Homosexuality and the Church Part 2

Sunday, April 28 at 6pm at Outreach Restoration Branch, there will be part 2 of a 4 part series this year on homosexuality and the Church. During part 1, we shared a couple testimonies of those struggling in homosexuality. Part 2 will discuss how best to address friends and loved ones dealing with this and how to deal with the internal struggle for yourself. There are many struggling with this in the church who feel lost, unloved, and misunderstood. We want to bring this issue to the light of Jesus Christ. We welcome all who are in this struggle or know someone who is or those who are simply interested in learning more on this topic. Let me know if you have any questions. Jane King

Bonnie Hirning Obituary

Bonnie Lou Hirning 91 years old Independence, Mo. She passed away peacefully on April 2nd 2024 at her home. Bonnie was born on December 4th, 1932 to John and Ethel Brosam. She was proceeded in death by her husband Clarence D. Hirning on March 1st. 2024. She is survived by her three children; Daughter Debbie Turner (Robert), Daughter Robin Denham (Buddy) and Son Dennis Hirning (Sharon). Three grandchildren; Justin Jones (Merideth), Abby Mocek, Adam Hirning (Amanda). Three great-grandchildren; Justin Jones II (Leticia), Victoria Jones and Marissa Jones. Bonnie was an active member of the Saints Haven Restoration Branch. She was a very friendly and positive lady. Always caring for others. Foremost in her life, frequently sharing with others of her loving relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a loving mother to her children and family. She loved being a mother and keeping her home. Bonnie was known for her great cooking. She also was an accomplished artist. Painting many beautiful paintings of nature, wildlife and her Lord Jesus Christ. The family will have a private gathering. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. II Timothy 4:6

Independence Heartland Meeting 4/18/24

The Independence Heartland group will watch a very informative video by Wayne May called “Searching for Maya Ancestors.” We will explore the possible origins of the Mayans by looking at the stone art structures in meso-America and compare them to other structures around the world. The Independence Heartland group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month to discuss topics related to the Heartland Geography model of the Book of Mormon

 

Carol D. Epps - Obituary

Carol D. Epps June 11, 1942 — March 31, 2024 Lee's Summit, Missouri Carol Diane Epps, 81 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024. Cremation is planned with a celebration of her life to be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Speaks Suburban. Private inurnment will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Donations may be made in her name to Outreach International. Carol was born June 11, 1942 in Kansas City, KS to Maxwell and Delores (Mittelstaedt) Deck. She grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1960 and from CMSU in 1964 with a BS in Education. She worked as a teacher at the Kansas School for the Blind and as a librarian in several Michigan communities, as well as years of volunteering for a variety of organizations. As a lifelong member of the Community of Christ, she and her husband served on assignment for the church for a number of years in different locations. She married Gary L. Epps on June 4, 1965 and enjoyed many years of marriage until his passing on July 6, 2009. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Brison and husband Steven of Lee’s Summit, MO; a son, Brian Epps and wife Heidi of Lee’s Summit, MO; a sister, Dr. Robin Deck and husband Dr. Robert Main of Gainesville, MO; a brother, Brent Deck of Kansas City, KS and 3 grandchildren, Gareth Brison (Haley), Logan Epps and Jason Epps.
