AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS
JULY, 2019
Around and About the Centre Place by High Priest Paul J. Gage, Independence, Missouri.
Greetings to all the Dear Saints in Australia. I trust the good Lord is continuing to bless each of you with a daily outpouring of His Divine Love. As we sing, "There's no love to me, like the Love of Jesus." I pray that also, out of that great love He is blessing you very abundantly, for Jesus states in John 10:10, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Summer is in full swing, with youth camps, reunions, the Pastors of Zion annual Sunday evening Preaching Series which runs from June 9-August 11 and many other activities. The Conference of Restoration Elders and Pastors of Zion have once again teamed up to sponsor the Restoration Branch Family Reunion and Conference of Restoration Elders which was held June 23-28, 2019 in Independence, Missouri at Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch/CPRS. The theme was "Be Ye Transformed.." from Romans 12:1-2. All the daily themes and teachers can be found in tidings of Zion issues 126 and 127. Being transformed is usually something we think should happen to someone else, but each day we should seek to be transformed to be more like our Lord, Jesus Christ. You may remember the popular toy, The Transformers" from a few years ago. You could do various things to the toy to transform it from one thing to another. Scriptures tell us we are to "be a new creature in Christ. That becomes our daily challenge, to have His Image in our countenances so others can see Him in us. The Sunday theme was: "Be ye transformed for our journey to Zion". Zion, to many, is like a mirage. Something you see, or think you see somewhere off in the distance, but you never can get to it. We could say that Zion has been a mirage to the Restoration since 1830, always beckoning, but off in the distance because of all the clouds we allow to keep it away. A mirage is an optical effect, a trick, if you will, that certain atmospheric conditions play on our eyes. Satan is good at producing mirages to distract us from God's purposes. May we shake off the coals from our garments and the cataracts off our eyes and wake up very soon to find ourselves in Zion and see it as it is, an Ensign to the world with Jesus the Center. Attending this year were: Eric and Pam Odida from Kenya, Juan and Tina Reyes from Mexico, and Ram Baral from Nepal, currently living in South Carolina. Saints came from12 states in the USA. The main services of the reunion were live streamed and can be watched on the Waldo website. http://www.waldoavenuerestorationbranch,org. The Tidings carries a list of branches that live stream their services. The missionary groups continue to function and there will be numerous trips made in the months ahead to Canada, England, Germany, India, Kenya, Nepal, the Philippines, possibly Russia and other places. The South East Asia and Australian Ministries (SEAAM) Board met during the reunion to discuss the outreach of SEAAM in the future. The make-up of the SEAAM Board has changed. Brother Paul Gage has resigned after eight years on the Board. Brother Kevin Humphrey and Tom Rindels were added to the Board. We are happy to provide ministry to the Saints in Australia, as we are called.

Riches From The Scriptures. by Elder Neil Kerswell, Queensland, Australia. Vol 4 Chapter 1 Bind up the Law and Seal up the Testimony I would like to share with you today what it means to Bind up the Law and Seal up the Testimony. Let us start with D&C 108: 13A-B. [Sec 108:13a] Behold, and lo, there are none to deliver you, for ye obeyed not my voice when I called to you out of the heavens, ye believed not my servants; and when they were sent unto you ye received them not; [Sec 108:13b] wherefore, they sealed up the testimony and bound up the law, and ye were delivered over unto darkness; these shall go away into outer darkness, where there is weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth. Behold, the Lord your God hath spoken it. Amen. From this scripture we see that when God has reached unto us by the power of His Spirit and God’s servants have shared the truth of God with us, and if we receive it not and altogether reject God, we have had our opportunity in this probation period and because of our Hearts desire and actions, the Testimony is sealed up and the Law is bound up in our lives. We are then delivered over to darkness both in this world and in the world to come because we chose it. Something important to remember here is it is of paramount importance that those who share the truth are in harmony with the movement of Gods Spirit and have the gift of humility and love as they share, they must be in time and in step with God. I think you, like I, have all seen Priesthood men out of step over the years, trying to force instead of teaching. This isn’t what the scriptures are telling us. Let’s read another. D&C 85:22A-23B [Sec 85:22a] Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned, to warn his neighbour; therefore, they are left without excuse, and their sins are upon their own heads. [Sec 85:22b] He that seeketh me early shall find me, and shall not be forsaken. [Sec 85:23a] Therefore, tarry ye, and labor diligently, that you may be perfected in your ministry, to go forth among the Gentiles for the last time, as many as the mouth of the Lord shall name, to bind up the law, and seal up the testimony, and to prepare the Saints for the hour of judgment, which is to come; [Sec 85:23b] that their souls may escape the wrath of God, the desolation of abomination, which await the wicked, both in this world, and in the world to come. We see here that there is a great responsibility upon those that are warned to warn their neighbour, and just as great is the responsibility of the hearer to listen and respond. For there are consequences attached according to our response to God.
John 14:21 -24. John 14:21] He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me; and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. [John 14:22] Judas saith unto him, (not Iscariot,) Lord, how is it thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? [John 14:23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. [John 14:24] He that loveth me not, keepeth not my sayings; and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. God is looking for people, individuals who will love Him and keep His sayings. Isn’t that what we as parents hope for, loving and obedient children when they are growing up and eventually adults who can stand firm and hold on in faith believing. It’s really not much God is asking, considering the sacrifice and price He was willing to make for us to have a real opportunity. Jacob in the Book of Mormon puts it another way. Jacob 1:18-20 [Jacob 1:18] For I, Jacob, and my brother Joseph, had been consecrated priests, and teachers of this people by the hand of Nephi. [Jacob 1:19] And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads, if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence; [Jacob 1:20] Wherefore, by laboring with our mights, their blood might not come upon our garments; otherwise, their blood would come upon our garments, and we would not be found spotless at the last day. Jacob is talking about the same thing only he explains it differently by adding the responsibility Priesthood carry in the sharing of their ministry. Jacob and Joseph had been ordained to the priesthood and saw it as they would be responsible for the people’s sins if they didn’t teach them with everything they had. If they could manage to do this faithfully then the blood of the people would not come upon their garments, this is because the people will have been given all the tools they need to lay hold upon Eternal life through Christ, therefore they have the law and can be judged by it. Whereas if Jacob and Joseph didn’t take every opportunity to share when they could and people were left ignorant for no good reason. Jacob and Joseph would also bare some of the people’s sins. It would certainly keep you looking for opportunity to share. Ultimately we know it is Christ who takes away the sins of the world, however priesthood are Christ’s servants and are accountable in time and eternity for the discharge of their ministry. Questions Priesthood should ask themselves regularly 1. What does God want me to teach? 2. What level are the people at spiritually who I am about to teach? This determines where we start from and how far we go each time. Everybody is different and learn at different rates this all must be taken into consideration. Some people need to hear something five times before it takes root, but when it does it goes deeper than others. Just like at school some people learn in a class environment while others need one on one tuition to truly take it in. God has created us different and expects we as ministry will be sensitive to His creation and love them through it, as he has loved us with a life of sacrifice. I hope you the reader can see there is a lot more to Binding up the Law and Sealing up the testimony than what we might think. 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8 [1 Thessalonians 2:7] But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children; [1 Thessalonians 2:8] So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. This is the attitude we must have when sharing Truth, we must be gentle, viewing all as our cherished children, having affection for people, not only sharing the Gospel, but also of ourselves because those whom we share with are dear to us. [Matthew 10:14] Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore wise servants, and as harmless as doves. Our church holds the power to bind, in Earth and Heaven. Surely this is great, however unto those whom much is given much is required in attitude, preparation and action for our Lord. If we can have a balanced understanding and approach, and acquire the qualities demanded of both Priesthood and membership in true service of our Lord, then we shall surely be blessed. Those that altogether desire to reject God can do so and are accountable according to the Law and testimony. Those that hear God’s voice and respond have opened unto them the riches of heaven. John 10:27-30 [John 10:27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; [John 10:28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. [John 10:29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. [John 10:30] I and my Father are one. My prayer is that all who read these words shall be persuaded to hear God’s voice as revealed in His scriptures and be known in heaven as His sheep.

A wonderful testimony by Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon recorded in the Doctrine and Covenants
76:3g. And, now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him, that he lives; for we saw him, even on the right hand of God;
76:3h. and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father; that by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created; and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God.

76:3g. And, now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him, that he lives; for we saw him, even on the right hand of God;
76:3h. and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father; that by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created; and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God.

Francis Harper Message for 6/28/2019
Dear Ones,
I recall seeing the words, “No Fear” displayed in car windows and in other conspicuous places. I believe this slogan was first selected by those who were boasting of their own strength and of their ability to take care of themselves. If this was the stance of those who posted these words, they will at some point in their lives, discover it to be a false premise.
I recall the scripture: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10). The word fear in this verse quite likely is speaking of showing respect, or reverence, for the Lord rather them being afraid of Him.
A.W. Tozer wrote: “The only fear I have is fearing that I may not be doing the will of God. I know if I am doing His will I have no reason to fear.” The Lord has said: “I, the Lord, am bound, when ye do what I say, but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise” (Doctrine and Covenants 81:3-b).
Neither Goliath nor David were filled with fear when they met to fight with one another. Goliath “said to David, come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field” (1 Samuel 17:44). He could have written “No Fear” on his shield.
“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield; but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee . . . that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel” (1 Samuel 17:45-46).
The disciples asked: “Master, tell us concerning thy coming? And he answered them . . . there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity, like the sea and the waves roaring. The earth also shall be troubled, and the waters of the great deep; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth” (Luke 21:24026).
Most of us believe we are living near the day of the Lord’s coming when men’s hearts will be failing them for fear as they witness things which are coming on the earth. As we encounter these fearsome things in the coming months, or years, we need to remember that faith is the antidote for fear. How strong is our faith? Our faith will be tested. Will our anchor hold in the storms of life? Is our faith “Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love”? (Hymns of the Restoration, We Have an Anchor #259).
“And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves; but he was asleep. And his disciples came unto him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us, else we perish. And he said unto them, why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm” (Matthew 8:23-27).
“Oh, for a faith that will not shrink, though pressed by every foe, that when in danger knows no fear, in darkness feels no doubt” (Hymns of the Restoration Hymn #278).
Those who have a strong, enduring faith, could have as their slogan, “No Fear.” Let this be our theme song: “God is my strong salvation, what foe have I to fear? In darkness and temptation, my light, my help is near. Though hosts encamp around me, firm to the fight I stand. What terror can confound me with God at my right hand? (Hymns of the Restoration, Hymn #288).
My Love to All,
High Priest Francis Harper

Speak the Word of God With Boldness
The truth needs to be spoken boldly. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear . . . Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness (1 John 4:17-18).
The Saints of the first century prayed: “Grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word . . . and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:29, 31).
Stephen, was the first of many Christian martyrs, who boldly declared the truth in their generation. Stephen did not hesitate to speak the truth to those who resisted it. “And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the Scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council (Acts 6:10-12).
This did not intimidate Stephen. He bravely said to the elders of the Sanhedrin: “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart, and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost; as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them which showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers” (Acts 7:51-52).
“Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, and cast him out of the city, and stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul” (Acts 7:57-58). This was Saul of Tarsus who later became Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles.
After Saul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, “straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God” (Acts 9:20). After returning to Jerusalem, Saul endeavored “to join himself to the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. And he was with them [the apostles] . . . at Jerusalem. And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians; but they went about to slay him” (Acts 9:26-29).
The first century Christians fearlessly spoke the truth to all who resisted them. What did the early Christians possess causing them to be so bold and fearless in spite of the opposition they faced? First, many of them were eye-witnesses of the resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ; they had powerful testimonies that Jesus was much more than an ordinary mortal man, he was the Son of God. Secondly, they were “all filled with the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:4). Lastly, being filled with the Holy Ghost, they were “humble and full of love,” which qualified them as servants of the Lord (Doctrine and Covenants 11:4-6).
All of us who “have desires to serve God are called to the work, for behold, the field is white already to harvest, and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perish not, but bringeth salvation to his soul” (Doctrine and Covenants 4:1-c).
That which qualified Stephen, Paul, Peter, and the many others who boldly spoke the Word of God in the first century will also qualify us as valiant witnesses in our day: 1) a testimony of Jesus, 2) filled with the Spirit, 3) Humble and full of love.
Be Bold!
Be Strong!
For the Lord thy God is with thee.

Dear Ones,
The sorrow we feel at the sudden loss of a loved one like our grand-daughter Whitney cannot be expressed or conveyed by written words.
She was born on November 8, 1996. As we drove to the hospital early that morning we noticed there was a crescent moon in the eastern sky. It was lying on its back with the ends turned up like a smile on a happy face. Directly above the moon was “the bright and morning star.”
We thanked God for this celestial sign that He had indeed intervened, as with Hannah in 1 Samuel 1. Terri, Whitney’s mother, like Hannah, had fervently prayed for many years for a child of her own. She was 43 when Whitney was born. God had given us another precious grandchild to hold. We recalled the words, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last . . . I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star” (Revelation 22:13, 16).
Whitney died in the early hours of June 16, 2019. The death of a loved one is the most painful of all human experiences. Even Jesus wept at the death of his friend Lazarus of Bethany. “Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!” (John 11:36).
Jesus gives us the comfort, hope and assurance we need at a time such as this. He comforted Martha, the sister of Lazarus with these words: “Thy brother shall rise again . . . I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; And whoso liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, yea, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God . . .” (John 11:23-27).
When will we see Whitney again? If we are faithful and worthy we will see her again when Jesus returns “in the clouds with ten thousands of his saints in the Kingdom . . .” (Revelation 1:7). For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the tump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then they who are alive, shall be caught up . . . to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we be ever with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).
After receiving the news of Whitney’s death, shortly after 5 A.M. Sunday, June 16, these words came to me: “Come, Lord, Jesus.” This should be our prayer. Here are the words of John: “Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen. (Revelation 22:20-21).
My mother, Bessie Whitney, was only 18 when she married. Her mother Hattie Whitney died less than a year later. Shortly after the death of her mother, as Bessie was at the sink washing dishes, shedding tears, saying, “poor mama,” she was corrected. And these words came to her, “No, not poor Mama; poor me.” She was made aware that her mother was with Jesus in the “far better place,” according to the words of the apostle Paul: “Now I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better; Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you” (Philippians 1:23-24).
Whitney is in the “far better” place. We will see her again; soon.

Dear Ones,
The account of the baptism of James W. Brown, Sr., illustrates the truth that baptism is a divine requirement for our salvation. And in the ordinances of the gospel “the power of godliness is manifest [ed] unto men in the flesh” (Doctrine and Covenants 83:3c).
“Will you take care of my dad’s funeral when his time comes? I was asked this question by “Jimmy” Brown, Jr., during a telephone conversation on Sunday evening, May 27, 2001. He explained that his father had been told by a cardiologist that there was nothing more they could do for him, and it might be only a matter of weeks or a few months before his death. I assured Jimmy that I would officiate at his father’s funeral if I was still here and able. Then he added, ‘Dad has never been baptized.’ I promised him I would visit with his father about baptism at 3:00 p.m. the next day, which was Memorial Day.
“Jim Brown, Sr., had been crippled since early childhood. He was only eighteen months of age when he became a victim of a disease known as infantile paralysis, and later as polio. Since then he had survived bypass surgeries, and now he had an inoperable heart valve problem.
“I wondered about baptizing Jim in the cold, spring water of our baptismal fount. Getting him and his wheel chair in and out of the fount would be difficult. Since the time of his death was apparently so near, I would not have time to teach him the pre-baptismal classes. Would his baptism be ‘deathbed repentance?’ I had never seen him at church. Would he be a worthy candidate? I began to ponder and pray about these things. I knew I could never tell him he did not need to be baptized.
“The time for the scheduled visit came; I felt unprepared. I prayed that the Lord would give me the appropriate words to say. We had driven less than a block from our home when we met our friends, Carol and Dana McElwain, walking up the street toward us. I asked Iris, my ‘chauffeur,’ to stop for a moment. Dana asked: ‘Where are you two going?’ I explained our mission, and the challenges we were facing with baptizing Jim Brown. Carol smiled as she said, ‘We have a good Christian friend in Omaha who has a heated therapy pool, equipped to lift persons like Jim.’ I am sure she would arrange for his baptism in her pool. Her words were a message from the Lord.
“As we continued on our way. I knew that God had answered my prayer. I could not deny that God had arranged our meeting with the McElwains. The timing of our departure had to be precise. If we had left home a minute or two later, they would have been past our driveway and we would have missed them. If they had been walking on the sidewalk instead of in the street, we would have just waved at each other passing by. If we had not stopped to converse with them, we would not have received the inspired message they had been sent to deliver.
“I also knew the Lord had given us much more than the knowledge of a place for Jim’s baptism. He had given his endorsement of every aspect of the ordinance. I could confidently proceed. Jim had been approved by the Lord as a worthy candidate. Baptism by immersion had been endorsed as the proper mode or method of baptizing. And last, but not least, I knew my authority to perform the ordinance had also been approved.
“Jim and his wife, Sylvia, raised eleven children; nine of whom were their own. When the director of the Wellness Center asked, How about the third Sunday of June; Father’s Day, for his baptism?, I knew this was the divinely appointed day. Surely, this was another touch of God. Can you picture their children, accompanied by their spouses and the grandchildren, surrounding the therapy pool, watching the baptism of Grandpa Jim? What a witness this was to their family! None will ever forget this beautiful experience. The family lingered after the service, savoring the presence of the Holy Spirit. Since that day, several of his children and grandchildren have been baptized. Jim Brown, Sr. died three months later, on September 20, 2001.

The Great Commission is: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:18-19 IV; 28:19-20). These words were spoken on the day of the Lord’s ascension.
We, as disciples of Jesus in 2019, and “unto the end of the world,” are commissioned to fulfill the Great Commission. The teaching and baptizing tasks have never been greater. I recall the world’s population being about two billion in the early 1950’s. Now there are more than seven billion inhabitants on the earth and the Lord loves each one!
“And the Lord said unto me, Marvel not that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people must be born again. Yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and fallen state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his sons and daughters and thus they become new creatures; and unless they do this, they can in no wise inherit the kingdom of God” (Mosiah 11:187-188). All of us who know the Lord Jesus, are called to be participants in fulfilling his great commission.
“Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God; for, behold, the Lord your redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent and come unto him. And he hath risen again from the dead, that he might bring all men unto him on conditions of repentance. And how great is his joy in the soul that repenteth. Wherefore, you are called to cry repentance unto this people. And if it so be that you should labor all your days, in crying repentance unto this people, and bring save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!” (Doctrine & Covenants 16:3 c-f).
“And you shall fall down and worship the Father in my name; and you must preach unto the world, saying, you must repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ; for all men must repent and be baptized, and not only men, but women; and children who have arrived to the years of accountability (Doctrine and Covenants 16:3-c-d).
Following faith and repentance, baptism is the doorway to the Kingdom of God. Bakht Singh heard the Lord say: “The time of your father’s departure is near. He is not ready. Go see him.”So he went to see his father and asked: “Father, has the Lord in any way spoken to you?” His father said, “Yes, He has spoken to me to come to Madras [India] and give my testimony and be baptized.” A great change took place in his father after his baptism. He came out of the water with a shining face and said, “I never knew that it is so wonderful to obey God.” Obedience brings joy.
There are fifty one references in the Gospels and the Epistles about baptism. The double witnessed testimony given by this father and son is strong evidence that baptism by immersion and authority is an absolute divine requirement and should never be taken lightly. It is not optional. “Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God” (John 3:5). There is no other way! Surely you have a friend who needs to know this!

Dear Ones,
The Holocaust should be a solemn warning to all of us who live in this “choice land above all other lands which the Lord . . . preserved for a righteous people” (Ether 1:29). The Holocaust should remind us of these words of Scripture: “And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God, that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fullness come(s) that ye may not bring down the fullness of the wrath of God [as during the Holocaust] upon you . . . Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it, shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ . . . And it is not until the fullness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off” (Ether 1:34, 33).
The Holocaust is evidence that there are consequences when ever the Lord’s covenant people fail to fulfill their calling, or neglect to keep their covenant promises! The citizens of our beloved land and the members of our churches, including the Restoration Branches, need to be made aware of the severity of the Lord’s judgments. The natural man prefers to live on easy street rather than to fervently seek to establish the cause of Zion.
The words of Nephi have never been more appropriate: “And there shall be many which shall say, Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless, fear God, he will justify in committing a little sin: yea, lie a little, take the advantage of one because of his words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this. And do all these things, for tomorrow we die; and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the Kingdom of God” (2 Nephi 12:10-11).
Many ask, “Are you saved?” I believe Jesus might say, “you are not saved until you are like me.” John wrote: “We know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him . . . And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” This will not happen without dedication and prayer.
John added: We know that we have passed from death to life because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.” These statements of John define salvation.
Nephi was speaking of church people when he wrote: “Because of pride, and because of false teachers and false doctrine, their churches have become corrupted; . . . they rob the poor, because of their fine sanctuaries; . . . They wear stiff necks and high heads; and because of pride, and wickedness and abominations, and whoredoms, they have all gone astray, save it be a few, who are the humble followers of Christ (2 Nephi 12:14-16). If the “shoe fits” we need to repent.
Nephi continued: “Wo unto them that turn aside the just for a thing of nought, and revile against that which is good, and say it is of no worth” (2 Nephi 12:19). I recall a person saying to me: “I have no feeling for what you say.”
We need to remember: “For the day will come that the Lord God will speedily visit the inhabitants of the earth; and in that day that they are fully ripe in iniquity, they shall perish” (2 Nephi 12:20).
My Love to All,
High Priest Francis Harper

“Unto Whomsoever Much Is Given, Of Him Shall Much Be Required”
Luke 12:57 IV; 12:48 KJV
Much will be required of those who have been given much. “That servant who knew his Lord’s will, and prepared not for his coming, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes” (Luke 12:56 IV; 12:47 KJV).
The citizens of our nation; the members of the Church of Jesus Christ, and especially those who have received the additional light and truth of the Restoration have been given much. As stewards of these great blessings we will be held accountable. The Lord’s cursing of the barren fig tree [Israel] supports this statement.
“Now in the morning, as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and there was not any fruit on it, but leaves only. And he said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward, for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when the disciples saw this, they marveled and said, How soon is the fig tree withered away!” (Matthew 21:16-18 IV; 21:18-20 KJV).
“He spake also this parable, A certain husbandman had a fig tree planted in the vineyard. He came and sought fruit thereon and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none. Cut it down, why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about and dung it. And if it bear fruit, the tree is saved, and if not, after that thou shalt cut it down” (Luke 13:6-9).
These parables prove the Lord expects his covenant people to bear fruit. In A.D. 70, about forty years after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, his prophecies were fulfilled that Jerusalem would be trodden down by the Gentiles, and there shall not be left here upon this temple, one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down” (Matthew 24:2; Luke 21:20-23). The Christians had fled to Pella near the Sea of Galilee, where they were spared the terrible suffering of the Jews at Jerusalem. The Holy City was destroyed by the Romans.
Jesus prophesied that the destruction of Jerusalem was only the beginning of the sorrows which would come upon the Jewish people” (Matthew 24:19 IV). The Jews also suffered during the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition and finally their sorrows reached a climax during the Holocaust, when an estimated six million of the Lord’s ancient covenant people perished. The Holocaust was the consequence of their sins. God had called Israel to become “a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6). They failed.
Jesus “came unto his own, and his own received him not” (John 1:11). He wept over Jerusalem, saying, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou who killest the prophets, and stonest them who are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen her brood under her wings, and ye would not. Behold your house is left unto you desolate. And verily I say unto you, ye shall not know me, until ye have received from the hand of the Lord a just recompense for all your sins; until the time come when ye shall say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord” (Luke 13:34-36). The judgments of God upon the Jews could have been averted if they had accepted Jesus as their Messiah and had followed him, but they crucified him!
There is much for us to learn from the Jews and their sufferings. We have also been called and chosen to be a holy nation. We need to understand the significance of the call of God upon our lives and what will happen to us if we turn away from God and the covenants we have made to follow Jesus.
Surely the cup of iniquity of the USA is nearly full. The events of 9-11-01 were a wakeup call. The inhabitants of this blessed land need to repent and turn back to God before it is too late! We are witnessing “only the beginning of our sorrows” if we continue to ignore the warnings of impending disasters.
We can take comfort in the promise: “My people will I preserve” (Doctrine and Covenants 36:17-e). The question is: “Are we his people?”

Francis Harper Message for 6/7/2019
Dear Ones,
The Holocaust should be a solemn warning to all of us who live in this “choice land above all other lands which the Lord . . . preserved for a righteous people” (Ether 1:29).
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Mary Evelyn Wright Obituary
Mary Evelyn Wright, 96, of Independence, MO, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM on Monday, June 24 with a service following at 2:00, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence. Graveside service will be held immediately following at Mount Washington Cemetery.
Mary was born on March 28, 1923 in Brashear, MO, to Ancie and Cassie (Moore) Mauck. Mary graduated from Brashear High School, where she played center on the basketball team. During World War II, she moved to Independence to work at Lake City Army Ammunition plant. There she met her future husband, Harold F. Wright. They were wed on June 25, 1944. Harold and Mary owned Wright’s Upholstery shop, first in Lee’s Summit and then in Independence. They were active members of South Crysler RLDS and later Beacon Heights RLDS congregation. She was a Cub Scout den leader for many years. Later, Mary attended South Crysler Restoration Branch.
Mary loved gardening and tended beautiful flower gardens. She traveled and collected souvenir spoons from the places she visited. She especially enjoyed sewing and gifted her many great-grandchildren with quilts and cloth ABC books. Her children and grandchildren loved her homemade pies. She loved helping people in any way she could. She could often be found giving friends a ride to church, helping with meals at church, making a homemade card for someone, or just taking the time to work on a craft project with a grandchild. Her candy jar was always full of something delicious for the grandkids.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Harold F. Wright, her parents, and 6 siblings. She is survived by her sons, Ryland (Janice) of Littleton, CO; Bill (Ann) of Trimble, MO; Tom (Deyanne) of Blue Springs, MO; and Vince (Kelley) of Independence, MO; 11 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Invitation to the ENTIRE Church

Invitation to the ENTIRE Church
Saints,
Have you ever wondered how your brothers and sisters are doing in Russia, the Philippians, Germany or the many other countries in Africa or Central America? Or maybe England, Nepal, India or Australia? What about what is happening in the domestic field, Canada, or with the various councils that provide ministry all year long?
I want to encourage the whole church to come together this Sunday, June 23, at 2:00 PM at Waldo for the opening session of the Elders Conference. This has been advertised as the first elders session of the conference, but this has always been one of my highlights of the conference. At our last Coordinating Council meeting, I was asked to invite everyone, not just Elders, that can come to hear all the incredible things God is doing in His Church all over the world. This will be an Elders session so they will sit together (for voting purposes), but please ALL come and see the great things that are taking place. We have at least 7 major positive announcements that will be presented during the week of conference, and many will be presented this Sunday afternoon. All the Missionary boards and Councils will be given the opportunity to share what is taking place in their fields.
Come and be uplifted and encouraged!

I would like to thank all those who contributed as well as those who prayed for Pressler's medical bills. At the present time we have received enough funds to cover his expenses and even some extra. Those extra funds have been placed in an account to assist any future needs of the Odida Family.
Pamela told me last night that right after the special prayer service there was an immediate turnaround in his health. Eric and Pam are in Independence now for the Elder's Conference. He will be preaching at Missionary Branch this Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. and next Friday evening at Waldo at 7:00 p.m.
Thanks again
