Rings holding the pages

Could this be the biggest find since the Dead Sea Scrolls? Seventy metal books found in cave in Jordan could change our view of Biblical history

This ancient collection of 70 tiny books, their lead pages bound with wire, could unlock some of the secrets of the earliest days of Christianity.

Full Story:

If real this will prove that plates were held together with rings.
A claim the anti-Book of Mormon crowd has used to declare it a fraud.

Devon Park Loses to CofC

03/21/2011 Community of Christ Copyright v. Devon Park Restoration Branch

U.S. Court of Appeals Case No: 10-1707
U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri - Kansas City
[PUBLISHED] [Wollman, Author, with Hansen and Shepherd, Circuit Judges]
Civil case - Trademarks. Even when viewed in the light most favorable to defendant, the evidence established that its use of the RLDS marks owned by plaintiff would create a likelihood of confusion and that plaintiff was entitled to summary judgment on its trademark infringement and false designation of origin claims; plaintiff was also entitled to summary judgment on its state law claims for common law infringement, unfair competition and trademark dilution; district court did not err in dismissing defendant's counterclaim for cancellation based on abandonment; district court did not err in finding the RLDS mark was not generic or in dismissing defendant's counterclaim for cancellation; district court did not err in permanently enjoining defendant from using the RLDS marks; award of attorneys' fees was not an abuse of discretion in light of the fact that defendant willfully and deliberately used the marks despite its knowledge that plaintiff owned the marks and was continuing to use them.

From: John Moody

I would just like to give a reminder to everyone, first to keep me, my husband David and our son John David in all of the Saint's prayers. Please.

Next, I would like to remind everyone that our son, John David, who is currently employed with AT&T, wants desperately to get his business off and running.

He builds decks and does garage doors.

AT&T while a good paying employer, works John David at least 12 hours a day. Even Saturday and Sunday.

This makes it impossible for our son to be involved with Church or the Saints.

His phone number is 816-263-1062. His name is John David Guthrie.

The other request.

David and me have been through many trials, and we know many more are in our future. Being stranded in Oklahoma, without the fellowship of the saints, and the need for David to be a part of Christ's ministry with his priesthood, and his musical gift, makes life almost unendurable.

We would like for all the saint's to pray for David and me to find a home in the Independence area. We cannot buy anything. Our credit is non existance. David had open heart surgery in 2006 and for 2 years we had little income. Without income, we could not pay any debts.

Now we both are on disability. David because of his heart condition. Me because of the loss of our daughter Stephanie in 2002 at the age of 23.

We try each weekend to drive to church, a one way 360 miles. With gasoline as high as it is, our future is looking very dim for making these trips.

So, if everyone could lift our family up to the Lord in prayer, we would be so grateful.

Thank you,

Connie and David Guthrie

Presler Update

Dear Ones,

We write to inform you that our son Presler is well enough to get back to school. Even though he has not fully regained his strength he is well recovered from the illness. He also feels he has been away from school for along time and need to get back. He has an appointment to see the doctor in a week's time for check up. I have no doubt that he and we too have been blessed. It is time to return thanks to the Lord God and praise his holy name. Thanks for the many many blessings that have come to us through your ministry. The prayers (some with fasting) offered, for they were prayers of faith. Thanks for the hearts and minds that were stretched out towards Presler for healing, and us for comfort. Thanks for the messages (emails, telephone, FB) that helped to focus us on the power in the name of Christ Jesus. May we rise up again and confront the next case with the assurance that in Jesus' name together we are more than conquerors. For through Presler's case our faith (we and you all) have been rebuilt and made surer.

Honduran Neighborhood Watch Project

I am in awe that in just 72 hours the funds needed, and then some, were collected to support this project. Donations came in from a special offering taken by a local congregation to several individuals making a contribution. Thank you all and Praise God!
Myself and Ben Gatrost, who is currently serving on the federal level as a law enforcement officer, will leave the Center place on April 26th for Siguatepeque, Comayagua, Honduras and return to Independence on May 3rd. Ben and I will have about 6-7 days to conduct a training program to leaders of neighborhood watch groups in this area comprising a growing population of nearly 51,000 (per a 2008 local census). Civil Authority and law enforcement in the area are rarely visible much less able to be effective. For a population base this size the local city government is only able to fund a police department consisting of 9 patrol officers (to cover 24/7 shifts), 12 detectives, and one patrol car. It is hoped several local police officers will also attend the training.
In the Sperry’s home area it is up to a neighborhood to fend for them selves when it comes to dealing with a criminal element. Based on the Neighborhood Watch program the Sperry’s have already started as a part of their missionary efforts, Ben and I will conduct a multi hour educational program to, what we hope, will be about 65 neighborhood leaders from the area. These leaders will attend the program on various days and in small groups.
Ben and I will cover topics to include personal safety, situational awareness, walking patrol techniques, crime scene management (until local law enforcement can arrive hours later or the next day), and simple arrest and humane restraint techniques. In the Sperry’s area, if a thief or assailant is caught in a criminal act, the neighbors make a citizen arrest and have to personally transport the perpetrator to the police station for detention and the crime report.
Via the Sperry’s previous successful organizing and missionary efforts the project has the full support of the local police chief and city prosecuting attorney to try and bring some semblance of order and organization to the neighborhoods that are being occupied by criminal gangs. Ben and I are humbled to be able to bring a Christian witness to these people through these classes imparting real life personal and neighbor security skills. When we return I will make a report of our activities, results, and God’s hand working through it all. For those of you that would still like to assist simply be in prayer for our safety and the success of the program from April 26th through May 3rd.
Thanks again to all of those who so generously and quickly responded to our funding request.

Presler Update

Dear Brother,
Thaanks for your email. Earlier in the day it appeared like the worst was over. But in the afternoon Presler was hungry he asked for food. He has not eaten since Tuesday last week. There was food on his hospital room table and I asked the nurses if he could eat it. It was like 3 bites and the pain returned as if with a vengance. He could not rest, but rolled in pain. And he was ready to throw up (fortunately he did not). But the pain continued till they injected him with some drugs. At which point he slept shortly after. He is still asleeep. We apprecaite your prayers and ask you and the saints to help us keep vigilance.

God bless and love.

Aaron Andes Fundraiser

In May, 2010, Aaron Andes was diagnosed with Perthes Disease-a very rare degenerative disorder in children caused by loss of blood flow to the hip.

A “femoral osteotomy” was performed on Aaron in Sept., 2010 in hopes of containing his femoral head inside the hip joint.

The femoral head has continued to collapse and at this time Aaron only has a 5 degree range of motion in the affected hip.

Aaron’s parents (Larry and Shannon Andes-members of Kingsville Restoration Branch), consulted with Dr. Paley in West Palm Beach, FL., who is the world’s top surgeon and specialist in Perthes Disease. Dr. Paley explained that the surgery Aaron underwent in Sept., only works for 1/3 of Perthes patients-and most of them are the children who are under the age of 8.

After reviewing Aaron’s x-rays and medical records, Dr. Paley told the parents Aaron should have another surgery, which has an 85-90% success rate in older Perthes patients like Aaron. He told them the surgery needs to be done very soon-within a month, before it is too late.

The surgery is scheduled for March 30th in West Palm Beach, FL.

We are asking for donations to help the family with expenses incurred as a result of this unexpected surgery and trip. Larry and Shannon have 5 children and are a single income family. Aaron’s physical therapy benefits will maximize in June of this year; as well. Aaron’s extended family plan to help with some financial needs but it simply will not be enough to cover the

enormous expenses that will be incurred as a result of the trip and post operative expenses. Any contributions and prayers that can be made will be deeply appreciated.

Thank You for your help

Aaron’s parent’s plan to drive to Florida instead of flying because of the equipment they will be coming home with; as well as the fact that an airplane ride will be very uncomfortable after surgery. They will leave on March 25th. It would be a great help if all donations could be given to the family by Sunday, March 20th.

Please send donations by March 19th to:

Larry Marsh (Pastor of Kingsville Restoration Branch)
706 S Clay
Holden MO 64040
Make the checks payable to 'Aaron Andes Fundraiser'.

He also vomits alot and is in great pains most of the day and nights. He calls me to him when in pains, and I'm pained.

Prayers Needed for John Tayler

Yesterday, as they were standing in a store waiting to be checked out, the wife "LOIS" turned around and he was laying on the floor. He doesn't remember what happened and is having a hard time remembering things, like who he is ect. They have both been very sick with some kind of flu. He had it worse than she did. He did go to the Dr yesterday after this happened and he is going to have tests run on him.
