Biblical Sodom and Gomorrah found !

The "Bible and Spade" Summer 1999 (Vol 12, No. 3) from the Associates for Biblical Research announces "The Discovery of the Sin Cities of Sodom and Gomorrah". The name of these two cities have long been by-words in our language for wickedness. And many scholars and archaeologists have long searched for the truth about these cities.

3 Scriptures Website

I am Scott Bingman. I have for some time been designing a serious study website for the three standard books linked to the reference materials and history surrounding them.

Welcome to =

Understanding the Scriptures is about linking together the information dispersed throughout them. This website is designed to be a study reference for the Inspired Version of the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. The format arranges them into a quickly accessible and searchable format. It links references within the three standard books and is in the process of linking each word of the Bible to its Strong's Hebrew and Greek definition.
A Topical section links scriptural and historical information on many subjects. The links to information are brought together without bias, as much as possible, to assist study and individual determination.
A Reference section provides integrated reference materials, texts of original sources and historical information to add context and comment from the individuals involved. Future plans include additions of periodicals, journals, and new ways to collate and condense this information.
Although the texts of the materials presented are complete, the site is an incomplete and ongoing work, a framework for a much larger concept. It is undergoing formatting, linking, error correction, and addition of relevant material. Please check back to see improvements.

The materials available now include:

Old Testament being linked to Strong's Hebrew Dictionary. Strong's Hebrew Dictionary linked between definitions
New Testament being linked to Strong's Greek Dictionary. Greek New Testament being linked to Strong's Dictionary.

"Bear Aware" Camping Knowledge

Importance: High

Here is a good website for anyone hiking or camping ANYWHERE.

In Kansas and Missouri and or course Colorado, etc. we have Black Bears, Cougars and Rattlesnakes.

Black Bears and Cougars are predatory and should be fought aggressively – IF encountered. (We and neighbors at our place at the Ozarks have sited Cougars at least 4 different times in the three years within yards of our houses). Sadly, one of the neighbors daily feeds the deer, which only provides consistent food for the cougars; and he refuses to stop.)

We do have cougars in the K.C. area and black bears as well. The flooding along the missouri river is driving the bears out of their usual habitat.

Grizzly Bears are more in mountainous country – Mainly northwest.

The site below has lots of good info on how to be Bear/Cougar/snake aware.

#1 on your list if hiking ANYWHERE is to carry “Bear Spray” - in hand ready to use immediately. If an attack occurs, you won’t have time to pull it out and get ready to use. ($52 – and it’s different than regular pepper spray – so read the info on how to make sure you get the proper bear spray).

Little know fact: The average distance between a bear and human when a bear attack takes place is only 14 feet. The main reason for that is when people are hiking they (a) look mainly at the ground and each other and are not actively scanning for wildlife. (b) They are not making enough noise when they’re hiking or in wildlife area. If you’re making consistent loud / low-voice and clapping noises – the wildlife will usually retreat. Not always though, so always be on the lookout.

NEVER hike alone or in two’s. Three and up are the best groups and never straggle. Always keep together.

Another thing to note is that you have to react differently according to which bear type you meet. At very last resort with Grizzly you can play dead – although you have a much better chance if you have a back-pack on; it can protect your head when the bear picks you up from behind the head). NEVER play dead with a Black Bear or Cougar(Mountain Lion). Grizzly’s usually attack out of protectiveness, & warning. Black bears and Cougars are predatory – meaning their goal is to have you for dinner. Playing dead just makes their job easier.

Both Grizzly and Black bears come in colors from Blonde to Black. You have to know the other ways to identify them other than color.

Check out and learn the differences on the website.

There’s much, much more we NEED to know to hike wisely ANYWYERE – but it’s pretty much all on this site.

The only reason I’ve become so aware and quickly educating myself on this is because we were just at Yellowstone Park, and a guy was killed by a grizzly two days before we were there. He was on a popular and highly trafficked hiking trail and did almost everything that he should have, but the mother grizzly attacked anyway. He usually carried bear spray, but this time didn’t. The wife survived by playing dead and her backpack protected her head when the bear picked her up and dragged her a bit.

The locals seem to think that everyone that comes in the park is “Bear Aware” and didn’t understand why on earth he would hike their without bear spray. Geeze-Louise! I’m just finding out there IS such a thing as bear spray! They have signs all around saying “Be Bear Aware”, but no one ever explained what exactly that means. And as I’m finding out (AFTER our exit from the park), there’s a lot to it, and I’m realizing I’ve been quite naive over the years, even for hiking here at home.

This isn’t meant to scare any of us, just to ensure that we’re educated and prepared and I personally don’t plan to hike or camp in “bear country” at all, unless I’m with a nice-sized group. (preferably in the middle :)

Urgent prayers needed

Please pray for Terry Piatt (Gary's wife), David Burkhart and his oldest son, Joseph. They were involved in an accident at the Grand Canyon on Friday, July 22nd.. Terry's mule bolted as they were going down the trail and threw her off into the canyon. She has been recovered and life-flighted to a hospital in Utah, where she is in very critical condition--many broken bones and vertebrae, one lung filled with fluid.

David and Joseph were at the head of the procession with the guide. All three of them are missing, the sun has gone down, and they have not yet been located. It is not known what has happened to them.

Please remember their families as they anxiously await news of their loved ones.

My landlord is Lavon Stephens (South Crysler Restoration Branch). I rent side B of a duplex she owns in Grain Valley. Side A is for rent, since Lavon has moved out of it. Nice place, nice landlord. I am allergic to cigarette smoke, which usually seeps through walls of apartments. I need a neighbor that doesn't smoke, and a church member would be fantastic.

The Sacrament: Life or Death

by D. J. Williams

This story I am about to relate was experienced while I was possessed of my full conscious faculties and can not very well be termed visionary or subconscious musings. I cannot say that it was a kaleidoscopic projection, a mental aberration, an hallucination, or a physio-mental revelation; it was simply an experience.
I awoke and listened to the chimes striking on the clock downstairs, followed by the strokes of two, so that I know it was two o'clock in the morning. Immediately it seemed to me that I was transported to the church on Sewall Street in Somerville , Massachusetts , and I sat on the platform with a number of the brethren.
It was a sacrament meeting, and the auditorium of the church was filled; every seat was taken, and there were many standing. So it was apparently a greater gathering than the Boston Branch alone. I seemed to know everybody, and it appeared that everybody was in their accustomed place.
The preliminaries of the meeting were apparently over, for the presiding officer, (whoever he was, I cannot say, although I seemed to know full well) arose, and he made the shortest speech I have ever heard at the beginning of a sacrament service. Said he, pointing to the sacrament, "You who partake of this bread and wine worthily, will receive life. You who partake of this bread and wine unworthily, will receive death. You have your agency; choose for yourselves."
As he finished this speech and the elders arose to remove the covering from the sacrament, like the click of the dial on the radio I seemed to step out of my body and remove from it about two yards to the left. I could not see myself there but I knew that my conscious ego, spirit, or intelligence stood there outside and independent of my body; I could see my body still sitting on the chair.
As the covering was lifted from the sacrament, the walls of the building disappeared—and all other material obstruction to my vision—and I could see where the earth and sky met in all directions. Viewing this phenomenon, I raised my eyes and looked into the dome of the heavens. I saw a white cloud whose alabaster whiteness defies description. I have not the language to define it, so I will not try. This cloud seemed to be propelled in evolving gyrations down towards the earth, and it came down quite near to where the back right-hand corner of the church should be, but at this time was absent.
The church members knelt while the blessing was asked on the bread. (The same scene prevailed on the blessing of the wine, so we will describe one and it will do for both.) As soon as the "Amen" was pronounced, scintillations of light in beams or pencils shot out from this white cloud and rested on each piece of bread. As the elder passed the bread to the priest, the light shifted from the bread and rested on the head of the communicant, and when the priest served the elder the same phenomenon prevailed, and likewise throughout the whole congregation. As the light lifted to the head of the served, his or her countenance lighted up and a look of contentment settled over the features.
But there was a peculiar difference in the pencils of light as the people partook of the emblems: some remained constant and shifted to the head of the recipient; while others reduced in size, still centered on the head of the individual; other rays, as the member partook, withdrew and stood anywhere from a few inches to two feet away from the head of the communicant; and some rays, just as soon as the individual touched the bread, shot back or withdrew to within a few feet of the cloud. In such instances there was no lighting up of the countenance with joy, or expression of contentment; but in its place was sadness or no change whatsoever.
I noticed one particularly bright beam of light, outshining all the others in brilliance, that directed its shaft to the right forward section of seats. I was particularly anxious to see who this ray shone on. I apparently maneuvered to a position where I could behold the person, and I was somewhat astonished to see that it was a young child. I heard this voice: "Except you all become as little children, you can in no wise enter into the Kingdom of God ."
(Peculiar as it may seem, I knew everybody; and yet when I wanted to single out a particular incident, I was not able to distinguish the identity of anyone.)
The scene changed in a moment. The meeting was seemingly over, and the people were grouped in bunches, as is our custom, throughout the building. Four of these groups were particularly presented to my attentions the right-hand back corner of the church a group was laughing and telling jokes and displaying a careless, unconcerned condition; the voice said, "The death and suffering of Jesus Christ lies lightly on their conscience." And as I looked at the cloud, all the pencils of light had withdrawn from them.
In the right front section of the church was another group. One with a solemn face was telling a tale and shaking a finger, to which those who listened were nodding their heads in approval. And the voice said, "Unjust criticism and false suggestions make martyrs of the true and faithful." And as I looked at the cloud, all the pencils of light had withdrawn from them.
In the left front section was another group who were reviewing the acts of the sacrament procedure and talking in a Godly kind of fellowship. The voice said: "Peace and tranquillity are the heritage of the faithful." I looked at the cloud, and the scintillations of light were focused on the group in a perfect halo which surrounded the group, and their countenances were lit up with joy and intelligence.
Again the scene changed, and I saw the people who had just partaken of the sacrament of life go out from the building and mix with the world. The rays of light seemed to follow them, but only a few remained for any length of time. As the saints mixed with the people of the world, they slowly merged into the crowd and were lost to the peculiar designation that marked them as different.
As I looked, some of those very people who had partaken of the body and blood of Christ and had thereby promised to "always remember Him, and keep His commandments" were partaking of the corrupt things of the world; they were entering into every exercise and partaking of every vice that worldly ingenuity could devise. And I heard this voice: "Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."
But they did not come. Instead I saw them in questionable company, idling their time, blackmailing, lying, blaspheming, carousing, committing immoral acts and murder. I looked for the cloud. It had receded far, far up into the azure dome and had diminished to a mere speck in the sky. Still the scintillations denoted it the same white cloud, but its glory had withdrawn from the people.
Again the scene changed, and I found myself standing in the same place in the church. I could see my body, my physical clay, sitting in the chair as it had been in the beginning of the meeting. The walls had again come into place, and the priests were just coming down the aisle with the trays of empty wine glasses.
Again the president of the meeting arose and made this brief statement: "You who have partaken of this bread and wine worthily, have obtained life. You who have partaken of this bread and wine unworthily, have entered into death. You are your own judges, whether justified or condemned. You have used your agency; the consequences are yours."
I seemed to take two steps and entered into my body again. As I did so, I heard chimes of the clock downstairs. I listened and heard it strike four. For two hours I had been wrapped in this experience, and it seemed to be only a few minutes in duration.
I wonder if we sense that life and light come through the sacrament and that very few of the Church are able to hold the light and life for any great length of time after partaking? I wonder if we barter our chances of communion with God by mingling in things that the Spirit of God can not accompany us in?
Do we really appreciate the privilege and benefits of the sacrament, or are we like the first group, not sanctified any more by partaking than if we never partook; not even sensing the death and suffering of Christ for our salvation: careless and indifferent, neither good nor bad, but unusable?
Or are we like the second group: partake of the bread and wine - and it is only bread and wine to such, for it is not sacrament; it is custom. Immediately afterwards the tongue of scandal and the sting of hypocrisy devour and destroy the character of some innocent, unprotected member.
Or are we like the third group: self-centered, self-righteous, with anger if crossed, hatred if corrected; not touched by the spirit of the sacrament; murder in the heart through malice and an unrighteous spirit.
Or are we like the fourth group: made preparation by fasting and prayer, forgave all men as they hoped to be forgiven, tranquil to all people, thinking no evil of any member, having a soothing spirit by reason of grace reachieved; a peacemaker, and a true representative of the gospel of Christ, Who said, "By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one for another."
Which group is our choice? In which do we belong?

(Apparently the description of one group was not recorded by Brother Williams, or it was lost in retyping. But the meaning is still conveyed in the final paragraphs. -The Editors.)

Ancient stones a mystery for archeologists, scientists -

Your Houston News:

The Yuchis originally migrated from the Bahamas to Florida and Georgia and then later to the Oklahoma territory.

Every year in the fall, on the fifteenth day of the sacred month of harvest, the Yuchis make a pilgrimage and for eight days live in what are described as booths with open roofs. They celebrate a festival during this time.

The ancient Israelites had a custom very similar and also celebrated in the harvest season on the 15th day of the sacred month of harvest.

The unanswered question is “How can two totally separated peoples observe the identical question?

Another question that haunts scientists and Bible historians is:“Did Jesus in His early years visit the American continents?

After all, there was a period from about age 12 to age 30, years unaccounted for in the scriptures. So there is a possibility that Jesus did visit other continents during those years.

Several of the ancient tribes of the Americas have stories that tell of a white-skinned bearded man that came from heaven to earth.

Morris J. Heide - Experience

Experience on June 11, 2011 - Morris J. Heide

I was scheduled to preach at the grain Valley RLDS Congregation on June 12, 2011. I had been preparing for several weeks and had several thoughts and scriptures. On the morning of Saturday June 11, 2011 I got up early and began to try to put all the thoughts and scriptures together. I came to a point, after an hour or so, of feeling that I was going nowhere. I felt that what I had at that point could easily lead me in ten or so different directions.

So, I bowed my head in prayer, and immediately the Holy Ghost rushed over my entire being and I was filled with the Spirit from head to toe. At the same time the following words were given to me. I did not hear an audible voice, but I clearly had these words given to me in a clearness that I have never experienced before.

“I am coming soon, be ye ready for my return.”

I marveled at the clearness of the words and the message, but as soon as I had written these words down the following five phrases were given as well:

“Get your homes in order.”
“Be united.”
“Purge your hearts of iniquity; be clean and sanctified.”
“Cease to contend one with another on points of doctrine; reason together in love.”
“Priesthood; seek to fulfill that calling which is before you.”

Following this experience, I looked at the scriptures and thoughts that had been given to me earlier (which seemed to lead me in ten different directions) and found that these now fit perfectly with these five phrases which had been given.

I was also very specifically given Psalm 46 as the closing scripture to read.

God the refuge of his people.
(To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.)

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a present help in trouble.
:2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth shall be removed, and though the mountains shall be carried into the midst of the sea;
:3 And the waters thereof roar, being troubled, and the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
:4 Yet there shall be a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
:5 For Zion shall come, and God shall be in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God shall help her right early.
:6 The heathen shall be enraged, and their kingdoms shall be moved, and the Lord shall utter his voice, and the earth shall be melted.
:7 The Lord of hosts who shall be with us, the God of Jacob our refuge. Selah.
:8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he shall make in the earth in the latter days.
:9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire, and saith unto the nations,
:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
:11 The Lord of hosts shall be with us, the God of Jacob our refuge. Selah.

Milking the Osteoporosis Myth

This week we are going to tackle another physical problem affecting an ever increasing number of Americans.

Osteoporosis is a disorder in which the bones become increasingly porous, brittle, and subject to fracture, owing to loss of calcium and other mineral components.

As we did with our analysis of arthritis and asthma, let’s conduct a little contest between the world’s wisdom and God’s wisdom.

Some Osteoporosis Statistics

• Osteoporosis causes over 1.5 million fractures each year in the USA

• Osteoporosis causes over 300,000 hip fractures each year in the USA

• Osteoporosis causes over 700,000 vertebral fractures each year in the USA

• Osteoporosis causes over 250,000 wrist fractures each year in the USA

• Osteoporosis accounts for 70% of all fractures for people over 45 in the USA

What Modern Medicine Says About Osteoporosis

National Osteoporosis Foundation says: “Osteoporosis is a largely PREVENTABLE and treatable disease . . . The National Osteoporosis Foundation is working to prevent osteoporosis, promote bone health, improve the lives of those affected by the disease and find a cure. Your GIFT will help us pursue these goals and support our vital programs for research . . . Together we can work to make bone health a reality and lifelong priority for all individuals.”

EDITOR’S NOTE: Why would the National Osteoporosis Foundation tell us in one breath that “Osteoporosis is largely preventable . . .” and then in the next breath say “Your gift will help . . . support our vital programs for research?”

Since previous research has obviously already revealed how to PREVENT osteoporosis, if the foundation really wanted people to overcome osteoporosis, wouldn’t you think they would tell people of this research, instead of continually asking for more money to support more RESEARCH?

Mayo Clinic says: “The strength of your bones depends on their size and density; bone density depends in part on the amount of calcium, phosphorus and other minerals bones contain. When your bones contain fewer minerals than normal, they’re less strong and eventually lose their internal supporting structure. Scientists have yet to learn all the reasons why this occurs . . .”

EDITOR’S NOTE: The science is available to any and all who would like to access it. If scientists were truly seeking to “learn all the reasons why this [osteoporosis] occurs” do you not think they could have found that reason by now?

I am not a scientist, but I do know enough to seek and find answers that are so readily available.

U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) says: “Reducing Your Risk: Many factors can affect your chances of developing osteoporosis. The good news is that you control some of them. Even though you can’t change your genes, you can still lower your risk with attention to certain lifestyle changes that can help build and maintain bone mass.”

EDITORS NOTE: If the FDA is aware, as they claim, that “certain lifestyle changes can help build and maintain bone mass”, why do they not then tell the American people what those “lifestyle changes” are?

To know and not tell is criminal! And friend, “Osteoporosis” is NOT in “your genes”!

Why A Cause For Osteoporosis Has Not Been Found

This editor spent hours visiting dozens of websites providing information concerning osteoporosis from both the scientific and medical points of view.

In my entire search, not one website even hinted what the CAUSE of osteoporosis might be.

As with almost every physical problem today, the modern medicine fails to deal with CAUSES, rather dealing almost exclusively with symptoms. My Bible tells me that “THE CURSE CAUSELESS SHALL NOT COME.” In other words, the curse (which is the symptom) will not come, without a CAUSE.

Why does does modern medicine do this when, by simply removing the CAUSE, almost all symptoms, and thus almost all physical problems could be eliminated?

My dear friend, if there were no SYMPTOMS to do research on, or to treat, or to raise money for, there would be no need for most scientists, doctors, drug companies, and foundations!

Follow the money trail… Dealing with symptoms costs Americans $2.7 TRILLION annually in so-called “health care” costs.

As I have said so many times before, we do not have a “health care” system in America; we have a “disease care” system.

If we want to eliminate the need for this disease care system, along with all the suffering and high costs associated with it, all we need to do is eliminate the CAUSES of these physical problems!

Tens of thousands of people have written to tell us that after eliminating the CAUSE of their physical problem and adopting The Hallelujah Diet, they have been set free from over 170 different physical problems.

These testimonies continue to come in daily from around the world!

What Causes Osteoporosis?

In Proverbs 26:2, we learn that: “the curse causeless shall not come.”

And so it is with osteoporosis! Without a CAUSE, osteoporosis will not occur! And what is the CAUSE of osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is caused by consuming of foods that are highly acidic!

That shouldn’t be too hard to understand when you realize that . . .

• God designed the body to function properly only in an ALKALINE environment.

• Consuming ACID foods and consuming ACID drinks, causes the body to seek for something within the body that is highly alkaline to neutralize that acidity.

Calcium is very alkaline and plentiful within the body, especially within the bones.

In an effort to neutralize an acidic diet, the body starts extracting calcium from the bones. Over time, this results in lower bone density, and ultimately, osteoporosis.

Which Foods And Drinks Are Acidic?

1. ANIMAL FOODS – All animal source foods, organic or not, are highly acidic. After digestion, they leave an acidity the body must contend with. Highly acidic animal source foods would include all flesh, eggs, dairy, including yogurt and cheese.

2. SOFT DRINKS – Soft drinks are the most acidic substances a person can place into their body, with a pH in the 2.8 and 3.5 ranges. Neutral pH is 7.0 and the pH in the blood is 7.4. More on this later! I’ve been told that some soft drinks are so highly acidic they can actually dissolve a builder’s nail.

3. SUGAR – Refined sugar is extremely acidic. The average American consumes some 172 pounds of it each and every year. That amount of sugar converts to over 50 teaspoons of sugar per person, per day, leading to acid build up within the body, and ultimately lowers bone density.

4. SOME GRAINS – Wheat is probably the most acidic of all the grains. A large intake of wheat, especially refined wheat products such as white bread, white rolls, donuts and pastas contributes to the acidity of the body.

Why An Alkaline Diet Is Critical To Good Health

A highly acidic diet is not only the primary cause of osteoporosis, arthritis, and gout, but also numerous other physical problems.

Disease proliferates in an acid environment, while in an alkaline environment suppresses disease. On the pH scale, neutral is 7.0, while the pH of our blood is 7.4, which is slightly alkaline.

The Hallelujah Diet is an alkalizing diet and stands in sharp contrast to the highly acidic Standard American Diet consumed by most people today.

For good health, the body must maintain an alkaline environment! The importance of keeping an alkaline pH is critical for the blood. Few people realize that if the pH of the blood drops below 7.0, that person will die.

As for the contest between the world’s wisdom and God’s wisdom, who do you think is winning this contest? As I said previously, I feel like the world’s wisdom is being represented by today’s Goliath (modern medicine), but little David (George) using God’s wisdom in these Health Tips is striking a knockout blow.

“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.” (I Corinthians 3:19).

Oboe - For Sale

I have a wooden Noblet Oboe I bought for $1800 in college. I no longer play it and would like to sell it to someone who could utilize it better than I have the past few years. I'm willing to negotiate a reasonable price. If anyone is interested in buying it...they can email me at or call me at 816-673-6925. If you know of someone who has been looking for a nice oboe, please feel free to send my info to them.
