FASTING, PRAYING, STUDYING AND LIVING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD OCTOBER 1, 2021
As Paul states in Philippians 1:2-6 "Grace be unto you and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine, for the steadfastness of you all, making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, Being confident of this very thing: that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ,"
How wonderful to know that we serve a God who loves each of His creation so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son to come to earth to save us, if we chose to be saved. We all continue our journey through 2021 with great anticipation for the future which holds the promise of the return of Jesus Christ to claim his own.
Though times have been difficult, we know we can stand with assurance on the promises of God. We also are certain that things will get worse in the days ahead, but again, we have His promise which is so clearly stated in Doctrine and Covenants 81:3. It is the same promise given to mankind from the Garden of Eden. Notice DC 81:3a these words, "...I give unto you directions how you may act before me, that it may turn to you for your salvation." God has not left us alone to try to figure out our salvation."
We have three more months of this year left, and only God knows what lies ahead of us in the next few years. That is why we find in Proverbs 3:5,6 " Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
At the Conference of Restoration Elders Fall Gathering September 24-25, 2021, references were made to "a window being open" and establishing a "spiritual storehouse." The open window can be a reference to every opportunity each of us has to serve God and to obey his commandments. Windows can be opened as we discipline ourselves to comply with the directions from God. We know God has instructed us to fast, pray, study and live for the Kingdom, even Zion. It was mentioned that each time we do anything to serve God and do his will, we are building up our spiritual storehouse. As everyone in the world hastened to get supplies in the virus scare, so we, daily submit ourselves to God and engage in doing His will and we build up our spiritual storehouse, or "our treasures in heaven," where nothing can steal or destroy them.
It is being suggested by many, in the world, that we may be headed for continued situations when it will be difficult or maybe impossible to get needed supplies, including food and water. We stand on the promise that God has said that he would preserve his people. We must make sure we are his people. The services at the Fall Gathering are available on the Waldo Avenue RB website. A strong sermon by Elder Aaron Smith was preached at Missionary Branch September 19, 2021 and can be seen on the Missionary Branch website. It is highly recommended.
