He and Sharon enjoyed raising their four children and in later years traveling and fun-filled times with their grandchildren. When their family came to Missouri every summer for Church Reunion it was a special happiness for Clyde. He loved his family. As a couple they studied Church History and together made many trips to the historical sites dear to the Saints. Anyone who was acquainted with Clyde knew he was an avid Tennessee Vol fan and remained loyal to Rocky Top all of his life.

Clyde lived in Port Huron all of his school years, graduating from Port Huron High School in January 1952. He then went to work at Aikman's Sunbeam Bakery in Port Huron. He left Port Huron at 21 yrs of age to attend the American Institute of Baking, which was then in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from A. I. B. in 1955.

He spent 18 years with LeSaffre working all over the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. He retired in 2004. After retirement, he continued working as a technical consultant for many years. Clyde enjoyed the years traveling to many bakeries, using his experience to help the Bakers improve their operations. Clyde was greatly sought after for his expertise in correcting problems in bakeries. He worked in approximately 800 different bakeries during his 18 years with the LeSaffre Corporation.

Clyde furthered his knowledge by attending continuing education classes at the American Institute of Baking in Manhattan, Kansas. He also attended numerous baking seminars, management training seminars, conventions, and production meetings to keep up-to-date with new processes and techniques. He was well respected and made many friends throughout his years in the baking industry, and was invited to come back to bakeries as often as his schedule permitted. After complete retirement, Clyde had a full kitchen and bakery built, to his specifications, in his new home where he continued to bake for his friends.

He was baptized a member of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, June 25, 1967 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was ordained to the office of Deacon on August, 10, 1979; to the office of Priest on June 28, 1981; and to the office of Elder on October 23, 1983. He served faithfully in all of these callings. He also served as Bishop's Agent and Pastor of the Oak Ridge, Tennessee congregation. He and Sharon moved to Independence in 1988 and became charter members of the South Crysler Restoration Branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
