Jason Alan Terry, 45, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on January 12, 2024 after a long road of complications due to his bardet-biedle syndrome.

Jason was born on August 3, 1978 to Mike and Debby Terry in Cedar Rapids, IA. After Jason graduated from Rock Bridge High School in 1997, He went on to study business administration at Columbia College.

After graduating with a degree in business, He started his Law Degree in Sioux Falls, SD before returning home to Columbia, MO.

In 2009 Jason, along with his parents moved to the Kansas City area, Jason spent his time attending church at The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, catching every sports game and Hallmark movie possible and cuddling with his puppies and nieces.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Monda Lee and Don Hough, Charles and Jo Terry. His mother Debby Terry. He is survived by his father Mike Terry. Brother and sister-in-law, Josh and Tiffany Terry, nieces Cheyanne, Rileigh and Morgan. Including many loving Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

No Services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to:

Vera L. Henderson, 104 years, passed away January 16, 2024. She was a member of the Farview Restoration Branch. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, and her daughter, Linda Hahn. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Lynn and husband, Bill, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. There will be private services for family only.

God Empowering Men (GEM) & Youth Restoration Gospel Distinctives Courses Outreach Restoration Branch is offering two classes to interested Saints on Tuesday nights, starting on February 6th for 15 weeks from 6:45-8:30pm. GEM: God Empowering Men – “Knowing the Holy Spirit” Course Do you want to develop the greatest gift available in this life? Many have been given this gift and don’t know how to use it and don’t even know what power is available to them. The gift of the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift of God on this side of salvation. Come learn to be empowered of the Holy Spirit and to live in daily communion with Him. We are calling all men 14+ to join us in a 15-week course on “Knowing the Holy Spirit”, that we might become men of Spiritual power. Come join your brothers to learn, practice, discuss, instill personal disciplines, join a small men’s support group, and develop what is needed to truly be a man of God. You are not alone! You are not without support! God is calling his men to rise up together and stand as light in this dark world…men who will listen, hearken, and move according to the voice of the Lord God almighty in these last days! Doris Fern Johnson Arnold, 94, of Independence, Missouri, passed away January 29th, 2024, peacefully, surrounded by her children at Brookdale Senior Community Center - her recent home for the past year and a half.

Doris was born on January 31,1929 to Roy and Enna Johnson in Marshall, Missouri. She was one of two children. Her family moved to Independence, Missouri her sophomore year where she attended William Chrisman High School and graduated in 1946. Soon, after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Arnold. Their first two years of marriage, her husband served in the Navy. Doris was a devoted wife and mother to six children. Thomas D. Arnold (Lisa), Gerald W. Arnold (deceased), Deborah S. Shrout (Fred), Kenneth D. Arnold (deceased), Rebecca A. Hestand (Jeff), and John D. Arnold (Kenna).

Doris never met a stranger and accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms (loved hugs) and the warmest of smiles. She was a member of the Community of Christ Park Congregation in Blue Springs, Missouri where she participated in the choir and volunteered typing the Sunday bulletin and later attended the 39th Street Congregation in Independence, Missouri which she attended most Sundays until the Covid Pandemic.

Doris had a few part time jobs through the years, one being a lunch lady at a Blue Springs Elementary school. She also did some volunteer work at Truman Hospital - Lakewood in the gift shop. Her greatest accomplishments were being a homemaker and raising her six children with unconditional love, support and kindness. These qualities were also shown to her thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was very proud of her family and would mention to everyone how "blessed' she was.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Arnold, her parents Roy and Enna Johnson, her brother Robert Johnson, two sons, Gerald Arnold and Kenneth Arnold, and her granddaughter, Hannah Hestand Solce.

Services for Doris will take place Monday, February 5, 2024, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Family will greet guests between the hours of 1:00 - 2:00 pm, for visitation. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm. Doris will be inurned at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, MO following the services.

In lieu of flowers, family suggest contributions be made to Monarch Hospice in Doris’ honor.

Darrell Lewis Langer - Obituary

 

Darrell Lewis Langer February 29, 1956 — January 30, 2024 Independence Darrell Lewis Langer, 67, of Independence, MO passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in Overland Park , KS. He was born on February 29, 1956, in Ohio to Michael and Ruth Langer. Darrell was a machinist most of his life and had a passion for the work he did. He accomplished a lot in his over 42 years in the business. Darrell even had a machine shop in his own garage to work on projects outside of the workplace. He lived in Arizona during his younger years and graduated from high school there. After high school he moved to Independence. In his younger years Darrell loved to go dirt bike racing, ride dune buggies, and go hiking. To this day he owned an ATV that he loved to ride with his grandchildren. One thing Darrell really loved in life was being a grandfather, his grandsons brought him great joy and pride. He loved animals, especially his German Shepherd Carly, he would often be found down by 3 Trails Brewing walking and people watching with Carly by his side. Darrell was a deacon in the RLDS church and was proud of the work he got to be a part of through the church. He was an all-around handyman, great at fixing anything (even dinner), Darrell was a wonderful cook. Darrell loved going to the movies. Darrell is survived by his wife Trudy Gipson-Langer, son William Cody Greer (Audrey), daughters Alisha Gipson, and Julie Weakley, and three grandsons Jackson Weakley, Cameron Cowens, and Elliott Greer. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Ruth Langer, and his sister Kathy Langer. A visitation for Darrell will take place on Monday February 5, 2024, at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th St. S. Independence, MO 64055) from 10:00- 10:30 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest a donation to the American Diabetes Association in Darrell's name.
