Wayne Alton Kirk 87, of Miami, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Integris Regional Medical Center in Miami, Oklahoma.
Wayne was born October 11, 1931 in Riverton, Kansas to George and Dana (Brown) Kirk.
He married Jewel Archer October 11, 1954 in and they shared 65 years together, even in working together.
He served in the United States Army during Korea, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch and served as pastor. He was a member of the Lions Club in both Picher and Miami, the Travel Club of Miami and American Legion post 147 in Miami, Oklahoma. Owned and operated Kirks Home and Auto Store on South Main in Miami, Topline Auto Parts on North Main in Miami, Lion Supply in Picher, Oklahoma and Chetopa, Kansas.
He lived in Ottawa County most of his life, except while serving in the service.
He preceded in death by his parents and one son Timothy Blair Kirk and a grandson Austin Kirk.
Survivors his wife Jewel Kirk of the home one son Thomas Wayne Kirk of Miami, OK, one brother Bill Kirk of Joplin, MO, two grandchildren Amanda Dawn Kirk and Ashley Marie Kirk.
Services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday July 3, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch on Highway 10 in Miami, Oklahoma with Rob Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in the G.A.R. Cemetery under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday July 2, 2019 from 6-7 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be members of the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch.

Paul Roberts Shaw of Odessa, Missouri passed away June 18, 2019 at Missouri Veteran’s Home, Warrensburg, MO. Memorial serviced will be held at 4:00pm Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Buckner Restoration Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ, 2607 N Twyman Rd, Independence, MO 64058.
Paul Roberts Shaw was born on July 25, 1929. in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of Pearl and Harold Shaw. His mother and father lived and worked in Canada but shortly after their marriage they moved to Detroit, Michigan. When Paul and his sister were born, his bother with back to Ontario by ferry to have them in the hospital where she had trained and worked as a nurse. Paul lived and worked his entire life in the Detroit area. His father died when he was 8. He realized even at his early age the responsibility his mother was now facing raising his sister and him alone. At eight years old, to help mom, he started delivering news papers. They lived in an upstairs flat and Paul’s job was to clean and scrub all the stairs every Saturday. As he grew up, he got a variety of jobs. He worked at an ice company and tells how the boss would buy him a thick ham sandwich everyday at noon. That was a real treat for him and he really looked forward to that. Paul also worked at Cartage (hauling fresh vegetables) in Ruthven, Ontario while he would stay at his grandma’s in the summers. The hardest job was everyday in the winder he had to shovel coal to heat the whole house where they lived.
at a very young age, Paul sang in many boys choirs at a number of large churches in the Detroit area. He never stopped singing until his first major back operation in 2009. He had a beautiful rich voice and sang at so many weddings, funerals, and other occasions his whole life. When he could no longer sing, it was difficult for him because it had been so much a part of his life.
Paul was a very accomplished archer. He was very young living in a big city and not having any money, he was determined to learn this sport. He went out and found branches to make his own bow and arrows. By the time he was in high school, he excelled over all the students each year with his hand made bow and arrows. Paul taught archery at all youth camps, reunions and both years at Graceland. Later he would go hinting with his friends. He tells how he would enjoy their friendship and being in the woods with real nature.
Paul while attending high school was in a four year program sponsored by the Ford motor company. He was a straight A student and when he graduated, he was the valedictorian with over 750+ students. He then attended and graduated from Graceland College. Paul had to send his laundry home by mail to have it done. While there, he rose very early each morning to work in the kitchen where he and another young man helped prepare breakfast to help with his tuition. He would tell how his mom told him to always have a quarter in his pocket so he was never broke. Paul sang in the men’s college quartet and school choir both years.
Leaving Graceland, he worked five years repairing type writers in the Detroit area. At some point h became manager and president of a company and was there most of his working life. He worked very hard each year growing it from a small inventory to a very large successful company.
Paul was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and his greatest joy in life was the gospel. Paul was ordained a deacon at age 16, then a priest, elder, and a high priest. He was youth leader for the Detroit Windsor District and then the Detroit International Stake for many years. He was on the stake high council. Paul was the pastor at four different congregations while he lived in Michigan. He was very involved in the Restoration movement in the Detroit area, helping some of the groups form.
In 1988, Paul and Lynn got reacquainted at church and how life changed for him and her. They married December 30th with so many family, church family and friends in attendance. He moved to Amherstburg, Ontario until they moved to Odessa, MO in 1990. After moving, Paul became active in the restoration congregations like he had back in Michigan. When his health started to fail back in 2009, he was very sad that he could no longer be involved in the work of the church like he had been. He never stopped reading, studying the scripture and taking notes. He lived his religion and was an example ot many. Paul was always soft spoken, gentle and very kind to all he met. Oh how Paul will be missed but he is finally with his Heavenly Father which he wanted very much. No more pain that he has suffered with for so many years and yet never wanted other to know.
He was the loving husband of Lynn (Nicholson Brownlie), father to Tim (Mary), Ken of California, Dave Shaw (Dana) of Arizona, step father to Kim Perry of Raytown, Missouri, Tamara Lasley (Guy) of Odessa, MO, Steven Brownlie (Carolyn) of Alberta, Brett Brownlie (Marie) of Ontario, Jamie Brownlie of Odessa, MO, Andrew Brownlie deceased 2012. He leaved 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He has one sister Barbara Zak, of Michigan.
