Selling 33,600 Piece Puzzle

I have a jigsaw puzzle that I'm not going to complete. It's the Wildlife Puzzle by Educa.
It's 33,600 pieces. It's the one that will be 18 feet long and around 5 feet tall if you put it together on a wall.
It comes in 10 sections. I put up a folding table, with a large cardboard piece on it and put it up one section at time.
I put together the first section. I'm about half way through the second one. 8 sections are still left in their bags.
I'm not interested in doing this one. Just too much green for me.
I'd like to sell it for $100.00. It's selling new online for $350-$400.
I come to Independence on Tuesdays so I could bring it to someone.

We have the dates of the rehearsals for the Hymns of Zion choir participants for those interested in singing in the choir.

It will be important for Choir participants to attend both rehearsals on the 19 and 28 in order to know what they are doing in the Hymns of Zion Event

Update on my dad Ron McCune.

For those of you who didn't know my dad went to the ER last Friday. He had had an episode that the morning, and after many test and overnight stay at Center Point they cleared him to go home Saturday evening.

When he was cleared to go home they said his cat scan was clear and he had Not had a stroke. But it's been a long week. Dad has not been reacting well to the medication and he has been trying to find a doctor to go see who can help. Wednesday he found someone who could see him, and Friday dad had his appointment. The doctor was concerned he have had high blood pressure in his brain, whatever that means. He told dad to go to straight to the ER and have a spinal tap test done. Once at St. Mary's, they required another CT skin before they could do the other test and the results came back that dad had had 2 small strokes. They are not sure when the strokes occurred but in comparing the MRI from last week to today's they concluded that he had two collapsed blood vessels about 8mm big.

So now dad has been checked into St. Mary's until Monday or Tuesday so that they can do more testing. They will also be monitoring to see how the medication affects him and what they need to do to alter the dosage. Which if you have gone your entire life without ever taking medication to suddenly dumping 6 different medications into your body it tends to wreak havoc.

I have given thought to what a church friend spoke of at lunch the other day about not sharing the Book of Mormon with people of other faiths. I, too, feel exactly the same about promoting the Book of Mormon and even mentioning my church affiliation in outreach ministry because it shuts doors on communication and working cooperatively. Lori Smith, a sister in Oak Grove, told me a testimony of a woman in the scripture class she teaches, who the Holy Spirit advised not to tell a new neighbor anything about her church or the Book of Mormon. (I pray I have the gist right) The woman was to befriend her neighbor generously, share Jesus with her, and that was all. After a while, the neighbor began asking questions, and wanted to know where the woman went to church. She divulged then, where she attended. The neighbor came, loved the people, soon was learning about the Restoration, and was baptized.
Back to my story, then, the Holy Spirit gave me a dream two summers ago. For me personally I must not lay it aside, that I am to live the Book of Mormon, and not preach about it. In the dream I saw a man come onto the Temple Lot. He was holding a book which looked like a 3-in-1. He lifted it up with his right hand and was waving it above his head. He didn’t say anything, just waved the book. There were people standing around and saw him but didn’t pay much attention to him. Then, he looked up, seemed to be listening to an unseen being, stopped and lowered the book. He held it with both hands, then opened it up, and started tearing the pages out, and eating them. This caused the people to take notice. As they watched, aghast at first, the light began to dawn on them. Now I saw all of the people gathered there had books in their hands, too, and began doing the same thing, opening their books, tearing out the pages, and eating them. That was all of the dream. The message I got was that I was to devour the words of the book and the nourishment I received would help me live a life pleasing to God and would accomplish all of His purposes He had for me. These pages are life-giving food! Essential whole food for our Spirits. We cannot live well without all of God’s words.
My scripture reading has been off and on since then. When the Six Month Book of Mormon Reading Challenge invitation came in November, I felt impressed to do it. I started about 2 weeks late and I haven’t been totally consistent, but far better than ever before. Here is the confirming blessing I received.
Strangely, and immediately, the Holy Spirit seemed to be the one in control of what I read by the Challenge schedule, and when. For the passages applied directly to current circumstances in my life, what was going on in the First Fruits Daily Prayer Group, and even with national events. As I read the Book, each daily part frequently described the exact same things that were happening to me, and others around me. It is uncanny and so bazaar and so very beneficial! Only God could orchestrate this, and I know by this exercise that He is in complete control.
For instance, I was impressed by the Spirit to draw apart to be with the Lord. Though Jesus conveyed no burden to me when he first appeared, I was impressed by the Spirit when I entered my bedroom and knelt down, that I must pray for our president and the nation. I don’t like Trump’s words and ways, but I do have conviction that he is a man chosen to do a work for the Lord. I had had the feeling that Trump needed prayer for several days prior to this, but hadn’t made a special effort for it. I was to be as specific as I could be. I barely scratched the surface, but was released after several minutes to go on to other things of Jesus’ interests.
One thing the Spirit made clear to pray against: There are people in the White House staff who do not believe or like the president. They are Judases in the group, and are weak links that can, and will sell the president out, to bring harm to him, his family, and the vice president. There is great danger.
At that same time, the Book of Mormon Challenge reading, brought up a related insights I must pray against for the president and all of us. Alma 10:34-40 tells of the evil actions of the people of Ammonihah. Alma’s and Amulek’s teaching was stirring belief in the people, but the evil, controlling people were angry and wanted to kill the men, and set about to destroy their reputations in the minds of the people.

“And they also said that Amulek had lied unto them and had reviled against their law and also against their lawyers.... And the people went forth and witnessed against them, testifying that they had reviled against the law, and their lawyers, and judges of the land, and also all the people that were in the land, …And many such things did the people testify against Alma and Amulek. And it came to pass that Zeezrom was astonished at the words which had been spoken (against Alma and Amulek by the people); and he also knew concerning the blindness of the minds which he had caused among the people by his lying words…”

The people of Ammonihah were so evil that they made up lies about Alma and Amulek. They didn’t simply misconstrue and twist words, they were hell-bent, and purposefully said things that were totally false, to destroy all trust in the men and turn the new believers against them.
The Spirit showed me that Satan and his minions will stop at nothing to retain control over those he has taken captive, even to physical abuse and imprisonment. As Christians stand for God and against evil, evil strikes back. What happened to Alma and Amulek is being repeated. We all must be aware of Satan’s tactics.
I took heart at how God delivered Alma and Amulek. Alma 10:75-83

”And it came to pass that they all went forth and smote them, saying the same words, even until the last. And when the last had spoken unto them, the power of God was upon Alma and Amulek, and they arose and stood upon their feet; and Alma cried, saying, How long shall we suffer these great afflictions, O Lord? O Lord, give us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto deliverance; and they brake the cords with which they were bound. And when the people saw this, they began to flee, for the fear of destruction had come upon them. And it came to pass that so great was their fear, that they fell to the earth and did not obtain the outer door of the prison; and the earth shook mightily, and the walls of the prison were rent in twain, so that they fell to the earth; and the chief judge, and the lawyers, and priests, and teachers who smote upon Alma and Amulek were slain by the fall thereof. And Alma and Amulek came forth out of the prison; and they were not hurt, for the Lord had granted unto them power according to their faith which was in Christ. And they straightway came forth out of the prison; and they were loosed from their bands. And the prison had fallen to the earth; and every soul who was within the walls thereof, save it were Alma and Amulek, were slain; and they straightway came forth into the city."

Every day I read my passages, I find timely words that explain our current state in the city and nation, and bring fresh insights that apply not only to my personal walk with the Lord, and daily family life, but directly to current events. The Book is prophetic on a very personal level, and not just for me, but for every soul.
This fresh light and truth erases all fear for the future. It takes away all doubt about the Love and Power of our Father, God to take care of all of us, and deliver us from evil’s grip. My dream regarding eating the scriptures has come true in very real terms. My patriarchal blessings says, “Study the three books of the Church that you might know His will concerning you.” I confirm this current Book of Mormon Reading Challenge has God’s anointing and will help restore His people to their full purpose in the Kingdom building process and fulfillment of all of His rich promises. When God’s people read His Word, we are changed spiritually for the Kingdom’s sake. The Written Word and the Spoken Word (Prayer).
I know my friend still believes the Book of Mormon, and has to lay it to the side for God’s timing, as I have had to do many times. In my testimony to other church members and non-believers, Jesus must outshine all other things. However, the Spirit says that we must keep all scripture close in our hearts at all times. Read them all, devour them all, and ponder them all, every day. By them, we will receive salvation, temporally as well as spiritually, and the King will have His Kingdom and Will done on Earth.

What is a solemn assembly?

Simply, it is a sacred gathering in which we recognize our desperate need and come with solemn petition before the Lord in fasting and prayer, confessing our sins and appealing to the throne of heaven for deliverance.

“Turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning; repent, and turn unto the Lord, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and he will turn away the evil from you.

“Blow the trumpet in Zion; sanctify a fast; call a solemn assembly; gather the people; sanctify the congregation; assemble the elders.

“Let the priests weep and say, Spare thy people, O Lord” (Joel 2:12-17).

Whether or not you are able to gather with us on February 24, we invite you to spend time in fasting and prayer on Wednesdays, however and whenever you choose, throughout the coming months.

Please make a special mention in your prayers for the covenant people, the house of Israel, considering the promises of the Lord to them.

“At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fullness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations,... behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fullness of my gospel from among them. And then will I remember my covenant which I have made unto my people, O house of Israel, and I will bring my gospel unto them” (3Ne 7:34-36).

“All the kindreds of the earth cannot be blessed unless he shall make bare his arm in the eyes of the nations...in bringing about his covenants and his gospel unto those who are of the house of Israel” (1Ne 7:21-22).

I have a friend, Jesse Bolinger, of Lamoni, IA who is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. He is not a member, but is continually seeking the Lord with a knowledge of the Restoration and an eagerness to learn more about the church. He has requested prayers from anyone who is willing to pray for him, especially myself and other friends that he knows he can trust. He has undergone several treatments and is starting to feel the symptoms from nausea and vomiting to exhaustion. Top Ten Tips For Becoming Spiritually Fit For The Kingdom

​​1. Begin the first 5 waking minutes of each day in praise and prayer to your Heavenly Father

2. Spend 15 min each day remembering and writing in a journal how God's hand has been in your life and pray that God will give you a humble heart.

3. Spend 1 hour each day feasting upon the words of Christ and pray asking that God will teach you how to implement into action that upon which you have feasted.

4. Fast at least 3 meals each week, spending at least 30 minutes each time you fast focusing upon Christ.

5. Pray each day with all the energy of heart that God will bless you with charity, even the pure love of Christ.

6. Make a list each week of 5 persons for whom you will specifically pray and call them during that week to tell them that you love them and that you are praying for them.

Ron McCune Home From the Hospital

Saturday morning Ron McCune had an episode, for lack of a better word. He went to the ER around 10:00 a.m., thinking it was possibly a heart attack. After tests in ER they decided it was symptomatic of a Mini stroke so the doctors checked him in to do more testing. Today he had an ECO cardiogram and his heart results came back positive and strong. He also had an MRI with the results the he did not have a stroke. This is an immense weight off of all of our minds and hearts.

It looks like the episode and the numbness in his hand and arm were caused by high blood pressure and diabetes. Both of which are very manageable.

The hospital released him about 7:00 p.m. and we are very grateful he is home.

My dad wanted me to pass along his sincere gratitude for all the prayers on his behalf. We have been very blessed and I would ask for your continued thoughts and prayers that he will be able to get his blood pressure and sugar levels under control and start feeling better.

Dear Saints,

I would like to add to the message Sherrie sent a day or two ago.

It may be difficult for me to share with you the blessing the Lord is extending to us in this patriarchal ministry here in Africa. How does one adequately express the gentle, quiet Spirit that is here with us? We are in the home of Eric and Pam Odida, which is in one of the suburbs of Kisumu, the third largest city in Kenya. Their home is almost within sight of the shores of Lake Victoria, which is on the Eastern edge of Kenya and almost directly on the equator.

When I say “we,” I mean Brother Eric Odida, Brother Michael Ballantyne, Brother Doug Smith, and
myself. We meet each morning and evening for a short worship to thank the Lord for His blessings and goodness and to ask his help with that which is before us. During the day, we are also blessed to have Kenyan priesthood and members that stop by to visit.

We all recognize that without the Lord’s guidance and strength these blessing would not be given.
Saints, please be aware that what brother Mike is doing is very demanding both physically and
spiritually. Without the gentle and quiet Spirit that is here with us it would not be possible, which, of course, means that your prayers are of great value to the ministry being given.

On Sunday, February 3 rd , Mike and I will worship with one of the local branches. We plan to fly back to Nairobi on the afternoon of February 5 th and spend two days providing blessings to members in the Nairobi area.

Saints, each of us have a strong testimony that this ministry was arranged and is sustained by the Lord. We also believe that it will be a strong blessing to the Saints in East Africa, not just to those receiving these blessings but, as their lives are changed, they in turn will become blessings to others.

I am reminded about an article Brother Eric wrote after the funeral of his grandmother. He said, “for with God nothing can be impossible (Luke 1:37).” Surely this is true.

I’m homebound, due to serious heart condition.

Sometimes I sing, I was a musician student; or I play a blues harp as breath practice and to create happiness.

Because of medication side effects and weakness, speaking with voice is sometimes difficult, and I nap and sleep a lot, but I don’t exclude talking by phone or whatsapp.

Dream of Howard Parker

Brothers and sisters, I feel compelled to share with you a dream that I had in mid August. It is not a "thus saith the Spirit", but I feel it to be a spiritual dream, and a warning of preparation to his people. I simply ask that you consider this experience with prayer. I am not a prophet, and am not interested in being a leader. This is a response, I believe, to much prayer over the state of the Church, and asking how we can prepare for the end times ahead.

“And the day shall come that the earth shall rest. But before that day the heavens shall be darkened, and a veil of darkness shall cover the earth; and the heavens shall shake, and also the earth. And great tribulations shall be among the children of men, but my people will I preserve; and righteousness will I send down out of heaven, and truth will I send forth out of the earth, to bear testimony of mine Only Begotten; his resurrection from the dead; yea, and also the resurrection of all men. And righteousness and truth will I cause to sweep the earth as with a flood, to gather out mine own elect from the four quarters of the earth, unto a place which I shall prepare; an holy city, that my people may gird up their loins, and be looking forth for the time of my coming; for there shall be my tabernacle, and it shall be called Zion; a New Jerusalem” Gen.7:67-69

The promise I want to emphasize here is: “my people will I preserve”. Most believe that we are living in the last days, and that this world is only growing darker. This is not an excuse to give up, or take up other interests. This is a day to look up and rejoice, for the Lords coming is nigh. Those of us who grew up in the RLDS faith recognize, at least in part, the trials that will come upon this world, particularly this nation.

Section 105:9a-10a reads “Verily, verily I say unto you, Darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face. Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth--a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation--and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord. And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord.” Who knows how all of this will occur, but because of her sins, Micah 3:12 states that “Zion shall be ploughed as a field”.

Honestly, this has never been a pressing issue for me. Perhaps I, like everyone else, thinks about this as something that will happen “later”; that it’s really not my concern. But it has to happen some time, right? If the scriptures prophecy of this, then it has to happen because God has said “my words will not return to me void”.

I pray, constantly, for the people of the Lord, and the gospel going out to the nations. The church, in her present state, is a mess. So I am always asking the Lord what I, or we can do. The Lord seems to give me dreams when he desires to get through to me. I always wake up knowing that this is a message from the Lord. My Grandfather has come to me in night visions, and every time, they’ve come true.

A few weeks ago, he came to me again. In this dream, I began by thanking him for allowing me to bear his name, after which, I asked him a question that I have always wondered about. It seems, growing up, that older people would warn me “be careful what you do; someone in heaven is watching”. Could those that have gone on really watch us? I asked Grandpa if he could see us; observe us. He answered “no”. Surprised, I asked again “so, you can’t watch us”? Again, he said “no”. Makes sense. Why would we go on to our rest, only to have to watch the mess down here?

At this point, he turned to leave, so I grabbed his arm and asked him to give me something, some instruction, advice. He didn’t respond. I asked again, anything. My hopes were that he would give me some spiritual counsel; what he gave me was not at all what I was ready for. He looked right into my eyes and said “within two years, a great volcano will erupt in Wyoming, setting off catastrophic events across this country”. I immediately thought about the San Andreas and New Madrid fault lines. Then another thought hit me: “this will open us up to our enemies”, to which he replied “ yes, and they will come Quickly, led by evil men.” I awoke in a sweat.

Since this event, I’ve started researching, and found an enormous volcano beneath Yellowstone Park. There have been 1400 tremors there in the last two years. There are many articles dealing with this matter. I believe we should prepare.

Anyone who knows me realizes that I don’t seek the spotlight. I’m not a prognosticator of future events. I only know that the time is near, and that we must prepare. The Lord does not want us to fear, but prepare, in faith believing his words “my people will I preserve”. Any temporal preparations we make must be done, not for self preservation, but for the opportunity to witness. Our greatest goal should be, as Captain Moroni sought in Alma 21, is to "prepare the hearts of the people". This will be a time of great confusion and grief. We believers need to stand in the gap and be ready to help. What a day of missionary work it will be!

Since I had this dream, I’ve been praying for direction as to what I am to do with this experience. Do I take it to the church, and risk looking like a fool? Do I ignore it, and if the calamity takes place, and the people were caught unaware, remaining the eternal fool? I just wanted the Lords expectation.

On the night of January 4th, I had another dream. In this dream, I was at our church campground for a reunion. A young woman, probably college age, asked me if I could give her a ride home; that there was nothing here for her. I said "yes", and told her I'd like to discuss this with her. As we got into my car, one brother called me into the dining hall, telling me I was needed. As I entered the room, all of the people were surrounding someone. When I entered the circle, there was a woman, laying on the floor with her head propped up against the wall. I recognized this woman! Only, I remembered her much healthier; she presently looked like she would soon pass away. Believing I was sent to administer to her, I bent over and asked how I could be of service. She then asked me to tell her my dream. Surprised by her request, I knelt down next to her, and shared the dream. When I was done, she exclaimed “I believe it! I believe it!” I looked at her, and to my amazement, she looked much healthier; she had, taken strength. The dream ended.

As I awoke and pondered the dream, my thoughts were taken back to the woman. I knew her! But who was she? I then felt the Lord speak to my mind, and tell me that she was the Church. The young girl represented the youth of the Church. I was going to deal with her, but a more pressing issue came to me: the Church. When the Church responds, so will the youth.

Prayer Request for Gary Inman

Please pray for a friend of mine, Gary Inman and his grandson. They were gracious and kind to mow my yard for me last summer. Gary's wife passed away last Friday so he is all alone now and needs to move to a smaller home. He is 76 years old and has health problems, but he fell backwards in November and his injuries still cause him a lot of pain. His grandson had received news of a new job just before his grandmother's passing, but it is 200 miles south of here. Gary doesn't want to move there because of his lawncare business here.

Dear Ones,

There are great numbers of Christians who have accepted a false doctrine of the rapture of the saints based upon a misinterpretation of Daniel 9:27. They detach the 70th week of this wonderful prophecy and carry it forward and are still waiting for its fulfillment! There is nothing in this prophecy to indicate the time periods mentioned in it are not continuous. Daniel’s prophecy of 70 weeks was fulfilled nearly two thousand years ago.
Howard B. Rand wrote of those who chronologically detach week seventy from the preceding sixty nine weeks of Daniel’s prophecy: “There has never been a more hair-brained theorization of prophecy than that contained in the teachings of those who hold this “parenthesis” or “gap” theory (Rand.1948. Study in Daniel. Page 228).
“This error of detaching week seventy from the rest of Daniel’s prophecy of seventy weeks has given birth to a false theology accepted by millions of faithful Christians today who have been deceived. Those who have accepted this deception believe that at the beginning of the detached week of seven years before Jesus comes, the saints will be raptured. They believe the rapture of the righteous will be followed by seven years of tribulation punctuated at the three and one-half year point by the rise of the antichrist who will sign a peace treaty with Israel. Those who are waiting for these events to transpire before the Lord’s coming have been deceived. Beware of these false teachings.
Those who embrace any of the versions of the rapture theory believe they will be raptured before Jesus comes. Those who think they will be raptured at least 3 ½ years before the Lord comes have been deceived. The Lord will quite likely come while they are still waiting to be raptured! They will be numbered with the foolish virgins spoken of in the Parable of the Virgins (Matthew 25:1-12).
When Jesus was asked: “What is the sign of thy coming?” He answered: “Take heed that no man deceive you” (Matthew 24:4-5). The truth is the Lord can come at any time, even today. “Be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh” (Matthew 24:51 IV; 24:44 KJV).

The Prophecy of Seventy Weeks

I have been asked, “Why don’t you believe in the rapture?” Although the word rapture is not used in the Scriptures, I do believe the saints who are alive when Jesus comes will be “caught up together into the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). This “catching up” at the time of the Lord’s second coming could be called a rapture but it is quite different than the rapture theory based upon a misinterpretation of Daniel’s prophecy of 70 weeks, which is recorded in Daniel 9:25-27. I will endeavor to give the correct interpretation of this prophecy.



The prophecy of 70 weeks delivered to Daniel by Gabriel is very important because it gives a bird’s-eye view of the future history of the nation of Israel and the coming and ministry of the Messiah.
We will begin with Daniel 9:25: “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem, . . .” Ezra, the priest and scribe of Israel was commissioned to go forth and lead the Israelites back to Jerusalem to restore and build it in 457 B.C. This marks the beginning of the 70 weeks of years.
Continuing with Daniel 9:25: “. . . unto Messiah the Prince shall be 7 weeks and three score and two weeks [69 weeks = 483 years], 457 B.C. + 483 years = 27 A.D. Jesus was born in 4 B.C. In 27 A.D. he would have been 30 years old. “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age” (Luke 3:30 IV; 3:23 KJV). This was his age at the time of his baptism and the beginning of his public ministry. The period beginning with year 457 B.C. and adding 70 weeks, or 490 years, ends in 34 A.D. Beginning with the Lord’s ministry in A.D. 27 and adding the 70th week [7 years] = A.D. 34. Jesus was crucified after 3 ½ years of ministry in 31 A.D. During the remaining 3 ½ years of the 70th week the Lord’s “other sheep” received his ministry, 31-34 A.D.
Gabriel continues as it is recorded in Daniel 9:26: “And after [the] three score and two weeks [7 + 62 = 69 weeks] shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself . . .” According to Strong’s Concordance the Hebrew word for cut-off means allotted, separated or decreed. It does not indicate the death of Jesus. It simply means that after 483 years the ministry of the Messiah would begin. The earthly ministry of Jesus was limited to the House of Israel. He said: “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the House of Israel” (Matthew 15:23 IV; 15:24 KJV). After the 70th week, the gospel was extended to the Gentiles.
Gabriel’s final words in Daniel 9:27 are a prophecy of the earthly ministry of Jesus and his servants in the 70th week: “And he [the Messiah] shall confirm the covenant with many for one week . . .”. Until the midst [middle] of the week [3 ½ years] Jesus personally ministered to the Jews [Judah] in the land of Jerusalem. During the last 3 ½ years of the 70th week, Jesus brought ministry to his “other sheep:” “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice . . . (John 10:16).
The Lord gave personal ministry to his “other sheep” in Meso-America, and in other places during the final 3 ½ years of the 70th week. Jesus certainly confirmed the covenant with many in the Western Hemisphere during that period. Jesus told the “other sheep” of Meso-America: “And verily, verily, I say unto you, that I have other sheep which are not of this land; neither of the land of Jerusalem . . . who have not heard my voice . . . I shall go unto them (3 Nephi 7:20, 24-26).
Continuing with Gabriel’s message, in Daniel 9:27: “. . . in the midst of the week [at the mid-point of the 70th week, or 3 ½ years after his public ministry began] he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, . . .” At the time of the Feast of Passover in the spring of 31 A.D., the Lamb of God was slain. The veil of the temple was rent, signifying that the sacrificial system had ended. This was “the great and last sacrifice . . . an infinite and eternal sacrifice . . . there should be a stop to the shedding of blood; then shall the law of Moses be fulfilled . . . and that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God” (Alma 16:210-215).
The final words of Gabriel recorded in Daniel 9:27 are these: . . . and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” Gabriel did not paint a pretty picture for the House of Israel.
Jesus wept over Jerusalem. He, as Gabriel, used the word desolate in describing the Jews. “O Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Ye who kill the prophets, and will stone them who are sent unto you; how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not. Behold, your house is left unto you desolate!” (Matthew 23:36-38).
