 ZIONWORKS NEWS, OCTOBER 25th, 2023

ANY DOCTRINE THAT CHRIST DID NOT TEACH IS FALSE DOCTRINE

The statement below was presented to the attendees at the October 22nd Zionworks meeting to reinforce members concerning the nature of the doctrine of Christ and to apprise the public of the basis for our fellowship and cooperative efforts:

Recently, attempts have been made by individuals to use our meetings and our email addresses for self-promotion and promotion of false doctrines. Some of the false doctrines that have attempted to influence us are plural marriage, reincarnation, multi-theism, the belief that God progressed from man to God, the belief that men can progress to a God/creator, and more abominations that Jesus never taught.

In our dedication to the Kingdom and to the fulfillment of souls, we are courteous and loving to everyone, but we do not entertain errant or false doctrine. The doctrine of Christ comes directly from Christ because he is the Word. His doctrine is not derived from or filtered through any religion or human concept. The pure doctrine and gospel of Christ are eternal and unchangeable. They abide in Christ, in the realm of Heaven and in Christ’s teachings. They are pure and contain no seeds of error. They lead to fullness of life and eternal life. Erroneous, false and evil doctrine are originated by the adversary of eternal truth, eternal love, eternal happiness and eternal justice.

The pure doctrine of Christ leaves no loose threads from which errant doctrine can be woven or insinuated. Any doctrine that Christ did not clearly teach is suspect of being false doctrine, will lead to more speculation and is not to be taught. In fact, Christ cannot authorize the teaching of any concept that is not purely his. Anyone attempting to teach errant or speculative doctrine has no authority from God to do so, even if he thinks he is doing God’s errand.

The doctrine of Christ and the gospel of Christ are eternal; they are of love, of truth, of fulfillment of souls and eternal life. This is the foundation of our bond and cooperation with each other. It is the source of true vision and of yearning for the Kingdom.

The pure gospel of Jesus Christ contains the keys, or is the key, to personal transformation* and to the Kingdom. The kingdom referred to here is the kingdom on the earth AND the eternal kingdom of God—the source of all wonder, love, knowledge and truth, and one’s immersion in it. However, by immersing ourselves in beliefs and endeavors that are contrary to the marvelous and all-revealing Gospel, we cut ourselves off from real discovery of eternal wonder and find ourselves bound and imprisoned. God created us to discover life, eternal freedom and eternal happiness.

*”And be ye not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what that good and acceptable and perfect will of God is. ” Romans 12:2

Doctrine and Covenants, Section 3

16a Behold, this is my doctrine: Whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me, the same is my church;

16b whosoever declareth more or less than this, the same is not of me, but is against me; therefore, he is not of my church.

17 And now, behold, whosoever is of my church, and endureth of my church to the end, him will I establish upon my Rock, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against him.

18 And now, remember the words of him who is the life and light of the world, your Redeemer, your Lord, and your God. Amen.

3 Nephi

31 Behold, this is not my doctrine, to stir up the hearts of men with anger one against another; but this is my doctrine, that such things should be done away.

32 Behold, verily, verily I say unto you, I will declare unto you my doctrine. And this is my doctrine, and it is the doctrine which the Father hath given unto me;

33 And I bear record of the Father, and the Father beareth record of me, and the Holy Ghost beareth record of the Father and me, and I bear record that the Father commandeth all men, everywhere, to repent and believe in me;

34 And whoso believeth in me, and is baptized, the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God.

35 And whoso believeth not in me, and is not baptized, shall be damned.

36 Verily, verily I say unto you, that this is my doctrine; and I bear record of it from the Father; and whoso believeth in me, believeth in the Father also;

37 And unto him will the Father bear record of me; for he will visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost;

38 And thus will the Father bear record of me; and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost, are one.

39 And again I say unto you, Ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in no wise receive these things.

40 And again I say unto you, Ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.

41 Verily, verily I say unto you, that this is my doctrine; and whoso buildeth upon this, buildeth upon my rock; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against them.

It was never the intent to expose any of our email addresses. The email provider I have been using, Protonmail, has an option for using BCC in our group emails, which is how our newsletters are sent. Each time I prepare a newsletter I click on BCC and it highlights and I then, as prompted, I identify which group I want BCC’d. It doesn’t work. Protonmail doesn’t have technical assistance that I can access to make their system work.

Also, as you have experienced, there are problems with our group emails being used as a forum or chat room. A chat room or something like a forum or blog would be vitally healthy and beneficial to individuals and to Zionworks mission. The web site committee is working on a practical means to make that happen, but for now, please email zionworkz@protonmail for any communication.

Preparedness coordinator, Jim Huseby

UPDATE 10-25-23

I have had computer technical assistance from one of our members and the email BCC problem should be fixed.

MORE UPDATES:

At our Last meeting, retired state agriculture agent and life-long Kingdom builder, Alan Teel visited us. Among many other agricultural and self-sustaining projects he has accomplished, he explained to us an efficient system that he developed for independent power generation that would make us independent of the grid. This, like most “small-scale” independent living situations, is still best accomplished by a group of dedicated and cooperative people. The Kingdom on earth can only be physically built and maintained by people uncompromisingly dedicated to God’s principles.

NEXT MEETING: Sunday, Nov. 5, 2:00 PM at Central Branch, 919 S. Delaware, Independence. Bring Items for the bartering table and expect some very interesting agenda and conversation.

QUOTES

“Think about this—we don’t necessarily need a large gathering (even though God calls all who will hear and can respond) ---we need earnest workers. The term ‘remnant’, meaning the few who remain, is frequently used in the scriptures.” Melissa Stayton

Robert Moe - Obituary

January 28, 1927 — October 9, 2023

Independence

Robert Gordon Moe, (called Bob) age 96 of Independence Missouri, the son of Clarence and Regina (Gord) Moe, was born in Yakima, Washington, on January 28, 1927. He passed away at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri on October 9, 2023.

Bob grew up in Wapato, Washington and after graduating from High School in 1944, he served as a Sergeant during World War II in the United States Army from December 1945 – February 1947.

On June 27, 1946, Bob married Verl Shrock. Bob and Verl purchased 45 acres of undeveloped land in the Columbia Basin Project of Pasco, Washington. The land was in its natural state of sagebrush and sand and was sold by the government giving preference to qualified veterans of WWII. During their years experiencing with different crops, they became leaders in the farming area. Bob was recognized and helped establish the Future Farmers of America Program in area schools. Bob was awarded the Honorary Chapter Degrees Outstanding Service Award. In the end years of farming, Bob specialized in growing asparagus on all 45 acres. He was known at the University of Washington as the best asparagus grower in the state. Later in his life, Bob became a realtor specializing in commercial and farm sales. Bob also had a Private Pilot License. He enjoyed renting a small plane to fly back and forth for farming.

Bob and Verl had five children, Jerry, Gary, Vickey, Dennis, and Kristi. Bob was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in Pasco, Washington. While living there he was Pastor at his church 6 years, Auditor 4 years, General Church Trustee 15 years, and 6 years Director of the Montana Reunion.

In 1995, Bob and Verl, by direction from the Lord, were told to move to Zion, Independence, Missouri being the Headquarters or Centerplace. They purchased a home in Buckner, Missouri, where they continued to be active in the Lord’s work.

Bob lost his loving wife, Verl, on November 6, 2009, after 63 years of marriage. On June 12, 2010, Bob married Lois Heide Lane. She had also lost her husband, Gerald, who had passed away April 15, 1997, after 47 years of marriage. Bob and Lois both had a testimony from the Lord they were to marry each other.

Their greatest desire was to continue sharing the truth of the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ restored again upon the Earth on April 6, 1830, according to the Scriptures-The Inspired Version of the Bible, The Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants. And to think of these things in relation to the Kingdom of God, the building of Zion, and the winning of souls to Christ. During Bob’s lifetime he performed many church services, marriages, weddings, funerals, pastorships, reunions, taught classes, boy scout leader, gave many sermons and administrations.

Proceeding Bob in death were his parents, Clarence and Regina (Gord) Moe; brother, Roger Moe; wife Verl Shrock Moe; 2 children, Dennis Moe and Kristi Moe-Rymes; stepson, Terry Lane; grandsons Jason Moe and Shannon Moe-Azure; granddaughter, Kimberly Moe; and great -grandson, Cade Rhymes.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lois Lane Moe; 3 children, Jerry Moe (Lupe), Gary Moe (Carole), Vickey Moe-Azure (Michael); daughter-in-law Nancy Smith Moe (Dennis); son-in-law Barry Rhymes (Kristi); stepdaughter Sharon Lane Griffin (Elvin); 21 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren and their spouses; 37 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob’s greatest passion was always devoted in serving his Savior, Jesus Christ. We know he is happy in Heaven now, free of all his bodily bondage, and free to continue sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Disturbing Dream

 Disturbing Dream

This past Sunday morning (early on October 22, 2023), I was awakened very early to a disturbing dream. There was commotion everywhere. Phones did not work. People were running from threats coming from every direction it seemed. They couldn't seem to get food or water, which was not the greatest of their immediate worries.
Although I tried to go back to sleep, it was difficult. I finally got up to these words from the still small voice of the Lord: "The armies of the enemy are crossing the border by the thousands every day." I kept hearing this message quietly but firmly throughout the day.
Still I tried to stay focused on things I needed to get done over the weekend. But the warning kept coming.
I had recently seen a few videos of many illegal aliens coming across our southern border daily and wondered what was new about this impress of the Spirit of the Lord. Still the message persisted.
Sometime in the afternoon when asking what I was to do with this impress, I was told I was being called as a watchman to communicate the warning I was being told.
Sometime after supper, I asked what was the particular threat. I was told, Hezbollah. And that they will be very destructive here in this land.
In mid 2022, when asking about my work situation and concerns I had about making particular plans for the rest of the year, I was told that many of the judgments I had been shown since late 1989 would take place in 2024, and it would be okay to go forward with my work plans for the second half of 2022 as well as on into much of 2023.
Given the impress, and the soberness with which it was given to me all day Sunday, I would encourage each one to remember the following scripture: Luke 21
It's my understanding that during the next year, from now until next November, we will see a lot of changes in the world around us, especially in our country.
I want you to know I love you in Christ Jesus, and I pray God's rich blessings will be upon you to preserve you in the faith of Jesus Christ as we pass through this troubling time.
Dwight Burford

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD OCTOBER 26, 2023

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD OCTOBER 26, 2023

Greetings Dear Saints with some of the final words of Amaleki as found in Omni 1:46-47,

46 “And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation and the power of his redemption. 47 Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth, ye will be saved.”

Keeping in mind that we find in Doctrine and Covenants 85:4a that the body and the spirit equals the soul. So if we offer our “whole soul” we are offering our body and spirit. That, of course, correlates to the First Great Commandment, which is _________________________________________________________.

The two great commandments are so important that they are mentioned in Matthew 22; Mark 12 and Luke 10. Did you also know these commandments or slight variations are found in Deuteronomy 6:5,6; 11:13; 13:3,4; 30:6, Joshua 22:5; I Samuel 12:20; 2 Chronicles 34:31, and Doctrine and Covenants 59:2? Coincidence? God does not work that way.

Why did God repeat them so many times? Each of us must answer that for ourselves. We might say, they were for different groups of God’s people and in different time periods. We could also say that God’s people were and are sometimes rebellious, slow to hear and slow to respond.

Most, if not all members of the Church can quote Doctrine and Covenants 140:5c “The work of preparation and the perfection of my Saints go forward slowly, and _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

Did you notice similar wording in the message from Kirtland in 2022? Look at page two, paragraph six, last line. Write it in here ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

One year and almost one month has now gone past. What will we do as individuals and a people in the next eleven months to be ready? We each need to examine our own life and seek God’s direction as to how we need to be ready. Another thing to keep in mind is what if we are called home before the eleven months elapses? When God calls us home, our time on earth is over and there are no more chances to “redeem ourselves” in the flesh. We cannot wait on someone else, even in our own families, but must do the very best we can to be permitted to go into the Wedding Feast.

We must not allow anything to be a hindrance or barrier to our everyday living in the Kingdom of God.

God bless,

Paul Gage

Lord's Supper/Sacrament Preparation

Lord's Supper/Sacrament Preparation

Hello Fellow Saints,

“…See that ye not partake of the sacrament of Christ unworthily; but see that ye do all things in worthiness.” ~Mormon 4:95

“Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven; and I, the Lord, will remember them no more....if a man repententh of his sins: Behold, he will confess them and forsake them.” ~D&C 58:9c,d

“And the church did meet together oft to fast, and to pray…and they did meet together oft to partake of bread and wine in remembrance of the Lord Jesus. And they were strict to observe that there should be no iniquity among them.” ~Moroni 6:6-7

For a little while now it has been put upon my heart to go into a deep preparation before partaking of the Lord’s Supper again. We all know that this is a most sacred ordinance that is not to be taken lightly and that we need to come before His table fully prepared and worthy. We should not go to church that morning, “repent” of our sins at the door and believe that we are worthy to partake in sacrament.

“Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh condemnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.” ~1st Corinthians 11: 27-29

We need to prepare ourselves daily until the next time we partake in sacrament. For many, that means the regularity of it being on the first Sunday of each month. This gives us more than ample time to be ready to come prepared to come before the Lord in full purpose of heart. However, it also gives us ample time to sin and fall into much foolishness, especially if we under the false belief that we can simply “repent” of our sins the morning of, leaving them outside the doors of the sanctuary and picking them up again after we leave.

We must not take this ordinance lightly and if we have in the past, it is now a time for us to be truly repentful and take action to make sure that we are sufficiently prepared before we partake again.

I have started a Facebook group and am inviting all who are on Facebook and want to join in, to click on the below link (attached closer to the end of this e-mail). It will be ten days of preparation, with the tenth day actually being the day that most will have the opportunity to partake in communion. It is left up to the dictates of your own conscience on how much to you want to follow the guidelines and how much you may want to participate.

My husband, Todd Lavigne has helped immensely in choosing many scriptures to go along with each day leading up to communion. Priest Lloyd Mahoney, from Canada, and Priest Robert Willoughby from England will actively participate in the group to help us each be more sufficiently prepared to partake. Both of these gentlemen, have often felt the pains that come with being so isolated and they understand the importance and significance of sacrament. The group is open to all members, including priesthood (there are others on there!) and anyone is free to share, discuss, etcetera in the group. For anyone who is not on Facebook and would like to the daily Scriptures shared, songs, etcetera, feel free to send me your e-mail and I will send them out daily. My e-mail is: Crystalx5@outlook.com
Here is the link to the Facebook group for anyone who would like to join:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/3668198466840873

The following is the guidelines for the group. Again, it is up to you to decide your level of participation.

ISRAEL’S MISSION

Here is a clearly written article by Michael Laitman about Israel’s identity and mission. It looks to be the exact same mission for what we term “Latter Day Israel” and even God’s purpose for the United States. What the Lord says unto one, He says unto all.

Unifying Israel: A Call to Action for a Better Future

Unifying Israel: A Call to Action for a Better Future

The world has again turned its attention toward the tiny Jewish state. Celebrities, journalists and world leaders are among a legion of people expressing their sympathy and standing by Israel’s side. Iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower in Paris are bathed in the colors of the Israeli flag.

History, however, clearly shows that support for Israel can fade in an instant.

The people of Israel are meant to shine, to be “a light unto the nations,” and set an example for other nations. It is not by chance that it is a nation renowned for its innovativeness. The pioneering spirit of the Jewish people is due to a deeper potential that they possess, the ability to create a model society where unity prevails over intense division.

Such a unified spirit formed the people of Israel to begin with, i.e., people from all walks of life in ancient Babylon who applied Abraham’s method and attained a higher unified level of consciousness—namely “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

A faint glimmer of unity now seems to surface after heavy blows. But if slander and divisive pride return, the people of Israel risk losing the world’s admiration.

In my book, The Jewish Choice: Unity or Anti-Semitism, I showed a historically-recurring pattern of attitudes among the Jewish people, and toward them from other nations: When the people of Israel let divisions drive them apart, they invite tragedies upon themselves; and when they unite, they prosper.

A Hamas member who participated in the terror attacks on October 7 revealed how the ongoing demonstrations in Israel encouraged Hamas during their year-long preparations for the attack. The intensely divisive atmosphere among the people of Israel throughout 2023 ended up exploding into what has already become widely known as the darkest day in Jewish history since the Holocaust.

Then, after the tragic events on October 7, the people of Israel experienced a collective heartbreak and melting, and they regrouped in a new climate of mutual concern and support.

We need to view today’s unfolding of events as another painful reminder that division does the people of Israel no good. It is not what the world wants from them, and it emboldens those who seek to harm them.

Subconsciously, the world wants a united people of Israel. As Rav Abraham Isaac Kook wrote, when the hearts of the people of Israel unite, “all the world’s civilizations will be renewed through the renewal of our spirit, all opinions will align, all life will glisten with the joy of rebirth at our emergence, all beliefs will don new clothes” (Shmoneh Kvatzim, vol. 5, 64). Abraham’s blessing to all nations will manifest strongly and openly, spearheaded by the efforts of the people of Israel. As long as the people of Israel continually add to their unity above any kinds of divisions that surface among them herein, then it is certain that the world’s support for them will also continually rise.

“What I say unto one I say unto all, watch, for the adversary spreadeth his dominions and darkness reigneth; and the anger of the Lord kindleth against the inhabitants of the earth; and none doeth good, for all have gone out of the way.” D&C 81:1e

CALENDAR

NEXT WORK DAY: There a number of people needing help that can’t get it done by themselves. For some unexplainable reason, we always get more done on work days than seems possible and always have fun. Last Saturday, we did some landscaping, covered a greenhouse and neatly stacked a huge wood pile! Anyway, we haven’t picked which family we will be helping on the next work day, which will be Saturday, October 28th. It will be announced soon.
