Ruins of Maya City Discovered in Remote Jungle

Ruins of Maya City Discovered in Remote Jungle

An entire Maya city full of pyramids and palatial complexes has been discovered in a remote jungle in southeastern Mexico, archaeologists report.

Covered in thick vegetation, the ruins were found in Campeche, a province in the western Yucatán peninsula that's littered with Maya complexes and artifacts. The newfound site is dubbed Chactún, and it stretches over roughly 54 acres (22 hectares). Researchers think the city was occupied during the Late Classic Maya period, from roughly A.D. 600 until A.D. 900, when the civilization mysteriously collapsed.

Restoration Branch Family Reunion and Conference

----- Forwarded Message -----
From: paul gage

Greetings Saints,

The reunion season is in full swing and we anticipate great testimonies from those in attendance as to how God ministered to them.

The 4th reunion of the season begins Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Waldo Avenue RB/CPRS.

It is the Restoration Branch Family Reunion and Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE). co-sponsored by the Pastors of Zion (POZ) and the CRE. It will be everything you would find at a "typical" reunion, except there is no common housing. We have a goodly number coming from outside the Center Place and invite the Saints, particularly in Jackson and neighboring counties to join us as much as possible.

There will be prayer services, priesthood worship, classes for all, great music, and Spirit filled preaching. Each day's activities begin with a 7:00 am priesthood worship, a 9:00 am general prayer service, and a 10:30 am general class on the daily theme.

Afternoon sessions will include a general class at 1:30 pm and other organized activities from 3-5 pm.

Evening song service or other activity at 6:30 pm and evening worship at 7:00 pm.

On Sunday, June 23, 2013 there will be a 9:00 am prayer service followed by a preaching service at 10:30 am. The speaker will be Elder Craig Fountain from Zion's Trumpet RB. Lunch will be served in the Sorensen Room.

A priesthood meeting and worship will be held from 2:30-3:30 pm and then an orientation and reception session for all. Dinner will be served in the Sorensen Room at 5:00 pm followed by a 6:30 pm song service and then at 7:00 pm the evening preaching service. The speaker will be Elder William "Vim" Horn, from Oak Grove RB and Chairman of the CRE. A campfire will follow the service.

The morning general class will follow the daily theme. The teachers will be Elder David Joyce from Morgantown, WV RB, Elder Dayn Cedestrom from Living Hope RB, and Elder John Larson from Zion's Trumpet RB.

Afternoon general classes will feature Elder Paul Frinsthal, from the Buckner RB and HP Glen Friend from Colbern Road RB with the topic of "The End Times." That will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, June 24, 2013. On Tuesday Elder Bob Bobbitt from Outreach RB will conduct a class on "Christian Apologetics-Proof that God Is". Elder Bobbitt will also do "Christian Apologetics-The Resurrection" on Wednesday and "On Behalf of the Restored Gospel" on Friday. Elder Lyle Smith will lead a session on Thursday entitled, "Book of Mormon Proofs."

The CRE will conduct its business on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 1:30-5:00 pm, Tuesday and Wednesday from3:00-5:00 pm. On Thursday and Friday from 3:00-5:00 pm will be general meetings of the elders to discuss how to better minister to the Saints. All Melchisedec priesthood members must be properly credentialed to vote on CRE matters. All Melchisedec are invited to the general sessions.

Evening speakers will be HP Steve Bohall from the Lexington, MO RB on Monday, Elder Frank Dippel from Morgantown, WV RB on Tuesday, and Seventy Richard Neill from Living Hope RB on Friday.

Wednesday evening will missionary oriented featuring Seventy Juan Reyes from Mexico, and Elders Chris Capps and Brian Mundy. Thursday night will be an evening of sharing, a type of talent show directed by Elder Larry Hodges of Outreach RB and assisted by Priest James Rao of Outreach RB.

Come anytime or all the time. You can still register, at no cost, on line or Sunday afternoon or during the week. You can even register by phone today and until noon on Friday June 21, 2013 by calling the CRE office at 836-3421.

God bless and hope to see you all there.

If you are a pastor and could pass this info on to your branch this Sunday it will be much appreciated.

Sanders adoption

We have been blessed enough to be the feature family on a blog called Give 1 Save 1 for one week, but we were invited to remain on the blog for another week because we did not reach our goal and are so close to traveling to China to pick up our son. The premise of this blog is if everyone donated at least $1 you could help change the life of a child. If you donate this week, we will put your name in a drawing for a $100 gift card to which can be used at over 18,000 restaurants in the U.S.

We are in the final few weeks of adopting an almost 5-year-old boy who needs a heart surgery to live a full life. Without the surgery, he may live to be 11 or 12 years old. Because he needs this surgery his process has been expedited leaving us short on the funds needed to bring him home. If you will go to the link below you can read our testimonies about Mason, see his picture, and we even prepared a video about his adoption.

or if you just want to watch the video here is that link

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Stacey and Richard Sanders

Central Missouri Reunion

As of today (Wednesday, June 12) all cabins and housing for the 2013 Central Missouri Reunion at the Odessa Hills Campgrounds are filled. We have just a couple of RV slots still available. If you are more the camping type person, we have plenty of room for those who want to set up tents. Please contact Steve Bohall (housing coordinator) at 816-934-8309 if you are wanting to register to either tent or for the couple of RV slots still available.

All are invited commute to attend day and evening services. This is an excellent opportunity not only for the seasoned Saint to be strengthened in the faith, but to also invite a person who may need to be introduced and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time.

For those who don't know, the Odessa Hills Campgrounds are located approximately 3 miles north of Odessa, MO on Missouri Highway 131. There is a sign by the highway letting you know to turn on "Odessa Hills Road". You turn left (West) and go .5 miles and the campgrounds are on the right (north side) of the road. The first entrance (staying to the left) will lead you to the tabernacle for services.

I have attached the daily schedule along with the daily themes and evening speakers.

If you have any other questions about reunion besides registering for housing, you can contact me at: 660-463-7620 or e-mail me at:

I look forward to seeing you at reunion!

The Pastors of Zion started the annual Summer preaching Series at Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch tonight, June 9, 2013. It will be every Sunday evening through August 18.

It was fantastic and Spirit filled tonight. Elder Charlie Booth, accompanied by Rachael Horn at the piano led a dynamic hymn sing. Ministry of music by the Horn family was outstanding.

Elder Phil Freeze pastor of the Oak Grove Restoration Branch presided and along with 10 other pastors shared their testimonies of the Church and of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Other pastors that shared included: Larry Hodges, Outreach RB, Dayn Cederstrom, Living Hope RB, Craig Fountain, Zion's Trumpet RB, Joe Hale, Missionary RB, Morris Jones, Mt Zion RB, Roger Graybill, Waldo Avenue RB, Russ Howard, Hill Cumorah RB, Jay Huffman, Farview RB, and Dan Schwartz, Belton RB.

This would be a CD or tape you would like to listen to and share. You can order by calling the Conference of Restoration Elders office at 816-836-3421 or online at or by emailing the sound technician, Jacob Roberts at

The Saints enjoyed refreshments and fellowship after the service.

God bless and don't miss out on the other services.

In Christ,
Paul Gage

We are in the final few weeks before we travel to pick up our son from China and we are still raising funds. This week we are the featured family on a blog named Give 1 Save 1. The premise is if everyone gave $1 you could help save one child.

Our son needs a life-saving heart surgery this summer so his adoption has been expedited. Once he has this surgery, we have been told by the surgeon that Mason should live a full life. Without the surgery he may live to be 10-12 years old. Because of the very fast process we have not had much time to raise funds so we have been having to ask for help from everyone. Anyone who knows me, understands how difficult it is for me to ask for help.

If you go to this web address you can read about our testimony that we KNOW God has asked us be Mason's family and we know that God would not ask us to do something without providing the way to do it.

UMKC Roommate wanted

I will be attending UMKC this fall of 2013, and am looking for a roommate for the next year (or however long one would be living with me) close to or on UMKC campus. Graduate school begins the week of August 19th, so I was hoping to move in sometime around early August. I’m looking for a roommate or two for an apartment. Hoping to keep rent at a reasonable price as well, so nothing outlandish or extremely luxurious of sorts. If you’re interested in rooming with me, I can be contacted at 515-408-6995 or by email at I aspire to be a clean roommate and a respectful roommate, so let me know if you’re interested.

35 years ago today in 1978, the LDS church started allowing blacks into their priesthood.

Keep in mind that under Joseph Smith, Jr. there were blacks in the priesthood (Elijah Abel in 1836, for example) and the early saints were mostly anti-slavery (one of the reasons why Missouri didn't like the saints).

Brigham Young changed this when he established the Mormon Church. The Mormon Church didn't start in 1830, it started in 1844 with Brigham Young, as its first leader.

Brigham Young had a personal vendetta against William McCary, who was half-black and said the following: "If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so."

... In 1995, the Southern Baptist Convention voted to adopt a resolution renouncing its racist roots and apologizing for its past defense of slavery, segregation, and white supremacism. These were the same people who decided to expand the definition of cult, by including us, because we believed in the Book of Mormon as an additional witness.

The restored gospel started with Joseph Smith Jr., and continued through his son who always accepted and ordained blacks to the priesthood. Just another example of the confirmation of the restored gospel.

Needing to rent a "Mother-in-Law's Quarters"

A good friend of mine is needing a place to live and hoping for a "MIL quarters", or a nice basement apartment. They need safe and clean, no mold, willing to pay a fair rent. She needs at least two bedrooms. These are very nice, Christian people!! Mom and two (great, respectful, loving, appreciative) kids (10-12 years old?) They are very clean and very neat, don't smoke or drink.

(anywhere in the Independence, Buckner, Blue Springs, Lee's Summit areas...)

If you can help out, or have any other questions, please let me know!!
