For those of you who are uncertain about what school will look like this fall let me offer you a tiny portion of the solution.  American Sign Language.  Learning a foreign language can sometimes be overwhelming, but I am here to let you know that I have been teaching sign language as a foreign language for 30 years.  Though learning is now done online it is still fun.  So if you are considering teaching your child/children at home let me offer a fun, visual new beautiful language that can be useful in every aspect of life.  Classes are taught via: Skype, Facetime, or Messenger.  Each class is 30 minutes twice a week or 1 hour a week depending on the ages.  Payment is per hour each week via Facebook messenger, cash, or Venmo.  I also have Square, but they charge a fee.

AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS September 2020

AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS

              SEPTEMBER.  2020.

Around and About the Centre Place                 by High Priest Paul J. Gage, Independence, Missouri.

God's Blessings upon all the Saints of Australia,

I trust the good Lord God Almighty has been and continues to bless each of you in His special way,  as you go through each day. I doubt there is a person in the world who does not have daily struggles in dealing with life. How marvellous it is that we have Jesus Christ as our Savior, Shepherd, Light, Life, and all the other names by which He is known. I love, so much, the promise in DC 83:15 C. It tells us that there is no part of our lives that go without His watch care and protection. Also, angels around us to bear us up.

Brothers and Sisters, of all ages, don't ever forget how valuable and precious you are, as one individual, to our Lord, Jesus Christ. He knows our every struggle, doubt, fear, concern, etc. and is always true to His promise. He was praying for each of us in John 17:20. As He was praying for the disciples then, He prayed for you and me, because it says, " For them also which shall believe on Me through their word." We know the disciples, after Jesus ascended into Heaven, took the gospel to the world and the Church was established in many areas, and the rest is history. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ today because someone shared the same gospel they had received from another and so the gospel is now to us in our day to share with all we can.

Jesus came to save us from our sins, so He knew we would sin. Many times we get down on ourselves and feel unworthy. That is when we need to go to God in mighty prayer and repentance and ask forgiveness for our sins. It is a promise that when we sincerely repent, He will forgive us. I like the scripture in Philippians 1 especially verse six. Read the whole chapter and be revived in Christ. You can pull up the lyrics to this song on the net. Look for "He who began a good work in you". I also like 1Corinthians 10:13 for the promise of Jesus. Many people misquote this verse by leaving off the last sentence. He shows us the way out of temptation.  That verse is the same in the King James Version as it is in the Inspired Version, so no follower of Christ has to remain "lost," because the "way out" is to run to Jesus.

The reunion and camp season, what there was of it,  is history....His Story! There were good reports from those areas that were able to have a camp or reunion. Do you have a testimony of "His Story?" Share it. The Pastors of Zion Summer preaching series has also concluded. It was cut short this year and only ran from June 28-August 16. There were some excellent sermons during the series as well as at the CRE Zoom reunion. Many services were live-streamed and are available for viewing. The website is : http://www.waldoavenuerestorationbranch.org.or you can go to the CRE website which is eldersconference.org

With the virus "scare" all the schools, including CPRS have been closed since April and some are just now beginning to start back for the fall. Centre Place Restoration School has started the fall session under the leadership of Brother Dan Schoenemann. This is his fifth year.

September is a very important month, for the Church, because it was September 21, 1823, that Joseph Smith Jr was visited by an angel and told about the plates, from which came the Book of Mormon. You can find Joseph's testimony of this marvellous experience in Church History, Volume 1, Chapter 2. This would be a good time for each church member to review this part of our history. If you don't have the Church History Volumes, you can pull it up on CenterPlace.org and go to the library.

The annual CRE priesthood retreat to Kirtland has been cancelled this year in favour of the Solemn Assembly scheduled for Independence, Missouri September 26-27, 2020 at CPRS/WALDO. The Solemn Assembly has been well publicized with information in the Tidings of Zion Issue # 131. Reports regarding the Solemn Assembly will be in the next Tidings as well as on the CRE website.

The missionary groups are all still functioning, but have been greatly limited due to the virus and travel restrictions. Only God knows when the missionaries will be able to travel abroad again.  To God be the Glory! May the Lord be praised for all the blessings received!

Riches from the Scriptures            by Elder Neil Kerswell, Queensland, Australia.

Vol 4 Chapter 13     Pray in Faith

Today we are going to look at some interesting Scriptures to do with Praying in Faith and some things we need to consider. As we have shared in times past, I believe Faith is a gift, yes God expects us to have faith, to exercise faith, however he assists us if we have a sincere heart.

James.5:13-16

[James 5:13] Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

[James 5:14] Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;

[James 5:15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.                                                                                                           [James 5:16] Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.                                                                             In this instance when speaking of the sick, we are counselled to call for the Elders who have authority to anoint with oil, lay on hands and pray for those in need. There is promise of healing, forgiveness of Sins, then verse 16 counsels us to confess our faults and pray for one another to be healed and that the prayer of the Righteous avails much. I do believe verse 16 is the key that cannot be overridden. The reason I say this, is we are told in other places that we must confess our sins and repent of them, turn away from them, make things right with our fellow man and also ask God then to forgive us. He promises then he will. So when in Verse 15 it says if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. This would be on the grounds that we have followed God’s commandments prior and truly repented of our sins in preparation for the Administration by the Elders, then truly our sins can be forgiven, and healing be our experience. The same goes for the Elders, they too need to be always in a state of repentance. This is why it says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much, whether it be our loved ones in the faith or the Elders we all rely upon the merits of Christ to have righteousness in us. I can bare testimony that when all these areas of faith align miracles can happen. Many years ago at a Reunion a young lady asked for administration as she was going down with a flu/virus of some sort and didn’t want this to be her reunion experience, We anointed her head with oil, laid our hands on her head and prayed the anointing and confirmation, the faith of all present at Reunion were there on her behalf. There had been much preparation by all because of the reunion, including the young lady. As we stood back from her it was clear she had been completely healed instantly in front of us as witnesses to God’s goodness. This lady got up and enjoyed the rest of the camp experience with great health. God through the name of Christ performed this miracle. For me it was a faith raiser for the rest of the Reunion.

Acts 8:17-25

[Acts 8:17] Then laid they their hands on them and they received the Holy Ghost.                              [Acts 8:18] And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given he offered them money,                                                                                                      [Acts 8:19] Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.                                                                                                                                                     [Acts 8:20] But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money                                                                                               [Acts 8:21] Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter; for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.                                                                                                                                                                       [Acts 8:22] Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, If perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee [Acts 8:23] For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.                                                                                                                                         [Acts 8:24] Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.                                                                                                       [Acts 8:25] And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

 What a lesson Simon learnt this day. He could see that Power was given through the Apostles hands and he wanted some of this action for himself and was even prepared to pay good money for it. Sadly he had completely missed the importance of Authority given by God to His servants in priesthood. By doing this (trying to take honour unto himself that wasn’t his), he brought a world of punishment down upon himself. The only way Simon could possibly escape this was to repent of his wickedness.

D&C 34: 3b-4d                                                                                                                                                                                          [Sec 34:3b] for I am God, and mine arm is not shortened, and I will show miracles, signs and wonders, unto all those who believe on my name.                                                                                                            [Sec 34:3c] And whoso shall ask it in my name, in faith, they shall cast out devils; they shall heal the sick; they shall cause the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak, and the lame to walk;

[Sec 34:3d] and the time speedily cometh that great things are to be shown forth unto the children of men; but without faith shall not anything be shown forth except desolations upon Babylon, the same which has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

[Sec 34:3e] And there are none that doeth good except those who are ready to receive the fullness of my gospel, which I have sent forth unto this generation.

[Sec 34:4a] Wherefore, I have called upon the weak things of the world, those who are unlearned and despised, to thresh the nations by the power of my Spirit;                                                                              [Sec 34:4b] and their arm shall be my arm, and I will be their shield and their buckler, and I will gird up their loins, and they shall fight manfully for me;                                                                                          [Sec 34:4c] and their enemies shall be under their feet; and I will let fall the sword in their behalf; and by the fire of mine indignation will I preserve them.                                                                                                     [Sec 34:4d] And the poor and the meek shall have the gospel preached unto them, and they shall be looking forth for the time of my coming, for it is nigh at hand;

God has promised marvellous things if we believe and have faith and if we don’t have faith, we shall receive the desolations upon Babylon. There are none that do good except those willing to receive the fullness of the Gospel. In other words it is only possible to become righteous through the indwelling of the Holy Ghost in our lives through the power of the Restored Gospel. God has chosen the weak things of the world to do His work. We need to be always looking forth for the time of Christ’s coming.

D&C 52:9c

[Sec 52:9c] And remember in all things, the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted, for he that doeth not these things, the same is not my disciple.

This is an area where it is very easy to fall short of what God Requires.

D&C 125:15c

[Sec 125:15c] Pray over the sick, anoint them with oil, as commanded in the law, and leave them in my hands, that the Spirit may deal with them according to my wisdom.

Finally it is important to remember God has agency in all situations in life and often gives a blessing we weren’t expecting. I remember being asked to assist in administration with a non-member who had very advanced cancer. When we arrived he was terrified like a cat on a hot tin roof. We shared with him and then administered to him. I felt peace and the man calmed down a little, while we were there. After a short visit we left. That night I received a call from the church family who were friends with this man to say he had passed away. At first I thought oh no I was hoping he would be healed and that the peace felt there had meant that. However the wife of this man told the church family who knew him that he became at peace when we left and went into a peaceful sleep and passed away. She was thankful for the blessing because he had been so afraid before then. I learnt from this that God’s plan and blessing is not always what we expect, and we need to see the blessing in it and give thanks.

May God be with you is my prayer in Jesus name    Amen.

 Now these things he spake unto them, concerning the destruction of Jerusalem. And then his disciples asked him, saying, Master, tell us concerning thy coming.? And he answered them, and said, In the generation in which the times of the Gentiles shall be fulfilled, there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity, like the sea and the waves roaring. The earth also shall be troubled, and the waters of the great deep; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth, For the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for the day of your redemption draweth nigh.
