Evelyn Laila Hagensen Obituary and Service
Evelyn Laila Hagensen, 85, passed away on September 4, 2018, at Center Point Medical Center, Independence. She is survived by her husband, Jack Hagensen, whom she married on February 3, 2007 and step children Leslie Hagensen, Donald Hagensen and LaVonne Loumiet, 11 step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Louise Clark Gregson of Oak Grove, MO. and LaVerne Garfield (Ed) of Makakilo, HI. and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Amelia and Julio Directo, brothers Sonny, Julius, Buddy and Roland Directo and sister Kuulei Rodby.
Born March 18, 1933 in Hilo HI. Laila was number seven of eight children. She graduated from the Independence Sanitarium and was a surgical nurse for 45 years in Independence, MO and Oakland, CA.
Laila was a lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church and attends the Church of Jesus Christ Living Hope Restoration Branch and sang in the choir, sharing her beautiful alto voice.
Laila was very appreciative of the care she received from Sara Cannon / Center Point Centers from the doctors, nurses, and technicians.
After marrying Jack in 2007, Laila was employed by Nature’s Pantry / Natural Grocers. She became famous for her preparation of the best salsa and guacamole.
Laila is remembered for her enthusiastic personality, her abundantly generous heart, her tireless helpful hands , a great sense of humor and a tremendous service to others through her countless hugs and group hugs.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday September 8, 2018.

There will be no visitation before or following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family would accept monetary donations to assist with the medical expenses and funeral costs.
