Prayers for Brenda

From: Dwight Elefson
drelefson@gmail.com

I thought I was being pretty healthy this summer, but it turns out I'm
not. I found a lump under my arm and had a mammogram, ultrasound and
also a biopsy done last Friday. We got some of the results back on
Tuesday.

Turns out there is a small cancerous growth in the breast tissue and the
nearby lymph node is also large. Yes, breast cancer ~~--

Saw an oncologist today who helped explain what we should do now. I'll
go for more tests Monday...a MRI, cat scan and bone scan. The surgery
isn't scheduled yet, but I may have a lumpectomy later next week.

I appreciate your love and prayers for us.

Love,
Brenda

Re: Dave and Cara Frye

I just wanted to let everyone know that the shower for Jack Frye has been postpone (NOT cancel) the shower on the 27th of July. There has been some red tape legal tie ups and Jack has been returned to South Dakota until these are settled. I would also like to ask everyone for their prayers for Dave and Cara for the strength to get through this and especially for little Jack that he will be comforted until his return. Pyramid of the Sun tunnel

Pyramid of the Sun tunnel

Would you please post this. The Hill Cumorah Expedition Team (HCET) has conducted exploratory expeditions in the tunnel underneath The :Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan Mexico. These expeditions have culminated in several extraordinary finds. Another tunnel was found under the Pyramid. In this second tunnel was a room full of golden balls and a large amount of their offerings. Unfortunately a cave-in has halted excavation. The umbrella organization to HCET known as Early Sites Research Society has been requested to step in and help with this project. The archaeologist has chosen ESRS because of the trusting relationship that has been developed through the years. This will require commissioning an expert team to travel to the site and evaluate the cave in, how to fix it, and how to prevent another cave-in. The experts and team to do this will cost about $12,000.00 for fees for the consultation, travel and living expenses. If 200 people would contribute $60.00 the cost would not be a burden on any one person. Contributions should be made to Early Sites Research Society or Hill Cumorah Expedition Team. These donations are tax deductible. Mail donations to ESRS PO Box 4175 Independence, MO 64051. For questions contact Neil Steede or David Brown at dbb9258@yahoo.com

Thank you.

Prayers and support for Tony Griffin

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: whistler kenworthy

Prayers and support for Tony Griffin

I’m writing on behalf of a friend of mine, Tony Griffin, who’s had a number of setbacks due to severe health problems. I’d like to ask an interest in your prayers for him and enlist your support in encouraging him as he works to get back on his feet. If you have time, please read what I’ve written below to tell about his story.

I met Tony when I attended Graceland College (now Graceland University) back in the late 1980’s. We both had a background in the Church. I had attended in Rosebud and Marlin, Texas, while Tony had attended the branch in Greenville, South Carolina, where he knew Doyle and Fern Launius. He had also done a summer internship in 1989 in Nauvoo, IL through Graceland and the Joseph Smith Historic Center.

Tony had worked as an Emergency Services Technician (EMT) on ambulances before he started to Graceland, and he was a few years older than most of the guys on our hall. Even so, I felt that he didn’t always get the welcome or respect that he deserved. There seemed to be a spirit of change at work in many at that time that led them to believe that certain views that had once been considered worthy of respect no longer should be. And “being cool” was apparently considered more important by some than actual experience or hard work.

Anyway, Tony was only able to attend Graceland for a couple of semesters-- he had to go back to work to save up more money for school fees. He alternated working with continuing his schooling at other colleges. But then his health developed a very serious problem and he was told that he would have to have open heart surgery for a Cardiac Mitrol-Valve Prolapse, which required installing an artificial heart valve.

After that surgery, Tony lost the factory job he had at the time because of the 3 month waiting time required for his chest to heal after open heart surgery. With his health weakened, he was unable to find another job. After years of delay, he was finally able to get some disability benefits. He had been renting an apartment before the surgery, and had even bought a little bit of land, but after the surgery he was forced to move in with his parents and he lost the land. Eventually, he also developed congestive heart failure and had to have a pacemaker installed to help correct it.

Because of his artificial heart valve, Tony will have to take blood thinner medication all his life. He developed retinal bleeding in one eye, probably due to the blood thinners, and is now legally blind in that eye. Without some time of training or college degree, Tony doesn’t see much prospect for being able to work again or live independently. A few days ago I helped him to put together a campaign on a fund-raising website called Indiegogo in order to try to raise some funds to help him go back to school. If you can, please visit Tony’s campaign page at the link below. I know that times are tough for many of us, and that you may not be able to contribute any funds to him. However, you can still help his campaign to get more attention by “Liking” it (if you have a Facebook account), or by clicking on the “Comments” tab and leaving a positive comment to show your support. That kind of activity will increase the campaign rank on Indiegogo and make his campaign more visible to the general public, which will increase the likelihood that it will come to the attention of anyone who is able to make a contribution. Also, just showing your sympathy and well wishes for Tony will mean more to him than you’ll ever know.

Here is the link to Tony’s Indiegogo campaign:

and his Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/tony.griffin.129

If you can’t go to the website (or even if you can), another great way to send Tony an encouraging word or a friendly hello would be to mail him a letter or card. It would really brighten his day to hear from you. Here’s his mailing address:

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Please spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested or able to help. Your attention, thoughts, and prayers are appreciated.

From: paul gage
pauljg_64055@yahoo.com

Greetings Brethren,

The CRE sponsored Kirtland Experience for Priesthood is set for Sept. 14-15, 2013 in Kirtland, Ohio.

We all know the rich heritage of the church in Kirtland. It was at the dedication the Kirtland Temple in 1836 that the well loved hymn, "The Spirit of God Like a Fire is Burning," was sung for the first time.

We all know the many marvelous testimonies of things that happened in the Kirtland Temple, especially those of the appearance of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

All priesthood of Restoration Branches, as recognized by the CRE, are invited.

Registration forms are available on line, at eldersconference.org
at the CRE office 500 N Union, Independence, MO 64050
or after each Summer Series service.

A complete schedule can be furnished on request when you register.

If you have any questions, email me or call 816-833-6552.

Hope to see you there!

God bless!

Prayer and Fasting for Little Jack

--------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Paula Swayne
steppingstonestoshelem@gmail.com

Fasting and Prayer for Little Jack and David and Cara Frye

I am Paula Swayne, Jack's Nana.

I have felt strongly led to ask for a 3-day fast in behalf of this situation that Cara Frye wrote about.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I received a call Thursday night that we had to return our new baby Jack, to the reservation as soon as possible. We left that night and got back late Friday evening. Apparently Jack was a ward of the state and was supposed to be staying with his Aunt as the court appointed guardian. Jack's birth mother was never notified and so no one knew that Jack was a ward of the state. No paperwork so far has been found to substantiate this claim. So in the eyes of the state Jack's birth mother had no rights to give him up. We have our tribal attorney working on this situation to either find the state had no rights to the child (by having no paperwork and no notification) or to get custody back. The tribal attorney is expecting this to resolve in about two weeks but there really is no way to know. In the meantime Jack's birth mother is in jail and if convicted will serve two years. Jack is in a foster home.

We need prayers that this is resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible and that Jack is well taken care of during this time.

Thank you all for your support!

Cara Frye

+++++++++++++++++++++

I, personally, will be starting it Tuesday, July 15, at sundown, and going until Friday, July 19 at sundown, and would really like as many as possible to join me. We will be then having a prayer service here at The Mansion House at 2121 S Sterling Avenue, Independence MO 64052 at 7 p.m. in our chapel area.

I have found there is much power in numbers of people praying and fasting together at the same time.

I am not fluent in Facebook, and would not mind if you want to ask others who are like minded to pray and fast for this little guy. If you are unable to come to the gathering here on Friday because of commitments, or because of geographical reasons, we would appreciate your prayers coming together with us at the same time.

Jack's physical health and emotional well being have already improved by leaps and bounds in the short time our children have had him. We were getting ready to plan his blessing when this happened.

Cara and David will be there to update everyone on specifics so we can focus on the needs. We know this little guy has a great work to do for the Kingdom, and to take to his people. David and Cara have a great responsibility which they are willing to do, and we want to stand in the gap, and pray that God's purposes for little Jack be fulfilled.

Chuck Perry said that we know where he needs to be, and I was so pleased to have a witness of that through him....thank you, Chuck.

I know at this time there has been great distress within him.....he bonded so quickly to David and Cara and the rest of his extended family.

Again, do what you can. We appreciate all your prayers in behalf of this child of God

Second Amendment in Missouri

--------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Curry Kenworthy
curry@pair.com

Second Amendment in Missouri

Our second amendment is based on Biblical understanding, just like the other rights which the American founders affirmed came from our Creator. (See Luke 11:21, 1 Sam 13:19, Exo 22:2, Luke 22:36.)

As you know, this year in our nation and here in Missouri, there was quite a struggle over the right to defend our homes, families, and liberty! That right has been preserved at the national level, and a few days ago our state governor signed a law (SB 75) that makes schools safer and prevents abusing and misusing the data collected for Missouri carry permits.

However, the other half of our state's legislative effort this year is still at risk! HB 436 was vetoed by the governor. It is a very special bill to help protect the citizens in Missouri against any actions that could infringe on the second amendment, and requires judges and officers of the law to actively defend our rights! It would also make carry in our state safer, more comfortable, and more commonplace by enabling the use of holsters statewide for those with permits.

If you care about this God-given right and would like to see more protection for it, please CALL your state representatives and senators to "override" the governor's veto on "HB 436". The bill passed by an overwhelming majority, but overrides are more the exception than the rule, so they would still need to hear from many of us in order to ensure that it becomes law.

Family in need of financial help

From: Matt Fleming

Family in need of financial help

Dear Friends,

We feel that over the past few years, the Lord has been calling our family and preparing us to start a farm to provide for ourselves and others in the days ahead. We would like to build our own home and are looking for land in Zion to start this farm. We have a very specific plan of what we are going to do, including a detailed budget, plants and animals and how to raise them according to God’s design, and lists of all the things that we need to accomplish this. We feel a sense of urgency that we need to start now; however we don't have enough money to do this without assistance. We do feel that in doing this we should not go into debt to the world or our enemies. Instead, we have decided to ask for financial help to build our home and farm from our friends, family, and any saints who are willing and able to help. If you desire more information, please contact us.

God Bless,

Babysitting Opportunity

We are in need of a Nanny at our office, which is out of the business-owner’s home. We are looking for someone who can work starting around 8/19 and work Monday – Friday from 7:45am – 5:15pm. There will be 2 toddlers, and 2-4 babies. They are already on a fairly regular schedule that they are used to, all food will be provided, and the moms of all the kids work within the house and can be available at any time. We are looking for anyone that would be available to work 1 – 5 days, so it doesn’t have to be one person full time, if there are a couple of people that are looking for part-time work, a couple of days a week.

Update from the Philippines

----- Forwarded Message -----
From: Kreg Levengood
Kreg.Levengood@kiewit.com

Update from the Philippines

We visited a new village today, probably close to a hundred there. We each shared the gospel, then a Philippine member that was with us asked if there were any sick that wanted administration. A lot of the crowd moved forward with their chairs, so much serious sickness. Probably had 25 to 30 administrations, more than 10 had vomiting blood, not sure what causes that but it was almost an epidemic. They did tell us they are lucky to eat once a day, sometimes several days between meals. I'm glad we brought a lot of food to have lunch with them. several of us didn't eat so the villagers could have more food and they could keep the leftovers. 4 or 5 more asked for administration after lunch. I doubt any of them ever saw a white person before!

We then went to a smaller branch, around 30 there, some non members, taught gospel and did more administrations. One guy was a minister in another church that got an administration. I am running out of oil. We then came back to Tagum for a baby blessing. Just got in, another very long but rewarding day. Prayers for strength for all of us are needed. I'm glad I got to come, we are taking turns on everything and still get wore out. Dan Brotherton and Roger Graybill would have been overwhelmed if Steve Ferguson and I didn't come.

We are going into the mountains tomorrow and staying the night. So I won't be able to send any messages for a couple days. Everyone's prayers are desperately needed, so much work to do and I want my mind to be sharp, but it is hard when you are exhausted. Give everyone my love.

Learning From Young Atheists: What Turned Them Off Christianity

Learning From Young Atheists: What Turned Them Off Christianity

By Eric Metaxas , Christian Post Contributor

July 2, 2013|10:10 am

It's something most Christian parents worry about: You send your kids off to college and when they come back, you find they've lost their faith. The prospect of this happening is why many parents nudge their kids towards Christian colleges, or at least schools with a strong Christian presence on campus.

But in many ways, the damage has been done long before our children set foot on campus. That's the message from a recent article in the Atlantic Monthly.

I do not have specific injury report status, a few things have been suggested but nothing confirmed as of this email.

Clyde Noren and I did visit her and administer to her. Your prayers would be appreciated.

The next day or so will determine the Lord's blessing to her, but she has been so blessed already.

Caregiving job needed

As I was driving to work this week, I felt I-70 looked like it was slow going so I took the back roads to Independence.

I saw a young lady with her son walking on the sidewalk, on RD Mize Road, and the Lord impressed upon me strongly to pick her up. I did a U-turn and she seemed very grateful for the ride. She was going to the Independence Center to get a bus ride to the city.

While talking to Shaneika, I found out she has her CNA certificate and is getting certified in CPR. She stated she is also a caregiver (as I am)

but cannot find a job. I told her about a Christian e-mail group and that I would be happy to put my testimony and her name and number on the e-mail. (Shaneika is a believer and even told me she attended a Baptist church...) She had to sell her car as it was not running right, but said she would be able to get a ride to a job.

If you feel impressed by the Lord's spirit that this person can help you, please give Shaneika a call. Her phone number is 816-645-9866.

God Bless,
Terri Gard
