November 2019 Australian Restoration News

AUSTRALIAN  RESTORATION  NEWS

NOVEMBER, 2019 Around and About the Centre Place
by High Priest Paul J. Gage, Independence, Missouri.

November greetings to all the wonderful Saints in the land down under. It is hard to believe that we only have two more months in 2019. This has certainly been a most unusual year, at least in the USA, in many ways. As a singing group, years ago, sang, "For the times, they are a changing." The one area in our lives that should only change for the better and grow stronger every day, is our relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. As long as we work diligently to keep that relationship steadfast and sure, we can handle what the adversary and/or the world throws at us. We have a hymn entitled, "O God, Our Help, in ages past, our Hope for years to come." speaks of time as an ever rolling stream that carries everything away. But our hope is in Jesus Christ and He has a plan for us of us, while on this earth, and in the here-after.Another hymn, "Father, When In Love to Thee," speaks of time- that is, our stewardship of time. It asks God to forgive us for the "times we've stood, for the things of lesser good. And for stewardship of time, we have spent, unlinked with thine." Many times, we all complain, and say, "I don't have enough time!" I have heard several references to Elbert A. Smith and Arthur Oakman, who, when men of the priesthood complained about working all day and coming home to take care of things around the house, and so forth and thus did not have time to perform their priesthood duties, The response was, All those men you work with have the same obligations you have, and they still find time to go to the bars, sports events, etc. "People do what they want to do." If I don't want to go to church, the slightest little thing can keep me away. On the other hand, if I want to go to church, there is essentially nothing, within my own power and agency, that can keep me away. The same applies to every aspect of our lives, fasting, praying, study, visiting, etc. Some will say, "Yes, that's ok, for you, but you don't know my circumstances. That is totally true, BUT God knows your circumstances and another line of that hymn states, "In the midst of sin and strife, teach us how to live a life, marked by graces of new birth. Worthy of Thy Saints on earth." November is the month of Thanksgiving in many countries. We should always offer daily prayers to God in thanksgiving for His continual care, guidance, and love. I Corinthians 15:57 ": But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."  I Thessalonians 5:18 "IN EVERYTHING give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Fall events are taking place around the Centre area. Each weekend in October and up into November, young people of various ages came together at Odessa Hills Campgrounds near Odessa, Missouri for fall retreats.. These campgrounds are owned and operated by the ten Restoration Branches that make up the Central Missouri area.
In months that have five Sundays  the Pastors of Zion (POZ) host a 5th Sunday Service at Waldo Avenue RB. The last one was September 29, 2019. It centered on the Priesthood retreat in Kirtland and the Women's retreat at Odessa Hills. It was live streamed and well worth watching. All the Sunday morning services at Waldo are live streamed, as well as several other branches. You can generally go to the website of  any branch by typing in the name of the branch and location. A great number of Restoration Branches have websites. Tidings of Zion: Issue # 128 should be in your homes by mid-November. It has several articles from the CRE Reunion in late June as well as a number of testimonies. We have not had any testimonies from Australia in a while. Center Place Restoration School, (CPRS) is off to a good start in another school year. The enrollment in K-12 is over 200 students. it is one of the very few Christian schools still operating in the Independence area. Great remodeling is about to take place in the sanctuary and foyer of the building. Administrator, Dan Schoenemann has a nice article in the Tidings of Zion.     The Missionary Boards are all functioning well and had missions in Kenya, India/Nepal and the Philippines through the year. Doug Smith is now living in Kenya and operating a medical clinic there. There will be other missions to various parts of the world in the next six months including Africa, Canada, the Philippines, and possibly Australia and Russia..

Riches From The Scriptures                               by Elder Neil Kerswell, Queensland,             Vol 4 Chapter 5       Testimony Ministry Weekend Recently Joanne and I travelled to visit with some isolated saints in Port Macquarie New South Wales – Merran, Gina Krieg, Lance and Georgia Dunn and their children Isabella, Xavier – Baptised, Charlotte, Malachi, and Sebastian.  We were originally invited to visit a couple of months or so earlier by Merran as two of her grandchildren had been baptised approx 12 months earlier and were in need of  follow up ministry. The weekend started with a meet and greet with dinner on Friday night as Georgia Dunn had never met us before and we would be teaching their children at times while they were working, therefore she wanted to make sure we were good people (this we greatly respected as we would do the same). Conversation came very easy and within no time Georgia was a good friend to us. Georgia later bore testimony at Sunday’s prayer and testimony service that for her and Lance it was a testimony straight away that their children felt at total ease with us. Xavier spent some time giving me a hug in front of mum and dad and apparently it was unusual for him to take to someone like that. My wife Joanne very quickly had the younger ones sharing openly with her. Georgia saw us both before she left Friday night to say she felt at ease with us teaching the children and that the 3 youngest probably wouldn’t participate as they were too young and not to be upset with them if they did, we put her mind at ease, no one would be upset with the children while we were there. Saturday started with being invited to Lance and Georgia’s Café – BitterSweet, for Breakfast, it’s a beautiful café which keeps them very busy and is something they enjoy doing together, the staff were wonderful and breakfast was incredible, they have a lot of regulars who must have thought it strange for us strangers to be treated like royalty. Georgia later that day shared that it was a record day for them in sales. Joanne and I thanked God as we weren’t allowed to pay for our breakfast through their kindness. We believe this was God’s blessing upon them. We were at Merran’s house by 9:00am and started our first class on God. There was wonderful participation by all the children and the only one to ever leave was the youngest Sebastian who would come and go and was very quiet allowing classes to proceed uninterrupted. God was with us by His Spirit and the contribution by all adults and children alike was a blessing to all. Xavier started the class laying on the lounge with a bad headache, however he still participated and before long was at the table with all of us. After a small break our next class was on Prayer. Gina arrived for that one and like before adults and children shared together and it just worked with the help of God’s Spirit. Lance came from work and picked up the children and we had lunch with Merran and Gina. That afternoon it was over to Lance and Georgia’s we could smell some slow cooking Lamb Roasts which made the mouth water. Everybody was present and we had a class/quiz on Noah and the flood, there was no winner even though we had two teams as everyone helped each other. We would read approx 10 verses from Inspired version of the bible and then answer 3 or 4 questions (the answers being in the scripture just read). Then we read some more, once again all present shared in a blessed manner. Next was a preaching service subject being “Baptism is the Gate – what’s next”. I had wonderful liberty of speech through the leadings of God’s spirit. The service was well received. I had no idea though till the next day’s Prayer and Testimony service that a miracle had occurred. Lance bore witness that God had spoken to him through my lips in the preaching service. There wasn’t many dry eyes as he shared. This is a witness to me that God is always capable of doing His own work, all we as ministry and congregation have to do is prepare and provide a humble worship environment and God does the rest. This is not the first Time I have born witness to this, many years ago when I was Pastor of Wynnum Branch, the priesthood for about a month were all lead to cover the same topic but in different ways according to their gifts. I was very happy with the unity at that time. Finally I had the preaching service and covered another topic which I felt led to do at the time. After the service people came up and said thank you for the ministry that day, then a woman came up and not only thanked me but told me what she had received which was a wonderful new understanding to her. The message she then shared was the topic which had been covered for the last month. I was so thankful to God. Some people pick up on things at different speeds. This woman still needed more of the previous topic even though most had understood already. God did not leave her behind. Lesson learned, God can do amazing things even when we are unaware, all we have to do is turn up prepared and the congregation who prepare also are blessed. Next day was prayer and testimony then Communion, I have already given away some of the blessings shared. God’s Spirit was with us and peace abounded. Joanne and I were blessed by each and every person we shared with. It was a rich experience that we will not forget. God was truly worshiped and honoured and he gave us much to be thankful for. It has been a joy sharing with all of you, God is great and blesses His people abundantly. May God bless all who are reading these words. Amen.

Tamworth News                          submitted by Sr. Helen Archer
We have been meeting each Sunday, with Elder Peter Archer presiding. Sunday the 20th the Opening Scripture came from DC 110:24b then Isaiah 40:1-13Brother Peter  told us the story of Joseph and the Coat of Many Colours  and how Joseph told Pharaoh that it was God that told him the meaning of his dream, not by his own power . Peter said that Joseph forgave his brothers, after even selling him into slavery. He also read some of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream speech” and that he hoped  we would all be one people one day, without any prejudice. Martin Luther’s hope was for us to be able to work together, to pray together............We have to be a loving people of all Nations and Nationality if we want to have the Kingdom of God. Birthdays & News David Archer  13th November       Danny Archer 24th November Abby and her family are now well. Give Me Thy Heart
1 “Give Me thy heart,” says the Father above,
No gift so precious to Him as our love;
Softly He whispers, wherever thou art,
“Gratefully trust Me, and give Me thy heart.”

Chorus:
“Give Me thy heart, give Me thy heart,”
Hear the soft whisper, wherever thou art:
From this dark world He would draw thee apart;
Speaking so tenderly, “Give Me thy heart.”

2 “Give Me thy heart,” says the Saviour of men,
Calling in mercy again and again;
“Turn now from sin, and from evil depart,
Have I not died for thee? Give Me thy heart.” (Chorus)

3 “Give Me thy heart,” says the Spirit divine,
“All that thou hast, to My keeping resign;
Grace more abounding is Mine to impart,
Make full surrender and give Me thy heart.” (Chorus)

THE WHITE LIE CAKE
Louise was to bake a cake for the Church Ladies Group, but forgot to do it until the last minute. She remembered it the morning  of the bake sale and after rummaging through cabinets, found a quick food cake mix and quickly made it while drying her hair, dressing, and finishing a few jobs around the house. When she finally took the cake from the oven, the centre had dropped flat and the cake was horribly disfigured. She realised there wasn’t enough time to bake another cake. So, being inventive, she looked around the house for something to build up the centre of the cake. She found it in the bathroom - a roll of toilet Paper. She placed it in the centre of the cake and then covered it with icing. Not only did the finished product look beautiful, it looked perfect! Before she left the house to drop the cake by the church and head for work, Louise woke her daughter Paige, and gave her some money and specific instructions to be at the bake sale the moment it opened at 9:30 and to buy the cake and bring it home. When Paige arrived at the sale, she found the cake had already been sold! Paige grabbed her cell phone and called her mum. Louise was horrified - she was beside herself! Everyone would know! What would they think? She would be ostracised, talked about, ridiculed!
All night, Louise lay awake in bed thinking about people pointing fingers at her and talking about her behind her back. She decided to pray about it and ask God for His help.
The next day, Louise promised herself she would try not to think about the cake, and would attend the ladies fancy luncheon at the home of a fellow church member and try to have a good time. She did not really want to attend because the hostess was a snob, who more than once had looked down her nose at the fact that Louise was a single parent and not from the founding families of the town. Having already given an RSVP she couldn't think of a believable excuse to stay home and decided to attend. The meal was elegant, the company was definitely of upper crust families, and to Louise's horror, the cake in question was presented for dessert! Louise felt the blood drain from her body when she saw the cake! She started out of her chair to tell the hostess all about it, but before she could get to her feet, the Mayor's wife said, "what a beautiful cake!" Louise, still stunned, sat back in her chair when she heard the hostess (who was a prominent church member) say, "Thank you, I baked it myself. "Louise smiled and thought to herself, "God is good."

Francis Harper Message for 10/25/2019

Solemn Warnings

“And then, at that day, before the Son of Man comes, the kingdom of heaven shall be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five of them were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them; but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Lest there be not enough for us and you, go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage; and the door was shut. Afterward, came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, ye know me not” (Matthew 25:1-11).

The parable of the virgins is a prophecy of how it will be when Jesus returns to establish his kingdom. The door will be closed to those who are not prepared for his coming. The unprepared will not know Jesus. They will only know about him. In the Scriptures knowing someone implies an intimate relationship. Such as in the scripture “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived” (Genesis 4:1 KJV; 4:2 IV). Do we know Jesus intimately? Do we converse with him often? Do we know his heart and will? Do we endeavor to please him in everything we do and say? Do we think of him often? Does he communicate with us? If we do not know Jesus intimately, it is not likely that we will be gathered with the saints to accompany the Lord when he comes. See 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.

Jesus said: “Verily I say unto you, it is not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, that shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. For the day soon cometh, that men shall come before me to judgment, to be judged according to their works. And many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name; and in thy name cast out devils; and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I say, ye never knew me; depart from me ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:30-33). We must “hear him,” and always do his perfect will and not our own. “Because strait [difficult to find] is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matthew 7:23 IV; 7:14 KJV).

Good parents warn their children of any danger that might harm or hinder them in any way, whether it be physical or spiritual. They warn their children because they love them. Similarly, our Heavenly Father’s warnings are an expression of his great love for us. King Benjamin warned: “If ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe to keep the commandments of God, and continue in the faith . . . even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish” (Mosiah 2:49). “Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12).

“And the day cometh that they who will not hear the voice of the Lord, neither the voice of his servants, neither give heed to the words of the prophets and apostles shall be cut off from among the people” (Doctrine and Covenants 1:3-c).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Ones,

We who have been warned have an obligation to warn our neighbors. During the early morning hours of July 10, 2015, I was awakened with these words being repeated to me again and again: “Go forth and testify and warn the people.” I tried to go back to sleep, but due to the constant repetition of these words, sleep was impossible. I felt that these words could be found in the Scriptures. I thought perhaps they could be found in the Doctrine and Covenants. As I searched in my Concordance of the Doctrine and Covenants, under the word “testify,” I was pleased to find nearly the same words in section 85, paragraph 22-a: “Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor; therefore they are left without excuse, and their sins are upon their own heads.”
Those who have been blessed with the knowledge of the consequences of unremitted sins and the way of salvation have an obligation to warn those who have not heard or been taught the principles of the gospel. They need to know, “. . . the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Cain asked, “Am I my brother’s keeper” (Genesis 5:19 IV; 4:9 KJV). Jesus said to Peter: “. . . when you are converted, strengthen your brethren (Luke 22:32). Paul understood his call to preach Christ, “whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man with all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ” (1 Colossians 1:28). Wisdom dictates however, that we should not use undue pressure to bring souls to the Lord.
Those who neglect to share the gospel with those who have “ears to hear” may be punished for their negligence. Paul said: “. . . necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16).
Ezekiel wrote: “Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying . . . he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword [of justice] come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the House of Israel; therefore, thou shalt hear the word at my mouth and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul” (Ezekiel 33:1, 5-9).
Jacob, son of Lehi, wrote of his responsibility, “. . . having firstly obtained mine errand from the Lord . . . taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins upon our own heads, if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence; wherefore, by laboring with our mights [that] their blood might not come upon our garments; otherwise, their blood would come upon our garments and we would not be found spotless at the last day” (Jacob 1:17-20).
The Lord is calling his servants of the priesthood and non-priesthood to go forth and testify and warn our families, neighbors and others that the day of judgment is near. All of us will be judged on the day of our death. “Who then is that faithful and wise servant? And the Lord said unto them, It is that servant who watcheth to impart his portion of meat in due season. Blessed be that servant whom his Lord shall find, when he cometh, so doing” (Luke 12:50-52 IV; Luke 12:42-43 KJV).

"In My Seat - A Pilot's Story from Sept 10th - 11th"

Dear Family and Friends,

The link below is to a 15+ min video of First Officer Steve Scheibner telling how he just missed being the pilot for Flight 11 on Sept. 11, 2001. Perhaps you have seen it before. If not, please consider watching his reflections of what happened in his life as a result of being bumped from piloting that particular flight. He concludes with a humble confession of faith in the one who took his place on the cross.

Workers needed for S. Crysler Clean Up Day October 26th

The Independence Is Alive and Well Initiative needs volunteers to help clean and shape up S. Crysler Avenue this Saturday, October 26th.

If this is something God has put on your heart to do, please join us. The day will start with a breakfast briefing at 7:30am at Central/Gospel Park Church at 919 S. Delaware and South Avenue. We will receive team assignments for sections of Crysler from 23rd Street to the Lexington Bridge. IIAW T shirts will be provided all workers at the breakfast. We will work till about 11:30.

The IIAW will also be providing traffic control for the Halloween Parade. This is a service the LDS church does every year, therefore clean up day work crew will have fewer workers because we will not have the LDS member support.

Dress warm and prepare for cool, possibly damp weather. Bring weed whackers, mowers, brush hogs, rakes, brooms and dust pans, long handled loppers, pruners, grabbers, gloves, camp stools for sitting and pulling weeds out of sidewalks. We will meet for breakfast, regardless of rain. We will split up into 5 person teams each taking a section of Crysler to work on.

If you have been asking the Lord for a Kingdom building project to do, pray about this effort. We would love to have your help. Please contact me, Muriel Luedeman at 816-726-8425 or mur620@gmail.com with any questions or special equipment and skills you have to offer. If you are unable to work, we always appreciate your prayers.

Francis Harper Message for 10/18/2019

His Righteous Judgment

“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). We will be judged. Jesus said: “For the day soon cometh, that men shall come before me to judgment, to be judged according to their works. And many will say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name; and cast out devils; and in thy name done many wonderful works? Then will I say, ye never knew me; depart from me ye that work iniquity. Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man who built his house on a rock, and the rains descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock, And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; and the rains descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it” (Matthew 7:31-33 IV; 7:21-27 KJV). We will not be judged by merely believing in the words of Jesus, but by doing them! We will be judged by our works. “. . . and they were judged every man according to their works” (Revelation 20:13). Will we be weighed in the balance and found wanting? See Daniel 5:27.
Paul wrote: “for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; but it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). This scripture has caused many to believe that we will be judged by our faith alone. This is a misinterpretation. James corrects this erroneous thinking. He wrote: “I will show thee my faith by my works . . . ye see then by works a man is justified, and not by faith only . . . For, as the body without the Spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead” (James 2:15, 23, 25). The Book of Mormon settles the argument of faith vs. works: “For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do” (2 Nephi 11:44). Good works follow a strong faith.
We should never take lightly the fact that all of us will be judged. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive a reward of the deeds done in the body” (2 Corinthians 5:10). Many may agree with the philosophy of Hillary Clinton who asked: “What difference does it make?” “And there shall be many who shall say, eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die: and it shall be well with us . . . nevertheless, fear God, he will justify in committing a little sin: yea, lie a little . . . and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we will be saved in the kingdom of God” (2 Nephi 12:9-11).
God’s judgment of us begins on the day we die. Jesus said to the penitent thief: “Verily I say unto thee; Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:44 IV; 23:43 KJV). Those who are not worthy to dwell in Paradise will be immediately consigned to a correctional facility which Peter called a prison. See 1 Peter 3:18-20.
“The worth of souls is great in the sight of God” (Doctrine and Covenants 16:3-c). For this reason Jesus went to preach to the “spirits in prison some of whom were disobedient in the days of Noah” (1 Peter 3:19-20). Evidently as long as there is even one spark of redeeming value in a soul, Jesus will continue to labor to save it. Remember the parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:1-7); and the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32).
The great and final judgment will take place after the Lord’s millennial reign. John wrote: “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; . . . and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works” (Revelation 20:12). “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Ones,

Jesus will judge us and his judgment is just and perfect. Jesus is the keeper of the gate to life eternal which is prepared for the happiness of the saints. “Behold the way for man is narrow, but it lieth in a straight course before him, and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel: and he employeth no servant there; And there is none other way, save it be by the gate, for he cannot be deceived; for the Lord God is his name. And whoso knocketh, to him, will he open; and the wise, and the learned, and they that are rich, who are puffed up because of their learning, and their wisdom, and their riches; yea, they are they whom he despiseth; And save they shall cast these things away, and consider themselves fools before God, and come down in the depths of humility, he will not open unto them . . . the happiness prepared for the saints” (2 Nephi 6:81-85).
Jesus is “the keeper of the gate and he employeth no servant there” because he is the only one who is able to determine those who are worthy to dwell in his kingdom.
During the early spring of 1994, our good friend, Lou Waite, came to see me about two dreams she wanted me to interpret. In the first dream she was near the cross at our reunion grounds. She noticed the gate to the grounds was closed with some people outside the gate and others on the inside. She could recognize faces in the crowd and wondered why the people were being separated?
She thought the gate should not be closed. Someone said to her, “you should know why the gate is closed.” When she turned toward this person, she awoke from her dream. She was facing the digital clock on her bedside table and the time was 3:33 AM.
About three weeks later she had the second dream. She was back at the reunion grounds. This time she was down among the people. Again there were many faces she recognized and many she did not recognize. But strangely, as she walked through the crowd, she could see them but most could not see her. She walked to the gate which was still closed with people on both sides.
Once again she thought, this gate should not be closed, it should be opened! Others near her were saying “No! The gate has been closed. Those people don’t belong here!” When she awoke, once again, the time was 3:33 AM. The significance of waking at that specific time could not be ignored. At this point Lou, a recent convert to the church, asked me to interpret her dreams.
After much meditation and prayer, I put my interpretation in writing. In summary, I wrote that the gate was symbolic of the gate leading into the Lord’s millennial kingdom. This gate will be closed at the time of the Lord’s Second Coming! His coming is near. He will close the gate. We should be thankful that we are being warned. We need to take these warnings very seriously.
After writing the interpretation, I gave it to my secretary, Nancy Baker, for typing. She wrote: “At about 4:30, Friday evening, June 2, 1994, Francis brought the letter [the interpretation] for me to type. He wanted to give it to Lou Sunday morning at Church. I told Francis I would come back Saturday morning and type it.
“ I thought to myself, why do I have to type this? Why doesn’t he just go talk to the lady and get it over with. This letter writing is childish. When I went to bed Friday evening these thoughts were still bugging me. I was sleeping soundly when all of a sudden my eyes came completely open. I was looking directly at our digital clock, and it was 3:33 AM! I thought immediately, type the letter!
“This was odd for me. It is normal for me to awaken early, but usually I am slow to completely awake. To look directly at our clock, I have to be on my right side. I never sleep on my right side! But this particular night I was.
“On Saturday morning, I went to work and willingly typed the letter. I know the lady was puzzled by being awakened at 3:33 AM. At the end of each of her dreams. I have never been awakened at 3:33, before or since. I had a rebellious spirit, and I believe the Lord was trying to correct that and was confirming the truth of the lady’s dreams and the interpretation.” – Nancy Baker.
Twenty-five years have passed and the gate to the Lord’s kingdom is still open. Many who expect to be within the gate when it is finally closed, may find themselves judged unworthy to dwell in the kingdom of God! How tragic this will be for these unfortunate persons. Our faithfulness in following Jesus “with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of our sins . . .” (2 Nephi 13:16), will determine his judgment of our worthiness to dwell within the gate of his millennial kingdom.
These spiritual dreams are a double witness of truth and are reminiscent of the parable of the virgins (Matthew 25:1-11). As Joseph said to Pharaoh: “and for the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass” (Genesis 41:32).

My Love to All,

High Priest Francis Harper

George Washington’s Vision

George Washington’s Vision

Poorwiseman note: It is my belief that the third part of Washington's vision is upon us now. I also agree with John Grady's commentary (prophecy) at the conclusion of the vision narrative. For the complete pamphlet by John Grady, with more on General Washington as well as biographical information on John Grady see this link at Family Guardian

For some interesting historical notes on Washington's vision as well as another version see this link at Prophecy Truths

Various accounts of George Washington's vision and prophecy all agree in content. There have been only minor variations in some details as the story was repeated over the years by those to whom it was related by General Washington.

The place was Valley Forge, in the cold and bitter winter of 1777. Washington's army had suffered several reverses and the situation was desperate. Food was scarce. The Continental Congress was not sending supplies or money. Some of the troops did not even have shoes to wear in the snow. Many soldiers were
sick and dying from disease and exposure. Morale was at an all-time low and there was great agitation in the Colonies against continued effort to secure our freedom from England. Nevertheless, General Washington was determined to see the struggle through.

These are the words of a first-hand observer, Anthony Sherman, who was there and describes the situation: "You doubtless heard the story of Washington's going to the thicket to pray. Well, it is not only true, but he used often to pray in secret for aid and comfort from God, the interposition of whose Divine Providence
brought us safely through the darkest days of tribulation."

"One day, I remember it well, when the chilly winds whistled through the leafless trees, though the sky was cloudless and the sun shone brightly, he remained in his quarters nearly all the afternoon alone. When he came out, I noticed that his face was a shade paler than usual. There seemed to be something on his mind of
more than ordinary importance. Returning just after dusk, he dispatched an orderly to the quarters of the officer I mention, who was presently in attendance. After a preliminary conversation of about a half hour, Washington, gazing upon his companion with that strange look of dignity which he alone commanded, related
the events that occurred that day.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Washington's Own Words

"This afternoon, as I was sitting at the table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed, that it was some moments before I found language to inquire the cause of her presence. A second, a third and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes."

"By this time I felt strange sensations spreading through me. I would have risen but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to address her, but my tongue had become useless, as though it had become paralyzed. "

"A new influence, mysterious, potent, irresistible, took possession of me. All I could do was to gaze steadily, vacantly, at my unknown visitor. Gradually the surrounding atmosphere seemed as if it had become filled with sensations and luminous. Everything about me seemed to rarefy, the mysterious visitor herself becoming more airy and yet more distinct to my sight than before. I now began to feel as one dying, or rather to experience the sensations which I have sometimes imagined accompany dissolution. I did not think, I did not reason, I did not move; all were alike, impossible. I was only conscious of gazing fixedly, vacantly at my
companion."

"Presently I heard a voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' while at the same time my visitor extended her arm eastward. I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a strange scene. Before me lay spread out in one vast plain all the
countries of the world - Europe, Asia, Africa and America. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic and between Asia and America the Pacific."

"Son of the Republic,' said the mysterious voice as before, 'look and learn." At that moment I beheld a dark shadowy being, like an angel, standing or rather floating in mid-air between Europe and America. Dipping water out of the ocean in the hollow of each hand, he sprinkled some upon America with his right hand, while
with his left hand he cast some on Europe. Immediately a cloud raised from these countries and joined in mid-ocean. For a while it remained stationary and then moved slowly westward, until it enveloped America in its murky folds. Sharp flashed of lightning gleamed through it at intervals, and I heard the smothered groans and cries of the American people."

"A second time the angel dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it out as before. The dark cloud was then drawn back to the ocean, in whose heaving bellows it sank from view. A third time I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' I cast my eyes upon America and beheld villages and towns and cities springing up one after another until the whole land from the Atlantic to the Pacific was dotted with them."

"Again, I heard the mysterious voice say, 'Son of the Republic, the end of the century cometh look and learn.' At this the dark shadowy angel turned his face southward and from Africa I saw an ill-omened spectre approach our land. It flitted slowly over every town and city of the latter. The inhabitants presently set
themselves in battle array against each other. As I continued looking I saw a bright angel, on whose brow rested a crown of light on which was traced 'Union,' bearing the American which he placed between the divided nation and said, 'Remember ye are brethren.' Instantly, the inhabitants, casting aside from them their weapons became friends once more and united around the National Standard."

"And again I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' At this the dark shadowy angel placed a trumpet to his mouth and blew three distinct blasts; and taking water from the ocean he sprinkled it upon Europe, Asia and Africa. Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene: from each of these
countries arose a thick black clouds that were soon joined into one. Throughout this mass there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men, who, moving with the cloud, marched by land and sailed by sea to America. Our country was enveloped in this volume of cloud and I saw these vast armies devastate the whole country and burn the villages, towns and cities that I beheld springing up. As my ears listened to the thundering of the of the cannon, clashing of swords and the shouts and cries of millions in mortal combat, I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' When the voice had ceased, the dark shadowy angel placed his trumpet once more to his mouth and blew a long and fearful blast."

"Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel upon whose head still shone the word Union, and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens
attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were nigh well overcome, but who immediately taking courage again, closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle."

"Again amid the fearful noise of the conflict, I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' As the voice ceased, the shadowy angel for the last time dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it upon America. Instantly the dark cloud rolled back, together with the armies it had brought, leaving the inhabitants of the land victorious."

"Then once more I beheld the villages, towns and cities springing up where I had seen them before, while the bright angel, planting the azure standard he had brought in the midst of them, cried with a loud voice: 'While the stars remain and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall the Union last.' And taking from his brow the crown on which blazoned the word 'Union,' he placed it upon the Standard while the people, kneeling down, said, 'Amen.'

"The scene instantly began to fade and dissolve, and I at last saw nothing but the rising, curling vapor I at first beheld. This also disappearing, I found myself once more gazing upon the mysterious visitor, who said in the same voice I had heard before, 'Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted: Three great
perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third, but in this greatest conflict the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land and the Union. With these words the vision vanished and I started from my seat and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown to me the birth, progress and destiny of the United States."

Thus ended General George Washington's vision and prophecy for the United States of America as told in his own words.

Commentary by John Grady M.D.

We are now moving rapidly into the third and greatest peril of Washington's revelation. The signs of its fulfillment are readily evident to all who are not blinded by apathy, overindulgence, or self-delusion.

Nations on every continent, under the political forces of Communism, are now hostile to the United States. America has few friends left in the world and even fewer still who will have the strength or will to stand beside her in any future struggles.

Lenin foretold this series of events: "First we will take Russia, next we will capture the nations of eastern Europe, then we will take the masses of Asia. Finally, we will surround the United States and that last bastion of freedom will fall into our hands like over-ripe fruit."

In Washington's vision, he saw America attacked and invaded by vast military forces from Europe, Asia and Africa. He saw that those foreign there 'gleamed a dark, red light' - the color and symbol of Communism. He saw our cities aflame as a result of nuclear attack, or burned by the invading enemy forces. He saw the whole nation devastated and millions dying in mortal combat.

Then at the point of fiercest and final battle, the great angel, the guardian of this nation, descended from the heavens with legions of white spirits who joined forces with the Americans and destroyed the invading armies.

There are several important points which should be recognized by every American who reads this essay:

(1) It is time for all Americans to heed the warning that patriots have been carrying across the land for several decades. The people of this nation are entering a period of great trial and tribulation. There will be an economic collapse, then a disintegration of domestic order, followed by anarchy and foreign invasion.
There will be armed conflict with terrible death and destruction.

(2) America is the promised land and the Christian people of North America are God's chosen people. We will prevail because it is our destiny to prevail. But we have permitted corruption, perversion, immortality, greed, personal pleasure and materialism to become our way of life. We have permitted alien, anti-Christians
to gain control of our country. We have allowed traitors to hold the highest positions of authority within our nation. We have reached such a point of degradation that we are even killing our own unborn children - bringing about our own genocide. Therefore, because of immorality, loss of faith, and the abandonment of our God-centered heritage, America and her people will receive a chastisement of immeasurable ferocity.

(3) The events which you are reading about are neither fiction, a patriotic story, nor a series of simple historical happenings. The authenticity of Washington's revelation is clearly supported by a number of other prophecies over the past several hundred years; all pointing to a great 'end times' battle in which the forces
of almost the entire world are directed against the United States.

This is a cataclysmic demonstration of the power of God and the fact that His will shall not be frustrated and His plans shall not be denied. We Americans have accepted and enjoyed our many blessings and great bounty without gratitude; and we have failed to understand fulfill our special role as a nation. Consequently,
we will soon feel that wrath which is our just punishment.

(4) However, even at this late hour, responsible Americans can still rise up, remove the traitors and parasites from government, build a strong national defense, return our economy and monetary system to a firm base, wipe out the immortality and perversion which corrupts our people, set new standards of integrity
and honor for the national character and reverse the present suicidal course of the nation.

If we do these things, we can still avoid much of the world-wide tragedy and suffering ahead; for there are many references in the Scriptures that the punishment of the Lord may be withheld - if we believe, repent, work and fight if necessary, while we call upon Him for assistance.

But if we, as a nation, do not urgently and with every means at our disposal set ourselves to the task, then only those strong, righteous and courageous individuals who prepare now - mentally, morally and physically, will survive. We must act now. We are in the twelfth hour. There is no more time to waste. Good Americans must make a decision and a commitment now!

Nevertheless, even if many others 'heed not the watchman,' do not be afraid. Those who do hear and prepare will survive 'the sword.' Courageous and God-fearing Americans who are prepared to survive, yet willing to fight and die - for our Lord, our families, our liberty, our country and civilization - those Americans will prevail and live to build a new republic which shall endure. Good will triumph over evil, as the Lord will intervene on behalf of His Remnant to make it so.

(5) George Washington, one of the greatest men to walk this continent, should serve as an example in these troubled times. Washington's selfless devotion to his Country, his dedication to the cause of Liberty and his personal standards of morality and character - all made him universally loved and respected. He should be the hero and model for every American.

General Washington was a man of principle, wisdom, determination and great courage. He was a God-fearing man who prayed for direction, strength and support of the Almighty. He accepted the purpose and destiny for which he was created.

Washington also had the courage to take up arms and physically fight for His God and his Country. He did not expect other men or the Creator to do it for him, nor did he foolishly think that somehow God would pluck him from the scene so that he might avoid the hardships, suffering and perhaps even death which were
imminent. Good men, including dedicated Christians, have never escaped tribulation; but those, like Washington, who are prepared, will be given the strength and protection to see it through.

(6) Finally, you the reader should be aware that at this very hour, the ground work is being laid to bring the conservative, Christian and patriotic people of this nation together so that they might be coordinated in a movement which will regain control of our own government and defend this nation from all enemies foreign and domestic.

Even now, the leaders of this movement are being gathered, tried, tested and tempered for the work ahead. When righteous forces, assembled together, will bring ultimate victory to our people - so that as the Angel proclaimed, "While the stars remain and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall America
last."

Sons and Daughters of the Republic, you are living in the most crucial and momentous period in the history of mankind. It will be a time of great trial. The events foretold are coming. There is no escape. The only question is whether or not you will have the judgment, courage and sense of destiny to stand with those of us who already stand: for with the help of Almighty God we shall be victorious!

Update on the "unpardonable sin" of bitterness

Update on the "unpardonable sin" of bitterness

Dear Family and Friends,
In reply to my October 9, 2019 email on bitterness, someone challenged my referring to bitterness as an unpardonable sin (see original Oct. 9 email below).

My reply (edited here) went something like the following: It would seem logical that the greatest punishment would be affixed to breaking the greatest commandment(s). It does not seem reasonable that the greatest punishment would be affixed to any lesser crime than the greatest crime which comes of breaking the greatest commandment(s). Can we not then conclude that if there is an unpardonable sin it must be associated with not loving God with our whole beings or loving each other as ourselves – i.e. the two great commandments (Matthew 22:35-39)? Hence Matthew 6:16.

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, who trespass against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your heavenly Father forgive you your trespasses.”

Over the last six months or so the Lord has been leading me into a more complete understanding of the unpardonable sin and why those who choose bitterness over God’s love separate themselves from His Holy Spirit (e.g. Jude 1:17-19). In particular, those who choose to abide in bitterness rather than God’s love once He has revealed His love to them by the Holy Ghost, fail His grace (Hebrews 12:15). For God is love, not bitterness. Thus those who allow the root of bitterness to take hold in their hearts, defile themselves because they live contrary to God’s very nature and His two great commands. Yes, there are other ways people speak blasphemy against the Holy Ghost once they’ve known God’s light and love. But bitterness and its fruit of thorns and thistles (Hebrews 6:8) springing forth from a root of bitterness (as described in Hebrews 12:15) causes many to depart from the Spirit of the living God. To put it plainly, Jesus stated that our Heavenly Father will not forgive us if we do not forgive each other (Matthew 6:16). Clearly an unwillingness to forgive is portrayed in the scripture as unpardonable by God.

Hope this helps,
Dwight Burford

October 9 email

The October 8, 2019, message in a series of sermons by Pastor Jeff Schreve linked below is an insightful and helpful lesson on this insidious beast, bitterness, and how to be freed from it:

https://www.fromhisheart.org/series/life-goes-on-how-to-face-a-new-normal/Radio

Please take time to listen to the message. It helps explain why bitterness defiles many and keeps them from seeing the Lord in their lives.[1]

Ultimately, bitterness is an “unpardonable” sin before God – should one die in the hardness and deceitfulness of bitterness toward the Lord and His body, the church.[2]

Why? God is love,[3] and He created us in His image and likeness.[4] To be bitter toward God or others, then, is to live in opposition to God’s very nature, to live contrary to His very image and likeness of light and love.
Bitterness goes against the very teachings of Jesus Christ, which are ultimately to love one another.[5] Thus, to harbor bitterness within ourselves against another is to contradict His teachings and strive against His ministry and that of the Holy Spirit by whom He baptizes His church to fill each member with His love.[6]

Remember, the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (i.e. by the Comforter, who is His Spirit of truth).[7] Therefore, to speak bitterly of another is to speak against or contrary to the Spirit of God, who speaks otherwise of each member.

In a word, bitterness is blasphemy against the Spirit of God and His temple, the church.[8] For the Spirit of God moves in us to pray for one another, and to minister to each other’s needs, [9] not to think or to speak evil of one another.[10]
But is not this vile world filled with innumerable reasons to be bitter? How then can we then be freed from bitterness? Remember the cross of Jesus Christ and forgive for His sake.[11] Forgive – the person or circumstance which has caused you to be bitter – in the person of Jesus Christ, “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us.”[12]

In other words, walk after the Spirit, not after this world.[13] Live as new creatures in Christ, having been created anew in God’s image of light and love through Jesus Christ.[14] Live according to His commandments while focusing on the two great commandment

Love,
Dwight Burford
