Solemn Assembly Clarification and Apology

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

In the recent pamphlet, A Call to a Solemn Assembly: Sixty Days of Preparation for the Solemn Assembly, prepared by the Conference of Restoration Elders, I included a portion of an article written by Michael Brown titled Solemn Assemblies of God’s People, without asking his permission The intent for including it was to provide a concise description of what a solemn assembly is, and its purpose.

However, because of its inclusion in the pamphlet, there is now a perception that Brother Brown is endorsing and promoting the solemn assembly, which is not accurate. While he is not opposed to a solemn assembly, or to those who support this one, he does not have a personal testimony of the call for this solemn assembly, and so he doesn’t want there to be the impression that he is actively supporting it.

I have apologized and asked for forgiveness from Brother Brown for using a portion of his article without permission, and putting him in an awkward position. He has accepted my apology, and with this statement, I hope and pray that his position, and this matter, has been sufficiently clarified.

Sincerely,
Vim Horn
