UNITY CENTER WINDOW REMOVAL PROGRESS

 From: Muriel Luedeman

UNITY CENTER WINDOW REMOVAL PROGRESS

Hello, Initiative and Unity Center Friends,

Good progress was made last week and Saturday by a crew of 8, including Andy Gross, the project manager. One young volunteer appeared to be about 14 years old. Volunteers are still needed for several days to help with window removal at the Unity Center. Contact Andy Gross to sign up for work. You don’t have to be a skilled carpenter to assist. If you can take directions and are willing to work, he can use you. Both able bodied men and women, young and old.    Andy’s number is: 816-803-9149

Preparation for Pentecost, Sunday, May 23rd

 From: Muriel Luedeman

Preparation for Pentecost, Sunday, May 23rd

Yesterday, May 2nd, was the 28th day of counting the omer, or sheaf of barley, which the Lord commanded Israel to do in preparation for Pentecost, or the Feast of weeks. This ends the fourth week of seven weeks.

Below is the appropriately translated blessing that is recited each night when the omer is counted.

“Blessed are you, O Lord our God, Creator and Ruler of the Universe, who sanctifies us with commands of daily doing your good deeds of empathy and kindness, and who commands us to count the omer.”

Jesus appeared to his disciples on resurrection night and met with them multiple times over the following 40 days of preparation toward Pentecost. He instructed them, blessed them with miraculous catches of fish, prepared food for them, challenged/commanded them to care for His flock, and finally, the last thing he did was give the GREAT COMMISSION, to go into all the world and preach the gospel, with blessings, signs and wonders following all the believers’ prayers and works.

He commanded them to tarry in Jerusalem and not many days hence, (10 days), they would receive the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost.

At Pentecost, thousands were in the city to worship during this Feast of the Lord.  Jesus followers were 120 in all, gathered in an upper room, penitent and obedient, having come to offer up their praises to God for the law given to Moses AND to their Law Giver, Jesus Christ.

May we, Latter Day Israel, also prepare for this Pentecost, 2021 in the same way, humbly weeding out our sins, repenting, and doing the daily commands/good deeds God places on our hearts to do for our family, friends and neighbors. Then come to Waldo, May 23rd, prepared to enter the presence of our Savior and ready to receive a Pentecostal blessing from our Lord. May the Holy Spirit set our hearts on fire for these final days of consecrated prayer and work to bring down the Kingdom of Heaven according to God’s plans.

The following paragraph is from Paul DeBarthe:

You are welcome to invite others to join our forum. I am delighted with the diverse perspectives being offered and request that each be treated with respect. If they are encouraging others to read and study the Book of Mormon even for diverse reasons then that commonality can be appreciated. Insofar as views presented conflict, I hope to retain friendship with all and anticipate a growing understanding among all the participants. We can agree to disagree on issues but do so agreeably such that we can represent the invitation of the Book to live together beyond our -isms
and -ites as people of peace!
