ZIONWORKS NEWS for MAY 23rd, 2025
LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD MAY 22, 2025
Dear Saints,
May the Lord God Almighty bless you greatly as you seek
to build up the Kingdom of God and establish His righteousness. This was the
commandment Jesus gave to his disciples as recorded in Matthew 6:38. This is
also repeated in 3 Nephi 6:11 though the wording is a little different, and in
Doctrine and Covenants 65 as well as being reinforced in Doctrine and Covenants
102:2 and 9.
What are we then waiting on? The old structured church as
we knew it prior to 1984? Many have ventured off into paths seeking the “Old
church” and so we have many groups going in one direction or another, many
branches going one direction or another, many individuals going in one
direction or another. Thus we see the condition of all those who would have a
place in God’s Kingdom on earth and when Jesus returns in His Glory.
We are assured, by the Lord, that the real success of
having and being a part of His Kingdom lies in the greatest commandment. To
effectively seek first to build up the kingdom of God and to establish His
righteousness must begin with our obedience to the commandment to love God with
ALL we are or ever hope to be. A five-year-old boy was asked on a talk show
about Jesus. He made many astounding statements about Jesus. One being when he
said, “Jesus doesn’t want us to be perfect, He wants us to be honest. An
interesting statement. Some would immediately take issue with that statement,
but can we be perfect without being honest? Honest about our self, not everyone
else. I have to ask myself, as do we all, am I loving God with all my heart,
might, mind and strength. If the answer, as God sees us is yes, then we would
likely be translated. If the answer is no, God has promised He would be with us
to help us achieve that level of love. God’s love.
God’s love transcends all else and we are called upon to
focus our lives on and in the Love of God. It takes us back to all of God’s
promises, “If or when you will, then I will.” as so clearly
stated in Doctrine and Covenants 81:3. We all have to deal with all the
problems and situations of life as have all others who have gone before us and
those living with us in this day and age. Our choice, basically, is no
different than that of Adam and Eve and we have record of many who chose to
love God with their all and many more who chose to go their own way. Our task,
if we are to build up the Kingdom of God and establish His righteousness, then
is to concentrate all our efforts toward loving God with our ALL.
We have direct access to God for guidance and direction.
We have many testimonies of others who have faithfully fought the fight and ran
the race. We have many scriptures, hymns, songs, poems, stories, etc. that are
inspired and thus able to help us in achieving that great desire and hope for
the Kingdom of God on earth, as it is in Heaven. One is entitled “Great is Thy
Faithfulness.” As we acknowledge the faithfulness of God, so He acknowledges
our faithfulness when we are obedient to all His commandments.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father There is no
shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not As Thou
hast been, Thou forever will be
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest Sun, moon
and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great
faithfulness, mercy and love
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth Thine own dear
presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow Blessings
all mine with 10, 000 beside
Great is Thy faithfulness Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided Great is Thy
faithfulness, Lord, unto me
God bless

Judy Mae Kuntz February 23, 1943 — May 3, 2025 Independence Judy Mae Kuntz, 82, passed away on May 3, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. A devoted wife, nurturing mother, adoring grandmother, loyal sister, and cherished friend. Born on February 23, 1943, in Tacoma, Washington, Judy’s life was a beautiful tapestry of compassion, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her kindness was instinctive, her humor contagious, and her energy boundless. Judy’s professional journey began with the Singer Sewing Company in Vancouver, where her love for fashion and textiles came to life. She had a keen eye for detail and a natural talent for making others feel confident. Later, she brought those same gifts to her work with Weight Watchers, where she served as a Leader—motivating, supporting, and genuinely caring for everyone she encountered. She held a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Washington State University. But Judy’s heart was never limited to her work. She gave generously of her time and spirit, volunteering with the cub scouts for many years, always encouraging integrity, adventure, and service in young lives. In 1979, she laced up her running shoes and never looked back—finding joy and purpose on every path, road and race she ran. She loved to share this passion, cheering on others with her trademark enthusiasm and gentle encouragement. She was also a devout Saint to her faith and God through her worship at the The Independence Restoration Branch. To know Judy was to be wrapped in warmth. She was a woman who found delight in life’s simple pleasures—like laughing through Hallmark movies, baking with her grandkids, or sharing stories at the kitchen table. She had a sparkle in her eye and a deep well of love that she poured into every relationship. Her greatest joy, without question, was her family. Judy was the beloved wife of Gary Kuntz, her partner and best friend through decades of love, laughter, and shared dreams. Together they raised their son, Jared, whom she adored, and she welcomed his wife Amy with open arms and a full heart. She was a proud and playful grandma to Kloden and Evelyn, who brought her endless joy and who will carry her love with them always. She was also a loving sister to Connie Sullivan and her husband Jim, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and a deep sisterly bond. Although she faced physical and mental challenges later in life, she never complained. Instead, she approached each obstacle with determination and perseverance, finding practical way to overcome them and achieving remarkable success. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Betts and Zelma Mae Betts, whose gentle guidance and strong values she carried with her throughout her life. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the vibrant, generous, and deeply loving woman she was. Judy’s legacy lives on not only in the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched but also in the quiet strength, compassion, and joy she brought to every moment. She made the world brighter just by being in it. A private cremation is planned, and a Celebration of Life will be held on May 22, 2025 at 2:00pm where she attended church at 707 N Allen Road, Independence MO 64050, where stories will be shared, tears and laughter exchanged, and Judy’s extraordinary life honored with the love she so freely gave to us all. LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD MAY 15, 2025
May the Spirit of the Lord be upon you as you live in the
Kingdom of God,
Probably one of the most quoted scriptures is John3:16.
Inspired Version
“For God so loved the world,
that he gave his Only Begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth on him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.”
As you know any scripture may read differently according
to the translation you are reading from. Some say, “Believeth in,” while others
read “Believeth on.” The general consensus is that in and on mean basically the
same thing, but how many times do we get bogged down on a single word. How many
times does one word lead to war between family members, neighbors, in the
church, in a country, and in the world? It may not be just one word, but might
be one thought, one idea, one action one belief that we might misunderstand or
misinterpret and something we don’t follow up on to get the truth of the
matter.
Jesus tells us that He is the Way, the truth, and
the Life. There is no other way, truth and life! If and when we look for
and cling to some other way, truth, and life, we are obviously looking and
going in the wrong way. In John 6 Jesus was teaching about his body being the
bread of life and his blood the drink and that unless we eat his body and drink
his blood we have no life in us. Some of his own disciples could not accept
this teaching because they did not grasp the spiritual meaning and they went
away. Note that Jesus did not go running after them offering to change his
plan. He simply turned to the Twelve and asked them a point-blank question, “Will
ye also go away?”
Peter, in one of his better responses said, “Lord,
to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.” What a dynamic
answer from Peter and this was before the Resurrection! We know what he and the
other apostles did after the Resurrection. We find an interesting account
in Acts 17:1-6. You can read the whole account for yourself, but verse six ends
with this statement, “These that have turned the world upside down are come
hither also.” This was a reference to Paul and Silas and the power of God
by which they were teaching and preaching.
Do you know of anyone who has or is “Turning the world
upside down?” How about the part of the world that is your part of the kingdom
of God? It wasn’t the time Paul and Silas spent in prison, but what they did
that got them there and then what they did while they were in prison and of
course while they were “free.” We know of Paul’s conversion experience and
life of ministry, but what about Silas? Silas is mentioned only 13 times in the
Bible, the first mention being in Acts 15:22. Some of the apostles we hear a
lot about are Peter, James, John, Paul and a few others, but what about the
others? I am sure they were out there on the front lines doing God’s work just
like the ones mentioned.
So is our calling as we are living in the kingdom of God
in 2025. We don’t have to be a Big Name.” We just have to be the best
disciple we can be, 24/7, and that all with God’s help. Go back
to the scripture above and replace the word world with your name and truly
believe it.
God bless

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD MAY 8, 2025
Greetings to all the Saints around the world,
This week we especially remember our Mother. Mother’s Day
is Sunday, May 11, 2025 and is celebrated pretty much around the world, though
not always at the same time. Mothers are very important in God’s plan for
mankind and very vital to our living in the Kingdom of God.
Many are blessed to still have their mothers alive, but
many do not have that privilege.
Some have suffered the loss of their mother even this
week and our hearts, love and prayers go out to them, but we always have the
assurance that Our Heavenly Father loves them and will be with them through
this difficult time.
There are many scriptures, hymns, poems, stories etc
about that special person we call Mom. Though all women do not have the
opportunity to have and raise children, we know that every women carries those
motherly gifts and blessings, with which, they in turn, bless many people.
The great importance and role of mothers is possibly best
described in several places in the scriptures, such as Genesis 3:26; the Book
of Ruth; Hannah in I Samuel 1:11& 26-28; Luke 1:5-6 and 26-38; Alma
26:56-57 and 95-96; DC 24 to Emma Smith. Proverbs 31 is used many times due to
the sub title, “Quality of a good wife.” “In the Hymns of the Restoration,”
hymns 294-296 speak of the place and value of our mothers. There is a good poem
entitled, “My Mother,” written by Ann Taylor who lived (1783-1866.) You can
pull it up on the net.
Because God gave man his agency in the Garden of Eden, we
all have choices and decisions to make, sometimes for the good and God’s
purposes and sometimes not. We know that many a mothers diligent prayers have
been honored by God in the blessings, guidance and direction of their children.
We pray that all mothers longing for and living in the
Kingdom of God will remain faithful and strong until that time when Jesus
returns to establish His real Kingdom. We also pray that at that time, there
will not have to be major changes in our lives.
Dear Father, take each day of our lives into Thine own
keeping. Control all our thoughts and feelings. Direct all our energies.
Instruct our minds. Sustain our wills. Take our hands and make them skillful to
serve Thee. Take our feet and make them swift to do Thy bidding. Take our eyes
and keep them fixed upon Thine everlasting glory. Take our mouths and make them
eloquent in testimony to Thy love. Make every day’s effort a vital part of the
work of Thy Kingdom, now and forever.
God bless the mothers, today and every day.
