Restored Gospel Podcast new series on Temples

rpg

We are excited to share the first video in a series on temples. Temples are a huge part of Latter Day Saint culture. The Old Testament temples and tabernacle can be kind of a mystery. Why did God have Moses build this tabernacle? What was it’s purpose? Where did the idea of a temple first start? How does the garden of Eden tie into the idea of temples? How did Jesus fulfill the purpose of the Temple and how did the temple represent Jesus in every way?

We will look at these questions and more. Finally we will look at our culture and relationship to temples as Latter Day Saints and their importance in our culture.

Free RLDS Books Starting in January!

Free RLDS Books Starting in January!

A friend pressed me a bit last month, asking why we didn't give away free books if someone gave us the books. During 2022 we offered 12 monthly half-price sales, so many customers received what amounted to free books.

Beginning in January, 2023, we are offering one free used book—of equal or lesser value—with the purchase of each new or used book. So you can buy one book and choose a second free book from our stock of used books (about 20,000 of them). We are setting a price limit of $15.00 for the free books.

We are not able to offer free books with the purchase of the new 3 in 1, the new Inspired Version, and a few other titles which are produced by Cumorah Books, Inc. We are simply stewards to distribute those books; they are not ours.

Please browse through the list of ALL RLDS BOOKS on RLDSBooks.blogspot.com to find favorite books for free or to select some books you have never heard of. The price is right!

Maybe this will make my friend happier!

Reminder of Saturday's Scripture Readathon

Reminder of Saturday's Scripture Readathon

We invite the Saints and friends to join us on December 31, in person or in your homes, for an extended period of reading the Word of God. This year we will begin with Chapter 5 of Helaman, continue reading in 3 Nephi, and read as far as we can.

We understand that a Restoration branch in Michigan will be reading with us. And a friend in California said she will be reading, although a couple of time zones behind us.

At Bates City, Missouri, we will meet at 9 a.m. on New Year's Eve and plan to read together until 3 p.m. We invite people to join with us at the Bates City Restoration Branch as much of that time as possible, to bring food for a meal and/or snacks, and to bring their favorite edition of the Book of Mormon.

We will sit around a table (or tables) and take turns reading verses aloud. If someone gets up to get a drink, use the restroom, etc., the reading continues. We will eat in between turns to read because the reading will be our primary focus.

Please call Paul and Dee Ludy at 816-210-8450 or 816-419-4147 if you desire directions, more information, etc.

We pray that we will be blessed as we end 2022 reading from the Word of God!

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD DECEMBER 29, 2022

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD DECEMBER 29, 2022

Hello to all the Dear Saints, wherever you might be today,

As we come to the end of 2022 and look forward to 2023, it is a good time to truly and sincerely reflect on this year. It may be time to analyze how we have lived in the Kingdom of God this year. Where some may be thinking “resolution,” perhaps we should all be thinking, “Revolution.” With obvious signs of the times and in the world, those who truly desire the Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven, need to revolt against our half-hearted efforts on behalf of Zion. God spoke through Israel A. Smith in 1947, in DC 140:5c and told us that Zionic conditions were as close as our spiritual condition.

So, we, each one, must be willing to be honest with ourselves and determine what we are going to change in 2023. The following are some words from a prayer diary. “O God, how can I fold these guilty hands before Thee? How can I pray to Thee with lips that have spoken false and ungracious words? A heart hardened with vindictive passions; an unruly tongue; a fretful disposition; an unwillingness to bear the burdens of others; an undue willingness to let others bear my burdens; high professions joined with low attainments; fine words with shabby thoughts; a friendly face masking a cold heart; many neglected opportunities and many uncultivated talents; much love and beauty unappreciated and many blessings unacknowledged; All these I confess to Thee O God.

Dear Father, let us not dwell so much upon ourselves, our hopes and fears, or even our own sins in Thy sight, but of others who need Thy help and of the work we can do for their sakes in the Kingdom of God. Amen.

This is very important as we have opportunities to share in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper this Sunday, January 1, 2023.

Consider these words as we enter the new year:
What Shall I Wish Thee? By Florence LeClair

What shall I wish thee? Treasures of earth?
Songs in the springtime, Pleasure and mirth?
Flowers on thy pathway, Skies ever clear?
Would this ensure thee A happy new year?

What shall I wish thee? What can be found,
Bringing thee sunshine, All the year round?
Where is the treasure, Lasting and dear,
That shall ensure thee A happy new year?

Faith that increaseth, Walking in light,
Hope that aboundeth, Happy and bright;
Love that is perfect, Casting out fear;
These shall ensure thee A happy new year!

Peace in thy Saviour, Rest at His feet,
Smile of His countenance, Radiant and sweet;
Joy in His presence! Christ ever near!
This will ensure thee A happy new year!
