Father and Lord of your life. The rich promises of God await you. How wonderful are the ways of God.

D&C 10: 11b-12b Great and Marvellous Work (to Joseph and Hyrum Smith)
Sec 10:11b Build upon my rock, which is my gospel; deny not the spirit of revelation, nor the spirit of prophecy, for woe unto him that denieth these things;
Sec 10:11c therefore, treasure up in your hearts until the time which is in my wisdom that you shall go forth: behold, I speak unto all who have good desires, and have thrust in their sickles to reap.
Sec 10:12a Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the life and the light of the world. I am the same who came unto my own, and my own received me not;
Sec 10:12b but verily, verily I say unto you, that as many as receive me, them will I give power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on my name. Amen.

The counsel here is to build upon the Rock. As mentioned already the world and its churches offer some really dodgy building material and foundations which cannot best endure the storms of life and tests of time. I am not saying there isn’t light in these places. When Joseph Smith the third asked God why I shouldn’t join with the Mormons, he was told in answer because the light that is with you is greater than that with them.

Church History, Volume 3, page 250
“I do not care to say any more at present, but will simply add that if the same Spirit which prompts my coming, prompts also my reception, I am with you.”-True Latter Day Saints’ Herald, vol. 1, pp. 102-104.

On motion of Isaac Sheen it was “resolved, that Brother Joseph Smith be chosen Prophet, Seer, and Revelator of the Church of Jesus Christ, and the successor of his father.” His mother, Mrs. Emma Bidamon, widow of Joseph Smith the Martyr, was also received into fellowship by unanimous vote. Page 251 Joseph Smith was then ordained President of the High Priesthood of the Church, under the hands of Elders Z. H. Gurley, Sen., of the Quorum of Twelve, and William Marks, of the High Priests, according to the minutes of the conference 3

This ordination was previously ordered by the unanimous vote of the conference.

Joseph’s Testimony why he wanted to join the Work. Church History, Volume 3, Chapter 12, Page 258
“ A year or two before this we had raised an excellent crop of wheat, upon a piece of land lying in the south of our meadow, and this man Yates had assisted in doing some of the work. While engaged in it we had some conversation about Utah. After this, I did not see him for some months. One day, while pondering these questions, (and here, unlike some, I cannot certainly state whether morn or even, only that the sun was shining,)

I suddenly found myself sowing this piece of land to wheat. My brother and this Mr. Yates I saw harrowing the wheat after my sowing. In passing over the land I met Mr. Yates as he drove to and fro, and our conversation was upon this Utah subject; and the same arguments and statements were repeated by him. To these I was urging again my reluctance to move, and the question was again presented, Why not go to Utah? I paused, rested the bag of grain that I was carrying across my shoulder, upon my knee, and turned to answer him. I heard a slight noise like the rush of the breeze, that arrested my speech and my attention. I turned my gaze slightly upward and saw descending towards me a sort of cloud, funnel shaped, with the wide part upward. It was luminous, and of such color and brightness that it was clearly seen, though the sun shone in its summer strength.

It descended rapidly and settling upon and over me enveloped me completely, so that I stood within its radiance.

“As the cloud rested upon the ground at my feet, the words ‘Because the light in which you stand is greater than theirs,’ sounded in my ears clearly and distinctly.

Joseph the third had been raised without the guidance of his father, after the mob had killed his father. Emma his mother no doubt raised him as best she could. However with the leading men of the church scattering in all directions after the passing of Joseph Smith junior, Joseph his son had been left to grow up in a bit of a spiritual vacuum. God had plans for him as designated by his father before the mob killing took place. But Joseph had much to learn, much grounding to take place, leading up to the time that he took his place within the church. Even then I have no doubt his leadership was entirely dependent on leaning upon God for guidance and every step of the way.

Joseph the third was taught one of the most important lessons here in his experience in answer to the question why not go to Utah. In fact this opened the door to his being able to lead the church for the rest of his days. The answer he received didn’t say the Utah Mormons didn’t have light and truth amongst them. What it told him was the Light in which you stand is greater than theirs. Look more deeply! In answer to his heart felt question, in which he took the advice in scripture (if any of you lack Wisdom, let him ask of God). God allowed him to hear a rushing breeze, then see the light of God revealed in a vision in the form of a cloud, funnel shaped, with the wide part upward, filled with colour and light and brightness that settled upon and over him, then God Spoke to him out of the cloud of light in which he was now standing. ‘Because the light in which you stand is greater than theirs,’. Joseph had the gift and potential to receive the revelation of God to man, this in turn is the revealment of Christ and his Kingdom in its truest form into the lives of God’s people, thus offering gifts unto
all who covenant with God.

His experience wasn’t saying the light he had known up until this point was greater than theirs (in fact it was probably less than theirs at that point because he didn’t have the privilege of his father’s counsel from a young age on). God’s message to young Joseph the third that day was the revelation straight from God which he was enjoying and basking in at that time is greater than theirs, I would say the greatest of all, having the potential to bring forth the kingdom if the saints of that day would allow it place in their hearts. This helped the church to hold on for many years, being built upon the Rock.

During Joseph the thirds life, there wasn’t much ground breaking revelation like in the days of his Father.

However an understanding of what had already been given came through him bringing stability, which the membership greatly needed after their horrific experiences at the hands of evil men and women.

Satan was still hard at work and in times before and during my life time, false doctrines and attitudes have entered in. Often sifting God’s people away as they have allowed it place in their hearts. It is prophesied these things would happen, it is prophesied the Gentile peoples as a whole to whom the Gospel went would collectively and not individually deny it, walking in their own ways, and after the image of their own God, whose image is in the likeness of the world, as mentioned in previous volumes, God is going to in time, seal up the time of the Gentiles and turn unto Israel again for the last time and they shall build Zion and some of the Gentiles who remain faithful will be permitted to assist in this great work.

It is only in and through Christ, being built upon the Rock that we see our true place in this great work, there is much God authorised change to take place as given through all the holy Prophets since time began. If we are not careful we will find ourselves fighting against the movements of God thus making us enemies to God. One thing I can assure you the reader of is that if we find ourselves in this position we will lose. God’s words must all be fulfilled and do not come back unto him void. Therefore search the scriptures, ask questions in the prayer of Faith believing you shall receive and you shall also be standing in a light that is greater than theirs as God reveals His true will to you and what role He would have you to play in it.

The wisdom of men shall fail the blind lead the blind for a season but shall all fall in the pit together. Satan and his servants aggressively defend the territory they have gained within the Restoration peoples, you may know them by their fruits. Do not trust in the arm of flesh, but rather feast upon the word of God, receive his Spirit through Baptism and Confirmation, do all things worthily always keeping in mind it is only in and through Christ that we can be worthy, He being our advocate with the Father.

May God bless you to this end.

Weekly Message from Francis 3/17/17

Dear Ones,
Although America is not mentioned by name in the Scriptures, the descriptions of Joseph’s land in the patriarchal blessings of Jacob and Moses describe a land resembling America, the beautiful. Jacob pronounced a blessing upon the head of Joseph: his favorite son. “Joseph is a fruitful bough [of the family tree], even a fruitful bough by a well whose branches run over the wall [a barrier like an ocean]. But his bow [weapons of warfare] abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the mighty God of Jacob [God has blessed America ‘land that we love’]. Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above [rain in due season], blessings of the deep that lieth under [soils rich in fertility; coal, oil and ore], blessings of the breasts and womb [healthy children]. The blessings of thy father have prevailed above [greater than] the blessings of my progenitors [ancestors] unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills [the Rockies and Andes Mountains, extending from the Arctic to Antarctica]; they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separated from his brethren” [in his own land—America] (Genesis 49:22-26).

Before the Israelites entered their promised land, Moses blessed the tribes of Israel: “And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the Lord be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath, and for the precious fruits [the fruited plains] put forth by the sun . . . And for the precious things of the lasting hills, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush [the great I AM, who Moses encountered at the burning bush near Sinai]; let the blessings come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren . . .” (Deuteronomy 33:13-17).

The prophets of Israel who were guided to the Western Hemisphere by the hand of the Lord were of the lineage if Joseph. These men of God wrote, “And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet [about 600 BC] from the knowledge of other nations. For, behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance’ [For many centuries the USA remained isolated, protected and hidden between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans] (2 Nephi 1:16-17).

In God’s precise timing, “the Spirit of God wrought upon a man [among the Gentiles]; and he [Columbus] went forth upon many waters, even to the seed of my brethren, who were in the promised land” [America] (1 Nephi 3:147-161). Lehi also prophesied that “there shall none come into this land [USA], save they shall be led by the hand of the Lord. Wherefore this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them. Wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity: if so, it shall be because of iniquity. But unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever. Wherefore, I Lehi, have obtained a promise, that inasmuch as those whom the Lord God shall bring out of the land of Jerusalem [and elsewhere] shall keep his commandments, they shall prosper upon the face of this land. And they shall be kept from all other nations . . . And they shall dwell safely forever” (2 Nephi 1:10-21).

My love to all
Francis

The Lord’s Immigration Policy

According to the Scriptures, “God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34) and “all are
alike unto him” (2 Nephi 11:115), but it is written, “And [God] hath made of one blood all nations of
men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and
the bounds [borders] of their habitation” (Acts 17:26).
Many in our nation have adopted the globalist view of our world; a borderless world has become their agenda. Like the globalists, it is God’s will to have a one-world government, with all nations living in harmony and peace under the leadership of Jesus Christ, whose right it is to reign. “And the government shall be upon his shoulder . . . Of the increase of his government and peace there is no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6-7).
Those who are presently promoting a world without borders are running ahead of the Lord. The Lord’s literal, everlasting kingdom will indeed come upon the earth, but it will be established in his own time, will and way.
Tolerance and diversity are being promoted by many of those who embrace the globalist vision, yet “God
cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance” (D & C 1:5f). Nor does he approve of those who worship other Gods: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3).
God has provided two chosen lands for the sons of Jacob: Judah and Joseph. These lands of promise—Israel and the USA—are becoming burdensome stones. They are targeted for extinction, being called the “little Satan” and “big Satan.” Zechariah prophesied: “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people; all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it” (Zechariah 12:3). In Israel the issue is with the Palestinians. In the USA it is the Syrian refugee crisis.
When the Israelites arrived at their promised land they were instructed to “make no covenant with them [the former inhabitants of the land], nor show any mercy unto them; Neither shalt thou make marriages with them, thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. For they will turn away the son from following me, that they may serve other gods; so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. But thus shall ye deal with them; thou shalt destroy their altars . . . and burn their graven images. For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God; the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people upon the face of the earth” (Deuteronomy 7:1-7). God is not in favor of his people fraternizing with those who worship alien gods. God’s plan for America is revealed in The Book of Mormon. It, too, is a land of promise. Nephi, a descendant of Joseph, wrote: “”And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me saying, Blessed art thou, Nephi, because of thy faith, for thou hast sought me diligently, with lowliness of heart. And
inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandment ye shall prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise . . . yea, even a land which is choice above all other lands” (1 Nephi 1:53-54).
The inhabitants of our “sweet land of liberty,” and those who live in Israel, are called to be an ensign to the nations; (see Isaiah 2:2-4). This land [USA] was “preserved for a righteous people . . . and whatever nation shall possess it, shall be free from bondage . . . if they will but serve the God of the land who is Jesus Christ” (Ether 1:29-35).
Lehi, the father of Nephi, also prophesied of our land, “That there shall none come into this land, save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord.” This is the Lord’s immigration policy.

Brick Ranch For Sale in Independence

http://portal.heartlandmls.com/Matrix/Public/Portal.aspx?ID=5958204992#1

This is a listing for my dad's brick ranch in Independence. We just carpeted and painted the main living areas and some downstairs too. We will be scraping and painting the whole outside starting tomorrow and hopefully be close to finished by the end of the weekend. It was under contract after 12 hours on the market, but it looks like the lady is going to get out of the contract (situation unrelated to the house).

If you are looking for a brick ranch in Independence, this might be for you. :) He lives on a dead end street and has amazing neighbors that have been very helpful.

Please Pray for Shirley Heater

I just got a phone call from Dennis Heater who told me that Shirley is in the ICU at St Mary's in Blue Springs. She has been sick for several weeks and had to go in because she couldn't get enough air. Her oxygen was down to 80 when she got there. Dennis is asking for the Saints to remember her in their prayers. Please put her on your prayer lists.

Giving God first consideration

From: Francis Harper
wbfrmsup@iowatelecom.net

Dear Ones,

We must reserve time in our busy schedules to sustain ourselves spiritually and assist others to do the same. Jesus said to Peter, “When you are converted, strengthen your brethren.” (Luke 22:32). Jesus said further, “And what I say unto one I say unto all . . .” (Mark 13:53 IV; 13:37 KJV).

I recently encouraged a new convert to remember to take time to attend church regularly, to help his family grow in the Lord. He said, “Yes, we will have to ‘make time’ to do this.” He was saying their time was always filled with other things, so they would have to make time by removing something of a lower priority.

The Lord should take first place in our lives. We need to give God the first part of every day, the first day of every week. The first part of our income, first consideration in all of our decisions and first place in our hearts.

I try to reserve the first part of every day for the Lord. It is usually quiet at our place of business from seven until nine a.m. This is when my mind is the most alert. My comprehension and interpretation of the Scriptures is best during the early hours of the day. My communion with God in prayer is best before my thoughts become cluttered with handling the duties and cares of life. I have also noticed that I am more apt to receive inspiration from the Lord in the early morning hours. “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” (Mark 1:31 IV; 1:35 KJV).

Giving God the first day of every week is a commandment we should faithfully obey. Some churches hold their Lord’s Day service at various time to accommodate the people. One lady said she likes to attend on Saturday evening to “get it out of the way!” Evidently she had other things to do on Sunday. How do we properly observe the Lord’s Day? What motivates us to give God the first day of every week? Is it merely to fulfill an obligation, or do we go to the house of the Lord, as we sing: I was glad and my heart did rejoice at the sound, when the blessed invitation I heard; ‘Twas the voice of the many redeemed, and they said, let us go to the house of the Lord. With songs of thanksgiving and praise, let us go to the house of the Lord. Do we go only for the fellowship with our brothers and sisters? Or, more importantly, do we go for the fellowship of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost? Hopefully, we go for the fellowship of both.

I have learned that by giving the first fruits of our increase to the Lord we receive blessings of far greater value than that which we have given. See Malachi 3:8-10. “Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase; so shall thy barns be filled with plenty . . .” (Proverbs 3:9-10). The old adage is true: “You cannot out-give the Lord.”

Giving God first consideration in all of my decisions has proven to be a wise principle by which to live. “Counsel [with] the Lord in all thy doings and he will direct thee for good” is the good advice Alma gave to his son, Helaman (Alma 19:69).

Giving God first place in our hearts pleases him more than all other things we do for him. He asked Simon Peter three times, “Do you love me?” Each time Peter answered, “Yes.” Then Jesus asked him to feed his sheep and lambs. Above all, Jesus wants our hearts.

My love to all,
Francis Harper

BEMER Information Session

From: Brenda VanFleet

BEMER Information Session

Last Tuesday night was a great success. Thank you for all who came and participated. Tuesday, March 14th at 7:00 pm we will offer another BEMER Information Session at 201 West Lexington, located on the Independence Square. BEMER is a Class 1 Medical Device that increases general blood flow and is safe enough to be in your home. Don't miss this opportunity to see what BEMER can do for you and your loved ones.

BEMER Technology is used by NASA (will be astronaut’s spacesuits!), (professional) athletes (pre- and post- training and competition) and Medical Doctors (many of them in hospital settings in Europe) as well as a variety of health practitioners (chiropractors ,dentists, massage therapists).
BEMER sessions improve the blood flow. That’s really the basis of what it does, simple yes, but it can be life changing. Most people (young and old) will experience some level of compromised blood flow, because of inflammation, exposure to toxins, medications and chemicals, sedentary life style, smoking and alcohol consumption, STRESS, lack of sleep, improper nutrition, and aging. So BEMER’s simple action of improving blood flow has a very profound impact on the body:
*Check out Directed Minds Facebook page and see BEMER Group as the sponsor of the Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular 2017*.
Seating is limited, call and reserve your seat, 816-301-7222 See attached flyer for more information
See you Tuesday, March 14, 2017

Thank you,
Brenda

RLDS Genealogy –Do you know your Family?

------ Forwarded message ------
From: Heidi Taylor

RLDS Genealogy –Do you know your Family?

Four generations of women have been baptized, four generations of women confirmed. As I look back on my family history as a professional genealogist in Independence, Missouri, I see so much of the strength and challenges the Restoration has been through.

Since my Great Grandmother Beatrice (Beatrice Sylvia Jardo 1896-1982) met J. J. Cornish while he was on a missionary trip to Michigan. To my Grandmother Mabel (Mabel Dorothy Fisk 1928-) and her 9 siblings attending the Bentley Branch my Mother Karen (Karen Sue Meihls1948-) baptized at Sanford Branch and my baptism on December 24, 1975 in Alma, Michigan Branch, we all married men outside the church. (Heidi Lynn Powell 1967-)

Great Grandpa Toras (Toras Lewellen Fisk 1895-1973) would take Great Grandma to the front door of the church every Sunday and when it came time for Reunions at the Sanford Camp Grounds, he would get her all set up for the week and head back to Sterling to take care of the farm. He never did join the church, but was supportive of her in his love.

Grandpa Bud (Ellis Leroy Meihls 1921-1981) joined the church after marrying Grandma Mabel. He was a young Navy veteran when he came back to start work in the oil fields. When grandpa passed in 1981 he was a well respected Elder in Independence.

My dad Gerald/Jerry (Gerald Lee Powell 1948- ), was also not a church member when he married my mom in 1966 right out of Ithaca High School and employed by Oldsmobile in Lansing. He was not brought up in a church going family, even though my grandma June’s (June Marie Skinner 1928-2011) family came from a long line of Dunkard (The Dunkard Brethren have their roots in a protestant movement, known as Schwarzenau Brethren or Dunkards)

By 1975, when my family gathered to County Storehouse in Bates City, Missouri my dad had been baptized and ordained a Priest, the office he still holds today.

And now we get to my Chris, (Chris David Taylor 1964-2005) another spiritual person, but not from a religious family. Before his death in 2005, Chris had been baptized at Atherton Restoration.

By now you must be wondering why I am writing this article at this time.

Well, to answer that question….

Just this past week, Midwest Genealogy Center located here in Independence, as acquired microfilm of the deceased member’s files 1877-1995 of the RLDS Church. These contain birth, baptism, marriage, ordination, and death information. These records were previously only available at world headquarters and private branches.

For all of us family researchers, this gives us full access to look for our family data along with any other historical figure in church history. I have already started a list of people I need to look for and will be making the 3 mile trip to my favorite library very soon.

If you have any questions on finding your ancestors on the RLDS film, you can contact me, heiditaylor10134@yahoo.com or the Midwest Genealogy Center at www.mymcpl.org/genealogy where I am a volunteer.
