Francis Harper Message for 12/14/2018

Dear Ones,

None of us like to read or hear bad news, but neither should be like the mythical ostrich that hides his head in the sand. We need to watch lest we be swept away with the tide and lost. We are called to be among “the watchers and the holy ones to the intent that the living may know . . .” (Daniel 4:17).

The priesthood are called to be watchmen, even as Jacob who was called by his brother Nephi. “Wherefore, we labored diligently among our people, that we might persuade them to come unto Christ, and partake of the goodness of God . . . For I, Jacob, and my brother Joseph, had been consecrated priests, and teachers of this people by the hand of Nephi. And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads, if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence” (Jacob 1:7, 18-19). “So thou, o son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me” (Ezekiel 33:7).

The people of our nation need to be awakened to their perilous condition and situation. God has decreed: “that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time (the time of this prophecy) henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fullness of his wrath should come upon them . . . And the fullness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity; for behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God, or be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God” (Ether 1:30, 32).

How near are we to being fully ripened in iniquity? The population of the USA was 312 million in 2012. Here are some statistics: Since 1960 we have seen violent crimes increased 463%; out of wedlock births increased 461%; children living in single-parent homes increased 200%; teen suicides increased 200%; welfare recipients increased 150%; cohabitating couples without marriage increased tenfold; divorces have doubled; SAT scores are down 60%; there have been 55-60 million abortions since 1973; homosexuality is exploding. On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court by a 5-4 vote legalized homosexual marriages. Celebrating this landmark decision, President Obama lit up the White House with rainbow colored lights as a show of support! Will the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah befall the USA in coming days? As it was in the days of Lot . . . Even thus shall it be in the day the Son of Man is revealed” (Luke 17:28-30).

On January 30, 2009, I dreamed that I was at a meeting, and a man was weeping as he talked, in a prophetic way, about the future of our country. The word lawlessness was mentioned. I was reminded of the words of Mormon, as he mourned over the condition of his people: “O, the depravity of my people! . . . they are without principle and past feeling . . . I can not any longer enforce my commands [lawlessness]” (Moroni 9:17, 20-21). “. . . how can we expect that God will stay his hand in judgment against us?” (Moroni 9:12). Surely the Lord is weeping over the USA as he wept over Jerusalem (Luke 13:34).

On March 17, 2017, I recorded in my journal: Franklin Graham, son of Evangelist Billy Graham, said, “I believe God’s hand intervened in the 2016 election to stop the godless, atheistic, progressive agenda from taking control of our country.” I agreed. I had said after Donald Trump was nominated that if he gets elected it will be by divine intervention! The results of the 2016 election comforted me. We were reassured that Joseph’s land (the USA) was still being blessed by “the good will of him that dwelt in the bush” (Deuteronomy 33:16).

The Lord promised Abraham he would spare Sodom if only ten righteous souls could be found there. He will also spare our country for the sake of a righteous praying remnant. We must strive to be in that saving remnant. “yea, and I say unto you, that if it were not for the prayers of the righteous, who are now in the land, that ye would even now be visited with utter destruction . . . it is by the prayers of the righteous that ye are spared; now therefore if ye will cast out the righteous from among you, then will not the Lord stay his hand, but in his fierce anger he will come out against you” (Alma 8:31,33).

My Love to All,
Francis Harper

Is the USA a Christian Nation?

On February 29, 1892, the US Supreme Court by a 9-0 vote, declared the United States of America a Christian nation. In a speech given in Ankara, Turkey, in April 2009, Barack H. Obama stated: “The USA is no longer a Christian nation.” He continued, “We are a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims and Buddhists; a nation bound by ideals and a set of values.”

President Obama’s statement disturbed many of the citizens of our great land, especially the Christians. But we need to ask ourselves: Is the USA a Christian nation? If not, why not? If not, what are we going to do about it?

“Unto the righteous (this choice land) shall be blessed forever. And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept from the knowledge of other nations for behold many nations would overrun the land, (happening today) that there would be no place for an inheritance” (2 Nephi 1:15-17).

One of the issues of the 2016 election was building a wall to protect our nation from being overrun by people from other nations. Immigration has become a hotly debated issue. Evidently the Lord is not in favor of entirely open borders surrounding our country.

Lehi, a descendant of Joseph, sold into Egypt; the first prophet mentioned in The Book of Mormon, prophesied of our land. “. . . there shall none come into this land, save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord. Wherefore this is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments (the ten commandments and the great commandments to love God and neighbor) which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them, wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity: if so, it shall be because of iniquity. But unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever. Wherefore I Lehi have obtained a promise, that inasmuch as those whom the Lord shall bring out of the land of Jerusalem (and elsewhere) shall keep his commandments which he hath given, they shall prosper on the face of the land. And they shall be kept from all other nations, that they may possess the land unto themselves. And they shall dwell safely forever (2 Nephi 1:10-21).

The blessings we have received to date in this choice land of America have resulted from the many in our land who have served “the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ” (Ether 1:35). In an address given in Kansas City, October 12, 1966, Henry R. Luce, noted mentor and Christian, associated with Time, Inc., pointed out that “this age is already being called post-Christian, an age that doesn’t know God or how to find Him. Our need is surely the restoration of the faith as our fathers knew it.” He continued, “We have been living off the Christian capital of previous generations.” (Vol. 1, Book of Mormon Deeps. Weldon and Butterworth. Page 32).

The landmark decision made by the U.S. Supreme Court on June 17, 1963, declaring prayer and Bible reading in public schools unconstitutional, was evidence that the USA was becoming a post-Christian nation.
