Will He Find Faith?

Jesus asked: “. . . When the Son of Man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8). Evidently there will be a remnant of believers when He comes. See Joel 2:32.
From the beginning, our country has been called a Christian nation. But unless the present trends within the Christianity of our country is quickly reversed we will soon become a post-Christian nation!

There are many ominous signs that our beloved nation is becoming one “whose glorious beauty is a fading flower” (Isaiah 28:1). When a flower is severed from its roots, it soon begins to fade.
What brought forth the glorious beauty of these United States? The roots of our nation developed in the “good ground” of those who received the word of God eagerly, with faith believing. An abundance of fruit resulted. “. . . some even an hundred fold . . .” (Matthew 13:7-8). We were once an ensign to the nations.
Early in our history, our citizens diligently prayed to God and read his word. Gradually, by neglecting to pray and study the Scriptures, we are severing ourselves from our roots. Prayer and study of the Bible has been banned in most of our schools. This is done with the excuse that the principle of separation of church and state requires it. This is bad enough, but even worse than this, is the failure of our churches and homes to teach our young people the importance of faith in God and his word.
When the Lord returns in the near future, will he find faith on the earth? I believe, though their numbers may be few, there will be a remnant of faithful disciples on the earth when he comes.
It will be as Paul described in Romans 11, when he wrote: “I say then, Hath God cast away [given up on] his people? God forbid.  . . . God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew, know ye not the Scripture saith of Elias [Elijah]? How he maketh complaint to God against Israel, saying, Lord, they have killed thy prophets [even as Joseph smith, Jr.], and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, (1 Kings 19:10) and they seek my life. What saith the answer of God unto him [and to us]? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace” (Romans 11:1-5).
I believe we will soon witness the fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel. I believe there is a remnant that will respond to his words to . . . sound an alarm . . .”for the day of the Lord is nigh at hand. Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly . . . Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen rule over them; wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? (Joel 2:1, 15, 17).
“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions; and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call” (Joel 2:28-32).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Ones,

When the Holy Spirit has a message for me the words are often repeated to me many times. I had asked the Lord: “Why did Jesus have to die in such a cruel way?” He answered: “Without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22). These words were repeated many times in my mind.
Another time I asked: “Will the kingdom of God ever become a reality on the earth?” A repetition of the words, “No continuing city,” came to me. These words are found in Hebrews 13:14: “For here [in this world] we have no continuing [eternal] city, but we seek one to come.”
The Holy Spirit is a good teacher. I was not familiar with these scriptures until the Holy Spirit revealed them to me in this unique way, i.e., bringing them to my mind, again and again.
On Thursday, July 16, 2020, the words: “the remnant whom the Lord shall call,” were repeated in my mind many times. By using a concordance, I was able to find the words which were being emphasized in my mind. The words: “The remnant whom the Lord shall call,” are the final words of Joel chapter two (Joel 2:32).
Evidently the prophetic words of Joel will soon be fulfilled. There are multiple witnesses of the need to sound this alarm, “for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand” (Joel 2:1). We have been called to “sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly” (Joel 2:15).
We will witness darkness, “and it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions” (Joel 2:28).
I have dreamed several dreams which may be related to prophecies of Joel. On October 28, 2013, I dreamed I was working on the farm with others, to accomplish a very necessary task, when it became dark, even though, according to the clock, it was only mid-day! Amos prophesied: “And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the sun in a clear day” (Amos 8:9). Joel also prophesied of “A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness” (Joel 2:1). The darkness described in Joel’s prophecy could be the result of a volcanic eruption.
On July 6, 2019, in a spiritual dream, I saw a young man whose face was radiant. I thought of Stephen, the first Christian martyr, who “full of faith and power, did great miracles among the people . . . And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel” (Acts 6:8, 15). How will those of “the remnant whom the Lord shall call” (Joel 2:32) appear? Will their faces be radiant?
In the same dream of July 6, 2019, I saw the water of a river, or lake, standing at two levels, even as the waters of Jordan stood “in a heap” (Joshua 3:13). “Those in the remnant whom the Lord shall call” may also be participants in miracles such as those that occurred at the time the children of Israel entered their promised land! “And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you” (Joshua 3:5). “Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly; Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children . . .” (Joel 2:15-16).

My Love to All,
High Priest Francis Harper

FASTING AND PRAYING FOR THE KINGDOM - July 30

FASTING AND PRAYING FOR THE KINGDOM - July 30

FASTING AND PRAYING FOR THE KINGDOM
JULY 30, 2020

Greetings Dear Saints Around the World,

We have been in a  pattern of fasting and praying for the Kingdom of God to come on earth. Hopefully, by now, each one is very familiar with what fasting is and scriptures to support it. This, as well as engaging in fervent, effectual prayer.

The Sixty Day Preparation period started Monday, July 27, 2020 as we prepare for the Solemn Assembly September  26-27, 2020 in Independence, Missouri.  It is hoped that each person who plans to attend the Solemn Assembly will become very familiar with the daily preparation suggestions as well as the other materials that have been provided. We have been kindly requested to make the proper preparations to attend or stay home. It is understood that many Saints will simply not be able to attend in person, but that should not hinder our preparations.

Generally, if someone has something they want to achieve, they set a goal and objectives as to how they will achieve the goal.  Two of our objectives for seeking the Kingdom of God have been fasting and prayer. We not only will continue those objectives, but how do you plan to accomplish your objectives? Goals are not reached with objectives that we just expect to happen. Plan your course of action.

The first day of the Sixty Day Preparations was :"The Basics." Sometimes we ignore the basics in an effort the reach the goal only to find we missed the mark. Vince Lombardi coached the Green Bay Packers football team to five championships in nine years. It is said that each year when the team reassembled to start a new season Coach Lombardi would bring all the players together for a team meeting. He would then hold up a football and say to the team, "Gentlemen, this is a football!"

Doctrine and Covenants 81:3d is very clear as to what God asks of us. Take time to look it up and read it, maybe daily. In Luke 14:27-28 Jesus gave us all a challenge. Look that one up as well.

God bless each of you in your daily walk. Stay on the straight and narrow path, holding to the Rod of Iron and anchored in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Fred Striley Obituary

From: Jim Schultz

Fred Striley Obituary

Obituary

Frederick F. Striley, Sr., 86, of Independence, MO, passed away on July 25, 2020.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, from 9-10am, with funeral to follow at 10am, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery.

In his memory, contributions are suggested to an organization of donor’s choice.

Fred was born on October 27, 1933, in Delta, CO, to Fred H. Striley and Bessie Rose Kubert Striley. He and his family moved to Missouri when he was a young boy. Fred began working as a teenager and didn’t stop until well into his eighties. He drove a big rig for Pacific Intermountain Express (P.I.E.) until the company closed in 1991. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor for his church, South Crysler Restoration Branch, helping with plumbing, electrical, construction, and any other odd job the church or its members needed help with. Later, he got back in the driver’s seat with Nielson Lumber Co. and drove for them for a number of years. He was a diligent, hardworking man who would always lend a hand where he could. He enjoyed gardening and spent over 32 years in Boy Scout leadership. He was a member of the Teamsters and of South Crysler Restoration Branch.

Fred married Kathryn Barber on October 12, 1956 and to this union were born four sons. Although he worked long hours, he made family time a priority. His work ethic and outgoing personality will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kathryn; sons Fred Striley Jr. (wife Catherine), Mike Striley, David Striley, and Steve Striley (wife Rebecca); grandchildren Jonathon Striley (wife Catherine), Jessica Striley, Nicole Young, Jordan Striley, Ryley Crabtree, and Claire Crabtree; one great-grandchild on the way; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Prayer Request for GBC

From: G.B. Crowther

Prayer Request for GBC

I submitted a request to the Missouri Department of Corrections (MO-DOC) Office of Professional Conduct to investigate a teaching colleague who exhibited unprofessional conduct that jeopardized the safety and security of our state institution (Western Missouri Correctional Center)(the state prison at Cameron, Missouri). I documented four (4) very specific incidents of unprofessional conduct. The state said they will investigate the allegations. Now this teacher has claimed the incidents never happened and she is retaliating against me. She is making false allegations and has asked for an investigation of me! Please pray for wisdom and discernment on the part of the state investigator and that the truth may be revealed to all.

Thank you.

Glenn Crowther
