Ray Treat update

from his friend, Shirley Heater.

I wanted to give you an update on Ray Treat as I have been in close contact with the family and will see him again today. He had four bypasses Monday which was anticipated to take six hours, but only actually took four. That was a blessing that everything went smoothly. Since the surgery he has been in ICU, he is now alert, but still in pain. When I got your prayer request this morning, I called Jean, his wife, to confirm if something might have happened overnight. I was relieved to learn that he had NOT suffered a stroke. In fact, they will be moving him out of ICU today. So this is good news! If you would please forward this information to your prayer list, I know all the prayers are very much appreciated. We are praying for his continued improvement.

Email Missouri Governor Nixon

I am sending this, hoping you will email Governor Nixon to sign the recently passed legislation on needed gun law reforms. I encourage all to read the short NRA piece below. I support this bill and here is why.

House Bill #294, gives law abiding citizens the gun reforms they need to protect themselves against an advancing, violent, criminal element in this state and country. Criminals don't pay attention to gun laws and manage to obtain the weapons and ammunition they "need" to do their "jobs". Criminals love gun control; it makes their jobs safer. Missouri citizens should have the same advantage and greater, if they choose to do so, to protect themselves and their families.
One doesn’t have to feel he needs to carry a gun, or even like guns, but it is comforting to know that there are those in our midst who do carry and know how to use a weapon if necessary. Thugs don’t know who “packs” and who doesn’t. Because of that fact, they are not as likely to carry on their wickedness. We are all safer.

Please consider these two facts. 1. When you are face to face with an assailant, the police are only a few minutes away. 2. Gun free zones are open invitations to anyone with wicked ideas. If there had been guns allowed on campus at Virginia Tech, the outcome might have been far different.

HB 294 overwhelmingly passed both the Missouri House and Senate on May 13th, following the desires of Missouri constituents. Governor Nixon has 45 days to sign it and as of this date has chosen not to do so. He has until July 9th. Not signing will be a flagrant disregard of the will of the people of this state he has vowed to serve.

Please email Governor Nixon and respectfully ask him to sign HB 294 at:

Contractor Opportunity

Please distribute this message as appropriate. While this is outside my area of expertise I have had several church friends call and ask me about contractor/debris removal opportunities in Joplin, Missouri. This information may point them and others in the trades in the right direction. Sorry if this is not the email address you are using to receive information.

“For those of you who have contacted me concerning contracting opportunities in Joplin, Missouri that is outside of my area of influence. However I have done some research and a main point of hire you can register with for construction/ rebuild opportunities in Joplin is the US Army Corp of Engineers. The registration web site is: What I have “heard” that is needed at the moment is heavy equipment and large trucks for debris removal and demolition, general building trades, and companies with skills in air, soils, or water testing and environmental remediation. Someone with any kind of hazmat certification (including truckers) may have some opportunities in the Joplin area.

Beware of a scam we are seeing aimed at trades type businesses where a company, for a fee (usually around $500.), will register you with the Corp of Engineers. Registration is free and very simple to do.

If your company does find work in Joplin, either through the Corp or Engineers or directly via a property owner, you must obtain a Joplin Business License. To do that call the Joplin Finance Department at (417) 624-0820 ext. 242. I believe the cost is minimal and a business license in or on your work vehicle shows you are legitimate and not a looter. Rumor has it that looters are not being treated in a Christian manner by the locals.

There are grocery stores open and lots of places to eat. Lodging is a problem. The closest hotel I could find for a long term stay was Bentonville, Arkansas a 60 minute drive to the south of Joplin. God Bless and Best Wishes to all.”

Does the Bible Confuse You
About Diet & Health?
There are many scriptures about food in the Bible. Sadly they are often misquoted, misunderstood or purposely changed. The truth about what the Bible has to say about food will be revealed. It will set you free so we no longer have to suffer for our lack of understanding.
“Throughout the earth I am
giving you as food every seed-
bearing plant and every tree
with its seed-bearing fruit.
-Genesis 1:29
If the Biblcal diet message is clear...
Why all so much confusion?

truth and the truth
shall set you free!”
