Sue was born on November 26, 1944, to Donald and Ruby “Charlie” DeTray (Chappel). She was born and raised in Independence, MO graduating from William Chrisman High school. Sue went on to attend Graceland University for two years before completing her bachelor’s degree at Colorado State University. Sue met the love of her life Rich, while attending the wedding of her college roommate. After a long weekend of courtship Rich and Sue were engaged and ended up spending 56 beautiful years together. From that love came four children and eleven grandchildren. Sue and Rich loved to travel, making memories, and going on many adventures. She was a very active member in her church and later in life worked part time with the church Health Ministry. Sue loved to play cards and played canasta every week. More than anything she loved her family and her eleven grandchildren. Sue logged many miles over the years attending swim meets, soccer games, volleyball games, basketball games, football games, baseball games and many, many practices. She loved watching her children and grandchildren compete and was always there to help celebrate the victories and console after the loses. Sue was an endless well of unconditional love for her children and grandchildren and Grandma Sue’s house was a favorite hangout spot for the grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her husband Rich Barclay, children; Kristi Lohr, Karena (Josh) Duett, Charlie (Liz) Barclay, and Kelli Sinthusy, grandchildren; Kailyn, Kelsey, Joshua, Jonas, Audri, Jessica, Kailee, Kobe, Kash, Allison, and Charlie, brother Edward (Kay) DeTray, and sister Betty Pearson-Bush. She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Ruby “Charlie” DeTray and sister Dorothy (Newt) Ward.
