Richard Vance Reeves Jr Obituary

 From: Angela Reeves Fidler

Richard Vance Reeves Jr Obituary

Richard Vance Reeves Jr of Independence MO, a father and man who loved the lord passed away Wednesday July 27, 2022. He was 73 years young. Richard entered this world September 8, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His parents were members of the RLDS church and decided to move to Independence, MO when he was 5 years old. Richard chose to join the Marines right after graduating high school and was shipped off to Vietnam. His time in Vietnam was when he was brought closer to God. Richard loved sports and watching his daughters play. Once Richard was given grandkids, he loved watching them play and tried diligently to not miss a game. Richard was actively involved in his church. He loved bringing the gospel to all and traveled the country preaching to various congregations. He was always willing to bring the word of God to anyone asking. Richard loved playing the guitar and loved playing music to anyone that would listen. He played in a Bluegrass band for as long as his hands would hold up. Richard loved his family and was non-wavering in his faith.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Richard V Reeves Sr and Ethel Bollinger. Richard is survived by his daughters Angela Fidler, Christine Meyers and Alicia Reeves. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Thursday August 4th at South Crysler Restoration Church located at 16101 E Salisbury Road, Independence MO 64050 at 10:00 a.m. and a service will follow.

Condolences: We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Richard here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. ZIONWORKS NEWS July 28, 2022

“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour. Let them, therefore, who are among the Gentiles, flee unto Zion.” D&C 108:4a

Dear Saints,

The work of the building of the Kingdom is not intended to be done by a small exclusive group. The work Zionworks is moving ahead with is assigned by Christ to the entire church. The work of making Zion a physical reality is expedient now. People are gathering in. Those who don’t want to take up arms against their neighbor to protect themselves from violence, riots and hatred in the streets and on the earth are told by Christ that they “must needs flee unto Zion.” The saints have been instructed to build this city of safety and refuge to flee to. Who are these saints so instructed? Or should we ask, where are they hiding? Or more pointedly, what are they hiding behind? Zionworks is simply the name of this gathering of spiritually and physically dedicated saints offering their skills and resources to provide a place of safety and refuge, with the responsibility to see that obedient saints can survive through the violence, starvation, disease, exposure, warfare and collapse of civil order that is eminent. The scriptures give good guidance and instruction for these prophesied, and now occurring, calamities.

A surprising result of our gathering together to pray for Zion, pray for guidance, pray for each other, pray for God’s children, and lay on hands as needed, is the remarkable blessing and presence of the Spirit, and healings. We should probably tell you about these healings before they become too numerous to tell. Actually, our moving ahead with physical preparation has been out-shined by the spiritual blessings. Another surprising result is that we have fun together and find excitement in learning facts and skills and working together. Many, many more people are needed to make survival possible for the saints. Please investigate this endeavor and tell others about it. Our next monthly meeting is coming up this Sunday afternoon, July 31, at 2:00 at Atherton.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

There will NOT be a prayer meeting Friday night, July 30

Next meeting, the monthly meeting, will be at the Atherton Branch this coming Sunday, July 31st at 4910 N. Main St. at 2:00 pm. If scheduling your lunch and getting to the meeting create a logistics crunch, you may bring your lunch to eat before the start of the meeting. We will be deliberating on the logistics and specifics of preparation and thriving through coming crisis. It is planned that there will be a video on freeze drying food for storage and a look at a freeze dryer. There will be ample time for discussion and after adjournment, ample time to visit and interact at the bartering table and show-and-tell table. (Bring anything you would like to barter with and anything interesting for show-and-tell).

Remember, the supply chain collapse is snow-balling and will not fix itself, so STOCK UP on food and supplies.

Bishop’s Cannery, an LDS organization is presently open Tuesdays 9:00 to 5:00 UNTIL STOCK RUNS OUT.

There two Amish stores in Windsor, MO that are great to shop at.

Zionworks is in real immediate need for someone that can help with the website.

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JULY 28, 2022

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JULY 28, 2022

Philippians 1:2-11 Grace be unto you and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine, for the steadfastness of you all, making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, Being confident of this very thing: that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ, Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel ye all are partakers of my grace. For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment, That ye may approve things that are excellent, that ye may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

As we are now closer to 2023 than 2021, how are we, you, me, doing in our efforts to “build up the Kingdom of God and to establish His righteousness?” Are we tightening our seat belts or just “hanging in there?” Are we planning and preparing or just hoping everything will work out for us. Things will definitely “work out” but how depends on our efforts to be ready. The redemption of Zion requires a people whose goodness shines in their faces and is confirmed by their actions. If we, of the Restoration, who in general live below our potential, truly had the light of the gospel in our faces and thus in our lives, the good and righteous from all nations would flock to join us. We all know it is difficult to be that light in our everyday world, but that is our calling. Jesus said, “I give unto you to be the light and the salt’” Matthew 5, Inspired Version.

A church member neighbor shared a testimony with me this week. It was a dream he had while in the hospital. He was crawling on the ground, it was dark, the wind was blowing strongly and blowing objects into his face. He did not know where he was. As he slowly crawled along, his head hit something very hard. He looked up to see a rock and heard a voice that said, “this is the Rod of Iron” take hold. As he did so, he pulled himself along until he was at the feet of Jesus.

Jesus is the Rock, the Rod of Iron, the Way, the Truth, the Light and Life. As a hymn states, “On Christ, the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand. Don’t sink, stand firm in and for the Lord and His Kingdom.

God be with you always, is His promise,
Paul Gage

Urgent Prayer Request for Ray Lavigne

This is for Todd's dad, Ray Lavigne. This is the information that we have:

Ray was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning around 1am. He is not able to breathe on his own and is on a BiPAP machine. They will be pulling the BiPAP machine within the next few hours to see if there is any voluntary breathing. The doctors at this point are doubtful. If this is the case, they will put him on a ventilator. Years ago, Ray signed a DNR. He is non-responsive but is in a complete state of deliriumm. He is 67 years old. As a family, we request prayers that God's will be done and that no matter His will, we'll be accepting of that will and are able to see His grace and love and mercy.
