Lagos Nigeria Restoration Campground Fund Update

 

Update $1200 has been received which was used to drill a water well on the property. Thank you, Bill Barrett Lagos Nigeria Restoration Campground Fund Dear Saints, We have an opportunity to help the saints of Lagos Nigeria with the next phase of their Restoration Campgrounds. They have been working on it for 4 years to get the fencing, iron gate, and building to the 1st story complete except for the roof. They need to do the decking which will act as the roof for the 1st floor and provide the floor for the 2 nd story. Rest rooms will also be completed so it will be usable for worship for a new branch at Atan near Lagos. It will also be used for the annual conference and annual retreats such as women’s, youth, and men’s retreats for Nigeria. Nigeria has 13 branches or groups, 36 priesthood, and over 500 members. This facility is in the name of the church, and not any individual. Land was donated and signed over to the church by a local church member. They are anxiously awaiting this next phase to make it feasible for use. It will require about $20,000. Click the link below to see the progress.

UPDATE Thank you for your generous donations. Including the matching donation of our confidential donor we have raised $17,940.00 so far. It is our desire to be able to donate $40,000.00 to them.

DISASTER RELIEF FOR SAINTS IN THE PHILIPPINES Many of the Saints in the Philippines are in need of emergency funding for disaster relief. The island of Mindanao has had unusually high amounts of rain this season causing a great deal of flooding in the lowlands and landslides in higher areas. Over 40 farms were an 100% loss due to flooding and landslides. Another 12 farms had about 50% losses. Their farms are not only a source of income, but also a source of food for their families. Money for replanting and fertilizer, as well as living expenses will be needed until their first crop harvest. Four homes were also a total loss, with many other houses needing repairs in three different villages: Kamaka, Nasarayan, and Masalagpok. Brother Dan Brotherton and Brother Frank VanFleet, from the AAIM Board, will be traveling back to the Philippines in late March or early April to deliver the assistance funds to our members that have suffered such tragic loss. If you would like to contribute to the assistance in the Philippines, that would be a tremendous blessing to the Saints there. There is a confidential donor that is willing to match any contributions made, thereby doubling your efforts. In addition, all donations will be tax deductible. Edna Louise Tucker - Obituary

 

Edna Louise Tucker December 16, 1935 — March 13, 2024 Independence, MO Edna Louise Tucker, 88, of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. A visitation will be held from 2-3pm on Sunday, March 17th with a funeral service following at 3pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St.; Independence, MO 64055. Interment will take place at 12pm on Monday, March 18th at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence. Edna attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA and it was there, in the fall of 1954, that she met Kenneth Tucker. They began playing catch with an apple in the laundromat and at that moment he knew she was the one. They were married on August 24, 1957. Raised in Bremen, OH on a 90-acre farm, she learned to sing while milking the cows. She won the respect and love of her fellow Eden Heights Church members after joining the church around 1960 and began planning and preparing events such as turkey dinners, taco dinners, sweetheart banquets, trips to Navoo, float trips, and others. She also served as a women's leader, choir director, girls youth leader, and sang multiple times in the production of Handel’s Messiah. She enjoyed playing volleyball and taught herself to play the piano. Above all else, Edna had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy. Edna will be missed by so many that knew and loved her. Edna is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth; her daughters, Jodi (Jerry) Wynn and Kimberly Miller (Kent Morris); grandchildren, Nicole (Brad) Darby, Dana (Ashley) Blum, Sean (Kim) Gaulter, Jonathan (Toni) Miller, Jeremy Miller; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joan Wade and Joseph Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward L. and Elizabeth Smith; brother, Richard Smith and twin brother, Edward Smith. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
