ZIONWORKS NEWS MAY 30, 2023

FEEDING GOD’S PEOPLE

Hello everyone,

The prophecies of Zion’s return and the descriptions of the conditions on the earth when God’s people will simply give themselves to its physical building and working and living cooperatively…those prophecies stand as permanent testimonies that cannot be erased. The personal decision to work together with other like-minded saints is a physical response to Spiritual direction. Yes, God will again bring his Zion, AND he always uses people to do it. HE has the big overall plan and all of the small details. Every person involved already has important roles and duties, many of which we will discover or magnify “on the job”. It is the will and desire that qualifies people to do the work. This is the most exciting and fulfilling opportunity that exists among us. ‘Looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting, June 4th, which will, by the way, reveal part of God’s plan and practical means to put it into production.

NEXT MEETING: Sunday, June 4th at Zarahemla Branch in Blue Springs at 2:00 pm. At the meeting, Bob Moore will present an outline for Zionic living and thriving through coming disasters. This will be very interesting, reinforcing and encouraging. Bob has offered the use of six of his acres for a permaculture enterprise for the purpose of feeding the “the saints”. Zarahemla Branch is located at 502 S.W. 17th St. in Blue Springs.

JUNE 11th ZIONWORKS MEETING: 2:00 pm at Central Branch, 919 S. Delaware, Independence. On the agenda will be discussion on trade and barter, and on the work presently being done. There will also be much discussion. Bring items for bartering. These items can be anything that could be interesting or useful.

QUOTES

Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it will accomplish that which I please and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

Summer Clothing needed for Women's Shelter

Summer Clothing needed for Women's Shelter

Gently used Summer Clothing needed for Women's Shelter

I am doing a clothing drive for a very worthy cause: Rose Brooks Center in Kansas City, a safe shelter for victims of domestic violence, with their children, and their pets. They also provide support and resources for many needy families in the community around them.

I am collecting gently used women's and children's SUMMER clothing of all sizes. NO tears, stains, or holes, PLEASE! There is a special need right now for girl's summer clothing size 2T-5T as well as gently used tennis shoes (all sizes, but especially children's).

Would you please go through your closets and find items you or your kids no longer wear that could help fill these needs? Or perhaps you have gently used items left over from garage sales?

New underwear, socks and PJ’s are always needed, too. You may also donate individually packaged snacks.

I am in the Oak Grove, Missouri, area. You may email me at denorman8165@gmail.com to arrange drop off/pick up of local items. THANK YOU for helping those in need!

Matthew 25:41 And the king shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Sincerely,
Debbie Norman

Jacob’s Well and the Waters of Mormon

 From: Dwight & Pam Burford

dpburford@all4liberty.net

Jacob’s Well and the Waters of Mormon

Chapter 6 of the on-line book, Why Look to “the Stick of Joseph” as a Standard, is now available at:

https://hisworkmanship.net/why-look-to-the-stick-of-joseph-as-a-standard-chapter-6/

Entitled “Jacob’s Well and the Waters of Mormon,” this next chapter is about Jacob’s prophecy in Genesis 49:22 of his son Joseph being a fruitful bough by a well. Quoting from the chapter’s introduction:

“Through the Book of Mormon, God has revealed the fountain of pure water in Mormon as the well Jacob spoke of prophetically in his birthright blessing of his son. This unique fountain and its relationship to Joseph were typified by Jacob’s well, located in ancient Samaria near Sychar as mentioned in the book of John.

“Details of the fountain of pure water in Mormon’s abridgment confirm Jacob’s blessing of Joseph. They show how descendants of Joseph obtained, through faith, the precious land and well included in the blessing Jacob placed on his son’s head. More importantly, these details show how a remnant of his descendants obtained salvation by faith in their Redeemer at Mormon’s fountain.

“With the advent of the Book of Mormon, the Lord has thus restored the knowledge of His promises to Jacob and to Joseph for the purpose of fulfilling His remaining covenant promises to them. Through the words of this unique book, the Lord God of Israel is now manifesting Himself as the Word of God to Joseph’s posterity in Joseph’s land as well as to all Israel and the world at large.”

In Abraham, God had found a man willing to stand in the gap by faith on His words. Though many of his posterity would remain carnal, sensual, and devilish, yet remnants would be found faithful to God’s covenant with Abraham by upholding God’s word with their lives. Those who followed Abraham by exercising faith in God’s promises became his children by the very same faith.

God’s covenant with Abraham has substance, real substance, being filled with exquisite detail and form. It contains structure at every level—as does all of God’s creation—when viewed from the vantage point of all scripture (not just a few select verses). In other words, God’s covenant with Abraham is not, as some like to portray it, the consistency of a jellyfish or a blob of mush, having little or no structure or complexity.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is truly majestic! A person who particularly revealed this majesty was Joseph, Abraham’s great grandson. As noted in Chapter 1 of this book, it has been observed by others that Joseph’s life prefigured certain aspects of the life and ministry of the Messiah promised to Abraham. Chapter 6 of the current study continues the exploration of how Joseph’s life foreshadowed Abraham’s Redeemer for the latter-day healing and restoration of Israel’s household.

God’s course is one eternal round, with the first being last and the last being first; of which Joseph’s life is no exception. In reviewing the amazing cycle of God’s work of redemption revealed by the grafting of both natural and wild branches in a cycle in an olive tree in Romans 11, the Apostle Paul would conclude by exclaiming:

Romans 11:33-36 – O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counselor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things; to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Yes, Paul’s words assure us that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not at all without complexity of structure and details! Remember, also, that according to the gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord fulfilled the law of Moses completely, fulfilling every jot and tittle. The covenants of God will all be fulfilled in turn and according to the timing of God, for He is a God of truth and cannot lie.

Notwithstanding the warnings of the prophets, there are however people who have left the rod of iron (the word of God) to wander into forbidden paths by following after the doctrine of devils and the commandments of men. Having become blinded to the truth, some have even become blind guides to others. Therefore, the Spirit of the Lord calls anew, “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” Those who heed this call are the true children of Abraham.

God’s richest blessing in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Dwight Burford

Reunion Shelter Needed

Janet Williams and three of her youngest grandchildren are hoping to go to the CMRB Reunion at Odessa Hills June 3-10. We signed up for a cabin but the cabins filled up right before we signed up. We are way down on the cancellations list for getting a cabin at this time. We are wondering if anyone is willing to provide us with a camper or a tent to stay in for the week. We are very excited to attend the reunion but don't have a tent or a camper and haven't heard that a cabin has been made available. If you would be so gracious as to help us in this matter.

Please call Janet at 816-724-7600
Thank you so much for your consideration and prayers on our behalf.

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD MAY 25, 2023

 From: Paul Gage

pauljg_64055@yahoo.com

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD MAY 25, 2023

Hello and best wishes for God’s best Blessings,

We are told by Jesus Christ to partake of the Sacrament emblems in remembrance of Him. Not only to remember Him and His Mighty works, but also to keep His commandments. All of them. Jesus said that if we love Him, we must keep His commandments. Jesus also said that people would know we are His disciples if we love Him and keep His commandments.

Monday, May 29, 2023 is Memorial Day in the United States of America. A day designated by law for the purpose of remembering those who have given their lives in defense of this nation, but also for remembering all those who have gone before us. William Federer has a great read today regarding Memorial Day. Just go to American Minute.

So, you might say, what does all this have to do with “Living in the Kingdom of God? Everything has to do with living in the Kingdom. The scripture for today, from the “Jesus and Me in 2023”daily devotional guide is Doctrine and Covenants 45. In verse one we read, “Hearken, O ye people of my church to whom the kingdom has been given…” Take some time, today, and refresh your memory of this vital scripture.

If the kingdom has been given to us, then we must be living in the kingdom of God. This should be reflected in all that we do so that everyone we have contact with can and will see us as citizens of the kingdom and thus true disciples of Jesus Christ. This means every aspect of our lives. Some might say, what about the little things?

What little things? Not respecting those in authority over us. A park ranger asks us not to feed the geese. He says it is not a law, but a request from those who care for the park and animals. We feed them anyway, even bread which is not good for them. Oh that is just a little thing. If we disregard this request from a person in authority, what impact does that have on our obedience to God’s commandments, like “love your neighbor…?”

What little things? Like exceeding the speed limit. But they say they will allow us five miles over the limit. It is just a little thing, but what impact does it have on keeping God’s commandments? The list could go on and on in each phrase of our daily life,

What little things? Spilled milk and hasty thoughts, didn’t get my way and curt, hurtful comments, judgment without the facts, etc. All these kinds of things are indicators of how easy it is to become “out of tune” with God and the Holy Spirit. By the way, this Sunday is “Pentecost,” fifty days after the Resurrection of Jesus. Read Acts 1 and 2 and 3Nephi 9:10-16.

Roy Weldon, in his experience about the Word of Wisdom, said, “Like the average Latter Day Saint, I interpreted it more or less according to my own likes and dislikes…” DC 83:8a tells us the Church was placed under condemnation “because you have treated lightly the things you have received…” There were other reasons also, but misuse of “little things” can lead to “big problems.”

Trust and Obey, for there’s no other way to demonstrate kingdom living.

God Bless
Paul Gage
