LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JANUARY 25, 2024

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JANUARY 25, 2024

Greetings Dear Saints,

As we near the end of January and realize that one month of another year is going fast, what impact does that have with your living in the kingdom of God? It means we are another month closer to the return of Jesus Christ and the world is in a whirlwind like never before. At least, never before to us.

So, what effect, if any, does our living in the kingdom of God have in the lives of those around us? Are others able to detect something “different” about us, or do, they lump us in with the rest of the world?

Remember, the kingdom of God is on the earth. Our command from Jesus is to “Seek first to build up the kingdom and establish His righteousness. No easy task, for sure, but if it was not possible then Jesus would not have given us that challenge. Of course, we realize that Jesus gave that command while he was doing his ministry on earth and it was fairly early on in his ministry. He had a few years to get the idea across to his followers, but they did not get a clear picture until Jesus was resurrected and then ascended into heaven leaving them with that mission. Their mission is now our mission.

There is no need to recount all that has transpired in the last 2023 years. Many have worked diligently to build up the kingdom of God and a few groups of people have been successful, but did not endure. The group that did endure was translated and now awaits in heaven for that time when we, or those on earth who desire it enough fulfill Genesis 9:21-23. Simple assignment: embrace the truth (JESUS), keep all of God’s commandments and look upward.

Some would say that is easier said than done, and they would be correct. But it is possible and God has given us the tools to complete the assignment. The first task, possibly is to really understand that it is HIS KINGDOM and not our kingdom. We live in the world God created and placed us. He has a plan and it is the only plan that will ultimately be successful, because all the plans and efforts of satan as well as our plans and efforts will fail.

Every day is another opportunity for us, individually and as branches, groups, factions or whatever to build up God’s Kingdom on earth. Our efforts are visible to all those we make contact with. This, of course begins with the family and includes every aspect of our daily walk, even if we stay home all day and don’t see anyone else.

II Chronicles 9 is an interesting chapter relating to following God or following our own paths. Read it for yourself and especially note the first sentence verse 9. Actually, chapter 15 is worth reading as well.

Of course, according again to Jesus, we are to live by every word that proceeds forth from the mouth of God. His word provides all the guidance we need for building up His kingdom and establishing His righteousness. He is coming back and since we don’t know exactly when, it behooves us to be ready 24/7, even at midnight.

God bless

Paul Gage

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JANUARY 18, 2024

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JANUARY 18, 2024

Greetings to the Saints around the world,

Living in the kingdom, fasting, praying, studying for the kingdom, preparing ourselves and others, spiritually, for the kingdom, what is all this about? Perhaps you have wondered about this or don’t feel or see any connection between how we are living now compared to how those will live who are accepted into God’s Kingdom in its fullness on earth. Maybe this is a topic we hear so much about that we have a tendency to turn a “deaf ear” when someone talks about it.

That seemed to have been the pattern for the Isrealites, Jaredites, Lehiites (all, of Lehi’s family), as well as the early Latter Day Saints and the later Latter Day Saints. We have very clear instructions from God as to what we are to be doing IF we want to be an integral part of His Kingdom.

Let us read again the words of our Brother Moroni as he closes out his ministry and time on earth. Moroni 10:27-30 “And again, I would exhort you that ye would come unto Christ, and lay hold upon every good gift, and touch not the evil gift nor the unclean thing. 28 And awake and arise from the dust, O Jerusalem; yea, and put on thy beautiful garments, O daughter of Zion, and strengthen thy stakes, and enlarge thy borders forever, that thou mayest no more be confounded, that the covenants of the eternal Father which he hath made unto thee, O house of Israel, may be fulfilled. 29 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness and love God with all your might, mind, and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in no wise deny the power of God. 30 And again, if ye, by the grace of God, are perfect in Christ and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father, unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy without spot.”

If this was the only scripture we ever had, would we have any excuse for not living in the Kingdom of God, now, and when Jesus returns? The word, “YE,” is used seven times in this short scripture. Who is “YE?” Ye is an archaic or old fashion version of “YOU.” Though the word, ye, may be “old-fashioned” we do not want to be “old-fashioned” when it comes to obeying God’s word. We do not want to think that God is speaking to someone else. We do not want to think the Kingdom is not applicable to us now.

Did not Jesus teach his disciples (us) to pray, in Matthew 6:11 (IV) “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven…” Compare this to the King James version, Matthew 6:10 “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” If we are living when Jesus returns, don’t we want to be living His will and not our own?

As always, due to the grace, mercy, sacrifice and love of our Heavenly Father, the choice is ours. Now look up, on your own, the last statement of Moroni in Moroni 10:31.

God bless

Paul Gage

New Prophet=President of Community of Christ Stassi D. Cramm

New Prophet=President of Community of Christ

Stassi D. Cramm

Stassi D. Cramm, who recently accepted a call to be prophet-president of Community of Christ, currently serves as a member of the First Presidency and is counselor to the president of the church. If her call is approved at the 2025 World Conference, she will be the first woman to hold the church’s highest office. Until then, her title will be prophet-president designate. She has served as presiding bishop of the Presiding Bishopric, a counselor to the presiding bishop, a member of the Council of Twelve Apostles, and the Southwest Pacific Region administrator and stewardship commissioner. Her ordinations: August 1987 as priest, June 1990 as elder, May 1999 as high priest, April 2002 as bishop, and June 2005 as apostle. “In retreats and leadership gatherings, my role was often as a facilitator, helping people discern how their giftedness could be lived in mission in local contexts. I’ve always had a strong commitment to developing disciples and empowering leaders. The identity, mission, message, and beliefs of the church were always a foundation to any ministry I was providing.” Sister Cramm’s full-time employment with the church began in 2000. Prior, she began her ministry volunteering with music, children, and reunions and serving as stewardship commissioners and pastor. After Sister Cramm received a Bachelor of Science degree in general engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, and a Master of Arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix, she received a Master of Arts in religion from Graceland University and a PhD in organization and management from Capella University. Before full-time ministry for Community of Christ, Sister Cramm was employed as a flight-test engineer for the US Air Force. While with the church she has, among other things, provided teaching, preaching, and other guest ministry around the USA, Canada, England, French Polynesia, Africa, Honduras, and Australia. She supervised Fiscal Services, Office of General Counsel, and Information Technology at International Headquarters. She served as dean of Community of Christ Seminary at Graceland University in 2014 and 2015. She is a member of the Graceland Board of Trustees. In response to the pandemic in 2020, she helped the church develop online ministry capabilities to work around physical limitations. As presiding bishop, she helped develop the next generation of A Disciple’s Generous Response resources. She was raised in southern Illinois. Sister Cramm and her husband, Stephen Cramm, have two adult children and two grandchildren. They live alternately in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, where their grandchildren are, and Independence, Missouri, USA. Sister Cramm is known widely for her valediction, “Onward,” found at the end of most of her emails. “I’ve come to understand we are empowered to move onward by the grace of God,” she said. “We can seek forgiveness for the things we’ve messed up and grant forgiveness when we have been wronged, but we can’t undo bad events. We also can’t relive the past. We can’t recreate the heyday of what was. We can learn from it and build upon it, but we must constantly be making the most of the gift of the present as we lean into what might be as we listen and respond to God’s call. “I adopted onward…when I first went to work for the church in 2000. It was intended to mark a new chapter in my life focused on doing everything I could to help make God’s vision of shalom tangible. It came from an old hymn we used to sing when I was a kid,

“Onward to Zion” (Community of Christ Sings, 390). Onward to Zion faithful and strong; Zion the beautiful beckons us on
