Monthly Tidings of Zion-January, 2018

Greetings to all the Saints around the world. We trust the Lord was with you through last year and will continue with you in 2018. We apologize for not publishing a monthly Tidings for November and December, but there were too many obstacles to getting them done. Issue # 121 of the regular Tidings was published in November, 2017 and should be in the homes of the Saints everywhere. The next regular issue will be published in mid-late February, 2018 and will carry information about summer camps and reunions.+
The CRE leadership is issuing the following statement in regard to the recent development in Brazil regarding plates similar to the Book of Mormon plates.

Dear Saints,

The Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE )Coordinating Council and the CRE Chairman met with Bob Moore and Joseph F. Smith the evening of November 21, 2017 to hear their testimonies and report concerning their recent experience in Brazil. Both men shared their testimony and answered questions freely. The meeting was cordial and respectful, and we, the members of the Coordinating Council and the CRE Chairman, are appreciative of having had the opportunity to hear from these men directly. Subsequent to the meeting, the Coordinating Council and CRE Chairman had an opportunity to pray about what had been shared, and came together to discuss the matter on December 19.
The following statement comes from the members of the Coordinating Council and the CRE Chairman, and does not reflect the official position of the Conference since there has been no opportunity for the elders to gather and consider the matter.

After having prayerfully and carefully considered the testimonies and report shared by Bob Moore and Joseph F. Smith concerning their experience in Brazil, while believing both men to be sincere, we have a number of serious concerns and questions about what has been shared. Due to these concerns and questions, and having no confirmation of the Spirit that what has been shared is true, we cannot endorse their testimonies at this time. We will continue to pray that all might be sensitive to the Lord’s truth concerning this matter, and all other matters concerning His work in these the latter days.

Sincerely with the Grace of God,
CRE Chair William "Vim" Horn

Kirtland Area Reunion Testimonies by the Telljohann Family

Virgil Telljohann II

I was glad all of my family were able to attend the reunion this year. Most of our family stayed for the whole week and experienced a good spirit. In one service, after the last person had prayed, all the priesthood up front got on their knees and I did the same. There have been several sermons, online, suggesting that the Saints do this. I am so grateful for the prayers and testimonies offered by my family and for the many other areas of the reunion and camp that they assisted with.

Marsha Telljohann, wife of Virgil II

Our family consists of my husband Virgil II, myself, our son Sean, his wife, Krista and their children, Ivan, Sage, and Laura; our son, Virgil III, his wife, Christine and their children, Wyatt and Otto; and our daughter, Brenda and her children, Jeremy and Alexandra. We all live in the Lima, Ohio area. Many prayers were offered up for those who were sick, hurting, struggling, etc. and there were several Administrations. Later, we began to hear of healings and prayers being answered.
All week with each service, we were impressed, from God, to make changes in our lives, to repent, fast, and pray to become grounded in God's Word and to follow His commandments. The reunion/camp was a great time of healing and forgiveness for our family. The reunion/camp at Temple Grove was a very Spirit-filled experience.

Virgil Telljohann III

I was overjoyed to have my entire family at Temple Grove this year. I had not been there for about 15 years. I was amazed at how the Good Spirit brought all of us so very close to Zionic conditions. Even now, my soul longs to be back with the Saints in that sweet communion with God. O how much greater will be our joy when those of us who endure will be together in Zion.

Christine Telljohaann, wife of Virgil III

This was my first time to attend the reunion. I did not grow up in the church and God did not play a role in my upbringing; nor did I want anything to do with any type of religion when I was younger. My mother-in-law, asked me a number of years ago if I would ever attend a church camp and I gave her a quick and biting, "No." It was never brought up again. Fast forward to this year, and there I was at the Temple Grove reunion, and actually excited about it. I had a number of problems and was under stress, but God took all of that away so I could be with my family and have the experiences we shared. In the final service, a young woman went up to receive an Administration. She had strayed away for several years and was seeking forgiveness. She was told that she was forgiven of her sins. At that moment, I was so overcome with joy for her, it was like she had scored the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl. I heard cheering and applause and almost stood up because I thought everyone was cheering for her. I don't know if what I heard was my own pure happiness and joy for her or if God's angels were rejoicing. Either way, it was an experience that has changed my life.

Sean Telljohann

My family all had a wonderful time at the reunion. It was the first time we were able to stay the whole week and are so thankful we did. Our entire family, as you have seen, were blessed to be at the reunion. The Lord was noticeably present in nearly every class, service, and activity. The Lord spoke directly to the congregation in a prayer service and through His priesthood all week.

Krista Telljohann, wife of Sean,

I had an amazing time at the reunion. I am going to be honest, as I did not want to go at all, but it was the best thing I have ever done. During the week, I had a feeling and was impressed to get baptized. I had been baptized into the Catholic church as a baby, but am happy to be a part of this church now. Even though we did not have the "comforts of home," I did not want to leave.

Brenda Telljohann

In preparation for the reunion, there were many things I had prayed for and almost all were answered. God blessed us all abundantly. The camp started out on a high spiritual level due to the preparation of the people. We went to reunion with the desire of receiving a blessing and we received many. I had the incredible experience of holding an angel's hand during a service and this was confirmed to me when Mosiah Cottrill's testimony of holding Jesus' hand was shared. I really enjoyed the humbleness of each person at the reunion. I was completely engaged in the sermons each night, as they spoke of repenting, charity, friendships, kindness toward others, and so forth. My children had a wonderful time as well. This was the highlight of their year and they can't wait to fellowship with the Saints again.

the TRUTH of ALL Things -
From the House of Bread.

Arthur A. Oakman
September 6, 1967

The spiritual world, then, is realized by faith --
faith "sees" those things which are hidden from the
"unbelievers." Note the following:

And as sure as Christ liveth, He spake these words
unto our fathers, saying, Whatsoever thing ye shall
ask the Father in my name, which is good,
in faith believing that ye shall receive,
behold it shall be done unto you. Wherefore,
my beloved brethren, hath miracles ceased,
because Christ hath ascended into heaven,
and hath sat down on the right hand of God,
to claim of the Father His rights of mercy
which He hath upon the children of men;
For He hath answered the ends of the law, and
He claimeth all those who have faith in Him;
and they who have faith in Him, will cleave
unto every good thing; wherefore He advocateth the
cause of the children of men; and He dwelleth
eternally in the heavens? And because He hath
done this, my beloved brethren, hath miracles ceased?
Behold, I say unto you, Nay; neither have angels
ceased to minister unto the children of men.
For behold, they are subject unto Him, to minister
according to the word of His command, shewing themselves
unto them of strong faith and a firm mind,
in every form of godliness.
-- Moroni 7: 26 - 31

It is not here proposed to develop a "philosophy of angels,"
Philosophy itself, apart from the Christian revelation, knows
nothing of them. Certainly the logical positivists cannot
comprehend angelic ministry since they accept nothing
impalpable or not verifiable through sense experience.

Faith enables us to enter into the spiritual world above us,
to commune with "the church of the firstborn.• We do not enter
those realms either factually or logically. We may infer that
such a spiritual world exists -- "all things" may "denote"
there is a God, but it is only as we "leap" or are
"quickened" by the Spirit and the eye of faith is opened
to the light that we become aware of the existence of that world,
and the invitation it imparts for all to enter.

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened
in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it
were of a trumpet talking with me; which said,
Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must
be hereafter. -- Relevelat1on 4:1.

John was "in the spirit" and as he looked he saw a
"door opened" and heard the invitation to
"Come up higher." Christ is the Door.

He issues the invitation. It is through Him we enter and
by Him we hear when He addresses us. In Him the
spiritual world reached down, invested and informed the temporal,
giving man power thus to be drawn into the timeless
communion of saints. This the writer to the Hebrews
seeks to impress on the church.

But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the
city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem,
and to an innumerable company of angels,
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all,
and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Hebrews 12: 22,23

comments and the remains of the day:

On this last day of 2017, a year in which history
may well report of the most unlikely and improbable
events have occurred in this nation, a review
and assessment and "examination" of self as well
as the spiritual condition of what the church
on earth certainly is, is in order and necessary;
especially if we are to accede to the call
of the Good Spirit: "Come up thither".
For both individually and as
a; what word?; group, body, church, gathering,
people of God, people of Faith, faction, fraction -
what word would you insert here? or perhaps a more
accurate and truthful word would be:
a people peeled and scattered. Is it not written:
"Ye were also in the beginning with the Father;
that which is Spirit, even the Spirit of truth; and
truth is knowledge of things as they are,
and as they were, and as they are to come; and
whatsoever is more or less than this, is the
spirit of that wicked one, who was
a liar from the beginning."
Doctrine and Covenants 90:4b

For as long "all of us" continue in the varieties
of paths and of doctrines and of what is
acceptable and what is not, as long as all they who
occupy high places in every
group (CRE, COC, POZ, JCRB, Remnant, LDS, and
whatever all other "ites" exist), body, church,
gathering, faction, fraction, stripe of every kind;
as long as they who lead their "sheep" beside anything
other than still waters reside; the cause
of Zion shall not move forward to the Lord's expectation.
And that is scripture and these are written all throughout
the Word of God.

While it yet day, and in the light of day and in the light
of Jesus Christ, Jesus has said and continues to say"
"Repent, and I will receive you."

For the Lord hath said:
"For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee
of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee
an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after."
Jeremiah 30:17

I choose to continue to seek for and seek for and call for and
declare of and declare for the cause of Zion, Enoch's city who
God received unto Himself. I choose to stand upon the
promises of God. While the "they" who continue to cast away
the many who seek after this Zion, I and my house will:
"Choose ye this day, ... as for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord." For Jesus has restored my soul,
He has brought forth the Balm of Gilead when so many of the
elites would only seek to and continue to "wound."

To both Jew and elites and many of "the church" :
"Then shall the arm of the Lord fall upon the nations,
and then shall the Lord set his foot upon this mount,
and it shall cleave in twain, and the earth shall tremble
and reel to and fro;
and the heavens also shall shake, and the Lord shall utter
his voice and all the ends of the earth shall hear it,
and the nations of the earth shall mourn,
and they that have laughed shall see their folly, and
calamity shall cover the mocker, and the scorner shall
be consumed, and they that have watched for iniquity,
shall be hewn down and cast into the fire.
And then shall the Jews look upon me and say, What are these
wounds in thy hands, and in thy feet?
Then shall they know that I am the Lord; for I will say unto them,
These wounds are the wounds with which I was wounded in the
house of my friends.
I am he who was lifted up. I am Jesus that was crucified.
I am the Son of God.
And then shall they weep because of their iniquities; then shall
they lament because they persecuted their King."

My prayer is that the elites and the many of the church
are NOT past the ability to weep.

And for all they who remain and make every effort and attempt
to seek the Zion of our God and establish His righteousness:
"And in them shall be written my gospel, saith the Lamb,
and my rock and my salvation;
And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth
my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift
and the power of the Holy Ghost;
And if they endure unto the end, they shall be lifted up at
the last day, and shall be saved in the
everlasting kingdom of the Lamb;
And whoso shall publish peace, yea, tidings of great joy,
how beautiful upon the mountains shall they be."

Francis Harper - Message for 12/29/2017

From: Francis Harper

Francis Harper - Message for 12/29/2017

Dear Ones,

As we enter another New Year, I think of the words written of Abraham: “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went” (Hebrews 11:8). As we enter 2018, we also, with faith, go forth, not knowing what we may encounter.

We who are older in years who have faced many of the perils, obstacles and vicissitudes of life can assure those who are younger that God can be trusted.

He is indeed the Good Shepherd of which David wrote in Psalms 23: “The Lord is my [a personal God] shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. What assurance need we more? “God is ever true and kind.” Brethren, Breathe One Fervent Prayer,” Hymns of the Restoration, #51.

We need to “Hear Him”, not only once, or once in a while, but hear him daily, in every phase and aspect of our lives. Hear his words from the pages of the scripture: “Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.” (2 Nephi 13:30). “…Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do” (2 Nephi 14:4).

Hear Him, for the improvement of your spirit and mind. Hear Him for the salvation of your soul. Hear Him in all your choices, your career, your marriage… “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that [who] giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not [will not scold or criticize]; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering; for he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed… let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord” (James 1:5-7).

“Counsel [with] the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good: Yea, when thou liest down at night, lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning, let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day” (Alma 17:69-70).

I recall Arthur Oakman saying, “You do not need to go down to Egypt [the world] to get your corn [your answers, your supply]”. The answers we get from the world are not always in harmony with God’s wisdom and will.

When I had completed my tour of duty with the US Army it was discovered, on an inventory, that some blankets and barracks bags were missing, valued at $3,000. I was counseled to make up these shortages by taking pieces of these articles to the salvage officer and receiving new and undamaged ones. I could not in good conscience do this! We prayed. After praying, I sat down to read my Bible. It immediately opened to Psalm 1 which begins with, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly…” I knew the Lord was speaking directly to me. A few days later several bales of blankets and barracks bags were found that had been missed when the inventory was taken.

Love and Prayers for a blessed New Year for each of you,
Francis Harper

It has been said, our needs are twofold. We need to know the direction we need to go and how to get there. God has given us the instructions we need to follow, but from the days of Adam we have refused to follow them! “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12).

God introduced his Son, Jesus Christ on several occasions and ended these introductions with the words “Hear Him” or “Hear ye Him” (Matthew 3:46 I.V.; Matthew 17:4 I.V.; 17:5 KJV, III Nephi 5:8; History of the Church, Vol. 1, page 9). “Hear Him” is a commandment. But in spite of the repetition of this commandment, or counsel, by our Father in heaven, most often we do not heed it and we suffer.

Jesus spoke very simply and plainly, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). The Hindu’s feel that people of all religions will reach heaven but by different paths. This does not agree with the teaching of Jesus. The teaching that Jesus is the only way to the Father is not a politically correct doctrine, but Jesus was not influenced by the doctrine of political correctness, nor should we.

Jesus did not support the wishful thinking and doctrines of the Pharisees and Sadducees. He said, “Take heed and beware of the leaven [doctrine] of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.” (Matthew 16:7). The Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection or in any future state for man. Peter said to Jesus: “Thou hast the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). Jesus was [is] the only true source of knowledge on life after death; Hear Him.

Jesus said to Pilate: “To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice” (John 18:37). Every true seeker for truth will listen to Jesus; will “Hear Him”. Pilate asked the right question, “What is truth?” But he, like the vast majority in the world today, was not interested enough to take time to listen! What a fatal mistake!

Why should we listen to Jesus? What were his credentials? Was he taught by Gamaliel, or some other famous teacher? “Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself” (John 7:14-17). As is often said, “the proof is in the pudding”. “Oh, taste and see…” (Psalm 34:8). “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth” (Psalms 119:103).

“And they were astonished at his doctrine; for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes” (Mark 1:20). With Jesus there were no phrases such as “I think” or “I believe”. It was “yea, verily, I say”, or “Verily, verily, I say”.

The words of Jesus were [are] supported by his deeds. Nicodemus said to Jesus, “Rabbi [master] we know that thou are a teacher come from God; for no man can do these miracles which thou doest, except God be with him” (John 3:2). “And the common [humble] people heard him gladly…” (Mark 12:44 I.V.; 12:37 KJV). This is still true today. God’s counsel is always the same: “Hear Him”.

Love and Prayers for a blessed New Year for each of you,
Francis Harper

From our friends in Texas. Jeff Hampton baptized my daughter Emily.
I'd like to ask for prayers and good thoughts for my beautiful wife, Theresa Harbaugh Hampton. Two weeks ago she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. The doctors are optimistic that she'll beat this, but it's still a scary situation anytime the big "C" is involved. We are firm believers in the power of prayer and know that God is in control. We have our faith and trust in Him.

CERT Training Starting

Dear Saints,

Janelle Bird, who is Administrative Specialist for the Independence Fire Department, sent me information about the next CERT(Community Emergency Response Team) training sessions starting January 3rd. I highly recommend and encourage all to take this course, so more people are prepared for emergencies, which can happen any day at any time, small and big.

I completed the course last September at Bruce’s insistence. Very worthwhile, life changing, humbling. It is sobering to face the hard fact that I was NOT prepared at all to handle any emergency. Just taking the course helped prepare me for “what ifs”. It also gave me a lot of hope to know that Independence has had CERT in place for several years, an organization that is ready to meet crises when they occur. CERT members were on the scene within in an hour after the tornado hit Oak Grove last spring. I can’t say enough about CERT and the training they provide. I’m so grateful we have them. And Janelle, one of our own Restoration believers, is a key player in the effort.

You can call the CERT office to sign up for the weekly classes at: 816-325-7168

And you can reach Janelle with any questions at:

Don’t put it off.

Always at your and God’s service,
Muriel Luedeman

Aircraft Partnership

------ Forwarded message ------
From: Bruce

Aircraft Partnership

I may have a Cessna 150F available for flight student (co-owner) partnerships. There will be a maximum of 4 shares with a possibility of a fifth. Share price is approximately $7,000 each; maybe less depending on avionic upgrades. Share price does not include the price of flight training. If you choose, when your flight training is complete, you can sell your share for whatever the market price is at the time. The aircraft was manufactured in the mid 1960’s. It is a two seat trainer type aircraft. The aircraft is suitable for “visual flight rules” training and the final FAA check ride for the Private Pilot’s credential.

If interested reply back to me for further details.

Francis Harper Message for 12/22/17

From: Francis Harper

Francis Harper Message for 12/22/17

Dear Ones,

Making room for Jesus, is a challenge for all of us, even as it was for the foolish virgins in Matthew 25. They had failed to establish an intimate relationship with the Bridegroom, Jesus. He said, “Ye know me not” (Matthew 25:11 I.V.); “Verily I say unto you, I know you not” (Matthew 25:12 KJV). “And the door was shut”! How tragic!

Above all the other things that take our time and attention, we must make room for Jesus, and His agenda. We must take time for daily prayer; speaking to the Lord, hearing Him, and responding to His will in our lives must become a daily regimen, like brushing our teeth and combing our hair. Studying; meditating and feasting upon His word must not be neglected. If we allot time for these most important things, some of the things of lesser importance will need to be eliminated. It is a matter of priorities.

The foolish virgins were caught without oil [the Holy Spirit] in their lamps. According to the words of the Lord to Nicodemus, the Holy Spirit is an absolute necessity to enter His kingdom. “Verily, verily, [truly, truly] I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water [baptism], and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5).

We must have the Holy Spirit within us [the incarnation] to transform us from the carnal, “earthly, sensual, devilish” (James 3:15), beings we are, into the Christ-like persons we are designed to be. “For the natural man is an enemy to God…but if [unless] he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man, and becometh a saint” (Mosiah 1:119-120).

Paul wrote: “…the carnal mind is enmity to God,… Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his…And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken [enliven] your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you” (Romans 8:7-11).

Without the Holy Spirit within us, we are spiritually dead. Have you ever seen a dead man walking? It is possible! When we partake of the bread and wine it is symbolic of the incarnation, making room for Jesus in our lives. Jesus said: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh [bread] of the Son of Man, and drink his blood [wine], ye have no life in you… He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him” (John 6:53-56).

The Holy Spirit within us is the powerful ally we must have to overcome all that keeps us from loving God and neighbor as we should. Many of us have experienced temporary moments in our lives when the Holy Spirit has touched our hearts with celestial love; the pure love of Christ. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will become a permanent resident within us. Being filled with the Holy Spirit should be our most earnest prayer. See 3 Nephi 9:10.

A missionary team in South Africa labored for 20 years with very little success in saving souls and changing lives. Finally in desperation they went to a little shed where they studied and prayed as the saints of the first century. And the Holy Spirit came as at Pentecost. They said, “After the Holy Spirit came, more was accomplished in a few days than had previously been done in twenty years!”

The indispensable presence and power of the Holy Ghost will be within the hearts and lives of the sons and daughters of God when Jesus returns with Zion. Being with the saints at the time of the Lord’s coming should be our highest aspiration.

Merry Christmas to All,
Francis Harper

Making Room for Jesus

There were no vacancies for the poor couple from Nazareth. “Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?” (John 1:46). Why make room for such common, ignorant, unknown people? Perhaps Joseph was already acquainted with the pain of rejection. The Son of God was “despised and rejected of men” (Isaiah 53:3), even before his birth. “There was none to give room for them in the inns” (Luke 2:7 I.V.). Is it any different today? Is there any room for Jesus? “Let earth receive her King; let every heart prepare him room” (Joy to the World, Hymns of the Restoration 116).

The Incarnation is the most significant principle in the world. Jesus was called Emmanuel. “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call him Emmanuel, (which being interpreted is, God with us)” (Matthew 1:23 KJV; 2:6 I.V.). Jesus was God in the flesh; this is incarnation: the union of divinity with humanity.

Jesus was speaking of his incarnation when he chided Philip for not understanding this most important principle. Philip asked: “…Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth [will satisfy] us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself; but the Father that dwelleth in me…” (John 14:8-10).

The principle of incarnation, exemplified in the life of Jesus, should also be seen in our own. Jesus prayed “…as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me… I in them, and thou in me,… (John 17:21-23).

Paul was referring to the principle of incarnation when he wrote: “…Christ in you, the hope of glory;” (Colossians 1:27). You may be asking, even as Mary asked the angel; “How can this be? And the angel answered and said unto her, Of the Holy Ghost, and the power of the Highest” (Luke 1:34-35).

Those who are filled with the Holy Ghost will be one with God and each other. “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul; neither said any of them that aught of the things which he possessed was his own… neither was there any among them that lacked;…” (Acts 4:31-34).

It is written: “ye shall be holy; for I the Lord your God am holy” (Leviticus 19:2, 1 Peter 1:15). John wrote: “…we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him;…” (1 John 3:2). Jesus asked: “Therefore what manner of man ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, Even as I am” (3 Nephi 13:5). Holiness is nothing less than oneness with God, which we can have in a moment when we are in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord is anxious to fill us with his Holy Spirit but none will be filled against their will. The incarnation must become a reality in our lives. Without the incarnation of his Holy Spirit we are spiritually dead. “Oh Holy child of Bethlehem, descend to us to us we pray; cast out our sin and enter in…be born in us today…O come to us, abide with us, our Lord, Immanuel” (O Little Town of Bethlehem, Hymns of the Restoration, 113).

Remove the No Vacancy sign. Hang out the Welcome sign. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all” (Revelation 22:20-21).

Donations to meet Widow's Transportation need

Dear, Saints,

A Temple Lot Prayer Group that has been meeting daily for two years, has adopted a Black family in dire straits.

Funds are needed to purchase a car for the widowed mother with seven children, who has a new job but no transportation to and from.

A viable 2002 Buick Century, 120k miles, is available for $500. It has $125 worth of repairs to get it in good shape. Taxes, inspection, license, and the first six months of insurance will bring the total bill to about $1000.

Donations are greatly appreciated. Checks may be made to Gary Metzger, and given to Muriel Luedeman, 816-726-8425,, 620 S Main Street, Independence MO 64050.

Homes for the Dogs

I need to find a new GOOD and LOVING home for my furry children.

I recently found out that I am losing my job at the end of the year due to downsizing. I have accepted a position with another Company, however, it requires me to travel extensively. I could possibly be gone for up to 10 weeks at a time or more. I have nobody to care for them for that long.

Karma is a Chocolate Lab. She is 12 years old, and very loving. She loves to cuddle.

Otto is a Pit Bull mix, he’s 4 years old, but is basically a big wimp. He is afraid of lightning, thunder, gunshots and fireworks. I do have a Thunder shirt for him that really helps. I apply a little lavender oil on it and it helps keep him calm.

They both love to play and are great with children and other animals. They haven’t been exposed to cats, so I don’t know what the reaction would be. They love to play ball in the yard and are active.

They have been each other’s companion for the past 4 years and need to be adopted together. They are indoor dogs and, yes, they are spoiled rotten. They love their treats! I do have wireless distance restriction collars on them as they both love to explore and greet others, and would be included in adoption. It helps keep them in the yard.

I need to find a home for them by the New Year. If you are interested in taking them, or know someone that is, please call Phil Miller at 515-528-4254.

I have a couple of boxes of treats and food, as well as their toys. GOOD LOVING HOME ONLY!!!

A Need at Christmas - Diapers

A Need at Christmas - Diapers

Dear Saints,

Over two years ago a small group of saints started daily morning prayers on the Temple Lot, praying for the Kingdom to come, our work in it, the gathering of Israel, and all the walls that separate God’s people be removed. During cold weather we meet at Julie and Hugh Caldwell’s house. God is faithful and has heard our prayers, opening many doors for ministry.

One of the paths of ministry that is developing is the old Second Church on South Avenue, which is now the combined home of two Restoration branches - Restoration Church of Jesus Christ - Central Church, and Gospel Park. Last month, priesthood men, Hugh Caldwell and Kent Pedersen, started knocking on doors in the area around the church to introduce themselves and seeking to help with neighborhood needs. On the first day out, mid-November, Hugh knocked on the door of a widow with seven children, ages 9 months to 17 years. Ladonna Mason talked to Hugh on the front porch and was hesitant to open up at first, saying she was doing alright, but as Hugh and Kent continued to visit with her, they learned she was in great need. Finally she said she could use help paying her utilities. She had lost her night job when she had to sell her car to pay a utility bill. Over the next few days we learned the gas had been turned off, her washing machine was broken, there was no money for formula or food at the end of the month, a house inspection was coming up, and she had no vacuum or cleaning supplies.

Since then, as they prayed with Ladonna and for her, her needs are being met. She starts training for a new job next week, with transportation arranged until she can afford another car. She has signed up with the Neighborhood Network program in her area, which will provide food and other social support and life skills ed. A washing machine and new vacuum was provided her.

Her kids were saying they want to go to church before the elders came to her door, so she has been looking for a place to attend. Central/Gospel Park is a block from her house. The family, including Reuben, Ladonna’s friend, has been attending since the men stopped at her home. Ladonna and Reuben are also coming on Saturdays to the daily prayer circle at the Caldwell’s. They are not familiar with the Restoration at all, and find it a different culture, but they are grateful for the Saints generosity, and happy with what they are learning about the Book of Mormon and the Gospel. Ladonna said God had been working on her in various ways over the past several months, preparing her for a new path, and she feels this is an answer to her prayers. As she and Reuben have been blessed, they want to be a blessing to others. We have assurance that they will be just that as we expand the ministry in the neighborhood on South Avenue, one family at a time.

A luminaria lighting on South Main Street is being planned for Christmas Eve, with warm drinks and snacks afterward, tentatively at Central/Gospel Park. There is a need we would like to supply for Ladonna that night. Diapers – size 2T pullups for her two-year-old daughter, and Size 5 or (King), for her 9 month-old son. Central/Gospel Park has collected funds for Christmas gifts for the family, but this need would greatly relieve the mother’s mind for a good while.

As the Spirit leads, if you can, or know someone else who is willing, to provide diapers for this mother in need, it would be greatly appreciated. And please pray for Ladonna Mason, Reuben, and her children, Ivy, Raymond, Edante, Myonna, Niesha, Blessing, and King as they move into this new path.

Francis Harper Message for 12/15/17

From: Francis Harper

Francis Harper Message for 12/15/17

Dear Ones,

In spite of all the turmoil and tragedy and lack of peace and tranquility in the world, and even in our own neighborhoods, we can experience peace in our heart, mind and souls. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

During World War II, a young mother called her minister telling him of her worries. Her husband was serving in the armed forces. The minister asked if she had any children. She had a baby girl. “Is she worried and afraid?” the minister asked. “No, she is sleeping peacefully in my arms.” The pastor reminded the young woman that she had a Father in heaven who watches over all those who trust in Him. The Heavenly Father is our refuge, and “underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).

David had learned that the Lord is a good shepherd. He could confidently say: “yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4). Those who have an intimate relationship with the Lord, even as David, will have “the peace of God, which passes all understanding” (Philippians 4:7).

The situation and circumstances with which we are confronted in life, will have very little impact upon our peace and joy if we are rightly related to God. Two young women were held as captives in the notorious Evin prison in Teheran, Iran. They were being held because they had accepted Christ and had been baptized. After several months their situation seemed hopeless, yet they were “completely happy” in the most notorious prison, in the most oppressed nation, in the world. One said, “I have never felt more blessed. All alone in an underground prison cell, in an inner prison, we shared a glorious celebration of faith”. They were eventually released. Paul and Silas also prayed and sang praises to God in an inner prison with their feet fastened in stocks at midnight (Acts 16:25).

Jerusalem has been in the news recently. The God of peace chose Jerusalem, which means “city of peace”, as the place where the Jewish people will return to worship Him. It is probably the best known and most fought over city in the world. The Jewish people cherish it. The Muslims want to take it. The United Nations wants to divide it. Nations are willing to go to war over it.

December 6, 2017, is a day that will be recorded in history. On that day, President Donald Trump, proclaimed Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. This proclamation answered the prophetic prayer offered by Orson Hyde on October 24, 1841. He wrote: “a good while before day, I arose from sleep and went out of the city as soon as the gates were opened, crossed the brook Cedron, and went upon The Mount of Olives, and there in solemn silence, with pen, ink, and paper, just as I saw in the vision, offered up the following prayer to Him who lives forever and ever” [only excerpts of the prayer are included here]: “…O Lord, remove the barrenness of this land,…let the land become abundantly fruitful when it is possessed by its rightful heirs… ‘Let them come like clouds and doves to their windows’ (Isaiah 60:8)…Let them know that it is thy good pleasure to restore the kingdom unto Israel, raise up Jerusalem as its capital, and constitute her people a distinct nation and government, with David [Jesus, Son of David] thy servant, even a descendant from the loins of ancient David, to be their King.” [O’ may His coming not be delayed long!] (History of the Church, Volume 2, Pages 553-555).

After 176 years nearly all of this prophetic prayer has been answered. All that remains to be fulfilled is the coming of Him “whose right it is” to reign, even Jesus, the Son of David (Ezekiel 21:26-27).

Love to all,
Francis Harper

Peace on Earth

The angels who appeared to the shepherds in the fields of Bethlehem sang these words: "Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace; good will to men" (Luke 2:14).

Through the prophet Isaiah, God called this promised Son the "Prince of Peace". "And the government shall be upon his shoulder" and "of the increase of his government and peace there is no end" (Isaiah 9:6- 7).

In spite of a universal desire for peace the promises of peace found in the Scriptures have never been fulfilled. World - wide peace has never been known. Violence and bloodshed has been going on in this world since the beginning, when "Cain rose up against Abel and slew him. And the Lord said unto Cain, where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not; Am I my brother's keeper?" (Genesis 5:19 I. V.; 4:9 KJV) Since that day, even to the present, the violence and bloodshed has continued. We witness it in the daily news.

Multiplied billions have been spent, during multiple generations, in seeking for peace and yet it remains elusive. As it was said by Jeremiah they shall say "peace, peace; when there is no peace" (Jeremiah 6:14). "When they shall say, peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall notes cape" (1 Thessalonians 5:3). Is there no hope for peace and security in this world?; No way of escape from this age of terror?

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote the words of one of the beloved Christmas carols we sing that expresses the sentiments of many yet today. It is titled: "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day"

1 .I heard the bells on Christmas Day Their old familiar carols play, And wild and sweet the words repeat Of peace on earth, good will to men.

2. I thought how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along the unbroken song Of peace on earth, good will to men.

3. And in despair I bowed my head; "There is no peace on earth," I said, "For hate is strong and mocks the song Of peace on earth, good will to men"

4. Then pealed the bells more loud and deep, " God is not dead, nor doth he sleep; The wrong shall fail, the right prevail, With peace on earth, good will to men."

Yes, there is hope! " Hope spring s eternal in the human breast" (Alexander Pope), but beyond this there is hope based upon truth and reality. Jesus came just as it had been prophesied. He is coming again just as it has been prophesied. God keeps his promises. He always has. He always will.

The prophecies of never - ending peace will be fulfilled when Jesus returns to reign as the "King of king's and Lord of lords" (Revelations 17:14). He shall overcome Satan and all who oppose His kingdom of righteousness and peace. Then the long sought - for peace will come.

"And he [Jesus] shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people; and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning - hooks; nations shall not lift up sword [nor their ICBM's] against nation, neither shall they learn war any more" (Isaiah 2:4).

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" (Isaiah 11:6,9).

CPRS could be the right place for you!

From: Center Place Restoration School

CPRS could be the right place for you!

Can I afford a private school education?

With tuition rates among the lowest in the Kansas City metro area, CPRS offers three financial aid programs to assist families, including opportunities to volunteer or tuition reductions. These programs depend on the needs and qualifications of the family.

Is CPRS really right for all ages?

CPRS is a family school with a unique atmosphere that offers students of different ages, from kindergarten through high school, the chance to work and play together in a safe and cooperative environment. Lifelong friendships are often fostered through interaction and involvement in our school events and activities. Many of our families enjoy the convenience of having all their students at one central location.

What about the extracurricular opportunities they’ll miss?

Since CPRS is a small school with a close student-teacher ratio, students may participate in extracurricular activities. We offer a surprisingly wide variety of opportunities including athletics, stage performance, robotics club, student government, and our service club.

Will my children be academically prepared for the future?

Academic opportunities offer our students a wide variety of courses. Language arts, math, science, and social studies are emphasized. In addition to these core subjects, elementary specials include Spanish, music, art, P.E., and computers. In middle school, students add study skills and careers courses to their coursework. High school level courses branch out to include standard studies as well as college preparatory material in areas of language arts, science, and math. We offer 58 different classes on the high school level to accommodate a variety of academic abilities and interests.

Can my child still earn scholarships by graduating from CPRS?

CPRS students taking the ACT test have outperformed at the national and state level for 20 of the last 23 years. Those who choose to enter the work force immediately after high school find themselves well-prepared. Most of our students go on to higher education, whether at 4-year colleges, community colleges, or trade/technical school. Our graduates qualify for a wide variety of scholarships and financial opportunities.

And He Shall Send Jesus - Francis Harper

From: Francis Harper

Weekly Message 12/8/2017
And He Shall Send Jesus

Dear Ones,

Most of us recall the terror of the pop quiz we experienced during our years in school. They were given at the whim of our teachers and always seemed to be given at the most inopportune times. We soon learned that we needed to be in a constant state of readiness for these tests. Similarly, we need to be in a constant state of readiness for the Lord’s Second Coming. “Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh” (Matthew 24:51 IV; 24:44 KJV).

The wise virgins were ready when the Bridegroom came. “And they that were ready went in with him to the marriage; and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins [the foolish], saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, verily I say unto you, ye know me not.” Watch, therefore; for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh” (Matthew 25:9-12 IV; 25: 10-13 KJV).

Other scriptures that emphasize the exact timing of the coming of the Lord as being unknown, and a surprise, are these: “But of that day and hour no one knoweth; no, not the angels of God in heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24: 43 IV; 24:36 KJV). “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night . . . (2 Peter 3:10). “Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me; and the Lord whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in; behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts” (Malachi 3:1).

Jesus taught that although his elect would not know the day nor the hour of his coming, they would know when his coming is near. He said, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree [The fig tree symbolizes Israel]: when its branches are yet tender, and it begins to put forth leaves [May 14, 1948, Israel became a nation], ye know that summer is nigh at hand. So likewise mine elect, when they see all these things [signs such as are given by the Lord in Matthew 24, Luke 17 and Luke 21], they shall know that he is near, even at the doors” (Matthew 24:42 IV; 24:33 KJV).

The Lord will select those who are worthy to come forth in the First Resurrection. Those of the First Resurrection will live with the Lord during his millennial reign of a thousand years. The doors or gates will be closed at the time of his coming. Many who expect to be within the gate may find themselves locked out when Jesus comes, as were the five foolish virgins. How tragic this will be!

Imagine, you are in your car driving home. Your thoughts are on the game you want to watch and the meal you will eat. Then suddenly, a sight unlike any you have ever seen fills the sky. So you pull over and get out of your car. As you do, you see you are not the only curious one. The roadside has become a parking lot! What you see has never been seen since it was seen by the shepherds nearly two thousand years ago, “A multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace; good will to men” (Luke 2:13-14). Suddenly all is quiet and there He is, Jesus has come again! All are standing or kneeling in profound reverence. Forget stock markets, sales meetings and football games. Most of the things that mattered before, matter no more. For Jesus Christ has come!

Love to all,

Francis Harper

And He Shall Send Jesus

Shortly after the great day of Pentecost and the miraculous healing of the “man lame from his mother’s womb” (Acts 3:3-10), Peter preached, “Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you, whom ye have crucified; whom the heavens must receive until the times of restitution [restoration] of all things which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began” (Acts3:19-21).

Peter continued by reminding his audience of the prophetic words of Moses: “For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A Prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren [of Judah], like unto me [like Moses—I have counted 33 similarities in comparing Moses and Jesus]; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that Prophet shall be destroyed from among the people” (Acts 3:22-23). If Peter was with us today, his message would quite likely be the same, or very similar.

In Peter’s second letter to the saints, he warned: “Knowing this first, that in the last days there shall come scoffers, walking after their own lusts. Denying the Lord Jesus Christ, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the father’s fell asleep [in death], all things . . . have continued as they are from the beginning of creation. For this they willingly are ignorant. . . [that] by the word of God the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished . . . [God speaks and it is done!] But concerning the coming of the Lord, beloved, I would not have you ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter3:3-8).

We have waited two days [two thousand years], for the return of Jesus. We are living at the dawning of the third day. Jesus warned the twelve: “And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him; and the third day he shall rise again.” (Mark 10:34). He was speaking of his resurrection from the dead. But why was he resurrected at the dawning of the third day? It is likely that his resurrection early on the third day was intended to be a type and shadow of his return and the resurrection of the saints.

Jesus chastened two of his disciples as they were walking toward the village of Emmaus, “O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things The Third Day concerning himself” (Luke 24:24,26). The Lord expects us to know and believe all that the prophets have spoken. The Lord said to Moses, “Go unto the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow [two days] and be ready against the third day; for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people . . .” (Exodus 19:10-11). Hosea prophesied: “After two days will he [he will] revive [resurrect] us; in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight” (Hosea 6:2).

He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord will wipe away all tears . . . And it shall be said in that day, lo, this is our God: we have waited for him, and he will save us . . . thy dead men shall live together with my dead body shall they arise . . . And the earth shall cast out the dead” (Isaiah 25:89, 26:19).

Sarah Saylor's Gofundme Page

From Tim Saylor
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Let His will be done.

November 14, 2016, Sarah went to the ER with really bad headaches with nausea. She was 34 weeks pregnant. Two days later Sarah had a crainiotomy (brain surgery) to remove her tumor. It ended up being malignant. Baby girl was born healthy 6 weeks later. Sarah started treatment of the tumor shortly after. We stopped treatment to go a natural route. Chemo and radiation don't cure, they just treat the growth of the tumor. Sarah detoxed for two weeks and changed her diet to mostly vegetarian with no refined sugar or flour. Fast forward to now. Sarah started having intense headaches again. We quickly went to ER and they did a CT scan that showed possible growth that was confirmed with an MRI. This tumor is causing swelling in her brain and causing pressure on her brain stem. Sarah has health insurance. She doesn't have life insurance. I am not saying she is going to die, but not having to worry about bills while she recovers and being able to take care of our two daughters without that worry is the reason for this fund. God has carried us this far, and He will continue to be with us.

Sarah is stable enough that we are out of the ICU. She is still in quite a bit of pain. Focusing on interactions or even eating are causing her pain and heart rate to spike. So she is just resting and sleeping.
