BASIC TIPS FOR PARTICIPATING IN A ZOOM SERVICE

§ Always keep yourself muted until you are called on by the one presiding
§ When sharing, face the camera directly and at an angle where your face is approximately at the same angle as the camera on your device
§ Minimize distractive movement and be aware of what can be seen in the background
§ If you see your picture moving in and out the main frame frequently, please consider if there is something you are doing to make it happen and adjust accordingly
§ These are worship services, please come prepared and appropriately dressed

WARNING
Dear Saints – We need to make you aware that there is a new phenomenon occurring with zoom meetings called“Zoom-bombing.” This is where someone joins a zoom meeting with the sole intent of disrupting the meeting. It can take the form of the person being very loud and/or sharing undesirable images. We are working on finding ways to minimize the possibility of this happening but cannot guarantee that it won’t. If it happens, we will immediately end the service and resume it within 5 to 10 minutes. If it happens again we will not resume the service. Please pray that our worship together might not be Zoom-bombed.

Beautiful Suburban that has been awesome to own. Great gas mileage (21 Hwy, 19 combined), reliable, and NO rust! It has the 5.3L and is a 4x4. The interior is perfect, and has weather tech throughout. Awesome Bose stereo system with rear passenger controls. The A/C is ridiculously cold! It has your typical rock chips on the front bumper and a couple door dings, but the paint really pops. 20" Chrome wheel with about 15000 miles on the tires, so plenty life left. Selling because I want a 5th wheel trailer or I'd keep it. $15,700 OBO.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

What a marvelous experience we had Sunday morning, March 29, as over 300 saints from across the US and around the World, came together for a virtual prayer service. The prayers offered were uplifting and Spirit filled. Many who participated expressed they were encouraged by the prayers, and being able to worship with brothers and sisters from different parts of the world. We were truly blessed with the presence of the good Spirit as we worshiped together. Many who participated, and some who were unable to participate, requested that a recording of the service be shared.

If you would like to view the service, click on the following link:

A MARVELOUS WORK AND A WONDER

Dear Saints,

This morning. March 29, 2020 the Conference of Restoration Elders live streamed a prayer service that was world wide in nature.

The prayers offered were outstanding and offered by young and old, coast to coast and from other countries.

There were seven countries represented that we know of with many participants both in watching and praying.

What a tremendous opportunity, with modern technology, to reach out to the Saints round the globe.Technology also allows many branches to live stream services and some by conference calls.

As a song said, "It's a Small World, After All." What a greater understanding we now have also for the hymn, "The Whole Wide World for Jesus."

Among other things, we were encouraged to let our light shine as best we can wherever we are no matter what darkness there may be.May we all continue to remember the Saints, our neighbors, friends, and relatives and reach out however we can to support one another during this time of trial for the world.

God be with you.
In Christ,
Paul Gage

CMRB Announcement - Cancellation of April activities

From: Eric English
ericcenglish@gmail.com

CMRB Announcement - Cancellation of April activities

Saints –

The Central Missouri Restoration Branches pastors met recently and have made the difficult decision to cancel or postpone our planned joint activities for April.

Those events being cancelled include:

Our last Spring retreat for the Junior age (previously announced)
Our work day at Odessa Hills that had been planned for 4/4
Please contact Jim Mulheron directly if you have any individual availability to help with campground work projects
Our all branch worship that had been planned for 4/5

We will be postponing our Priesthood education retreat that had been planned for the morning of 4/25, to be rescheduled at a later date.

We are still tentatively planning to have our all branch business meeting on 5/3 for our annual committee elections.

In these unprecedented times, where fear and trepidation is quite rampant in the world, we acknowledge that we should do what we can to help prevent this virus from spreading but more so we acknowledge that the future for every man, woman, and child ultimately rests in the loving arms of our Savior. Several of our member branches are taking the time every day at 10am to pray for the Lord’s guidance and protection. We invite you to join with us.

Let us remember the message that the angel in Revelations 14 brought to the earth – that we should fear God and give glory and worship to Him.

May God bless until we meet together again.

Your brother in Christ,
Elder Eric English
CMRB President

All Saints Prayer Service Invitation

Dear Brothers and Sisters -This message is a follow-up to the one sent out below by Brian Mundy earlier this week announcing that an online/virtual all saints prayer service has been scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 10 AM Central Standard Time. We are very excited about the opportunity to come together to petition our Lord and worship together in this way.

To participate in the meeting, please click on the link below“Join Zoom Meeting.” You may join the service using a computer, tablet or cell phone. You may choose to join with video and audio, or audio only on your cell phone. If joining by computer or tablet, you can use the video and audio through those devices. If you want, you can also access the video by computer and the audio using your cell phone. Sometimes the audio on your cell phone is clearer and more stable than through your computer. It generally depends on the quality of your internet connection. As mentioned above, the Service will begin at 10 am CST. Please do not start joining the meeting until 9:45 am.

Since this is the first time doing this with a large number of participants, our intent for now is to ask a number of saints before the meeting to offer the prayers during the service. If we determine to do something more interactive, we will inform you at the beginning of the service. Participants will be muted during the service in order to minimize background noise and in order to maintain control of who and when others can share. As is the case in any service, the one presiding will be responsible for making those determinations.

When doing things electronically, there is always the potential for technical challenges. Please pray that all will go well.
Vim Horn is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Video Conference Prayer Service

Seeing the great need facing the church today with our inability to gather together for worship the Conference of Elders has decided to increase our capacity on zoom to 1000 participants and host a world wide prayer service this Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. central time. We are working out the details and will be sending instructions soon. We are hopeful that the Spirit will prevail in a marvelous way as we all come together.

Saints from all over the United States as well as several countries are already beginning their preparation for our gathering.

When we send out the instructions, if you have any questions about how you can participate or get on, I will include mine and Vim Horn's phone number,

Please make this a matter of prayer and also pray for me as I preside over this service

Francis Harper Message for 3/27/2020

“Look Up; Lift Up Your Heads”

And then his disciples asked him, saying, “Master, tell us concerning thy coming? And he answered them . . . there shall be upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity . . . Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth . . . And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for the day of your redemption draweth nigh. And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud, with power and great glory” (Luke 21:24-28).

This scripture seems to be saying the present Corona virus is good news for those who know Jesus, because it is a sign that Jesus is coming soon.

For those who do not know Jesus this is bad news unless they quickly recognize “the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation [or damnation] nearer than when we believed [or disbelieved]. The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantoness, not in strife and envying. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to gratify the lusts thereof”

(Romans 13: 11-14).

We, the followers of Jesus, need to be warning our friends and loved ones of the good news, bad news, scenarios immediately ahead of us. We are quite likely witnessing the fulfillment of the prophetic words of Jesus on our television screens, as we witness in living color the distress of nations with perplexity and men’s hearts failing them for fear, resulting from the Corona virus.

Those who know Jesus can lift up their heads and rejoice, when they see the fulfillment of his words, because they know their deliverance is nigh. But those who know not Jesus will be filled with fear at the sight of the things we are witnessing today, which will likely continue to come as birth pangs suddenly come upon a woman with increasing frequency and intensity.

“. . . for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty . . . And they shall be afraid; pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth; they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. Behold the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light (due to smoke or ash?); the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity . . . I will be merciful unto my people, but the wicked shall perish” (Isaiah 13:6-11, 22).

“For as it was in the days of Noah; so shall it also be in the days of the Son of Man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. In that day, the disciple who shall be on the house top, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away; and he who is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife” (Luke 17:26-32).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Dear Ones,

Upon several occasions the Lord has given me evidences that his end-time prophesies are being, or soon will be, fulfilled. I selected the prophecy given by Jesus which is recorded in Luke 21:24-28 to quote at the beginning of this week’s message: “. . . his disciples asked him, saying Master, tell us concerning the time of thy coming? And he answered . . . there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity . . . men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth. . . . And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for the day of your redemption draweth nigh.” Shortly after I had selected this scripture, a neighbor excitedly came to share the same passage of scripture with me! He was a second witness that this prophecy is being fulfilled today.

I had an unusual dream in the early morning hours of Sunday October 17, 2013. In my dream I was working on the farm with others, to accomplish a very necessary task, when it became dark, even though it was only midday. I believe this was a warning that the great day of the Lord is near. “And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in a clear day” (Amos 8:9). “. . . the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine” (Isaiah 13:10). “The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble; the sun and moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining” (Joel 2:10, 31, 3:15).

The conditions described in the scriptures quoted above happened in the Western Hemisphere just before the appearance of Jesus in Meso-America: “And there was also a great and terrible tempest . . . insomuch that it did shake the whole earth . . . and it came to pass there was thick darkness . . . and there could be no light seen . . . great were the groanings of the people saying, O that we had repented before this great and terrible day” (3 Nephi 4:7-23). Similar conditions are likely to happen again before the Lord’s Second Coming.

On March 22, 2014, Brian Herren, Travis Clark and myself left on the 13th mission to Nepal and Northeast India. We departed in the late afternoon for an overnight flight to Paris arriving there after sunrise on March 23. Near noon we left Paris on a direct flight to New Delhi, India, arriving there near midnight of the same day. As we left Paris, the clouds were broken, and having a window seat, I caught glimpses of the Seine River and the City of Lights. Climbing higher, as we crossed Europe, the clouds thickened and the earth was quickly obscured from view. Being unable to see anything of interest below, I closed my eyes for a much needed rest.

A few hours later, I was suddenly awakened. The sky had cleared, and framed by the window at which I was seated, was a beautiful snow-capped mountain. It was Mount Ararat! It is easily identified by Little Ararat which stands nearby. I had first witnessed these mountains in the summer of 1991, when I traveled to Eastern Turkey to study the landing site of Noah’s Ark.

It was obvious the Lord had arranged this precious experience for me. There are three reasons for believing this: 1) the Lord had provided a window seat for me, which I had not requested, 2) the Lord had placed me on the side of the aircraft facing Ararat and 3) He had awakened me in precise timing to enjoy the sight of one of the most famous mountains in the world! I was anxious to share this experience with my fellow travelers. I rushed to their section of the aircraft to summon them to come and see. Both men were sleeping. I quickly aroused Brian, and he became a second witness of this sacred scene.

As I pondered upon this experience and its significance. I recalled that the Ark of Noah was designed as a type and shadow of the days in which we are living. We who live today are being warned that God “will not always strive with man” (2 Nephi 11:76), and we are being called to repent and change our ways lest we perish, as did the people in the days of Noah. Our Father in Heaven has prepared a way of deliverance for us as he did for Noah and his family. Jesus is our Ark. We have been reminded again: “As it was in the days of Noah; so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man” (Luke 17:26). His coming is near.

My Love to All,

High Priest Francis Harper

A Word of Encouragement

Thursday, March 26, 2020 Greetings to all the Saints around the world,

As the song says: It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears, It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears, There’s so much that we share that it’s time we’re aware It’s a small world after all. Isn’t it too bad that it takes a virus spreading all over the world for us to realize what a need there is for Zion. Though we have been warned and forewarned by God and even our government authorities to be prepared, many may not have enough of what they need for more than a week or so. Of course, spiritual preparation is the most vital. But it is not too late! We have time, while we are breathing, to examine our relationship with God.

Many Saints in organized areas take the availability of church for granted. It may not be a big deal to some that there are no church services. Will the virus have a revival effect? Only God knows. However, we should not be fearful, but trusting in God as our small world goes through this trial. This crisis can present opportunities to witness to others of our faith. Read I Peter 3:15. Any crisis is a good time to teach our children what the real values in life are so they can also share.

At Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch, we have been having a class entitled: Fasting and Prayer for the Kingdom of God. Many times, a crisis, like the world is in right now causes or forces those who claim to follow God to engage in these disciplines more than ever, but actually, they should be a part of our daily spiritual life. When Jesus healed the boy with demons in Matthew 17:21 he said, “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Isaiah 58 which talks about a false fast and God’s fast has been the theme scripture. Research and find out how many fasts are mentioned in the scriptures and their purposes.

Some in the class have agreed to fast three meals each week for the rest of our lives. Two times, Wednesday evening and Sunday morning are two times we agreed on to be unified. The third time is the faster’s choice. The method of fasting is also up to the individual and or family.
Most of you know the peace and comfort we can find in many of the Psalms such as 1, 15, 23, 26, 27 and many more. Also, as we near Resurrection Sunday, I Corinthians 15:57-58 is one of my favorite scriptures. Don’t forget they hymns, “O God our help in ages past...” A verse we don’t sing says, “Under the shadow of Thy throne, Thy Saints have dwelt secure. Sufficient is Thine arm alone, And our defense is sure.”

It has already been publicized that the Conference of Restoration Elders will be having a conference prayer service Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 10 am Central Standard Time. Join in if you can. I heartily commend the CRE leadership for this action. Several branches are also live streaming services, having conference prayer meeting calls, etc. It is good for each of us to stay in touch with the Saints, our loved ones, neighbors, etc. We have so many ways to contact others, so try not to let a day go by without reaching out to someone.

A final scripture is Philippians 4:4-8 and 13. During this trying time, find and accept the peace which Jesus says can be ours in John 14.

God bless.
Forward as desired.

OHF Spring Sessions Postponed Due to COVID-19

OHF Spring Sessions Postponed Due to COVID-19

Unfortunately, due to the issues at hand, we are forced to delay the start of our Spring Program. We tried our best to wait until the last minute to make a decision, however, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone to delay the start of spring sessions in order to provide timely scheduling information. We are tentatively planning a start date for spring sessions the week of May 4th.

If we are able to begin the week of May 4th, we will not have to shorten the spring session of 9 weeks, but we will be unable to provide any makeup sessions as this will push us dangerously close to the start of fall sessions.

We take the health and safety of our participants and our staff seriously and would never do anything to jeopardize either. We will provide more information as May 4th approaches. If you have any questions please reach out to us via email at ohfkids@gmail.com. Thank you for understanding.

I have offered many prayers in the past week for the health and safety of my own family and all of those I love.  As well, rest assured I have held each of our staff and participating families in my prayers.  When people come to OHF as participants, volunteers, mentors, assistants or stall muckers, they become part of the OHF family. When you become part of my family, you become part of my circle that I pray for and have concern for. And so, I pray that each of you are safe and well. I pray that if this virus besieges your family, that you will reach out to me for extra prayers. I care, and I want to help in anyway that I can. If your family falls under financial hardship during this time, please do not pull your child's application from sessions. Talk to me, and we will find a solution for session payments. Your children and their needs are very important to us. I am trusting God to help us all get through this difficult time and I hope that you will trust Him as well.

Again, we wish you health and safety in the coming weeks.

Blessings from Bob & Cathy at Owl Hollow Farm

Video Conference Prayer Service

Seeing the great need facing the church today with our inability to gather together for worship the conference of elders has decided to increase our capacity on zoom to 1000 participants and host a world wide prayer service this Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. central time. We are working out the details and will be sending instructions soon. We are hopeful that the Spirit will prevail in a marvelous way as we all come together.

Saints from all over the United States as well as several countries are already beginning their preparation for our gathering.

When we send out the instructions, if you have any questions about how you can participate or get on, I will include mine and Vim Horn's phone number, .

Please make this a matter of prayer and also pray for me as I preside over this service

Lord's Assurance

Lord's Assurance

Dear Saints,

Are you ready for the Lord's return? We, all over the world, may be in a time of testing and trial. It is fairly easy to have sympathy for someone when we are not directly involved. With the current crisis in the world, it is now a very personal thing. Most, if not all, are under some kind of "lock down," "stay at home," to help control the virus. The picture included gives us a direct response from Joshua 1:9

We have an abundance of scriptures that will be of great comfort and strength to us during this time, which may go on for months. Another blessing is the hymns and songs of faith and trust."Trust and Obey," What a  friend We Have in Jesus," "Redeemer of Israel, our only delight," "We have an Anchor that keeps the Soul," "Look for the Beautiful, look for the True," and so many others.

One hymn, by David H. Smith is "Let Us Pray for One Another," will be most appropriate and applicable to all of during these times. I am not aware, at this time, of any Saints that have contracted the virus. Let us pray that there will not be any.
Keep the Faith, stay strong, help your children strengthen their foundation in the Lord. Let someone, somewhere know if you need any kind of assistance.

A slogan now going around here in the Center Place is, "We are all in this together." And I would add, "With the Lord as our Shepherd.

God bless
Love in Christ,

Seven Antidotes for Fear

Seven Antidotes for Fear

Seven Antidotes for Fear
by Evan A. Fry

Excerpt from The Saints’ Herald, April 17, 1943

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:35).

A very large portion of the teachings of Jesus was directed toward eliminating fear in His disciples.

Jesus was not simply preaching academic theories as He cautioned and counseled His followers against fear. They knew what fear was, what oppression was, and what terrorism and ruthlessness were. It was only 60 years before Christ that the Romans had conquered Jerusalem with all the ruthlessness of which the Roman conquerors were capable. Only 48 years before Christ, 30,000 Jews had been sold into slavery by those same Romans.

If we think that we live in terrible and fearful days—as we do—we need to remember that Jesus was no stranger to terrorism, cruelty, rapacious conquest, and bloody reprisal.

It was against this background that Jesus preached to His followers: “Fear not them that kill the body. Take no anxious thought for the morrow. Ye are of more value than many sparrows. Consider the ravens, and consider the lilies of the field. Will God not much more provide for you, if ye are not of little faith?”

As we study the teachings of Jesus, we find Him giving seven antidotes for fear. And if they were effective amidst the fearful terrorism of Jesus’ day, they will also work today.

1. One of the basic teachings of Jesus was “Have faith in God.” That is the first antidote for fear—the knowledge that there is an overruling Omnipotence, Who is greater than any human power for ill and Who is personally and vitally interested in each one of His creations. Care and concern is manifested toward each of His creatures who will have faith in His power to provide, to protect, to save, and to heal.

It is not that we shall always escape pain or disaster. The lily is cut down with the grass of the field and destroyed. Man must die, too. It matters not so much how he dies, so long as he dies without fear, with faith that God is still looking after him and going before him.

2. The second antidote for fear is obedience. Many people refuse to have faith in God because they know that if they do, they will necessarily have to obey Him better than they are now doing—and they don’t want to obey. They want their own way. But among such people, it is common to find a haunting, possessing fear—a tendency to worry about the future.

Unless we obey God, we are constantly in fear; but obedience to Him releases us from the bondage of fear.

3. The third antidote for fear is repentance. A sense of guilt is one of the greatest fear

producers in the world. Conscience makes cowards of us all. The man who is being hunted by the police sees a menace in every blue coat. The embezzler dreads the visit of the bank examiner and jumps with fear every time his superior speaks to him. The only remedy for this kind of fear is repentance—a cleansing of the conscience and an open confession of all past sins so that there will be nothing more to hide in fear.

If you would be free from fear, get rid of sin; get rid of that guilty conscience which makes cowards of us all.

4. The fourth antidote for fear is preparedness. Many men fear because they know they are inadequate to cope with the situation. They have no skill, no training; they are not prepared; so they cannot act; they can only fear. It is significant that Jesus did not simply choose a few men and send them out with an injunction to go and get busy and learn by doing. He kept those men with Him for three years.

5. The fifth antidote for fear is knowledge. We always fear the unknown. In Columbus’ day, men feared the western sea because no one knew what was there. There may be many reasons why children fear the dark, but back of them all is the fact that they can’t see and know what is there if they are surrounded by darkness.

The disciples feared Jesus when they saw Him come walking to them on the water because they didn’t know Him and didn’t understand. But their fear ceased when He spoke to them. The armies of Israel trembled when Goliath bellowed his challenge from the Philistine lines. But David knew where the giant’s weak spot was, and he was not afraid.

6. The sixth antidote for fear is action. It is idle to fear, and fear makes people idle. Psychologists tell us that when we feel fear coming on, the thing to do is to do something. Part of our activity may take the form of obedience, repentance, preparation, and acquiring knowledge and information about the thing or person we fear.

James has a significant verse about fear and action in his chapter on faith and works. He wrote, “Thou believest there is one God; thou doest well; the devils also believe and tremble” (James 2:19). Those who are content merely to sit still and assure themselves that there is no danger will fear in spite of themselves. But those who act will forget their fear and deliver themselves.

7. Our seventh and last antidote for fear is love. Many times Jesus commanded His disciples to love one another and to love all men as brothers.

Many of us are also fearful because we are too self-centered; we are interested in saving ourselves and unconcerned about anyone else. That kind of fear—fear for self—has torment; but perfect love casteth out fear.

We repeat: Jesus was no stranger to fear, to terrorism, to sadistic brutality, to oppression, to conquest. But He gave His disciples these seven antidotes for fear. By example as well as by precept, He taught them how to live above fear. Almost His parting words to them were an assurance against fear: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27).

In these days when men’s hearts are failing them for fear, may we find the peace of God, that we may live above fear in the peace that passeth understanding.

CRE Statement of Encouragement to the Saints

CRE Statement of Encouragement to the Saints

Dear Brothers and Sisters,As part of the leadership of the Conference of Restoration Elders, recognizing and not representing ourselves as the voice, but only as a voice within the restoration branch movement, we offer the following words of encouragement and guidance.

In this time of unusual circumstances, more than ever, we need to continue to place our trust and hope in God. None of what is occurring in the world is a surprise to him. Now is not the time to succumb to fear and despair. As we and our families consider ways to worship our Lord, and respond to the coronavirus in our homes and communities, let’s remember that God is in charge of all things.

Some are wondering what to do in our current situation. The following are simple reminders of what our response should be:·

Stay close to the Lord – Pray and fast for one another.

Philippians 4:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, Rejoice.Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be afflicted for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”·

Do not succumb to fear, or panic – trust God.

I John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love”.

DC 38:4c “Therefore, be ye strong from henceforth; fear not for the kingdom is yours: and for your salvation I give unto you a commandment, for I have heard your prayers”.·

Find safe ways to reach out and stay in touch with each other – particularly those who live alone.·
Offer support, in sensible ways, to those who are in need.

On a personal note, the love of God is all around us.  He has created you out of His love for you, He sustains you with every breath you take, and He sent His Only Begotten Son to create a path for you to return to Him.  What more do we need to know?  The God of the universe has declared you are the most important thing to Him.  You are His work and His glory.  Be assured He hears your prayers.  He has blessed you in times past, He will bless you through this current situation and He has in store blessings for what is to come.  Once again, He calls to you – His disciple –“follow me”.  Together let us walk the walk of faith.

May God be with each of you and your families in these portentous times.

Chairman of the Conference

Livestream Resources

In this extraordinary situation, where we are having to consider alternative options for ministry, many churches are now broadcasting (live or recorded) audio and video services. I have put together this resource for those who are looking for places to participate in online Restoration ministry in the coming weeks.

http://waldoavenuerestorationbranch.org/livestream.html

Give thought to those members who don’t have the technology to watch livestream or online services at their home. Perhaps you could invite them over to watch the service with you.

Continue to remember one another in prayer. This is a wakeup call and a “fire drill” to renew our spiritual preparation for the coming of the Lord. Pray for those who are feeling fearful or depressed or isolated during this time. Give them a call to check on them and give them encouragement.

Seven Suggestions for Spiritual Survival

From: Paul Ludy
paulvludy@gmail.com

Seven Suggestions for Spiritual Survival

1. Take courage from the Scriptures. Read Daniel chapters 1-6 to review the steadfastness of some people who were in captivity. Develop a reading program for yourself and your family.

2. Pray diligently. Start each day with prayer, perhaps as part of a morning devotion. Offer yourself in service to the Lord. Pray that His will be done. End each day with thanksgiving.

3. Worship the Lord with other Saints. When you cannot meet together in person, utilize available livestreaming, videos, and recordings. Here are some options:

• Colbern Road Restoration Branch—go to:
http://colbernrd.org
and click on Ministries and Previous Sermons

• Oak Grove Restoration Branch—go to:
http://ogrb.org
and click on Videos and Audio

• Oakwood Restoration Branch—go to:
http://oakwoodrestorationbranch.org
and click on Video Library

• South Crysler Restoration Branch—go to:
http://southcrysler.org
and scroll down to Sermons

• Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch—go to:
http://waldoavenuerestorationbranch.org
and click on Waldo Avenue/Pastors of Zion Livestream

An additional online resource is:
http://centerplace.org
Click on Library for lots of materials.

4. Keep the Sabbath holy. Some pleasures are not presently available. Avoid other pleasures and work, if possible. Concentrate on the “do’s”—worship, rest, and do good. It’s a great time for study. Share sermon thoughts with others; making some notes would help.

5. Fast from food and other pleasures—perhaps a meal a day, two meals a week, from snacks, or from overeating, etc. Sacrifice helps us turn from our own wants and yield to God’s will.

6. Establish or enhance your family altar. Select a time and a place to meet God daily. Involve all family members, if possible. You might include prayer, hymns, or reading from good books.

7. Be anxiously engaged in a good cause. Be productive and of service to God and your fellow beings. Here are some possibilities:

• Write letters or phone friends to testify of God’s goodness.

• Write your testimonies, or help family members write theirs. You might start with a list of your blessings. Then develop paragraphs about them. Then describe how they influenced your life, etc.

• Develop a class or a sermon or a poem. You may have extra time on your hands. Use it!

• Be of good courage. Have a cheerful countenance. Strengthen your brethren. Never be discouraged; trust the Father’s word.

Ministry Available from South Crysler Restoration Branch

Dear South Crysler Restoration Branch Members and all fellow Saints,

Certainly we live in the times of fulfillment of Latter Day Prophecy and the culmination of God’s eternal plan.  As we find ourselves today in a situation where it is more prudent to worship from home for a short time, we wanted to make opportunities available to enhance your worship experience.  If you will go to the SCRB website at:

http://www.southcrysler.org/

and click on the “Video Sermon” link, you will be able to watch a sermon given by one of God’s servants in these last days. We have video sermons to watch every Sunday and Wednesday while we have our building closed through April 3rd. Our hope is that on Sundays at 11:00 am and Wednesdays at7:00 pm we can still gather together in spirit and worship a wonderful God. If you cannot view a video on a computer or other electronic device, we would be happy to deliver a DVD or CD to you. Our SCRB website also has many other audio sermons, our belief videos, and other ministry available for you.

If you have any questions or need a DVD please call or email Verne Leutzinger. litezingerv@yahoo.com

We would also like to give a special thanks to Tim Lair and Nathan Smith for updating our website and making these worship opportunities possible.  The Lord’s timing and hand were watching over us all the way.

May God Bless Us All,
SCRB Pastorate

Francis Harper Message for 3/20/2020

Who Is A Good Parent?

Nephi stated at the beginning of his record: “I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents . . .” (1 Nephi 1:1). Nephi describes his father as a prayerful man: “Lehi, as he went forth, prayed unto the Lord, yea, even with all his heart, in behalf of his people . . .” (1 Nephi 1:4). He added that Lehi “was filled with the Spirit of the Lord” and “his soul did rejoice, and his whole heart was filled” (1 Nephi 1:11, 14).

Nephi called his parents good. In spite of this, two of their sons, Laman and Lemuel, “did rebel” against the good things they had been taught. “And now I, Nephi, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, therefore I spake unto them, saying, even unto Laman and unto Lemuel, Behold, ye are mine elder brethren; and how is it that ye are so hard in your hearts, and so blind in your minds . . .” (1 Nephi 2:14).

We cannot judge parents as being good or evil by measuring the integrity of their children, even as we cannot judge the goodness of God by his offspring! Even good parents occasionally fail to raise godly children due to influences beyond their control. I believe it can be truthfully stated that raising Christ-like children, during these perilous last days, as they are described in 2 Timothy 3:1-7, is a greater challenge than ever before.

In the beginning, God said: “. . . thou mayest choose for thyself” (Genesis 2:21). The temptations of Satan are more numerous and tempting than ever before. Recognition of the opposition facing good parents today is the first step toward good parenting.

A good parent will study and heed the scriptural instruction related to the subject of rearing children. Attending church on the first day of the week should not be a debatable issue in the homes of good parents. “And upon the first day of the week when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow” (Acts 20:7).

Moses taught parental duties: “. . . thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up . . . Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him” (Deuteronomy 6:4-13).

Solomon who was given unsurpassed wisdom by the Lord, gave this piece of advice to parents: “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

“If any provide not [temporally or spiritually] for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel” (1 Timothy 5:8).

“Inasmuch as parents have children in Zion . . . , that teach them not to understand the doctrine of repentance; faith in Christ the Son of the living God; and of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of the hands when eight years old, the sin be upon the head of the parents; . . . and they shall also teach their children to pray, and to walk uprightly before the Lord” (Doctrine and Covenants 68:4a, c).

Dear Ones,

Although she never preached a sermon or published a book, Susanna Wesley is known as the Mother of Methodism. This is because two of her sons, John and Charles Wesley, applied the lessons they had learned from their mother.

Susanna gave birth to 19 children. Nine died as infants. A maid accidently smothered one child. At her death, only eight of her children were alive. Susanna suffered many hardships during her life. In spite of these trials, every Sunday afternoon she provided spiritual training for her children, and every night during the week she met with them, one by one, to address their personal needs. Her efforts were rewarded.

Children generally reflect the examples and teachings they receive from their parents and grandparents. I can truthfully say, I was blessed with good and godly parents. They had three children. I was their first-born. Three years later, daughter Hattie came. Finally after two more years, a second son, Allen, came to live with us.

Our mother expressed her love by her tears. Whenever we were leaving, even if for only a few hours, or days, she would shed tears at our parting. In the presence of the Holy Spirit, at family prayer times, she would shed tears. She prayed for us. I still remember one of her frequent prayers; “Lord, bless my children. Help them grow up to be a blessing to the people living in their community.” I have learned that a mother’s prayers can have a profound effect upon the lives of her children.

When he didn’t know I was watching I saw an uncle kneel by his bedside to pray. This powerful example taught me more in an instant, than in many sermons.

My grandmother Harper lived across the road from us during our growing up years. I was 12 years old when she died. This was my first encounter with the death of a dearly loved member of our family. The details of the day of her death and funeral are still vivid in my memory. In her later years she had become nearly blind. After I had learned to read, she would occasionally ask me to read some of her favorite passages of scripture for her. As I grew toward maturity, I began to question whether these reading sessions were for her benefit or for mine? I know they blessed me. One of the scriptures she asked me to read was Jeremiah 17:5: “Cursed be the man that trusteth in man and maketh flesh his arm.” This verse of scripture has served me well through the years.

The memories of my father become more precious to me with each passing year. I cannot begin to describe in the scope of this writing, the many things he taught us by precept and example. Perhaps I can do this later.

I want to finish by quoting what Rufus Jones, the “Universal Christian” said on his 80th birthday: “I am most of all thankful for my birthplace, and early nurture in the warm atmosphere of a spiritually-minded home with a manifest touch of saintliness in it; Thankful indeed that from the cradle I was saturated with the Bible and immersed in an environment of religion of experience and reality. It was a particular grace that I was born into that great inheritance of spiritual wisdom and faith, accumulated through generations of devotion and sacrificial love. I never can be grateful enough for what was done for me by my progenitors before I came on the scene. They provided the spiritual atmosphere of my youth.”

I can only add, Amen! He beautifully expressed my sentiments.

My Love to All,

High Priest Francis Harper

Home Help Needed

I need someone to help me care for personal needs as my health is declining. I have a large home and would welcome a lady or college age young lady to come live with me. If that is not a possibility, then perhaps be here for several hours and that could be split between two people. I do not require a lot of meal preparation.

Please call for an interview and more information:

IIAW Updates and Directions

IIAW Updates and Directions

Hello, IIAW Friends,

Team Jesus will not be preparing meals or going out to the streets this weekend or anymore until further notice. If the team does decide to go it will be the men of God in small groups. God bless!

The Neighborhood Clean Up Days and the monthly IIAW meetings are suspended until we are clear of the COVID19 threat. Updates and planning can be done by email and text.

Critical things must be done during this time that moves the goals of the IIAW forward, for improving the quality of life of our community. They are small and seemingly of no consequence, yet do so much good. Every person young and old, male and female is called into service.

Recent events are causing more fear in people than we have ever seen. We can do a lot to calm people's hearts and even meet some needs. We have strong base of connections to assist. We are so blessed to have phones, social media, and the IIAW to stay in contact with others. We may not be able to meet collectively, but we can assist the Kingdom building work, by individually focusing on what God would have us do right now. For this reason, we may count this scourge a blessing, for it gives us a Divine Opportunity to establish and sustain strong bonds of friendship with our neighbors. COVID19 is causing the mobilization of all soldiers in the Army of the Lord. Let's keep our eyes and ears open, and be diligent and consistent in your faithfulness toward those who are suffering.

PRAY! Seek the Lord for direction, daily and moment by moment. Take time to be still and listen to hear God's heart. Be continuous and generous is praising Him. This is a major aim of the IIAW movement, to do all in accordance with God's loving will and timing. We can't accomplish anything and be successful unless we know what God desires us to say and do.

Fast! This ads fuel to the fire of our prayers. It puts them on steroids.

Study God's Word! Look and talk of the beautiful, what is of good report, what's just, what is honest and true around us, especially the great love God has for his children. Future emails will have verses for encouragement. Deuteronomy 30 is a powerful as we enter our own "Promised Land". Please take time to read all of it.

Prayer walk through your neighborhood. Saturday mornings are an excellent time. Take a bag along to collect litter and trash. Being seeing out in your neighborhood breaks the ice and opens the door to conversations with neighbors. We can still greet our neighbors at a distance. Walking your neighborhood is good exercise for a healthy body in more ways than just physically.

Check on your neighbors by phone and stay in touch with them. Be generous with comfort and encouraging words. See if there is anything they lack. People are scared, frustrated and angry with the uncertainty over COVID19 and what else may be soon upon us. We know that violence and crime soon follow if fear goes unchecked. We have a great opportunity to calm the fears of others, to save them AND ourselves. Declare the love and mighty works of God to everyone. As we do so we calm our own fears and are strengthened in our inner being, knowing that God is in control. Make our city different and better than all others.

Something big came out of First Fruits Daily Prayer Group this morning. A burden was placed on one sister's heart that we should pray through for a breakthrough in abortions. Another sister has a sign she plans to stand with on the Square that says, ADOPTION - THE LOVING OPTION. I wonder what those posted signs all over town would do for our community. I also thought of signs I would like to print and place in my yard, like: ARE YOUR NEIGHBORS OK? I've got others, but you get the idea. As we pray, God gives us ideas of things we can do individually as well as collectively to declare His Name, His mighty works and share his love. Now is the time for EVERY person to be on board every day and everywhere they go to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It's good to do monthly cleanup days, but God says we each need to step up the pace and extend our territory. Consider printing and placing yard signs on our property that offer living, loving, encouraging words. FYI - First Fruits Prayer Group has been meeting during cold weather at the Central Church, Delaware and South Avenue, from 6:30 - 8:00am every morning. When the weather reaches 55 degrees, we will be up on the Temple Lot. All are welcome.

www.whitepages.com

is a free website that allows one, by typing in an address, to get the names and phone numbers of Independence residents who live near you. It is not always current but it is a starting place. If you call and happen to get a wrong name, just tell the person the reason for your call, that you are checking to make sure they are OK. Don't be overly aggressive.

Take time to post your efforts and successes on the Independence Is Alive and Well Initiative Facebook page. It will encourage us all and give us ideas for how we can serve our neighbors.

Identify widows near by. Check on them by phone regularly. Supply any needs as they present themselves.

Always seek the Holy Spirit for direction as you move out in His service. He is very quick to respond.

That's all for now.

Your sister in Christ's service,

Home Apartments Needed

This is a different type of question from last time. I have a few older youth friends looking for church-family homes to stay in. I was very blessed to have found people who allow youth to stay in their basement apartment.

As you are on the pastorate, do you know of any church families who would be willing to have church youth come and stay with them? They would pay rent of course, and all of them are quite responsible.

I know that this isn't a great time for this kind of request, but there are people who would really appreciate it.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Rachel Mann

Recorded Sermons

Recorded Sermons

During these trying times when we are all supposed to stay home and away from group gatherings I would like to offer an alternative to church. Not sure if all services will be cancelled or not but this could be for any time. As the Grand-daughter of Oscar Case I am privileged to have a LOT of his recordings. I had asked my son to convert them from the old magnetic reel-to-reel tapes to CD and/or a website that anyone could access.

The website he set up is:
http://voicesoftherestoration.com
(Voices of the Restoration).

On this site you can access sermons from primarily Oscar and Hubert Case but also the following: Ray Zinzer, Robert Burch, Tommy Thomas, Arthur Oakman, Charles Heild, Leon F. Black, David Bland and Gene Hummel. Some of the tapes broke during the transition so there may be periods of silence but at least all is not lost from these Priesthood members of the past. The site is a work in progress so bear with us..

Thanks and I hope you enjoy!
