Need Financial Assistance - Tumor/Cancer Treatment

Need Financial Assistance - Tumor/Cancer Treatment
Dear Brethren and Sisters,
I am pleading for financial assistance for expenses incurred from a large tumor. I have found a homeopathic remedy that is reducing the tumor but need at least $550 to get me to the next paycheck. I must work three jobs to make ends meet through these challenges at this time but will loose all my jobs if unable to work. I am not choosing any traditional cancer treatments because the last physician I saw told me that even if the tumor is removed in a lumpectomy it will only extend my pain and suffering and that there is not much they can do for me at this point. He said that I had two months before the tumor would break through the skin and that would be the beginning of the end for me. But I do not scare easy because I know that God has already promised me I will not die from this. However, I am suffering and not financially prepared for this massive expense at this time. I have no benefits at work anyway and will have no way to pay my bills and continue to pay for my health insurance if I take off work for any surgery. I am striving to heal my body and believe God has led me to these answers; as well as being grateful to those who have suffered before me to find methods that work.
That was two months ago, and I have finally started to make some progress, because the tumor is starting to reduce in size; but I have run out of money. I ran out of the product for six hours last Saturday, and the tumor started growing again and spewing a great deal of pain within my body and had to leave work early, as I was not able to work in that much pain. I was able to receive some assistance in getting the needed product before my second job that day. I was able to work through the weekend; but will be out of product again in 1-2 more days. I need to order the product tomorrow and expedite the shipping for the next day. This is life and death for me and have run out of other options. If someone feels they could provide a small loan to me, I will try to repay as soon as I can. Please give me a call at 816-808-6242 and leave a message or contact me through my email at carolynwright2012@gmail.com. This method will cost $3,000/month until the tumor is gone. Others that have shared testimonials regarding this method have explained that their tumor was gone within a month, so I'm hoping to win the fight. I am very much in need of any financial assistance through this challenging time.
Kind Regards,
Carolyn Wright

Wringer Washer

Wringer Washer
Would anyone have an old wringer washing machine I might have, borrow or buy?
I want to use it so it needs to be in some working order. However, It doesn't have to work like a washing machine today. All I need is the wringer part and the tub below the wringer. The wringer doesn't need to be run by electricity. I've seen them with a handle to turn to put the clothes through the wringer. I'd really rather have the hand operated one if possible as I am so slow and not as coordinated as I used to be. The tub doesn't need to move - just hold water until it needs to be emptied. I could put a plastic liner in the tub if it leaks if necessary.
If anyone has one, or knows of someone who might, I would appreciate knowing about it please.
Thanks.

The Education Council has been revived and is actively engaged in keeping the Saints informed about educational materials that are available and any new items that might be forthcoming. The Council of 2003 revised and produced many of the old quarterlies from the past. These are still available and will be featured in the next regular issue of Tidings of Zion.
The Pastors of Zion (POZ) Summer Series continues each Sunday night through August 12 at Waldo Avenue RB. This is a great time for the Saints to gather in mass. People keep talking about ONE time back in the 90's when Waldo was packed to the limit. Why hasn't that happened again, several times? If the Summer Series is sponsored by 16 Branches, where are the Saints? It surely wouldn't hurt if 16 Branches closed their own Branch a time or two during the Series and "packed the house"; Saints of the Center Place, let's come out in force and support the YOUTH SERVICE on August 12, 2018, 6:00 pm at Waldo Avenue RB-CPRS.

A Bit of Homely Philosophy
A philosopher said, once, that we could not prevent the birds from flying over our heads, but we could prevent them from building nests in our hair. We may not always be able to force or keep our thoughts altogether in subjection; but we can prevent them from making us do or say what is reprehensible. He
that overcometh himself, you know, is greater than he that taketh a city. Do not let those evil or pernicious thoughts find lodgment, any of them, brethren, in your hearts, to continue there. Joseph Smith III, Conference Minutes, 1907.

that overcometh himself, you know, is greater than he that taketh a city. Do not let those evil or pernicious thoughts find lodgment, any of them, brethren, in your hearts, to continue there. Joseph Smith III, Conference Minutes, 1907.

Francis Harper Message for 7/27/2018
Dear Ones,
We need to beware of levity in our speaking to one another. Living our lives in the way Jesus taught us to live, is serious business. Jesus lived for others. He died for others. He calls us to a similar sacrificial life-style.
Lucy Mack Smith, mother of Joseph Smith, Jr., wrote: “I presume our family presented an aspect as singular as any that ever lived upon the face of the earth – all seated in a circle, father, mother, sons and daughters, giving the most profound attention to a boy, eighteen years of age – Joseph, Jr.”(They Were Good People, p 7).
Edmund Briggs wrote of his parental family: “Those evenings spent with the family, reading the precious words about the restoration gospel left a deep impression upon the mind of this young lad” (They Were Good People, p 106). Throughout his life, he remembered the teachings he received in his early youth.
The youthful Briggs noticed a change in the elders after the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, Jr. “Their manner seemed light and frivolous . . . a great contrast to the humble, meek manner I had always observed in the ministers of the church before” (the death of the prophet) (They Were Good People, p 108).
I observed a similar change in the appointee elders shortly before we left the church in the mid 1980’s. Life for many families, even within the church, had become a matter of seeking for fun; fun, fun. How tragic! “yea, and there shall be many which shall say, “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die; and it shall be well with us” (2 Nephi 12:9).
We should not preach, teach, or converse to entertain. People like to be entertained. Paul counseled Timothy, Preach the word; be instant in season . . . reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
The people who have achieved a zionic condition have been described: “. . . there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people. And there were no envyings, nor strifes, nor tumults, nor whoredoms, nor lyings, nor murders . . . and surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God” (4 Nephi 1:17-19).
When the gospel of Jesus Christ is properly preached and practiced zionic conditions will come again on the earth. It has happened before and it will happen again. It has been prophesied: “. . . the angel said unto them, fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people” (Luke 2:10). “And this is mine everlasting covenant, that when thy posterity shall embrace the truth and look upward, then shall Zion look downward, and all the heavens shall shake with gladness and the earth shall tremble with joy” (Genesis 9:22 IV).
My Love to All,

Watch Your Words
“ . . . if you do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts and your words, and your deeds, and observe to keep the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of the Lord, even to the end of your lives, ye must perish” (Mosiah 3:49).
The sum of men’s capabilities is limited to his thoughts, words and deeds. We sing “God send us men . . . to live out the laws of right in every thought and word and deed” (Hymns of the Restoration, 99).
We will be held accountable for our words as we will be for our deeds. “Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:31 IV; 12:36 KJV). “By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned” (Matthew 12:32 IV; 12:37 KJV).
The Lord hears every word we speak and they are recorded! “Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another; and the Lord hearkened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him . . .” (Malachi 3:16). We need to choose the words we speak carefully and wisely. Words can hurt. They can also help and heal. “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold . . .” (Proverbs 25:11).
Paul understood the importance of that which we speak. He counseled Timothy to “shun profane and vain babblings; for they will increase unto more ungodliness . . . foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle unto all men. . .” (2 Timothy 2:16, 23-24).
Paul was valiant in testimony wherever and whenever he was given an opportunity to speak. He eloquently shared his testimony with King Agrippa, “At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? . . . And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus . . . rise, and stand upon thy feet; for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness . . . unto whom now I send thee, to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision” (Acts 26:13-19).
Paul affirmed: “I speak forth the words of truth and soberness” (Acts 26:25). We who have been blessed to receive a testimony of Jesus should avail ourselves at every opportunity, even as Paul, to speak forth the words of truth and soberness. We will be held accountable if we fail to do this! We should not be engaged in light and frivolous chatter when the immortal lives of men and women are being weighed in the balance of divine justice!
The path to eternal salvation must be clearly and simply explained in words that even a child can understand. Nephi said, “I glory in plainness; I glory in truth” (2 Nephi 15:7).

Prayer request for Elder Walter Baker
Walter has an inflection in his left foot that has moved into the bone. He visited his doctors office yesterday and was scheduled at the wound clinic for a pencil size sore that had appeared. This afternoon it opened up to just over a quarter in size and really bad smelling. They left for the hospital and were given the bad news The doctors are planning an aggressive treatment in an effort to prevent the loss of his other leg. We are asking for continued unceasing prayers on his behalf and also for his wife Jane. This is as hard on her as it is Walter.

Trying to find a Christian Physician
I am requesting a plea sent out to members of the church, to help me find a Christian primary care physician. I would also appreciate any other type of physician referrals that will respect ones right to belief in prayer and personal revelation without psychoanalyzing the validity of that belief within your medical records, as it pertains to an individual's physical choices.
Please send referrals to carolynwright2012@gmail.com or call @ 816-808-6242 (please leave message -- this is not a cell phone). Please include your name and contact information with your referral so that I may call you back with additional questions.
Thank you.

TUTORING
Do you struggle with BIOLOGY, or MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY? How about HUMAN ANATOMY, or KINESIOLOGY?
HEAD GAME TUTORING… We don’t play the typical head games. Instead we “Exercise your brain.”
Studies have shown that students of all ages can have difficulties with the desire or motivation to learn. HEADGAMES is a unique way of tutoring that uses a technique to exercise the brain. Headgames teaches through activity and motor learning.
As an instructor, I teach individual techniques to address each student with their own learning style.
I utilize different sensory abilities that are individualized for each student, whether it be auditory, visual or through kinesiology.
For example:
Auditory-learn by hearing and listening. Examples are pair and share, lecture, student repeats teaching, etc.
Visual-learn by seeing and watching. Examples include video, television, and classmate performance
Kinesthetic-learn by doing hands-on activities, manipulating and muscle movement.
Please call me at (816) 589-0100 to schedule an appointment, or for more information.

The laptop needs to have Windows, a DVD drive/burner, and be capable of running standard applications like Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, Windows Media Player, etc.
If you have a decent laptop that you would be willing to donate or sell, please contact us. There are other opportunities to take one over later, but we’d like to have one in time for Eric to go home around the 10th of August.

If you have a decent laptop that you would be willing to donate or sell, please contact us. There are other opportunities to take one over later, but we’d like to have one in time for Eric to go home around the 10th of August.
Thank you!

Francis Harper Message for 7/20/2018
Dear Ones,
Have you ever wondered how the Lord feels about your thoughts? As he said; “I the Lord search the heart . . .” (Jeremiah 17:10). We need the Holy Spirit to help us recognize how our thoughts appear to God. “God cannot look upon sin (or sinful thoughts) with the least degree of allowance; nevertheless, he that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven” (Doctrine and Covenants 1:5-f).
Perhaps we have not considered that we will be held accountable for our sinful thoughts, such as lusting and coveting, even as we are accountable for our sinful deeds? Jesus said, “Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye make clean the outside of the cup, and of the platter; but within they are full of extortion and excess. Ye blind Pharisees! Cleanse first the cup and platter within, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye are like whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but are within full of the bones of the dead, and of all uncleaness. Even so, ye also appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity” (Matthew 23:22-25 IV; 23:25-28 KJV).
Our faith can be measured by the extent to which our thoughts of material things are being replaced by thoughts of eternal things. Our faith or lack of faith can be measured by the amount of time we spend worrying and fearing about our tomorrows.
“If suddenly upon the street, my gracious Savior I should meet . . . His eye would pierce my outward show, His thought my inmost thought would know; And if I said, “I love thee Lord,” He would not heed my spoken word unless my daily life should tell that verily I loved Him well” (Hymns of the Restoration, 354).
“Perhaps one of the most uplifting examples of a Christian whose thought life was saturated with God’s presence and God’s love was John Fletcher, a co-worker of John Wesley, who was said by Wesley to be the godliest person he had ever known.
“Fletcher’s thoughts were so full of prayer and praise that his greetings when meeting one of his friends was, Do I meet you praying? He was said to labor constantly “to bring every thought into captivity in obedience to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).
“As Fletcher lay dying his thoughts were filled with God. Again and again he said, God is love! It fills me every moment! God is love! Shout! Shout aloud!” Taken from the book, Measure Your Life, by Wesley L Duewell. 1992.
If our thoughts are always filled with images of Jesus and his virtues, our lives will be changed into Christ-likeness. And “when he shall appear, we shall be like him . . . And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself as he is pure” (1 John 3:2-3).
“Let the wicked man forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:7).
My Love to All,
Francis Harper

Watch Your Thoughts
“. . . if you do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds,
and observe to keep the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard
concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish” (Mosiah
3:49).
Our thoughts are the source from which our words and deeds flow. Jesus said: “. . . out of
the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man, out of the good treasure of the
heart, bringeth forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure, bringeth forth evil
things” (Matthew 12:29-30 IV; 12:34-35 KJV). If our thoughts are good we will speak good
words and our doings will also be good. As a man “thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs
23:7).
David the psalmist wrote: “Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me, and know my
thoughts; And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm
139:23-24).
Lyrics of a favorite hymn come to mind:
“Think of the beautiful, Think of the true;
Though like an avalanche sin sweeps over you;
Keep not the multitude, sort them with care,
Testing by purity, purging by prayer,
Think of the beautiful, Think of the fair”
(Hymns of the Restoration, 226).
It has been said, evil thoughts are somewhat like birds;
They come flying into your head but you don’t need to let
them build a nest there! We need to quickly shoo evil thoughts
out of our minds! If we think beautiful thoughts, it is likely that
we will talk of beautiful things. The next verse of the song
begins: “Talk of the beautiful . . . .” The final verse begins:
“”Live for the beautiful . . . lifting the fallen as Christ lifted
you.”
Jesus knows our thoughts. A book of remembrance is kept “for them that feared the Lord and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him” (Malachi 3:16-17).
“Jesus saw Nathanael coming unto him, and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael said unto him, whence knowest thou me? Jesus answering said unto him, . . . when thou wast under the fig tree I saw thee” (John 1:47-48). Nothing about us is hidden from God. He knows even our thoughts.
Our thoughts are hidden from everyone except God. The thoughts of our mind have been compared to a picture gallery. Would you want your mother, or your spouse, to walk through the picture gallery of your mind? Would you open it for all to see?
Finally, bretheren, whatsoever things are true; whatsoever things are honest; whatsoever things are just; whatsoever things are pure; whatsoever things are lovely; whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”
(Philippians 4:8).

Sewing Machines Needed
W2W (Women to Women) supplies sewing machines to give impoverished women opportunities to supplement their income. This program requires that 10% of the proceeds made from their sewing business go toward purchase of another machine for another woman somewhere in the world.
Currently, the sewing project has all been overseas in Africa. However, we have an opportunity to share right here in the United States.
A team is going to the Indian Reservation next week and has told us of a need for women on the Reservation that know how to sew and would very much appreciate a sewing machine. We need to have the machine or donations no later than Sunday the 22nd.
We would like to see if anyone has a sewing machine that they would like to donate or would like to donate specifically for this cause.
Please contact Penny Curtis for more details or to let her know if you need to have a machine picked up. 816-254-3335

Joseph's Grove Vision - Painting
Dear, Saints,
Recently, Jim VunCannon of the Remnant Church approached me about doing a Restoration version of Joseph’s Grove Vision. Everything came together by the Holy Spirit to accomplish the work in an amazingly short time of two months. This included finding models for the figures and a photographer to shoot the visual reference. Doing this painting was an amazing experience, and whetted my desire to tackle other painting subjects and themes from our Restoration perspective. Karen Hacker, the photographer who provided her studio and professional expertise to create visual reference for the work, also was energized by the project and wants us to collaborate in other high quality illustrated works. We both came away from the photo shoot really excited about creating a body of illustrations for all Restoration Saints to use and share with other.
The Remnant Church has expressed interest in commissioning more paintings like the one attached to help produce this much needed body of Restoration work for the benefit and use of all Restoration groups. Though I am not a member of the Remnant, I am so grateful to the leadership of the Remnant Church for their desire to choose this way to help bring all the factions back together once again. Please pray for us all as we move forward in this endeavor together. We all want to be a blessing for the emerging Kingdom’s sake.
Prints are available for sale. Please see the attached list of sizes and suggested donations. I hold the copyright and would ask that no copies be made of the image without my permission. Your support in purchasing prints will help provide the funding for future works. Paintings of this kind of work require considerable expense for the photographer’s studio, time, and models to properly execute the visual reference, as well as the artist’s supplies and time. You will find my contact information is in the heading and also below with the price list.
Thank you, and God bless you all in your Kingdom building efforts,
Muriel Luedeman

Painting Joseph’s Vision of God in the Grove
Muriel Winn Luedeman
July 12, 2018
Sister Joan Vun Cannon and her son, Jim, approached me in late 2017 or early 2018 about
doing a commission painting of Joseph Smith, Jr’s, vision in the grove for The Remnant Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I didn’t think I could do it justice without adequate photographic
reference material for such a painting, and so I passed it up. However, that problem resolved itself in
March and April. I agreed to take on the challenge.
The vision accounts vary considerably, and frankly, I was rather perplexed, wondering how to create an image of what actually occurred in the grove. I spent time in prayer, and even asked for my own vision. I do believe that God, being no respecter of persons, would show Himself to anyone as He did to Joseph. Joseph was a mere farm boy. What God could do for him, He can, and will do for all his seeking children. That request was not granted, however. I believe that by studying it out, I gained clarity and confirmation on the event, and received some amazing Divine insights about our Heavenly Father, Yahweh, and Yehoshua, His Son.
Joseph described what he saw in different ways. In one account, there was no mention of two
personages. Another version he said there were two. Does that negate the experience as false? That
was my quandary at first. I don’t believe it does prove the vision false, for depicting the mystery of
the God Head can be done many ways, and none would be considered false.
There is no doubt, by Jesus’ own words, that there is the Father, and the Son. The Father declared in Genesis, “Let us make man in our image.” God, the Father spoke at Jesus’ baptism, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Jesus prayed to his Father for his followers at Passover, and then for himself in the garden. He also talked about going to the Father after He rose from the dead.
It seemed important for this painting to illustrate the Father and the Son together, yet separately in their relationship to each other and with Joseph. In one account the Father said, “This is my beloved Son; hear him.” In addition, it didn’t seem out of line to depict God the Father with gray hair. I also wanted to capture an expression of love and compassion, even pity in the faces of Yehoshua and Yahweh, for they knew what this young boy’s life was going to be after this experience. There is a smile, but there is also understanding, sorrow, and deep, loving regard for
Joseph’s future sacrifice.
Joseph recounted that an evil presence engulfed him as he began to pray. The pose I chose to capture was after Joseph saw the shaft of light and was engulfed in the loving presence of Jesus and
the Father. He must have had great relief being delivered from the deadly evil presence. He raises his arms to God, as a child who reaches for his earthly father to be rescued from a physical threat.
Yahweh’s right hand rests on Yehoshua’s shoulder, showing the loving bond between them.
In the Father’s left hand are crease lines that naturally appear, but what came out of my brush to
describe the lines was a faint cross. In conferring with the Jim Vun Cannon and Kevin Romer at the
painting approval, Brother Romer wanted to leave the cross lines as they are. We all felt that truly, if
Jesus and God the Father are One, then nail prints in the Father’s hands would signify the pain the
Father experienced too, when His Son hung on the cross.
For me, the painting personalizes for the viewer the LOVE God has for all of His Children, and instantaneously appears when they cry out in doubt and fear. He has compassion for what we all
go through in life, and He is always, always with us, ready to receive us into his loving arms.
I am so grateful to The Remnant Church for this painting commission. The Remnant Church
leadership and I want all Restoration branches to have access to the image for publications and
projections, so it is available free of charge. I may be contacted at: mur620@gmail.com
My thanks also to Karen Hacker for her studio, expertise, and time spent photographing models for reference, and thanks to Troy and Mike Lassen, and Christian Davis for modeling for this project.

Francis Harper Message for 7/13/2018
Dear Ones,
Even if we do not have a strong faith and testimony of the truth and reality of a living God, we can believe in the testimony of others until we receive our own. Jesus said: “Blessed are they who shall believe on me; and again, more blessed are they who shall believe on your words, when ye shall testify that ye have seen me and that I am” (Matthew 5:3 IV).
You can believe in the testimony of men like Peter. His testimony is recorded in 2 Peter 1:16-17. “For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-witnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.”
You can believe in the testimony of Joseph Smith, Jr. His testimony is recorded in Church History, Vol. 1, p 9. “After I had retired into the place where I had previously designed to go, having looked around me and finding myself alone, I kneeled down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God. I had scarcely done so when immediately I was seized upon by some power which entirely overcame me, and had such astonishing influence over me as to bind my tongue so that I could not speak. . . . But exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy . . . just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun; which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two personages (whose brightness and glory defy all description) standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name, and said, (pointing to the other,) This is my beloved Son, hear him.”
The truth of Joseph’s testimony was confirmed to me during a visit, at the Sacred Grove, near Palmyra, New York in the summer of 1997. While there I was led to two tables of stone; replicas of the tables of stone given to Moses on Mount Sinai. See Exodus 32:15-16.
You can believe in the testimony of Sundar Singh of India. His testimony is recorded in Nepal and the Gospel of God. Lindell, p 84-86. This young lad had an above average hunger for spiritual things and prayed to know God and his salvation. He wrote, “I got up at three in the morning, and after bathing, I prayed that if there was a God at all He would reveal Himself to me, and show me the way of salvation, and end this unrest of my soul. I firmly made up my mind that, if this prayer was not answered, I would before daylight go down to the railway, and place my head on the line before the incoming train. I remained till about half past four praying and waiting and expecting to see Krishna or Buddha, or some other Avatar of the Hindu religion; they appeared not, but a light was shining in the room. I opened the door to where it came from, but all was dark outside. I returned inside, and the light increased in intensity and took the form of a globe of light above the ground, and in this light there appeared, not the form I expected, but the living Christ whom I had counted as dead. To all eternity I shall never forget His glorious and loving face, nor the few words which he spoke. My heart was filled with inexpressible joy and peace, and my whole life was entirely changed.”
“Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about (surrounded) with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; . . .” (Hebrews 12: 1-2).
Love to All,

“Have Faith In God”
“And Jesus spake and said unto him, Have faith in God (Mark 11:24 IV; 11:22 KJV).
Paul wrote: . . . without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must
believe that his is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6).
On one occasion Jesus said to his disciples, O faithless and perverse generation! how
long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer (put up with) you? (Matthew 17:17). At another
time Jesus expressed his disappointment in the faith of his disciples, he asked them, “why are ye
fearful, O ye of little faith?” After his resurrection as he walked with two of his disciples toward
the village of Emmaus, Jesus said to them, “O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the
prophets have spoken!” (Luke 24:24 IV; 24:25 KJV). It is obvious that Jesus expects his
disciples to have faith in God and in the Scriptures that testify of him.
Is Jesus satisfied with the level of faith in his disciples today? Paul wrote of the faith of
Abraham: “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith,
giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to
perform. And therefore it was imputed (credited) to him for righteousness . . . and for us also, to
whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead”
(Romans 4:20-24).
We could be called the “Doubting Thomas” generation. Thomas, one of the twelve, was absent, when
after the resurrection Jesus appeared to the other disciples. Thomas was told by them, “We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them; then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but
believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed; blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed (John 20:25-29). “And when they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted (Matthew 28: 16 IV; 28:17 KJV). The same could be said today.
Jesus asked: “. . . when the Son of Man cometh shall he find faith on the earth?” As we
observe the diminishing numbers of true believers in our communities, the Lord’s question is
becoming more pertinent day by day. “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. . . And let him
that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely . . . Even so, come,
Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:17, 20).
Until the Lord comes, those who believe must continue to encourage the unbelievers to
have faith in God. Alma’s “lecture on faith” may be a good place to begin. He wrote: “Yea, there
are many who do say, if thou wilt shew unto us a sign from heaven, then we shall know of a
surety; then we shall believe . . . But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to
an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith; yea, even if ye can no more than
desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe . . .” (Alma 16:139, 151).
