Several Special Worship Services

The Saints are blessed to have several special worship services during the next few days. What wonderful opportunities to mix with friends and worship our Lord!

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JANUARY 5, 2023

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JANUARY 5, 2023

New Year’s Greetings and best wishes to all the lovely Saints throughout the world,

If you are a “time watcher” you might be interested to know that we now have only 51 ½ weeks left in this year, which would translate to 360 days. Also, we are down to 21 months from the suggested two years in the Kirtland Message of September, 2022.

However, as per several scriptures, we still do not know the day nor the hour when Jesus Christ will return to the earth. Therefore it might behoove us to be alerted to our efforts of living in the Kingdom of God. Behoove means “It is a duty or responsibility for someone to do something.”

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:38 ”Wherefore, seek not the things of this world, BUT seek ye first to build up the kingdom of God, and to establish HIS righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
In sections 6, 10, 11, 12 of the Doctrine and Covenants we, as well as the individuals to whom these revelations were given are instructed to “Keep my commandments and seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion.”

James Christenson, in his book, “Zion In Our Time,” published in 1980, states: “The establishment of God’s Kingdom should be the major goal of true Christians everywhere, and no disciple should rest until this goal is accomplished. A unique doctrine of the restored Church of Jesus Christ is the methodology of building the Kingdom in these last days: the concept of Zion.”

F. Henry Edwards, in his book “Fundamentals” published in 1948, says: The church of Jesus Christ offers the world the vision and the goal of the Kingdom of God, in which men are brothers, because they are first of all the children of God. The machinery of the kingdom is ready to our hands.”

Do we treat others like they are children of God? What examples do our neighbors see in us? The Lord told us in Doctrine and Covenants 128,:8,. in 1909 through Joseph Smith III, SECTION 128 - Doctrine and Covenants. “The Spirit saith further: That these organizations contemplated in the law may be effected and the benefits to be derived therefrom be enjoyed by the Saints-in such enjoyment they cannot withdraw themselves so completely from a qualified dependence upon their Gentile neighbors surrounding them as to be entirely free from intercommunication with them; 8b yet it is incumbent upon the Saints, while reaping the benefits of these organizations, to so conduct themselves in the carrying into operation the details of their organizations as to be in the world but not of it, 8c living and acting honestly and honorably before God and in the sight of all men, using the things of this world in the manner designed of God, that the places where they occupy may shine as Zion, the redeemed of the Lord.”

It is possible for us, today, to live as if in Zion. Some say it can’t be done. In I Nephi 1:65 we find these words: “And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father, I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded; for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

The Daily Devotional for January-April is available on the CRE website at eldersconference.org

God bless you in your Kingdom living efforts.

Donations: Someone's Trash is my Treasure

Donations: Someone's Trash is my Treasure

Hello Saints,

I have acquired a trailer, thanks to all who helped me to achieve this goal. I know that it is only in January, but Spring Cleaning is not that far off; so, if you have any old lumber 1x2 or 2x2s that you want to get rid of or even flooring I would greatly appreciate that as a donation toward helping our family. The reason I am asking for donations is the previous owner had got everything out of the trailer and we found more spots than we thought which need to be stabilized, before we can move in safely. And even if it ends up all mismatched, I am ok with this because I am not picky right now, I want to get the floors that need done, done by mid-February. Also, if there is anyone who can donate their time to help me and my dad work on these floors or even demo, we would greatly appreciate it. Hope you all have a blessed evening.

Mrs. Carina Adams

IIAW Notes and Upcoming Events

Hello, IIAW Unity Center Friends,

God's richest blessings for you all as we march into this fresh new year! I am impressed by a word from the Spirit, that as we embarque on this new time, aligning ourselves with the heart of the Father, our resolve will not fade as most resolutions do, but grow in strength and gain momentum, giving us all the encouragement and courage we need to press forward in Jesus.

Rally for Independence Report:
Three members of the IIAW Leadership Team held our first Rally for Independence at Living Hope Restoration Church, December 10th. About 30 people attended to hear Brother Dennis Cato speak about the history, vision, and future direction of the Independence Is Alive and Well Initiative. Since he was released as LDS Independence Stake President, Dennis will devote more time to connecting with more area churches to expand the influence of the body of Christ through churches in creating safe, stable, and vibrant neighborhoods and city, starting with the weakest and most vulnerable. The IIAW focuses on cooperating and collaborating with all faiths for the benefit of our city, agreeing and uniting under the banner of obeying two basic commandments, to love God and love our neighbors. If you would like for Brother Cato or other IIAW Leaders to speak to your group, please let me, Muriel Luedeman, know. I will set up a date and time for you to meet with Dennis. I am also available as Communications Secretary and Neighborhood Transformation Team Lead, to speak at any area church event. The IIAW has four years of experience and base of knowledge to help any person or group connect with and care for their neighbors.

TEAM JESUS is traveling and will not be doing a meal prep for Beloveds January 14th.

January 14, 9 - 11am, Neighborhood Clean Up, Unity Center Parking Lot, 803 W. 23rd Street. Decent weather providing - 40+ degrees, no precipitation, or strong winds. Wear warm layered clothing, gloves, hats, sturdy shoes. MODOT trash bags will be provided. Bring grabbers. If it is dry, we may do some sidewalk edging and cleaning, and work with neighbors on their properties, so bring rakes, shovels, brooms, loppers, trimmers, chain saws, etc. I will post on the weather conditions and areas we will be working closer to the 14th. If you know of a widow or older single person who needs some help, let me know. We may be able to assist during this Neighborhood Clean Up.

January 24, 6:30pm, IIAW Monthly Meeting, Unity Center

January 28, 2pm, Rally for Independence, Living Hope Restoration Church, 2425 S. Crysler Avenue, Green gym building in the rear of the property. All churches are welcome. We will be reporting on the Clean Up Day efforts, share information and neighborhood care tips, and strategize goals and projects for future months. It's a time to celebrate God's successes through us, share knowledge, and encourage each other in our individual and collective ventures for His cause. If you can't make it, please pray a blessing upon united the work at hand.

Thank you all for the generous support over the past four years. We are better together than we are alone.
