Wise Words in Regards to Sacrament Sunday from Brian Turner |
We are a gathering people. We gather for many things, reunions, worship service, prayer service, camps and places where we think that the Lord will hear us and talk to us. Many times we forget that God gave us a promise Matthew 18: 20 If we believe in the scriptures, and I think that we do, then we must believe that God will be with us as we gather in His name no matter where that may be. So many times we forget that God can transcend time and space and connect all that are gathered for a purpose, his purpose. Think of it like a super Zoom meeting where we are all logging in. This is where Sacrament Sunday comes to mind…are we not all gathered for the same reason, the same purpose? Mark 14:20 - 24 This is the one time that we come together in our various congregations or groups and are focused on the same thing. Isn’t this the ideal time and place for God to reach into our hearts and give us that direction that we sorely seek not only for our lives but for the Church as a whole? 1 Corinthians 10: As we come together and partake of the Bread and Wine we come not only to remember but to gain faith, strength and knowledge in Jesus Christ. And if there is a word for the Church will not all hear it? 2 Corinthians 12:9 By knowing and confessing your weakness’s and sins to God / Jesus Christ that is when you are the strongest that you can be – for only then have you truly surrendered…only then will you be able to hear the word of God as it is uttered. Philippians 4:13 And the strength comes from surrendering all that you are so that you can become all that Christ died for. Revelation 12:9 The scriptures are very clear about the power in all things that come about when one surrenders….the power is in faith, the power is in understanding, the power is in the gospel of Jesus Christ in ways that you are not even aware of at this moment. Have we really surrounded? Have we truly given our hearts to Him? If we believe that we have then why are we running to and fro seeking His word, His direction, His counsel? Why do we wrest the scriptures and bring them down to our level instead of us rising to his? We have been given guidance as to how we are to approach the Sacrament and how and to whom it is to be served. It is given to us so that we may be prepared to forsake our sins and to receive the Word. Alma 10:77 You can see the effects of a simple prayer by Alma and Amulek – what separates them from you and I? Nothing other than a commitment to keep the commands of God…you know; the ones that you walked into the waters of baptism for. Brothers and Sisters if you were not already planning on attending a Sacrament service this Sunday I ask you to consider changing your plans. Go and be a part of your Church family, be a part of God’s family. Give praise to the one who hung on the cross for you and I while you are in fellowship with each other. What do you have to lose? Maybe the question is what will you gain? Brian Turner |

ZIONWORKS NEWS for DECEMBER 1ST 2023
WHY THE KINGDOM’S TIME IS UPON US AND WHAT QUALIFIES YOU TO BUILD IT
Actually, claiming to be the people that have been called with the ultimate responsibility to build Christ’s Zion (The Kingdom on the earth) we are way behind schedule. We can blame ourselves, blame the leadership or find it convenient to blame other conditions, beliefs or situations, but that’s a waste of time and creates a mental and physical barrier to just getting the work done. God tells us what qualifies us to do the work, which also releases each one of us to just apply ourselves, free from peer judgement, to do our responsibilities. “…therefore all ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, mind, might and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day; THEREFORE IF YE HAVE DESIRES TO SERVE GOD, YE ARE CALLED TO THE WORK…AND FAITH, HOPE, CHARITY AND LOVE QUALIFIES HIM FOR THE WORK. Remember, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, Godliness, humility, diligence. Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.” D&C 4. If you include prayer and scripture study, that covers it.
There are those who have told you why Zion can’t be built today for many reasons that you’ve already heard, so let’s not recall them or be disheartened or paralyzed by them by them. Let’s look at where we are in God’s timeline. God told us this in 1831 “…BE PREPARED for things to come, for…ye hear of wars in foreign lands, but I say unto you, They are nigh, even at your doors and not many years hence ye shall hear of wars in your own lands…AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS AMONG THE WICKED THAT EVERY MAN THAT WILL NOT TAKE HIS SWORD AGAINST HIS NEIFHBOR MUST FLEE UNTO ZION FOR SAFETY. And there shall be gathered unto it out of every nation under heaven; and it shall be the only people that shall not be at war one with another.”!!! From D&C 45 in 1831. These conditions exist NOW, but most of us haven’t had the faith, permission or initiative to engage fully in building the place to flee to…even though it was clearly prophesied and you and I were told to make it happen. It gets more intense: “I, the Lord am angry with the wicked; I am holding my spirit from the inhabitants of the earth. I have sworn in my wrath and decreed wars on the face of the earth, and the wicked shall slay the wicked, and fear shall come upon every man, AND THE SAINTS SHALL ALSO HARDLY ESCAPE…” D&C 63:9a-c from 1831. WHERE IS THIS PLACE TO ESCAPE TO? Are you and I going to face God at the judgement bar and blame the church’s resistance to making Zion happen when he clearly showed us, as individuals, what we should be about? Yes, this is a tough situation for us today, but who are we going to answer to ultimately?
Now it gets exciting. All that God has said about his kingdom on the earth is true. Like my friend, Bruce Baldwin told me, “Zion is coming like a runaway freight train and Satan is trying to derail us.” Anything that tries to derail us is of Satan (including our own lack of faith). Zion certainly happened in Enoch’s day. There were certainly people and groups that tried to derail the endeavor then, but Enoch and each person involved persevered by uncompromisingly applying God’s principles. This took extreme change in lifestyle and giving the work all of their spiritual and physical effort. But, no doubt, they did it. People just like you and me.
Now, it gets even more exciting. If you are not aware of Zionworks’ gathering of humble and sincere people dedicated to the building of the Kingdom, we invite you to investigate. Presently we’re still a small group from various congregations and denominations. We recognize the present need to become independent of Babylon and therefore provide all of the substance and systems to have and live in a society governed by God’s love and therefore mature and responsible living. This includes all of the physical necessities for the successful operation of a community: Food production and storage, safe water, sanitation, homes, medical needs, transportation, roads, etc… eventually. Presently, we are a rather small group and are operating on a smaller scale as more people come to recognize the urgency of Zion and dedicate themselves to the effort. A couple of things I didn’t mention: the fun of working together and the spiritual blessings we’ve experienced so far. You are invited to any of our meetings or work days. We have two meetings per month and two, and sometimes more, work days per month helping those who are overloaded or those who are unable.
QUOTES
Howard Cozart: “Look to the prophets. God doesn’t do anything that he doesn’t foretell or reveal through the prophets. The whole church is built upon the revelation of Christ. Test everything. Ask God, as we are counselled in James 1:5. Is there any doubt we lack wisdom? What is the great deception Messiah spoke of in Matthew 24? Are the traditions of men, even in the restoration, pleasing to our father? Every individual must ask and seek diligently for the answer to what it is that we yet lack, and the spirit of promise will prevail.”
Victor Hugo: “Greater than the force of mighty armies is the power of an idea whose time has come.”
Marilyn Middleton: “If you don’t have any resistance, you won’t have any growth. There is always an opposing force and always conflict. I think we give up too soon. We miss out, not knowing how close we were. All of us get on board and know what we are supposed to be doing and do it.”

LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD NOVEMBER 30, 2023
Thanksgiving Blessings to the lovely children of the Most
High God,
Though Thanksgiving as a holiday may be unique to
America, the thought of giving thanks, that is remembering to thank God for His
daily blessings, is a part of God’s plan to mankind. Maybe you heard the
following scripture several times this past week, but it is one we should
always keep, fresh in our daily living in the Kingdom of God.
It is I Thessalonians 5:18, “In everything give
thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning YOU.” I
Thessalonians has five chapters. Four of them mention “thanks.” Four of them
refer to the second coming of Christ. Maybe we should each one, with our
children, study I Thessalonians. Of course, all scriptures are of great value to
us, if we know them and strive to live in accordance with them.
The Holy Scriptures are the life line for those “Living
in the Kingdom of God.” They are God’s word to us today giving us daily
guidance as to how to truly be “Living in the Kingdom of God.” Living in the
Kingdom of God is not just a play on words, a good thought or a game. We are
engaged in a full life drama preparing for the return of Jesus Christ. What if
He comes today, tonight , next week, next year or whenever. Will we, me, you be
ready or will we be like the wedding guest without the proper wedding garment?
There is a song entitled, “One Day Jesus Will Call My
Name.” One verse says, “One day, Jesus will call my name. As the days go by, I
hope I don’t stay the same. I want to be so close to Him that its no big
change. On that day that Jesus calls my name.” You can look this song up on the
net to hear it sung and to hear the verses, but we must desire to so live in
the Kingdom of God that we will be ready when He returns or we pass away.
We have the opportunity to start now and especially this
Sunday, December 3, 2023, as once again many will have the privilege of
partaking of the bread and wine in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.
Jesus admonishes us in us in all three scriptures to “Do
this in Remembrance of Me.”
What do you remember about Jesus? We could certainly list
many things. You can make your own list.
What is probably the most important thing we should
remember about Jesus, Our Lord and Savior? Would it be the fact of why He came
down to earth? Perhaps a careful reading of I John would help us clarify, in
our own mind, the true significance of what we must remember about Jesus.
One of our Sacrament hymns is entitled, “According to Thy
Gracious Word.” It is number 275 in the Hymns of the Restoration, 2007 edition.
It is a confession of our need to truly “Remember Jesus.”
God be with you,
Paul Gage
