AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS AUGUST 2022

AROUND AND ABOUT THE CENTRE PLACE
By High Priest Paul J. Gage, of Independence, Missouri

Hello Lovely Saints in Australia,

I hope and trust that our gracious Heavenly Father continues to bless each of you with His mighty love and power. Here we are in the middle of Summer and it is pretty warm in the Centre Place, not only the weather. Some very things have been and are going in in the Independence, Missouri area.

The Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE) used the theme: “Take Upon You the Name of Christ and Run the Race.” There were some very good sermons and classes. The CRE will be in the spring in 2023, March 29-April 1, 2023 at Center Place Restoration School (CPRS)/Waldo Avenue RB. Most everything was on live streamand can be viewed at the CRE website. Eldersconference.org

The Pastors of Zion (POZ) are sponsoring the Summer Series each Sunday night preaching from June 12-August 21, 2022. It is held at CPRS/Waldo Avenue RB and all services are live streamed and can be viewed on the Waldo website. Elder Dan Schwartz from the Belton RB was the speaker on July 10, 2022.

Four to eight Branches in the Independence area meet together on the first Sunday night and third Wednesday night of each month. Services and those presiding are rotated from branch to branch. Some of the branches are Hill Cumorah, Living Hope, Missionary, Outreach, and Waldo.

Independence is Alive and Well is an effort by a number of different churches and people to help “clean up the city” and assist the homeless. They refer to the homeless as, “The Beloveds.” A number of Restorationists are involved.

CPRS is out for the summer and gearing up to begin the 31st year of operation. Things seem to be going very well. Brother Dan Schoenemann will continue as the administrator.

God Bless

RICHES FROM THE SCRIPTURES

By Elder Neil Kerswell, of Queensland, Australia

Vol 5 Chapter 17 The Widows Oil & the Shunammite Woman

Our scripture today is about Elisha, who through God’s help, met the needs of two women in great requirement of a blessing from the Lord. Readings like this are good for strengthening our own faith in times of need. Life can be very hard and difficult, and during these times we can have brought to our memory what God has done for others which in turn can inspire us to have faith and hope and prayers we are able to believe in. Let’s look at the life of a woman that had lost her husband and was in debt she couldn’t pay off.

[2 Kings 4:1] Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord; and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
[2 Kings 4:2] And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil.
[2 Kings 4:3] Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
[2 Kings 4:4] And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
[2 Kings 4:5] So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
[2 Kings 4:6] And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her. There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
[2 Kings 4:7] Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.
The circumstances of this woman were, that when her husband was alive and providing for his family they were secure and able to pay their debts and he was a man of God, however with his untimely death the family found themselves in desperate times, not through any fault of their own. No mercy was shown from the creditors who were willing to take away her sons. The widow cried for help and God heard her need and answered through the ministry of His servant Elisha. Some acts of faith were required to enact and unleash the blessing. Which the family did as asked. God then caused the Oil to multiply and fill every vessel they had and the ones they borrowed, which allowed the Widow to not only pay off her debt but have some to provide for their needs, What an incredible blessing, what a testimony the family now had. Let’s look at the life of another woman.
[2 Kings 4:8] And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that, as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
[2 Kings 4:9] And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.
[2 Kings 4:10] Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick; and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
[2 Kings 4:11] And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.
There was a goodness in this Shunammite woman, that moved her heart to be sensitive to Elisha being a Holy man of God. This experience moved her to want to make room for him in their own house so he had somewhere to rest from his journey out of the elements.
[2 Kings 4:12] And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.
[2 Kings 4:13] And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee; wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
[2 Kings 4:14] And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.
[2 Kings 4:15] And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.
[2 Kings 4:16] And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
[2 Kings 4:17] And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.
[2 Kings 4:18] And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.
[2 Kings 4:19] And he said unto his father, My head, my head! And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.
[2 Kings 4:20] And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.
[2 Kings 4:21] And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.
[2 Kings 4:22] And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.
[2 Kings 4:23] And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him today? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.
[2 Kings 4:24] Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward, slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee.
[2 Kings 4:25] So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite;
[2 Kings 4:26] Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? and she answered, It is well.
[2 Kings 4:27] And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet; but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed within her; and the Lord hath hid it from me, and hath not told me.
[2 Kings 4:28] Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me?
[2 Kings 4:29] Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way; if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again; and lay my staff upon the face of the child.
[2 Kings 4:30] And the mother of the child said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her.
[2 Kings 4:31] And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.
[2 Kings 4:32] And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed.
[2 Kings 4:33] He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the Lord.
[2 Kings 4:34] And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands; and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.
[2 Kings 4:35] Then he returned and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him; and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.
[2 Kings 4:36] And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son.
[2 Kings 4:37] Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.
This is another great blessing from God through the ministry of Elisha the prophet of God. The blessing didn’t come in an instant it came through Elisha seeking God in prayer and then acting in faith believing until the child was saved alive. May all who have read, be blessed as they consider these miracles God has done in the past and that what he has done for others he can do for you if there is the faith to

receive, This woman told her husband all would be well, then made haste to catch up to Elisha. May you be blessed is my prayer in Jesus name, Amen.
CHRIST RAISETH LAZARUS
By Elder Murray Broughton, Kelvin View Branch, Euroa, Victoria
John 11:1-6
1 Now a certain man was sick, whose name was Lazarus, of the town of Bethany;
2 And Mary, his sister, who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, lived with her sister Martha, in whose house her brother Lazarus was sick.
3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. 4 And when Jesus heard he was sick, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 And Jesus tarried two days, after he heard that Lazarus was sick, in the same place where he was.
John 11:11-14
11 These things said he; and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death; but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
John 11:17-29
17 And when Jesus came to Bethany, to Martha's house, Lazarus had already been in the grave four days. 18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off.
19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him; but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. 23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live;
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord; I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 As soon as Mary heard that Jesus was come, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
John 11:32-45
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
34 And said, Where have ye laid him, They say unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh; for he hath been dead four days.
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always; but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave- clothes; and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them. Loose him, and let him go.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

The Scattered Saints

The Son ~ Author Unknown

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare inspirational works of art. They had Everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together, sharing stories about the great works of art.
When the Viet Nam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.
About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands. He said, "Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart, and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for inspirational art."
The young man held out his package.
"I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this."
The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the portrait.
"Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift."
The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home, he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected. The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings. Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great inspirational paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection. On the platform sat the painting of the son.
The auctioneer pounded his gavel. "We will start the bidding with this portrait of the son. Who will bid for this painting?" There was silence. Then a voice in the back of the room shouted. "We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one." But the auctioneer persisted. "Will someone bid for this painting? Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?" Another voice shouted angrily. "We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Goghs, the Rembrandts. Get on with the real bids!" But still the auctioneer continued. "The son! The son! Who'll take the son?"
Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the long-time gardener of the man and his son. "I'll give $10 for the painting." Being a poor man, it was all he could afford. "We have $10, who will bid $20?" "Give it to him for $10. Let's see the masters." "$10 is the bid, won't someone bid $20?"
The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the painting of the son. They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections. The auctioneer pounded the gavel. "Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!" A man sitting on the second row shouted. "Now let's get on with the collection!"
The auctioneer laid down his gavel.
"I'm sorry, the auction is over. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the inspirational paintings. The man who took the son gets everything!"
God gave his son 2,000 years ago to die on a cruel cross. Much like the auctioneer, His message today is, "The son, the son, who'll take the son?"
