Supplies needed for Indian Reservation Trip
Dear, Saints,
First Fruits Prayer Group (Temple Lot daily) is partnering with Team Jesus, a Jesus/Kingdom Now focused mobile ministry that serves the immediate and extended needs of the homeless to help them rebuild their lives, to assist an elderly Native American Christian woman at Standing Rock Reservation near Bismarck, North Dakota. (Check Team Jesus out on the internet.) Brian and Yvonne Carline are the pastors.
A trip is planned for this Thanksgiving weekend to Bismarck, to help Joyce Kitson, an elderly, fragile Native American grandmother trying to minister to her people. Our focus is to bring the love of Jesus to those she minsters to, and provide items that will help her people establish cottage industries. We are requesting the following items to take with us:
Sewing Machines
Sewing Thread
Tools
Scissors
Nippers
Pliers
Musical Instruments
Children’s Recorders
Native American flutes
Native drums
Guitars
Art supplies
Acrylic paint
Brushes
Sketch and painting pads
Drawing pencils
Erasers
Charcoal
Pastel sets
Crayola colored pencils
Glue guns and hot glue
Sleeping bags
Blankets
Emergency thermal blankets made of durable insulating Mylar-type material, (The internet has one site that has them for $1.25)
Coats
Hats
Gloves
Non-perishable foods
Visa Gift Cards (To assist with gas and expenses for the volunteers)
(More needs may be made known in later emails.)
Please pray for Joyce Kitson and her mission to take care of her people. Joyce has been lifted up by First Fruits for many months. She is not a Restoration believer, however her work with the poorest of people is worthy of support. First Fruits is grateful to Team Jesus volunteers who have some along side to assist in this mission. They will be establishing ongoing, consistent help this first trip to Bismarck.
The volunteers will tentatively leave Independence, Wednesday, November 21 and return Sunday, November 25. Items should be turned in by Monday, November 19.

An apology from Paul: In my overwhelming desire to invite you to view my updated website for new RLDS books, I neglected to tell you where the party is being held.
Please go to NEWBOOKMAN.BLOGSPOT.COM to see the display. If you forget that, just google for “Newbookman” and “RLDS” together.
Thanks for your patience with me. I was becoming a bit impatient because no one had sent me a note of cheer. Perhaps no one wanted to mention the obvious!

NEW RLDS BOOKS FROM NEWBOOKMAN
I want to invite you to preview my updated website for new books supporting the RLDS tradition. I've been working hard to make the site more user friendly and to display the new books better.
It's not quite like picking up a book and reading a few pages--but it's close! For most of the books, you can choose to see a preview of pages, read some of the text, and have a better idea if the books will meet your needs.
Or perhaps they will be exactly what you want to order as a gift for someone you love.
Please take a look and navigate through a few books. Even if you don't order, please send me a note and tell me if you like the new look and feel. Or let me know what else I can do to improve your browsing or shopping experience.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a variety of good books to the Saints.

AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS
NOVEMBER, 2018
Around and About the Centre Place by High Priest Paul J. Gage, Independence, Missouri.
November greetings to all the wonderful Saints in the land down under. It is hard to believe that we only have two more months in 2018. This has certainly been a most unusual year, at least in the USA, in many ways. As a singing group, years ago, sang, “For the times, they are a changing.” The one area in our lives that should only change for the better and grow stronger every day, is our relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. As long as we work diligently to keep that relationship steadfast and sure, we can handle what the adversary and/or the world throws at us. We have a hymn entitled, “O God, Our Help, in ages past, our Hope for years to come.” speaks of time as an ever rolling stream that carries everything away. But our hope is in Jesus Christ and He has a plan for us of us, while on this earth, and in the here-after.
Another hymn, “Father, When In Love to Thee,” speaks of time- that is, our stewardship of time. It asks God to forgive us for the “times we’ve stood, for the things of lesser good. And for stewardship of time, we have spent, unlinked with thine.” Many times, we all complain, and say, “I don’t have enough time!” I have heard several references to Elbert A. Smith and Arthur Oakman, who, when men of the priesthood complained about working all day and coming home to take care of things around the house, and so forth.
The response was, All those men you work with have the same obligations you have, and they still find time to go to the bars, sports events, etc. “People do what they want to do.” If I don’t want to go to church, the slightest little thing can keep me away. On the other hand, if I want to go to church, there is essentially nothing, within my own power and agency, that can keep me away.
Some will say, “Yes, that’s ok, for you, but you don’t know my circumstances. That is totally true, BUT God knows your circumstances and another line of that hymn states, “In the midst of sin and strife, teach us how to live a life, marked by graces of new birth. Worthy of Thy Saints on earth.” Fall events are taking place around the Centre area. Each weekend in October and up into November, young people of various ages came together at Odessa Hills Campgrounds near Odessa, Missouri for fall retreats… These campgrounds are owned and operated by the ten Restoration Branches that make up the Central Missouri area.
In months that have five Sundays the Pastors of Zion (POZ) host a 5th Sunday Service at Waldo Avenue RB. The last one was September 30, 2018. It was live streamed and well worth watching. All the Sunday morning services at Waldo are live streamed, as well as several other branches. You can generally go to the website of any branch by typing in the name of the branch and location. A great number of Restoration Branches have websites.
Center Place Restoration School, (CPRS) is off to a good start in another school year. The enrollment in K-12 is about 175 students. it is one of the very few Christian schools still operating in the Independence area.
The Missionary Boards are all functioning well and had missions in Kenya, India/Nepal and the
Philippines in mid to late October 2018. There will be other missions to various parts of the world in 2019. The SEAAM Board seeks input from the priesthood and membership of Australia to help determine what ministry may be available in 2019.

AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS
Riches From The Scriptures. by Elder Neil Kerswell, Queensland,Australia. Volume 3. Chapter 22 Church History Part 4.
As a reminder of where we were last time, John the Baptist brought back the Aaronic Priesthood to the earth. This priesthood was conferred upon Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. Baptism was instituted and the Spirit of God came into Joseph and Oliver’s lives as they rose out of the water. This Spirit opened their minds to understand scriptures to a greater depth than they ever had known before.
Church History Vol 1 Chapter 5 Page 59 – Melchisedec Priesthood
1829 - AFTER the thrilling events related in the last chapter occurred another of the most important events of this dispensation; of elder in the higher or Melchisedec priesthood; which priesthood, according to a subsequent revelation, holds “the keys of all the spiritual blessings of the church; to have the privilege of receiving the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; to have the heavens opened unto them; to commune with the general assembly and church of the firstborn; and to enjoy the communion and presence of God the Father, and Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant.”-Doctrine & Covenants 104: 9.
What transports of peace, what exultant praise, what overwhelming joy must have filled their souls, if they realized the import of all the promises enumerated here! But probably they did not; but few men, if any, ever do. It furnishes food for a lifetime of careful thought. It gives occasion for a lifetime of the most triumphant joy that the mind of humanity can experience. It causes man to feel that heaven is nearer, and earth more blessed. It gives him a higher regard for honor and purity; and yet it admonishes him to be virtuous and humble, lest he be unworthy of such exalted and desirable privileges.
Let us again hear Joseph while he relates this remarkable event: - [Page 60] “Meantime we continued to translate, at intervals, when not necessitated to attend to the numerous inquirers, that now began to visit us; some for the sake of finding the truth, others for the purpose of putting hard questions, and trying to confound us. Among the latter class were several learned
priests who generally came for the purpose of disputation: however the Lord continued to pour out upon us his Holy Spirit, and as often as we had need, he gave us in that moment what to say; so that although unlearned, and inexperienced in religious controversies, yet were we able to confound those learned Rabbis of the day, whilst at the same time, we were enabled to convince the honest in heart, that we had obtained (through the mercy of God) to the true and everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ, so that almost daily we administered the ordinance of baptism for the remission of sins, to such as believed. We now became anxious to have that promise realized to us, which the angel that conferred upon us the Aaronic priesthood had given us; viz., that provided we continued faithful we should also have the Melchisedec priesthood, which holds the authority of the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. We had for some time made this matter a subject of humble prayer, and at length we got together in the chamber of Mr. Whitmer’s house in order more particularly to seek of the Lord what we now so earnestly desired: and here to our unspeakable satisfaction did we realize the truth of the Savior’s promise; ‘Ask, and you shall receive, seek, and you shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you;’ for we had not long been engaged in solemn and fervent prayer when the word of the Lord came unto us in the chamber, commanding us that I should ordain Oliver Cowdery to be an elder in the Church of Jesus Christ, and that he also should ordain me to the same office, and then to ordain others as it should be made known unto us, from time to time: we were, however, commanded to defer this our ordination until such times as it should be practicable to have our brethren, who had been and who should be baptized, assembled together, when we must have their sanction to our thus proceeding to ordain each other and have them [Page 61] decide by vote whether they were willing to accept us as spiritual teachers, or not, when also we were commanded to bless bread and break it with them, and to take wine, bless it, and drink it with them, afterward proceed to ordain each other according to commandment, then call out such men as the
Spirit should dictate, and ordain them, and then attend to the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost upon all those whom we had previously baptized; doing all things in the name of the Lord.”-Times and Seasons, vol. 3, p. 915.
Peter James and John - Some have supposed that they received two ordinations; one under the hands of Peter, James, and John, and one by each other; but it is scarcely supposable that they would fail to mention so important an item. There is no historical evidence of such an event. Nor is there any evidence that [Page 65] Peter, James, and John were present, either when the instruction was given to ordain or when the ordination actually took place. The only historical account of their appearance is in the epistle quoted from above, and the place of that appearance is definitely given as between Harmony, Susquehanna County (Pennsylvania), and Colesville, Broome County (New York) while the place of instruction concerning ordination, as also the ordination itself, was at Fayette, Seneca County (New York). It is not safe then to write historically that Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were ever ordained literally under the hands of Peter, James, and John. He who does so writes recklessly and without sufficient evidence upon which to base his conclusion.
I have tried to say little here as the historians are giving their views. I personally believe Peter James and John at the very least were in charge and guiding events as the authority of the Melchisedec Priesthood was restored again to the earth. It is good to note here that Joseph and Oliver were not to be Ordained until the baptised membership of the church where they were, had opportunity to vote as to whether they would receive them to be their teachers in Spiritual things. This is very good because it upholds and respects the agency of God’s people, with the added blessing of being an added safeguard to protect the church from corrupt leadership forcing their will upon the Lord’s people. Let’s look at D&C 26 2A-3G in relation to Peter James and John and others - [Sec 26:2a] Behold, this is wisdom in me; wherefore marvel not, for the hour cometh that I will drink of the fruit of the vine with you on the earth, and with Moroni, whom I have sent unto you to reveal the Book of Mormon, containing the fullness of my everlasting
gospel;
[Sec 26:2b] to whom I have committed the keys of the record of the stick of Ephraim; and also with Elias, to whom I have committed the keys of bringing to pass the restoration of all things, or the restorer of all things spoken by the mouth of all the holy prophets since the world began, concerning the last days; [Sec 26:2c] and also John the son of Zacharias, which Zacharias he (Elias) visited and gave promise that he should have a son, and his name should be John, and he should be filled with the spirit of Elias; [Sec 26:2d] which John I have sent unto you, my servants, Joseph Smith, Jr., and Oliver Cowdery, to
ordain you unto this first priesthood which you have received, that you might be called and ordained even as Aaron; [Sec 26:2e] and also Elijah, unto whom I have committed the keys of the power of turning the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers, that the whole earth may not be smitten with a curse; [Sec 26:2f] and also with Joseph, and Jacob, and Isaac, and Abraham, your fathers; by whom the promises remain; and also with Michael, or Adam, the father of all, the prince of all, the ancient of days.
[Sec 26:3a] And also with Peter, and James, and John, whom I have sent unto you, by whom I have ordained you and confirmed you to be apostles and especial witnesses of my name, and bear the keys of your ministry; [Sec 26:3b] and of the same things which I revealed unto them; unto whom I have committed the keys of my kingdom, and a dispensation of the gospel for the last times;
[Sec 26:3c] and for the fullness of times, in the which I will gather together in one all things, both which are in heaven and which are on earth; and also with all those whom my Father hath given me out of the world; [Sec 26:3d] wherefore lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armour, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all ye may be able to stand. [Sec 26:3e] Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, which I have sent mine angels to commit unto you, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked;
[Sec 26:3f] and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of my Spirit, which I will pour out upon you, and my word which I reveal unto you, and be agreed as touching all things whatsoever ye ask of me, [Sec 26:3g] and be faithful until I come, and ye shall be caught up, that where I am ye shall be also.
Amen.
One of the truly amazing things about the Restoration is that we believe that in and through God, we are united with all the believers who have gone before us and those who shall come after us. We are all one in the Lord according to his Grace and Love and our desire to be with Him and His creation in a life of obedience. May our hearts be turned to our Fathers and our Fathers be turned to us. We are a generation in great need of help from God and the prayers and blessings of those who have gone before us, especially in relation to the promises associated with the days in which we live. Let’s look at a little more from Church History.
Page 64 Joseph and Oliver agree as to their being commanded of God to ordain each other; also as to the fact that they did so ordain. Joseph states in an epistle written at Nauvoo, September 6, 1842, that he heard the voice of Peter, James, and John, but says nothing of such an event as their laying hands on them. His statement is as follows: - “And again, what do we hear? Glad tidings of Cumorah! Moroni, an angel from heaven, declaring the fulfilment of the prophets-the book to be revealed. A voice of the Lord in the wilderness of Fayette, Seneca County, declaring the three witnesses to bear record of the book. The voice of Michael on the banks of the Susquehanna, detecting the Devil when he appeared as an angel of light. The voice of Peter,
James, and John, in the wilderness between Harmony, Susquehanna County, and Colesville, Broome
County, on the Susquehanna River, declaring themselves as possessing the keys of the kingdom, and of the dispensation of the fullness of times. And again, the voice of God in the chamber of old Father Whitmer, in Fayette, Seneca County,” etc.-Doctrine and Covenants 110: 20, 21. (See also Times and Seasons, vol. 3, pp. 935, 936.)
Thanks for reading and sharing with me, as you well know I believe Peter James and John played a very big part in the Authority of the Melchisedec Priesthood being alive amongst us again, these great events of our past have made it possible for us to have sacraments and ordinances available to God’s people today and into the future. It is a sacred responsibility and gift God has given. May we respect love and honour our God who gave it for the benefit of His creation. I encourage you to read your scriptures and church history. Pray about it before you start and long after you finish for guidance and direction and understanding so you can, according to your own agency, form your own God guided beliefs, opinions and decisions. Never blindly follow any man or woman, never put your trust in the arm of flesh or in other words never let the understanding of another person become your own, unless you have put it to the test (does it harmonise with Scripture, is it in harmony with that which God has given before). God will be with you if you open the door and are willing to listen to what He is saying. May you continue to be blest is my prayer in Jesus Name Amen.

Let’s look at D&C 26 2A-3G in relation to Peter James and John and others - [Sec 26:2a] Behold, this is wisdom in me; wherefore marvel not, for the hour cometh that I will drink of the fruit of the vine with you on the earth, and with Moroni, whom I have sent unto you to reveal the Book of Mormon, containing the fullness of my everlasting
gospel;
[Sec 26:3a] And also with Peter, and James, and John, whom I have sent unto you, by whom I have ordained you and confirmed you to be apostles and especial witnesses of my name, and bear the keys of your ministry; [Sec 26:3b] and of the same things which I revealed unto them; unto whom I have committed the keys of my kingdom, and a dispensation of the gospel for the last times;
[Sec 26:3c] and for the fullness of times, in the which I will gather together in one all things, both which are in heaven and which are on earth; and also with all those whom my Father hath given me out of the world; [Sec 26:3d] wherefore lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armour, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all ye may be able to stand. [Sec 26:3e] Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, which I have sent mine angels to commit unto you, taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked;

Some jobs/tasks need a person/company who is licensed and insured, some do not. I’m interested in all recommendations. If you consider yourself to be skilled or want to promote your company, please don’t be bashful about recommending yourself.
Thank you in advance for all recommendations.

Francis Harper Message for 10/26/2018
Dear Ones,
We express our love for God by loving our neighbors. “If a man say, I love God, and hateth [does not love] his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also” (1 John 4:20-21). In other words, the two great commandments actually become one. We cannot love God without loving our neighbors.
The second of the great commandments is: “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (Matthew 22:38 IV; 22:39 KJV). This is a very difficult commandment for most of us to keep. We tend to be self-serving, instead of being the servant of others. Jesus said, “whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister. And whosoever of you will be the chiefest [greatest], shall be servant of all” (Mark 10:43-44). “When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God” (Mosiah 1:49).
A great reward is promised to those who serve their fellow men. “. . . I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger and ye took me in; naked and ye clothed me; I was sick and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee; or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in; or naked and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the king shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25: 36-41 IV; 25: 35-40 KJV). The righteous shall inherit “life eternal” (Matthew 25:47).
The greatest service we can render to our neighbors is to introduce them to Jesus; the source of abundant life. He said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
Quite often, however, before we will have an opportunity to introduce Jesus and his everlasting gospel, the immediate physical and temporal needs of our neighbors must be met. We need to be ever alert to see the unseen troubles and concerns of our daily acquaintances. We may have our own cares with which to deal making it difficult to see the needs of others.
Our branches and congregations should have a reputation for being friendly and caring. The saints of the Sinamangal Restoration Branch in Kathmandu, Nepal, have proven themselves to be a people who care. During my visit at the branch in 2012, several shared their testimonies with me. Among them was Sita Baral. Sita is a widow with a 16 year old son. She is very concerned about her son’s education, knowing that in the future he will be her only means of support. Sita told me her sad story. Her husband was killed by a hit and run driver and his body was not identified for 26 days! During that period she didn’t know what had happened to him. Sita and her son had no shelter or bed, and very little to eat during this difficult time. When her husband’s body was finally identified and she was notified, she entered the 13 day Hindu mourning fast. So for 39 days she had very little to eat. She went to a church to get help, but no one offered to assist her until she found the Sinamangal Restoration Branch. She said she and her son have been richly blessed since their baptisms. In addition to being blessed in physical ways, they have received love from the saints and have been given the strength and hope of the gospel. They have found Jesus, who is “able to succor them” (Hebrews 2:18). She often requests administration for her son, Sanjeev, and herself.

Becoming Good Neighbors
The second of the great commandments is “Love thy neighbor as thyself” (Matthew 22:38 IV; 22:39 KJV). A lawyer asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” (Luke 10:30 IV; 10:29 KJV). Jesus answered this question by relating the parable of the good Samaritan. Every person we meet is a potential neighbor. It is not likely the man who fell among thieves was acquainted with the Samaritan who befriended him. The Lord is the friend of every person on earth. He invites “all to come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female. And he remembereth the heathen, and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile” (2 Nephi 11:113-115). The final words of the parable of the good Samaritan were: “Go, and do likewise.” In other words, we should be a good neighbor to every person; black or white, bond or free, male or female.
How many of us are good neighbors? Have we ever passed by persons who have been spiritually or emotionally wounded? Have we been so busy we did not notice them? Perhaps we noticed them but were unwilling to spend the time and effort it would take to help them? What will it take to qualify us as good neighbors? Jesus was a blessing to every person he met.
I was privileged to be a member of the Restoration Branch [RLDS] at Ames, Iowa, during the early 1950’s. I recall saying to the people there, “I would not hesitate to invite any person, even the President of the U.S.A., or the Queen of England, to join us in our gatherings for worship and fellowship. I was confident all would be blessed because the Holy Spirit was there. I presently attend the Woodbine, Iowa, Restoration Branch. A recent guest said to me after attending a Sunday morning service with us; “There is passion here.”
Following Isaiah’s experience at the temple in Jerusalem, wherein he saw the Lord, he heard the voice of the Lord, saying “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:1-8). Obviously, Isaiah fulfilled his commission to deliver the Lord’s message to the people of his nation; his neighbors.
Enos had a similar experience when he went to hunt beasts in the forest. He said: “And my soul hungered; and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer and supplication for mine own soul . . . and there came a voice unto me saying, Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed . . . Now, it came to pass that when I heard these words, I began to feel a desire for the welfare of my brethren . . .” (Enos 1:5-12).
There’s a pattern for us in the experiences of Isaiah and Enos. In the presence of the Lord we recognize our need for his forgiveness. When we come to him with humble and contrite hearts seeking his forgiveness, he will forgive us. “Yea, and as often as my people repent, will I forgive them their trespasses against me” (Mosiah 11:139). After the cleansing we can be filled with the Holy Spirit. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit we will “feel a desire for the welfare of our brethren.” We will be good neighbors!
I will never forget my experience at a Lord’s Supper Service I attended as a student at Iowa State. I thought I was a pretty good guy until the Holy Spirit touched my heart during this hour of worship. After my heart became broken and contrite, I felt what I described as “a glorious release;” a sense of a cleansing and forgiveness of my sins. I was filled with love, peace and joy.
After this blessed hour, I went to work as the cashier at the Memorial Union Cafeteria. During the days preceding my encounter with the Holy Spirit, my mind was so occupied with my own concerns that I hardly noticed the people passing by, except to collect their cash! But now I noticed I was sincerely interested in each person as they stopped for a moment to pay for their food. I do not know if they noticed a difference in me, but I sure did! Within an hour, I had become a caring neighbor! When we are filled with the Spirit this invariably happens; we become good neighbors.

Book of Mormon Reading Challenge
A Book of Mormon Reading Challenge to the Saints:
Is there anything that all of the Restoration Gospel peoples can agree on? If there is, one thing is probably the validity and powerful truth of the Book of Mormon. The early missionaries led with the Book of Mormon because it contains words that speak to our soul – words that were written specifically to us as saints and for this very monumental time in history.
Wouldn’t it be pretty powerful if we decided to read the Book of Mormon together?
Many in our membership have never read the Book of Mormon. Some haven’t read it in years. This is a great way for us to come together to gain a testimony of the truthfulness of this book or to remember the powerful messages contained in these beautiful words of eternity.
Moroni 10:1-7 tells us to ask God to know the truthfulness of all things and He will confirm their truthfulness by the POWER of the Holy Ghost. We live in a world full of darkness and distractions. Holding onto the Iron Rod, or word of God, is so very critical and could save us from pits of darkness and destruction. Reading God’s words, especially the Book of Mormon, speaks truth to our soul, allowing us to recognize God’s words when we read them because we will recognize His voice. The old adage says that the best way to know counterfeit currency is to view real currency over and over and then when we see the counterfeit, it is recognized because it is just different enough from the real ones. The same goes for reading God’s word. As Alma 16 says, when we read the good word of God, it becomes delicious to us and enlarges our soul. The good Spirit of the Book of Mormon is the same Spirit that leads us into truth and allows us to know truth when we hear or read it.
Now, more than ever, the restoration needs to find ways to come together.
· Can we try a challenge together?
· Are you willing to participate in a reading challenge of the Book of Mormon?
· Are you willing to organize others to participate as well?
Outreach Restoration Branch took on this challenge at the start of 2018. We were accountable to each other and came together often to discuss our readings. We organized our Sunday School classes to discuss what we read that week. We involved the children by having them read “Between of the Covers of the Book of Mormon” by Verda Bryant (which can be purchased at Price Publishing) and rewarded their successful completion of the challenge. We organized small groups that met every-other-week. We started a Facebook group for the reading challenge. We encouraged each other to keep going. We prayed, testified, and celebrated throughout the reading challenge. The result was we grew together and had wonderful experiences together that strengthened our faith. It helped our branch be more united as a part of the body of Christ.
The attached reading calendar starts the readings on November 19th and goes to April 5th. What a great day to finish – the eve of the anniversary of the restoration of Christ’s church to the earth!
If you are unable or don't have time to read, you can visit www.outreachbranch.org for audio readings of the Book of Mormon (click on the “Book of Mormon Audio” button).
The chapters and verses on the calendars are from the RLDS Book of Mormon text.

Healing the Breach
Mormonism, Metaphors, and the Pieces of the Puzzle
I have just released a new book titled, “Healing the Breach: Mormonism, Metaphors, and the Pieces of the Puzzle”.
Patrick S. McKay, Sr
The day is fast approaching when the compilation of the many testimonies manifest in the various branches of His church will be woven together into a beautiful tapestry revealing the effort to which the Holy Spirit has gone, that God might have a happy, and united people. Yet today, the Restored Church is fractured.
In Healing the Breach, author Patrick McKay uses figurative language, common testimony, and prophetic expressions to illustrate the personal conviction, great spiritual truths, and lofty ideals of our epic latter-day theme. This commentary testifies of the rich tradition and sweet influence of the Holy Spirit that has accompanied the scattered Saints as remnants of the original church, with the express intent to one day reunite us. McKay’s insights present an olive leaf to all the honest in heart to give consideration to our common fate, emphasizing the need we have to band together in order to fulfill our divine destiny as latter-day Saints.
Each branch of the Restored Church has a rich legacy of testimony that has been created, preserved, and transmitted to them from the initial days of the Restoration, reminding us all of our spiritual birthright as inheritors of the angel message. Like Michelangelo who once declared, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” McKay has seen the destiny of the Saints of the Restoration, and has written to set them free, offering fresh insights and optimism to enliven the reader to press forward toward Zion’s borderline.

Election Prayer Services 2018
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ
As in the past the Mount Zion Restoration Branch held a special Prayer Service for the Presidential election.
God heard our concerns and prayers and responded with his Love and concern for the American people.

Men's Prayer Breakfast - November 3
UNTO ALL Men
Many years ago, brave men stood and pledged their
lives, their fortunes, their all, that a free people
might come forth and be established upon this
choice land. One of the most important and frequent
things they did, was offer prayer to God.
Somewhere between the criticality of the
mid term elections and the mob that marches upon
our southern border, we need to be found in
prayer to God.
Saturday, November 3, 2018 there is a
Men's Prayer Breakfast at Farview Restoration Branch,
11404 E 24 Street S
Independence, MO
(24th and Vermont).
We will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Gentlemen, this is far too important to succumb to what divides us.

Update on Marilyn Middleton
My cousin, Marilyn Middleton, is back at Center Point in room 616. She was admitted Tuesday morning, October 23rd, for a blood transfusion. Her hemoglobin was very low, 6.8, and had a high white blood cell count of 16,000. They’re running test to find the root cause of this new development. She will be at Center Point another day or two depending on her recovery. She is not experiencing any unusual pain with this which is a blessing. Please continue to uphold her in prayer. You can contact me at the numbers below for updates.

“Faith is one of the most basic acts of being a follower of Jesus Christ. It’s faith that Jesus is the Son of God who sacrificed himself on a cross and defeated death and sin to rise again so that we could be free, that brings us to commit our lives to Him. I would even say it ’s the first step, because how can you come unto him and repent, if you don’t already have faith to believe He’s real?
Faith doesn’t stop there. Once we make that covenant, then our faith has to continue to grow and become active. It’s that type of faith that I think many of us struggle with the most. I certainly do and I know I’m not alone. It’s not something we often talk about as a group of believers, but maybe we should.
Why, if we have faith in who Jesus is, do we also struggle to have faith in what Jesus will do? Sure, He died for my sins, but can or will He really heal me? Or help me overcome my financial/personal/emotional struggles?
Personal faith in the divine is what I wanted to understand deeper. To go beyond the general or even abstract definition and understand the basic steps that build personal faith. I invite you to join me on my journey to learn the many aspects of faith.”
Enjoy and God bless!

Francis Harper Message for 10/19/2018
Dear Ones,
The days of this earth are numbered. Although the number of remaining days are known only to the Father, Jesus would say to us, “O fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!” (Luke 24:24), if we fail to recognize we are living in the last days.
Daniel spoke of the time of the end when “many will run to and fro and knowledge will be increased” (Daniel 12:4). Surely this is an accurate description of the days in which we live.
Without volition on my part, I have been given knowledge of two additional prophetic warnings of the imminent return of the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” (Revelation 5:5). During the early months of 2008, I became aware of two prophecies, not found in our Scriptures, that I believe were made known to me as additional witnesses and as a warning that we are indeed rapidly approaching the final countdown of days.
I became aware of the first of these two prophecies while I was reading, A Visitors Guide to China, Elizabeth Morrell, p 294. As I was reading the segment on Tibet, I read about the present Dalai Lama. “Today the Dalai Lama lives in Dharamasala, India, where he was forced into exile in 1959-1960, when China took control of Tibet. The Dalai Lama’s lives in the foothills of the
Himalayas, where he heads a community of 40 Buddhists monks, and a kind of government-in-exile which is made up of many exiled Tibetans. Unlike the previous Dalai Lamas he has a wide knowledge of the world, is greatly respected and has sent several delegations to Tibet and Peking [Beijing]. He has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and appeared on the cover of Time Magazine in late March or early April of 2008. He is the fourteenth Dalai Lama. It was predicted long ago that there would be only fourteen Dalai Lamas.”
When I read the final sentence about the Dalai Lama I wondered how long ago the prophecy was given. I also wondered why there would not be a 15 th Dalai Lama, a 16th, and so on. These questions reminded me of a little book my secretary, Lou Waite, had given me, entitled The Saffron Robe, written by Lobsang Rampa [Copyright 1966].
The book came in a box of old books Lou had purchased at a garage sale. She thought I might be interested in this book, related to the people of Nepal/Tibet, so she gave it to me. Even though I had traveled to Nepal, which borders the Buddhist country of Tibet, it did not interest me at the time, so I put it in the bottom drawer of my desk, where it remained untouched for many months. After reading of the Buddhist prophecy in the Visitor’s Guide to China I remembered The Saffron Robe, and thought perhaps it might have something to say about the Buddhist prophecy of long ago.
Much to my surprise, the book was very interesting, and I was pleasantly surprised to find more information on the Buddhist prophecy. On page 135 I read, “. . . it seemed that the world was just about aflame. There seemed to be trouble in Russia, trouble in England, the Irish people were making a commotion—only we of Tibet were peaceful. I fell silent as I recalled the prophecies which had been made about Tibet centuries before . . .”
My question was answered—long ago was centuries ago! It had been at least two-hundred years since the Dalai Lama prophecy had been given. Continuing with the quote from The Saffron Robe (1966): “. . . and I knew that in our time, in my lifetime in fact, we of Tibet would have our own troubles [they had their troubles in 1959-1960]. I knew also that our own beloved Dalai Lama [the 13th] would be the last actual Dalai Lama, and although there would be one more, he would not be of the same spiritual significance.” Was it a coincidence that I was led to this information that the present Dalai Lama was prophesied to be the last?
Was it coincidence that 1) Lou purchased the box of books and gave this particular book to me? 2) Was it a coincidence that Ram Baral had given me his Visitors Guide to China, and I chose to read about Tibet? This Buddhist prophecy that the final Dalai Lama would not be of the same spiritual significance as the earlier ones has already been fulfilled. This gives us confidence that the rest of the prophecy will also come to pass.
As I pondered the significance of the present Dali Lama being the last, I recalled another prophecy which had been given to an Irish Saint in 1139 AD. A few years before 2008, while visiting the Religious Museum located between Logan and Missouri Valley, Iowa, I read about the prophecy of Saint Malachy, who lived in Ireland during 1094-1148 AD. He was known for his gifts of healing, miracles and prophecy. While in Rome in 1139 AD he received a vision showing him there would be 112 additional popes, up to the end of time. St. Malachy’s prophecy was not fully accepted by the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, and it was forgotten until 1590 AD. The passage of time has vindicated much of the prophecy of St. Malachy. His prophecies have proven to be amazingly accurate. He even accurately prophesied the precise date of his own death. Was this also a coincidence that I happened to see and read of St. Malachy’s prophecy during my visit to the religious museum near my home?
We should not be surprised that God has revealed his secrets to his servants, the prophets, in nations other than our own. He promised, “And I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of earth” (2 Nephi 12:57).
We should ask ourselves, “Why has the prophesied number of the long succession of popes and Dalai Lamas come to an end at the same time?” Surely this, too, is more than coincidence.
Could it be that Jesus will return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in the very near future, and will replace all of our leaders, both secular and religious? The Dalai Lama and Pope Francis, both being in their 80’s, gives us another cause to believe the Lord’s coming is very near. “Watch, therefore, for ye know not at what hour our Lord doth come . . .” (Matthew 24:49 IV; 24:42 KJV).

When Will the Lord Return?
Aesop’s fable #210 is an account of a shepherd boy who repeatedly tricks nearby villagers into thinking wolves are attacking his flock. When a wolf actually does appear and the boy again calls for help, the villagers believe that it is another false alarm and the sheep are eaten by the wolf.
I recall a certain man predicting the Lord Jesus would return in 1988. He even wrote a pamphlet listing 88 reasons why the Lord would return during that year. Needless to say, he had given a false alarm. Others have issued similar alarms. These false alarms cause skepticism. And the words of Peter are fulfilled: “. . . in the last days there shall come scoffers, walking after their own lusts. Denying the Lord Jesus Christ, and saying, where is the promise of his coming? . . .” (2 Peter 3:3-4).
We must be cautious when we speak about the timing of the Lord’s coming. For “of that day and hour no one knoweth; no, not the angels of God in heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24:43 IV; 24:36 KJV). Although none will know the day and hour of the Lord’s return, Jesus said; “Now learn a parable of the fig tree [symbol of Israel]: when its branches are yet tender, and it begins to put forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh at hand. So likewise mine elect, when they shall see all these things, they shall know that he is near, even at the doors” (Matthew 24:42 IV; 24:33 KJV). Throughout the Scriptures God has used Israel as his prophetic time clock.
Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948. On June 7, 1967, Israel regained control of Jerusalem which had been under Gentile occupation for 1,897 years! Finally, in December, 2017, President Trump announced the United States Embassy was being moved to Jerusalem, thus recognizing the Holy City as the capital of Israel. Surely all these things indicate that the coming of
Jesus is at the doors.
Jesus said “Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled” (Luke 21:23 IV; 21:24 KJV). Then he added: “Verily I say unto you, . . . this generation, when the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled, shall not pass away til all be fulfilled” (Luke 21:32). The Gentile domination of Jerusalem ended on June 7, 1967. We have been living within the final generation for more than fifty years.
Jesus was asked, “What is the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?” Among the signs he gave of his return, he said, “. . . and except those days should be shortened, there should none of their flesh be saved. But for the elect’s sake . . . those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:19-20 IV; 24: 22 KJV). After August 6-9, 1945, when the atom bombs were dropped on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, we knew the extinction of man had suddenly become possible.
Now, 73 years later, it has been stated that Israel is targeted for complete annihilation. The Lord will intervene if necessary.
The Lord said, “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come, or the destruction of the wicked” (Matthew 24:32 IV; 24:14 KJV). The gospel is being preached even in the uttermost parts of the earth today. In areas such as China where preaching of the gospel is forbidden, the Scriptures are available and are being secretly read on iPads!
The prophet Daniel was informed by an angel that our day; at the time of the end, “many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase” (Daniel 12:4). Who could have imagined at the beginning of the 20th Century that on July 20, 1969, a man would walk on the moon and safely return? We are living at the time of the end. “Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as you think not, the Son of Man cometh” (Matthew 24:51 IV; 24:44 KJV).

When Will the Lord Return?
From: Francis Harper
When Will the Lord Return?
Aesop’s fable #210 is an account of a shepherd boy who repeatedly tricks nearby villagers
into thinking wolves are attacking his flock. When a wolf actually does appear and the boy again
calls for help, the villagers believe that it is another false alarm and the sheep are eaten by the wolf.
I recall a certain man predicting the Lord Jesus would return in 1988. He even wrote a
pamphlet listing 88 reasons why the Lord would return during that year. Needless to say, he had
given a false alarm. Others have issued similar alarms. These false alarms cause skepticism. And
the words of Peter are fulfilled: “. . . in the last days there shall come scoffers, walking after their own lusts.
So likewise mine elect, when they shall
see all these things, they shall know that he is near, even at the doors” (Matthew 24:42 IV; 24:33 KJV). Throughout the Scriptures God has used Israel as his prophetic time clock.
Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948. On June 7, 1967, Israel regained control of Jerusalem which had been under Gentile occupation for 1,897 years! Finally, in December, 2017,
President Trump announced the United States Embassy was being moved to Jerusalem, thus
recognizing the Holy City as the capital of Israel. Surely all these things indicate that the coming of Jesus is at the doors.
Jesus said “Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles
be fulfilled” (Luke 21:23 IV; 21:24 KJV). Then he added: “Verily I say unto you, . . . this
generation, when the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled, shall not pass away til all be fulfilled” (Luke 21:32). The Gentile domination of Jerusalem ended on June 7, 1967. We have been living within the final generation for more than fifty years.
Jesus was asked, “What is the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?” Among the
signs he gave of his return, he said, “. . . and except those days should be shortened, there should none of their flesh be saved. But for the elect’s sake . . . those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24:19-20 IV; 24: 22 KJV). After August 6-9, 1945, when the atom bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, we knew the extinction of man had suddenly become possible.
Now, 73 years later, it has been stated that Israel is targeted for complete annihilation. The Lord will intervene if necessary.
The Lord said, “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness
unto all nations and then shall the end come, or the destruction of the wicked” (Matthew 24:32 IV; 24:14 KJV). The gospel is being preached even in the uttermost parts of the earth today. In areas such as China where preaching of the gospel is forbidden, the Scriptures are available and are being secretly read on I Pads!
The prophet Daniel was informed by an angel that our day; at the time of the end, “many
shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase” (Daniel 12:4). Who could have imagined at the
beginning of the 20 th Century that on July 20, 1969, a man would walk on the moon and safely
return?
We are living at the time of the end. “Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as you
think not, the Son of Man cometh” (Matthew 24:51 IV; 24:44 KJV).

Pam Maitland Passed Away
From Les Maitland Re: Pam Maitland, passed away August 25, 2018.
As many of you already know, this earth lost a beautiful soul. She lost her battle with Dementia and left us all way too early in her life. That smile could light up a pitch black room and her laugh was contagious. She never met a stranger and she always wanted you to know the real her. The 36 years together was not enough, even though we had experienced a lot of things and gone a lot of places. I loved her with all my heart and I will miss her everyday. Our Heavenly Father took her in peace and now she can rest in Paradise. Don't cry in sadness, smile and know she touched your life and made her mark. RIP my beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter.
