Flutes Needed

My niece Katie has just started band and she needs a flute. I would like one as well, but the main concern is for her. We need one that is good, but inexpensive and I am hoping that someone can help us out by giving us a good lead on one.

There are 8 other kids in the home, so a good price is important...if you know of anyone who has a reasonably priced flute, please let me know.

Help Needed In Rwanda

Dear Saints:

The church in Rwanda has been working on registering their church with their federal government. Until they have officially done so, they cannot legally meet for worship. They are trying to obey the laws of their land by fulfilling the requirements for registration, but there are some hefty expenses involved (about $4500).

If you would like to assist in this work by making a monetary donation, your contribution will go directly to the saints in Africa for this immediate need. All contributions are tax-deductible. Checks can be made to "ARM" (that is, African Restoration Ministries) and mailed to this address:

Thank you and God bless you in your efforts for His Kingdom,

Adoption Needs

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: pdswayne
Adoption Needs

Dear Garland
> I am forwarding an email from my oldest daughter and son-in-law Brent and Camille Seever, because there is a great need.
> Just a few weeks ago they were in the process of working out an adoption from the Oglala reservation in South Dakota when a tragedy happened. The one month old baby girl was killed. We are unable to get the whole story, but we have all been devastated over the ordeal.
> God, in His great plan and compassion opened another door for them unexpectedly just two days ago. A great opportunity for them and for the new baby just born on 8/17.
> They need everything. They only have girl clothes and this is a little boy, plus infant diapers, and all the legal expenses they were not going to have before.
> I suggested she speak their needs, i would send this out through Garland, and the power of prayers from the saints will surely powerfully create a miracle.
> Thank you so much....
> May the love of Jehovah abide with you. Shalom b'shem Yashua Ha Mashiach (Jesus The Messiah)
> Shaulah (Paula Swayne)
>> From: Camille Seever
>> Subject: Adoption Needs
>> Mom,
>> Will you please pass this on for prayers. We are so overwhelmed right now it's hard to think straight.
>> Wednesday, 8/14, Brent was approached by a lady who was pregnant, due Tuesday. This is her 6th child and they can't afford another baby. She's known from the beginning that she wanted to give the baby up for adoption, but never took the steps to get the process in motion. Brent and she visited and she asked if she could meet Gabby and I. We couldn't get a hold of her to make that happen.
>> Saturday, Brent got called into work and when he got there he was greeted with a message that the birthmother had given birth and they were looking for us. They called again while Brent was finishing up his study and he headed to the hospital. He was with the baby all afternoon and evening until Gabby and I arrived around 6:30pm. She is wanting to adopt him out to us. He is a beautiful, healthy, 6lbs, 2oz baby boy.
>> Here is our dilemma...we have a ton of needs with this.
>> 1) We were not pursuing a state-side adoption at this time so we are trying to trust God that he will provide the finances since he provided the baby. When I called on Wednesday, I was told that it would be around $7500. Because the baby was born on the weekend and none of our legal paperwork has been prepared, people are being called in on the weekend to get things rolling so we can get to court Monday or Tuesday morning so that the baby doesn't end up at a "sitter" for more than a day. Everything is costing more than we were originally expecting and the "sitter" will cost $35 per day so we need this taken care of fast.
>> 2) We have a place for baby to sleep and a high chair, but NOTHING for bottles, no formula, diapers, etc. We have appointments all day Monday and will most likely be bringing him home sometime on Tuesday. We have a loaner infant car seat to get him home, but I don't know that we can keep it.
>> 3) Right now we are not sure how the process with the birth-father will go. He is in agreement, but he is also in some legal trouble and not comfortable with having to appear in court. We really need him to cooperate fully so that he will have little if any recourse should he decide to change his mind in the future. We don't feel like there is any risk of him changing his mind, but are trying to be cautious.
>> We are trying so hard to be faithful that God will take care of it all, but with everything hitting all at once it's hard to not to be stressed.
>> Thanks,
>> Camille

TRAITS OF THE CARNAL MIND by E.E. Shellhammer : An Old Time Country Preacher well known and loved by many.
The following are some of the features and manifestations of carnality:

(Reader, the Spirit ALONE can interpret and apply this tract to your individual case. As you read, examine yourself as if in the immediate presence of God.)

Do you ever feel …

1. A secret sense of pride; an exalted feeling in view of your success or position; because of your good training and appearance; because of your natural gifts and abilities; an important, independent spirit; stiffness and preciseness; married to your opinion?

2. Love of human praise; a secret fondness to be noticed; love of supremacy; drawing attention to self in conversation; a swelling out of the ego when you have had a free time in speaking or praying!

3. The stirrings of anger or impatience -- but worst of all you call it nervousness or holy indignation; a touchy, sensitive spirit; a disposition to resent and retaliate when reproved or contradicted; sharp, heated flings at another?

4. Self will; a stubborn, unteachable spirit; an arguing, talkative spirit; harsh, sarcastic expressions; an unyielding, headstrong disposition; a driving, commanding spirit; a disposition to criticize and pick flaws when set aside and unnoticed; a peevish, fretful spirit; a disposition that loves to be coaxed and humored?

5. Carnal fear, a man-fearing spirit; a shrinking from reproach and duty; reasoning around the cross; a shrinking from doing your whole duty by those of wealth or position; a fearfulness that some one will get out of the Spirit and thus offend and drive some prominent person away; a compromising, holding-back spirit?

6. A jealous disposition; a secret spirit of envy shut up in your heart; an unpleasant sensation in view of the great prosperity and success of another; a disposition to speak of the faults and failings rather than the gifts and virtues of those more talented and appreciated than yourself?

7. Lustful stirrings; unholy actions, a carnal leaning; undue affection and familiarity toward those of the opposite sex; wandering eyes; looking the second time?

8. A dishonest, deceitful disposition; evading and covering the truth; covering up your real faults; leaving a better impression of yourself than is strictly true; false humility; exaggeration; straining the truth when it is to your advantage?

9. Unbelief; a spirit of discouragement in times of pressure and opposition; lack of quietness and confidence in God; lack of faith and trust in God; a disposition to worry and complain in the midst of pain, poverty, or at the dispensations of Divine Providence; an overanxious feeling whether everything will come out all right?

10. Formality and. deadness; lack of concern for lost souls; dryness and indifference; lack of power with God? Selfishness, love of ease; love of money, etc.?

These are some of the traits which generally indicate a carnal heart. If one principle is lurking there, you can depend on it, they are ALL there. By prayer and fasting hold your heart open to the searching light of God until you see the groundwork thereof. The Holy Ghost will enable you, by confession and faith, to bring your "old man'' to the death.

"Knowing this that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.'' (Romans 6:6.) Do not patch over, but go to the bottom. It will pay. Hallelujah! (E. E. S.)

Act 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

From: Larry Ward

Restoration Christmas Choir invitation

Dear Singer,

You are invited to join the Restoration Christmas Choir in preparing services of praise and worship for this year's Christmas season!

Throughout the summer we've been making plans for this special ministry to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. The music selections have been finalized and can be reviewed at the choir resource web page : - just click on the listening tracks near the top of the page.

We're very excited about the music selections for this Christmas; they are challenging but accessible with inspiring texts.

If you would like to start working on some of these anthems ahead of time, I'd suggest focusing on "See That Star!" If you didn't sing with us last Christmas, it would be helpful for you to also work on "Rise Up!"

As always, we would ask you to invite other musicians to share in this ministry.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you will be singing with us this fall so we can order music for you!

Rehearsals are Sunday afternoons from 4:30 - 6:00 pm at the Atherton Restoration Branch beginning September 15.

These Christmas worship services will be Sunday evening, December 8 and Sunday morning, December 15.

Yours in Christ,

Larry Ward
