ZIONWORKS NEWS SEPT. 29, 2002

ZIONWORKS NEWS SEPT. 29, 2002

Dear Saints,

“DON’T WAIT TIL THE FLOOD COMES TO START BUILDING THE ARK…THE LIKELIHOOD IS VERY HIGH THAT YOU’LL DROWN.” Jordan Peterson

What less than Zion does God expect of us? What half-way measures will please Him? For that matter, what half-hearted efforts of our own will be satisfying to our own souls? For those of you who do not know first-hand about the nature of our dedication (and I hope your dedication) to obey God’s command to “seek to bring forth and establish my Zion”, here is a re-print of a short paper about Zion and about Zionworks.

WHAT IS ZIONWORKS?

Zionworks is a grass roots association or gathering of individuals who are determined and dedicated to the “hands-on” work necessary for the physical reality of the kingdom on the earth, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Christ’s term for this kingdom on the earth, when its participants are dedicated to uncompromised obedience to celestial principles, is “Zion”. The overall purpose of Zionworks is to bring workers together so they can associate, cooperate and reinforce each other in this giant enterprize as directed by Christ. This enterprise will result in a Zionic situation among saints and a place of safety and refuge for the oppressed and beleaguered of the world to gather to and a populace prepared for Christ’s return. How desperately needed, now! Scriptures, prophecies and world events have been instructing us to be about this business for centuries.

The scriptures tell us many facts about Zion:

It will be a place of safety and refuge for the pure-hearted around the world who are suffering from oppression, privation and torture.

It will be a place of safety and refuge for the pure-hearted who would otherwise need to take up arms against their neighbors to try to survive.

There will be no laws but Christ’s laws there. When Christ returns, there will be no king/totalitarian or ruler there because Christ will be the ruler.

Those who fight against Zion will perish. Those contemplating or attempting to make an armed attack on Zion will be thwarted in their plans and attempts.

Zion will be a physical place, described as a city. As a city, it will, of course, need homes, water, sanitation, heat, roads and streets, farmers, doctors, carpenters, teachers, spiritual leaders, medical practitioners and all of the trades, occupations, industry and careers that make up a community that, through cooperation and righteous governance, thrives. In time, its spiritual and economic/infrastructural success will result in its expansion to cover a large portion of what is today the continental United States. Besides the spiritual blessings that come to a righteous people, physical blessings of abundance come to a conscientious and enterprising people. The work of Zion calls God’s people with their resources and needs to gather and work, under His direction, for the physical and spiritual establishment of His kingdom on the earth.

Today, however, the number one concern, the looming responsibility for Zionworks is physical survival. The safety and health of all people is in serious danger. Many people recognize that our way of life could come to an end at any time. An EMP burst, cyberattack, or engineered socio-economic collapse could, and will end all commerce and all travel, end all procurement, distribution and sales of food, water, and fuel, of all medical assistance, emergency response and all safety, resulting in a mass die-off from starvation, exposure, disease, warfare and violence. Many of us have known of this danger for years or decades, have seen it prophesied and have known of the need to be independent of Babylon. But few have actually developed an independent or self-sufficient life-style. Zionworks is a growing association of individuals who both recognize the state of national and world events and who are dedicated to the physical preparations for survival and for the thriving of God’s people.

Please tell others about Zionworks. As Zionworks gathers people and momentum, more work will get done. Soon, the website will be operative, and its purpose will be to educate, provide examples, and keep people in contact with each other, including a blog site. We need people with all skills and abilities to follow God’s direction in establishing a wholesome and functioning community of interdependent people.

NEXT MEETING: This coming Sunday, Oct.2nd at Randy and Deana VanEaton's home, 2820 N. Burnley, Buckner. Bring your own folding chair.

Our meetings always start out with prayer and prayers for special needs. There will be a watchman's report on world, national and prophesied events. There will be planning and discussion on moving forward with establishing ways to become independent of Babylon and providing wholesome a means of survival in a Godly setting. We have been continually blessed with the Holy Spirit and fulfilling relationships as we attempt to obey the Lord on his terms. We invite you to come fellowship with us and be a part of this goal of the restored gospel.

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD SEPTEMBER 29, 2022

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD SEPTEMBER 29, 2022

Blessings to the Saints around the World,

As conditions all over the world are different, so the thought of Living in the Kingdom of God may take on a different meaning to each of us. As the Saints go through the daily routine, we are affected by all things around us. The weather, atmosphere, interaction with others, in the family and outside the family, and so forth. Pretty typical for mankind since the Garden of Eden.

In a couple of daily scripture devotionals for this week, encouragement was given to read Mosiah 1- 3. As you know this was part of the scriptural challenge given to his people by King Benjamin. It is as applicable to us today and every day, as it was to that people in 130-124 BC. Perhaps even more vital for us because we are still in our state of probation whereas they have gone on to their reward. Take time soon, to refresh your memory of the words of God as spoken by King Benjamin.

God is the same ____________________

________________, and _______________________.

That scripture is found in Isaiah 29:25, Hebrews 13:8, I Nephi 3:27, 2 Nephi 1:65 and D&C 17:2g.

Since God does not change and we have record as to how He constantly reached out to the House of Israel all through the Old Testament and to the Church as well, all through the New Testament. As He led people away to better lands, He continued to reach out to the Jaredites, Nephites, Lamanites and their descendants. So, would He “change” when it comes down to to the Restoration? I think not!

From 1820 to 2022 God, our loving Father in Heaven, who created each of us and placed us on this earth continues to reach out to us today. Why? Because He loves each one so very much that He came down to earth and lived as we live, suffered and died, and Glory Hallelujah, He lives and wants us to be in His Kingdom when it is fully established on this earth.

So, we are living in a time when God continues to call out to us. He calls through all of our scriptures, through various servants, in addition to the Prophet, through the years. Just to remember a few of them: 1947, Roy Weldon, “Time Is Running Out,” 1957. Earl Curry, “The Endowment,” 1971 Ray Huggett, “Clouds Covering Zion,” 1960-1970’s, “The Creston, Iowa Experience,”1991, Walter Weldon, “Tell My People,” 2018-2020 messages through Patriarch Mike Ballantyne. September 24-25, 2022 in Kirtland Temple.

One of our hymns is “How Firm a Foundation.” The first verse says: “How firm a foundation, Ye Saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word; What more can He say than to you He has said, Who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?

The great challenge for each of us, as it has been for all mankind, is to respond quickly and positively to God's commandments. Trust and obey, for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus.

Attached is a Daily Devotional Guide for October 1, 2022 - January 1, 2023. If used by Saints around the world it can create a bond of being together, in spirit, each day.

God Bless
Paul Gage

Restoration School at Little Sioux, IA THIS WEEKEND

Restoration School at Little Sioux, IA THIS WEEKEND

Greetings Saints of the Restoration!

There are plenty of cabins available. If you'd like to have a "last getaway" with a church camp experience, this is it! The Lord is blessing us with very moderate weather (upper 70°'s and sunny!) We will also have a hay-rack ride Saturday late afternoon. Schedule is at the bottom of this notice.

For any RSVP's send me an email at: mrmrldsmember@yahoo.com

or call/text me at 402-639-2952

You are cordially invited to come to “A Holy Place” at our reunion grounds the weekend of September 30th through October 1st, 2022. This year for our ministry, we have Elders Gary Wilson and Shaun Turner sharing with us from Zion’s Hope and Missionary Restoration Branches, respectfully. For years, Brother Francis Harper led and organized the Restoration School for our area and would write a letter such as this. I have a few talents to offer the Lord, but one of them is not writing invitation letters such as this. In this particular instance, I have felt the need to write to you to encourage you and your family to attend.

Initially, the Restoration School was 10 days long, and was set aside for Priesthood members only. I do not know how the men that attended back in though years did it, as many of them were still in the workforce, but I indeed admire their dedication! Currently we only meet for a short weekend! My first year was 2009 and I remember staying with Mark and Laura Westermeyer. It was a blessing to stay with them and to fellowship with the brethren of the priesthood. I was so discouraged to see so few in attendance though! Brother Francis had asked Brian Turner to lead, and in the coming years I would be asked to lead the effort. We made a change in opening it up to all families to encourage better attendance, which helped some. In recent years, I’ve noticed the attendance again dwindling – so I write to you here, encouraging you to set aside September 30th and October 1st for the Lord and His work. Lay down your day to day activities and come meet Him at our “Holy Place” Come this weekend to set aside to ask ourselves the question, “Where is our Faith?” and “Do I still believe in the Fullness of the Gospel, the Restored Message?”

An unexpected effect of COVID was how many of us resorted to live-streaming or uploading messages. In that, I’ve been able to take some time to listen to others throughout the week. In that, I have found that there are a surprising number of saints and Priesthood that have become weakened in their faith in the Fullness of the Gospel. Like Paul, I’ve thought the same as his words to the saints at Galatia, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel;” (Galatians 1:6). Brother Francis repeatedly reminded me (and others) of the warning given in II Thessalonians 1:9 “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they may be saved.” Do you have a love for the Truth of Christ? John the Beloved warned the same to the church at Ephesus, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” (Revelation 2:4) I could share with you many more, but I think the point is made. Who is your first love, Jesus… or the world?

This weekend we will have Brothers Gary and Shaun to share with us. Gary is a longtime servant of the Lord in His Church. Gary is a teacher by trade so he will bring those skills to the table this weekend. Brother Shaun is relatively a “new guy on the block” he is a convert from Michigan that has gathered into the Land of Zion. He currently serves as the Presiding Elder of Missionary Branch and has a strong faith and will to serve the Lord! Come hear their experiences and what the Lord has prepared them to bring to us! I do believe this weekend, if you come, will experience this scripture below!

I Thessalonians 1:5 “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.”

Remember, Romans 10:16 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” So come to our “Holy Place” and have your faith strengthened by hearing!

Your Brother in Christ,

Mark McCormick

David Lynn Thatcher - Obituary

David Lynn Thatcher - Obituary

David

David Lynn Thatcher, 88 years old, died Thursday, September 22, 2022, at his home, after an incredible two and a half year battle with Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia, a disease with a normal life span of less than a year.
Lynn (David) was born December 18, 1933, in Independence, Missouri. He was born, went to school, graduated, married, raised three children, worked, retired, married for a second time after the death of his first wife, went through chemotherapy, and died- in short, he lived his entire life less than five miles from the place where he grew up. Lynn married Barbara Beth Bryant in 1953 and they had three children- he was enormously proud of his children and their accomplishments over the years. He proudly served his country by joining the United States Marine Corps in 1953 and was honorably discharged after two years of active service with the rank of Sergeant. Lynn worked for the Kansas City Power and Light Company from 1956 to 1979, then for Independence Power and Light Company from 1979-1999. He was ordained first a Deacon, then a Priest, finally an Elder in the Community of Christ Church, and was very active in his role as a minister and counselor to several pastors over the years, becoming a guiding influence in his home congregation at East Independence.

Lynn could do it all, from ironing a shirt and making pecan cinnamon rolls from scratch, to completely rewiring a 1951 Ford automobile and building his own house. He used his excellent electrical, mechanical, and automotive skills to help his friends in the Early Ford V-8 Club fix their cars- and anyone else with a horseless carriage. Lynn loved to travel and went all over the world with his mother-in-law, Verda’s, tours, and all over the United States in his van with his car buddies, Jim and Ed.

Most of all, Lynn was a man of integrity. Respect and Responsibility. That was his mantra. They were not just words for him, but the principles he lived by. Helping others was not just something he did, it was who he was.
David Lynn is preceded in death by his first wife of fifty-seven years and mother of his children Barbara Beth Bryant Thatcher; parents Thomas Sr., and Madge Thatcher; brother Thomas Thatcher, Jr.; sister Doris Lee Beckwith; brother Ellis Thatcher; and sister Mary Beckwith.

Lynn is survived by his Crazy Old Lady second wife Linda Charlene Waugh Thatcher; daughter Susan Belinda Murray and husband Charles; son Phillip Lynn Thatcher and wife Barbara; son Mark Allen Thatcher and wife Gwendolyn; six grandchildren: Eric Murray, Roshelle Carpenter, Jared Thatcher, Justin Thatcher, Bethany Allgeyer, and Jorden Thatcher; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A visitation will take place on Friday, September 30th, 2022, family will greet guest from 6:00-8:00pm. Lynn’s services will be taking place on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10am, both to be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th St. Independence, MO 64055) with burial to follow service. Lynn will be laid to rest in Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to any fund at The Community of Christ World Church.

Pro-Life Prayer Vigil

All are invited to participate in the National Life Chain Prayer Vigil this coming Sunday, October 2nd @ 2:30pm in Independence. (Please park in the parking lot just north of 815 N Noland Road)

The vigil is a peaceful demonstration of our support for moms and babies who are vulnerable to abortion and a way to witness to our community that these lives are valuable. We stand on the public sidewalk along Noland and 24 highway holding signs with pro-life messages and praying or singing hymns. This is a wonderful opportunity to join with your brothers and sisters in Christ to stand up for the unborn and the women and families impacted by the horror of abortion. We never know what the impact of our witness might be on those driving by - our presence could change the mind of an abortion-minded woman and save the life of her baby!
