Prayer Requests 30 Aug 2024

I received a prayer request from Nephi and Trudy concerning Neil Steedy. Neil Steedy passed yesterday, Wednesday August 28, 2024.

He had been ill for a while. He had suffered with diabetes in his feet for years. Neil had gotten worse since Saturday. He had sepsis and went into a coma.

Neil worked as an archaeologist in Mexico for 15 years and stayed another 5 years devoting himself to Book of Mormon research.

Please pray for his wife and family as they mourn his loss.

Conquer Series - GEM Group Starting September 3rd

Attention all men!!!
God Empowering Men (GEM) is excited to announce that we are starting another powerful semester of our men’s group study on Tuesday evenings from 7-8pm, starting this coming Tuesday, September 3rd. There is great need for spiritual support as we struggle through life and battle sexual addictions. We are not meant to struggle alone – we need Jesus Christ and each other!

GEM is a men’s group focused on raising up men of spiritual power who are fighting the battles alongside their Lord and winning over evil. Our goal is to train, educate, encourage, and support men who have a desire for growth and change so they can be conquerors with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are called to be men of power who have overcome the world!

This semester we will go through the Conquer Series, a professionally designed series to help men overcome addiction and lusts. Each week, we will watch a video and then discuss it in small groups. These lessons will provide powerful tools, create accountability, and foster support through the healing and freedom process.

More information can be found on the Conquer Series here: https://conquerseries.com/whats-the-conquer-series

If you are interested or unsure, please consider coming to our introductory night, Tuesday, September 3rd. No commitment is necessary, so you are encouraged to come and see if it is right for you.

Please pass this information on to as many as possible. Freedom can only come through Jesus Christ, the source of our strength.

In the Gospel bonds of love and mercy,

Benji Pedersen

Living In The Kingdom Of God August 29, 2024

Living In The Kingdom Of God August 29, 2024

Greetings to all God’s people around the world,

I’m sure we have all heard and maybe said, why am I going through this, why is God “allowing” this to happen to me, and it some cases it has diminished our faith.

Several things have been shared this past week. Keep in mind that there are two parts to the soul and thus two parts, physical and spiritual to every aspect of our lives. Jesus conveyed many truths by way of parables. A parable is defined as an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. That is why many people and at times his own apostles came to him asking, “What is the meaning of that parable.”

A preacher gave a message about “The Stewardship of Self,” and asked the listeners “Where

do You Live.” There is a town in Georgia named, “Between.” So people who live there, when asked where they live say, “I live in Between.” The next question is, Where do we live, spiritually? Do we live in between God and the world? If so, that might be the reason things do not always go as we think they should.

At the Healing Hearts meeting last Sunday, Sister Mary Lou Kennon had the devotions.

She read the beatitudes “Blessed are all they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.” She asked us, what were we hungering and thirsting after, righteousness or things of the world. (Healing Hearts is a support group for those who have lost a husband or wife.)

Some thoughts from a book entitled “21 Reasons Why Bad Things Happen to Good People”

Written by Dave Earley, Chairman of the Dept. of Pastoral Leadership for Liberty University and Liberty Theological Seminary.

"I had not prayed for a long time because of what happened to my sister. My prayers ran into the same old "dead end." Why did God let this happen?

Remember these truths:

1.God is under no obligation to give us an explanation for suffering.
2.God HAS given us plenty of explanation if we will only look for it and accept it.
3.God can do more than one good thing through the bad things that happen to us.
4.God knows what it is to suffer and He knows how to help us in our suffering.

The reasons

1.The Reason no one wants to hear: Worldly assumptions vs the Scriptures:

A. The world is full of suffering and evil.

B. God created the world

C. Therefore, God is the one to blame.

Genesis: 1:1-3 2:1 God created the world and said it was all GOOD!

Genesis 7:40 God gave man his agency to choose what he would do. Adam and Eve chose the wrong tree.

Because man has agency he often chooses wrongly and wrong choices have consequences.

2.To Win an Unseen Victory Job 1,2

1.To Expand Our perspective of God Job 42:1,2
2.To Deepen Our humility before God Job 42:3-4
3.To Produce Greater intimacy with God Job 42:5-6
4.To Prepare Us to Receive far Greater Blessings Job 42
5.To Prepare Us for Higher Promotion Genesis 50:20
6.To Prepare Us for the Miraculous 2 Chronicles 20
7.To Increase the Testimony of God Daniel 6:25-27
8.To Bring Us to Himself Acts 16:9-34
9.To Stretch Us for Greater Growth Romans 5:3-5
10.To Remind Us that we are not home yet. Romans 8
11.To Shape us more like Jesus Romans 8:28-31
12.To Remind Us that we are the Body of Christ I Corinthians 12:12-14
13.To equip us for Further Ministry 2 Corinthians 1:3-5
14.To Remove our self sufficiency 2 Corinthians 12:5-10
15.To Expand our evangelistic efforts Philippians 1:2-18
16.To Promote us to greater glory Philippians 1:21-22
17.To Give us Further Instruction Hebrews 12
18.To Call Us to Increased Prayer James 1:5
19.To Refine Our Faith 1 Peter 1:6-9

"THE ULTIMATE CASE OF BAD THINGS HAPPENING

TO THE BEST PERSON TO EVER LIVE ON EARTH,

WAS WHEN JESUS CHRIST WAS CRUCIFIED

FOR MY SINS!"

As we continue in the confusion and turmoil of today’s world, we must remember that God has a plan and when we follow God’s plan we gain the benefits. When we ignore or refuse to comply with God’s commandments, we reap the consequences. So, if and when things just don’t seem to go “right,” check and see where you are living spiritually and what you are hungering and thirsting after. That is not to say we will not have difficulties, but we will have the assurance that God is in control.

God bless

Paul Gage

Kelsey Michaela (Jones) Cole - Obituary

Kelsey Michaela (Jones) Cole
July 7, 1995 — August 17, 2024
Independence

Kelsey M (Jones) Cole, 29, of Missouri and Maine, left her loved ones behind August 17, 2024, to continue her journey beyond.

She was born in Ellsworth, Maine to Robert “Bobby” and Wilma Jones on July 7, 1995. Her beauty went far beyond what the eyes see. She loved God. Her radiating smile came straight from the heart. She was strong, independent, compassionate, full of love, and so much more.

Her smile of determination was evident early on in years. She packed her little suitcase with what an almost three-year-old deemed essential and began walking to catch her ride to Scarborough. She was a good student for her big “Sistah” and could write her name and three letter words…like “Bob” written with a rock on the side of her father’s truck. She “read” stories she memorized to her dolls and stuffed animals with plans to be a teacher when she grew up. Placing God first in her life, Kelsey used her teaching desire as a Sunday school teacher. She poured hours into each lesson then perfectly organized it in her teacher binder.

She earned her own money for school clothes by going on her father’s boat, was an EMT for Moosabec Ambulance Service, held various child/dog sitting jobs, and made new friends while employed at Moosabec Video & Variety.

Kelsey graduated in the Jonesport-Beals High School Class of 2013. She attended University of Maine at Machias, Washington County Community College classes at UMM campus, then received her degree as a Registered Nurse at Eastern Maine Community College Class of 2017. Her nursing career began at Eastern Maine Medical Center (now Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center) before her move to Missouri where she purchased a home and continued caring for patients at Centerpoint Medical Center for the past five years .

Kelsey loved being surrounded by family, in younger years for play (beauty pageants, dress up, weddings, playing house, roadside Kool-Aid stands, etc.) then in recent years for reminiscing, for making new memories, and for just being together. She blessed her family with the addition of two tiny feet belonging to Lincoln Robert. Her love for him is incomparable and beyond that of anyone else’s love for him. Before he could talk, he mimicked mealtime and bedtime prayers with his best sound effects.

Kelsey also shared that same great love for Wes, the “perfect for her” half that made her whole. A divine relationship formed between them in August 2021 withstanding his year-long deployment overseas. They pledged their endless love for one another in the presence of family and friends December 18, 2022. Attending church camps together as a family, taking family walks/hikes, and vacationing, in Niagara Falls, Disney, and Maine were a few of their special memories further strengthening their family bond.

Excitement and overwhelming joy filled the Cole residence when they learned a baby girl would join them in November. Tragically their anticipation turned to heartbreak on July 28, 2023, when Lilly Rae at 25 weeks was delivered without a heartbeat. The following month began a yearlong battle for them as Kelsey was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. She fought with unwavering faith, courage, strength, dignity, and determination. Long hospital stays, clotting complications, as well as complications from radiation and chemo closed the book on their fairytale and crushed their dreams of growing old together.

Kelsey was predeceased by their precious baby girl, Lilly Rae Cole; Grandparents: Ralph Alley, Francis and Delcie Jones; Special friend: Russ Reid.

She leaves behind her best friend, her devoted, loving husband: Wesley “Wes” Cole; Her pint-sized best friend and son: Lincoln Embree; Dad & Mum: Robert “Bobby” and Wilma Jones; “Sistah”/friend and brother-in-law: Lindsey Jones and Jody Zeisloft; Nanna: Joyce L Alley; Aunts & Uncles: Raynard & Candy Alley, Lenell & Dale Fenton, Bethanie & Danny Beal, Sheldon & Michele Alley, and Lee Jones; Father-in-law: Clint Cole; Mother-in-law and husband: Stephanie and Mike Berry; Brother-in-law and wife : Gabriel “Gabe” & Taylor Cole; Grandparents: Verna & Max Swisegood, Gary & Nancy Salmon; Cousins whom she loved dearly; Friends all over the world; Fur babies: Marley Ann Jones & Carter Michael Jones.

“I love you all. Will always love you. Remember that God is still good all the time.” – Kelsey
