Subject: Fwd: Conference...
Greetings of love,
We experienced the healing power of the Lord this morning in a way I will never forget. Yesterday a resolution was narrowly defeated that left wounded hearts and frustration for some. This morning Br. Rolfe expressed concern over the matter and asked that it be brought back for discussion, after which patriarch Milo Burnett offered counsel to the body. Then a motion was made to have the melchizedek priesthood gather in the worship center for further deliberation and prayer. It was voted on and everyone voted yes, except a row of men seated across from me. As the men filed out to walk to the worship center I thought to myself, 'they will never change their minds' . The room emptied out and an impromptu prayer service was put together for those left in the conference building. We then entered into a period of mighty prayer. Praying for unity, understanding, humbleness, and that the men would prefer their brother in their deliberations. As the hour drew to a close and we finished the final prayer, the doors opened and the melchesidek men filed in singing, 'Spirit of God' and the room was filled with a sweet spirit. The scripture that says, And I say to you, Be one; and if ye are not one, ye are not mine,*...was brought to life at that moment, in that room.
After lunch there were several presentations and at 4:30 there was a lovely banquet for the ladies. The tables in the dining room were decorated beautifully, Kelly Canfield had prepared a delicious meal, and a beautiful group of the Lords handmaidens shared in fellowship. Ron VanFleet was the guest speaker and with humor and humbleness shared a message of hope and love with us.
Elder Verne Allen from Florida was in charge of the evening service. Patriarch Milo Burnett was the speaker and special music was provided by Br. Sperry.
It was a day of many blessings.

A nasty flu bug hit me Friday afternoon and I left the conference, came home and slept for almost 14 hours. So, I am playing catch up now.
Friday was another great day filled with fellowship and love. At the early morning prayer service, Hugh Caldwell and Gary Metzger were ordained to seventy, in a service overflowing with a sweet tender spirit. Several folks told me this week was more like a reunion experience then a conference.
At the beginning of the afternoon session, Brother Bill Herod from Dallas was ordained to high priest. During the business session, the various quorums gave their reports and we deliberated about the representation of members who may come into the fold from various off- shoot groups. When the business was over for the day we were treated to the premier of a really neat video, about Zion, that was put together by the Youth Media Corps. They plan to send it out to all the church groups.
I left before the evening service but heard that high priest Alan Smith did a wonderful job with his message for the congregation.
The final day of conference is always bitter sweet. We are pleased with the progress that was made during the week, but sad to know we will be saying good bye again to the folks we love. Brother Rudy Leutzinger was ordained to high priest at the beginning of the morning session. The following men were elected to serve as conference officers for the year. President...Rob Rolfe. Vice President...Jim Vun Cannon. Secretary...Rudy Leutzinger. Treasurer...Craig Moore. Recorder...Ron Vermeland. Historian....Gary Kuntz.
The conference ended with the body singing, 'We've a Story To Tell To The Nations' as the flags were carried down off the platform.
Final thoughts....This was, in my opinion, one of the finest weeks we have had as a conference. Some of the resolutions looked as though they would be divisive and we hoped and prayed there would not be a split. In spite of our humanness, the Lord in His mercy saw fit to pour out His Spirit on us in great power, changing minds and hearts, and bringing hope for even greater blessings as we labor for His purposes.
If anyone is interested in a copy of the minutes, just email me and I will send them after we get a copy of today's minutes.
Sending my love and best wishes for you as you celebrate the Risen King tomorrow.
