FASTING AND PRAYING FOR THE KINGDOM - August 15

FASTING AND PRAYING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD

August 15, 2020

The High Priests of the Restoration Branches as well as many other groups and branches have asked the Saints to observe each Sunday as a day of fasting and prayer. There are many reasons for asking the Saints to fast and pray. The ultimate objective, however, is for the return of Jesus Christ in His Glory and the establishment of His Kingdom (Zion) on earth.

Also, we are preparing for the Solemn Assembly scheduled for September 26-27, 2020. Hopefully, the Sixty Days of Preparation guidelines will help keep us on track. We often find, that after we start a program or plan that we get bogged down or run into detours. The theme of the first day was "The Basics." The basics include realizing that we are sinners and must repent to be in the presence of God. One person said that they strive to be in a mode of constant repentance, for we know that the slightest thing can draw our attention away from God. Day three's theme was "In His Image." In Alma chapter 3, he asks of the church, "Have you received His image in your countenance? How do we receive His image in our countenance? Perhaps through diligent efforts to love God with all we have and in that process, keep all His commandments as He has commanded. Today we are on the 20th day of our 60 days of preparation for the Solemn Assembly. How is your progress?

Most, if not all of us, received a little book when we were Baptized of the Holy Spirit. It is called, "Church Member's Manual." Find your copy and read the chapter entitled, "The Goal of Zion-the Kingdom of God." This has been our purpose for Fasting and Praying for the Kingdom of God. In the midst of the world's tribulation, do you sense, we are closer to the Kingdom?

DC 43 is a most powerful section. Read it thoroughly. It begins with "Hearken and give ear." It tells us to "bind yourselves to act in all holiness before me." How do we do that? We are then told to, "Purge out the iniquity which is among you." How do we do that?

A song was written some years ago entitled, If Jesus Came to Your House Today" and another one similar asked, "What Would You Do, If Jesus Came to Spend Some Time with You?" What would we need to change in all aspects of our lives, if we KNEW Jesus was coming to our house? You can look these songs up on the net and read the words.

We do know that Jesus is coming back soon and we cannot wait until we hear the trumpet sound. Today is the day and each day. God be with you in your efforts for His Kingdom.
