"Catholic Professor: The Book of Mormon Is a Miraculous Text

Many might not know Catholic professor Dr. Stephen H. Webb, but he did much to champion LDS beliefs, values, and scriptures. When most of the world refused to view Mormons as Christians, he publicly defended them, saying, "Mormons are more Christian....."

. . . For me, the Book of Mormon is an apparently miraculous text that addresses theological issues in a narrative form. Reading it religiously, rather than according to modern historical standards, suggests how it resolves many of the issues that were dividing Protestants in the nineteenth century and points the way toward a richer and broader Christianity than was then available. . . .

Musical Item for Service. Glenn KerswellMusical Item for Service. Glenn Kerswell

Around and about the Centre Place by High Priest Paul Gage, Independence, Missouri.

Spring and Fall greetings to the lovely Saints in Australia. You are springing into Spring and we are falling into Fall. Both seasons of the year, as summer and winter, provide the magnificent beauty and glory of God's creation. Many people in the USA will take annual trips and travel many miles to see the splendor of God's handiwork as the leaves change color. Everything God has done, is doing, and will do is beyond our human comprehension and therefore we lack, to some extent, the ability to truly appreciate God's love.

As the seasons come and go, people make various preparations for each season. Each day of our lives is a "new season," so what do we do to prepare for each day and of course, our life? The Conference of Restoration Elders sponsored an annual priesthood experience in Kirtland, Ohio on September 17-18, 2016. Priesthood gathered from six states to share together, with the Lord. Activities on Saturday, September 17 were held at the Kirtland, Ohio Restoration Branch, which is about 2-4 kilometers from the Temple. A prayer/testimony service, a class, and a historical presentation were the highlights of the morning.

High Priest Steve Bohall, from the Lexington, Missouri RB taught the class on the topic of "Sanctification." Sanctification seems to be an aspect of the gospel that we like to hear about, but don't want to take the action necessary for us to become "sanctified." Sanctification and sacrifice go together, hand in hand. To sanctify our lives, we must sacrifice those things that keep us from being sanctified.. The theme scripture was Doctrine and Covenants 85:16-21. This scripture is worthy of an in-depth study and application by each one who has made a covenant with the Lord.

Entering God's Kingdom is not an automatic thing that just happens. No one will simply walk into God's Kingdom with no effort to make sure they have on the "wedding garment." This is referenced in Matthew 22:1-14. DC 85 is filled with a great amount of instruction that is given for us to prepare ourselves. Be sure to read verse 20 a and b. In verse b we are told several things that we must do on our own, and yet the major part of the cleansing of our lives is done by the Lord, after we do what we are instructed to do Also see DC 81:3.

In the afternoon, the priesthood shared in the "Sacrament of the Lord's Supper" and then went to the Temple to share in a two hour service. On Sunday morning, the priesthood gathered, again, at the Temple for another two hour service. There were many wonderful prayers and testimonies shared during the time together. Elders Leo Carroll, Paul Gage, Jack Hagensen, and Tom Rindels, who will be in Australia from Sept. 23-Oct. 19 were at Kirtland and will be able to share first hand testimonies with the Saints in Australia during their visit.

There is always an abundance of events, activities, services, etc going on in the Centre Place. One event, of note, will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Waldo Avenue RB and is sponsored by the Waldo Avenue RB. The event is an "All Community wide prayer service," to petition God for the needs of the United States. Everyone in the Centre Place is invited to this special worship service.

The CRE missionary groups continue to be very active.. Recent missions have been made to Germany and Nepal and will be made to Australia and Kenya. The next issue of Tidings of Zion is being printed and should be in the homes by late September.

Our prayer for the Saints in Australia and the world is that God will continue to open those doors of ministry to each of us as we work toward sanctifying our lives for His Divine purposes.

Riches from the Scriptures Volome 2 by Elder Neil Kerswell

CHAPTER 8. “CHRISTMAS ARTICLE” (The Final Chapter in this Series)

Jesus Christ the Only Begotten of the Father We of the Covenant the Begotten through Christ

It will soon be Christmas time, when many Christians take time to reflect on the birth of their Lord and Saviour. This event signaled to the world of God’s love and desire to repair the damage sin had caused to His creation. Why was this necessary? What had we and all of God’s creation done to bring about this great need? God we are told is Holy and cannot look upon sin in the least degree of allowance. Therefore all those that shall be able to dwell in the fullness of His presence, must be truly made Holy and able to live within the fullness of God’s laws. Otherwise we must inherit a lesser kingdom where we are willing to keep the fullness

of its law. For we are told:

“[Sec 85:8a] And again, verily I say unto you, that which is governed by law, is also preserved by law, and perfected and sanctified by the same.[Sec 85:8b] That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, cannot be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, or judgment; therefore, they must remain filthy still. 85:9a. All kingdoms have a law given: and there are many kingdoms; for there is no space in the which there is no kingdom; and there is no kingdom in which there is no space, either a greater or lesser kingdom. 85:9b And unto every kingdom is given a law; and unto every law there are certain bounds also, and conditions. 85:10a. All beings who abide not in those conditions, are not justified; for intelligence cleaveth unto intelligence; wisdom receiveth wisdom; truth embraceth truth; virtue loveth virtue; light cleaveth unto light; 85:10b. mercy hath compassion on mercy, and claimeth her own; justice continueth its course, and claimeth its own; judgment goeth before the face of him who sitteth upon the throne, and governeth and executeth all things: 85:10c. he comprehendeth all things, and all things are before him, and all things are round about him; and he is above all things, and in all things, and is through all things, and is round about all things: and all things are by him, and of him; even God, for ever and ever.”

God wants for all of us to be in the fullness of His Presence and Kingdom. But will not take away our choice to choose differently. Our first parents Adam & Eve were led into sin by Satan, a fallen angel who sought to destroy the works of God and alienate Creation from God forever. The devil appeared to have success when God upheld His Law and sent Adam and Eve out of His presence and into a World where they were able to hear His voice but were cast out from the fullness of His presence. However God had a Plan of salvation from before the world was, which would allow him to give all generations an opportunity to come back into a Holy relationship with him.

All people born through the family of Adam and Eve inherit the nature to Sin. We can’t avoid it, the world into which we are born is fallen, and even many of the animals live by killing. We do not enjoy the fullness of the presence of God the Father, because we are born into a lesser kingdom, brought about by disobedience to His Commandments. We find ourselves in a real predicament. If God the Father in His Fullness were to burst upon our lives, He would destroy us, because all evil is removed from before his face.

Therefore to lift us out of Darkness and into the Light of His Countenance. God prepared a way (the only way) whereby men and women can be saved and given a real opportunity to break the chains of this existence. Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus is the Only Begotten of the Father. What this means is that His life would be the only time in which God the Father would by the Power of His Holy Ghost, enter into a Tabernacle of Flesh and live the life of a Human Being, to bring light, truth and reconciliation into a world that was lost and fallen. Therefore Jesus was called His Son because he was born into flesh through the will of the Spirit. He condemned Sin in the flesh by living a righteous life. Doing always the will of His Father who in His fullness dwelt in the Heavens.

Christ is one of us, of the family of Adam and always will be because of His flesh. However He, by the Holy Ghost which is of the Father was able to grow from grace to grace just as we do, until He received of a fullness of who He was. We in like manner, can through faith and obedience to God, relying on the name of Jesus Christ. Become Begotten Sons and Daughters through the receiving of that same Holy Ghost that is the Life and mind of Jesus through which He was able to overcome all things.

Moroni 7:18 Wherefore I beseech you, brethren, that ye should search diligently in the light of Christ, that ye may know good from evil; and if ye will lay hold upon every good thing, and condemn it not, ye certainly will be a child of Christ. [Moroni 7:19] And now, my brethren, how is it possible that ye can lay hold upon every good thing?

[Moroni 7:20] And now I come to that faith, of which I said I would speak; and I will tell you the way whereby ye may lay hold on every good thing. [Moroni 7:21] For behold, God knowing all things, being from everlasting to everlasting, behold he sent angels to minister unto the children of men, to make manifest concerning the coming of Christ; and in Christ there should come every good thing. [Moroni 7:22] And God also declared unto prophets by his own mouth, that Christ should come. [Moroni 7:23] And behold, there were divers ways that he did manifest things unto the children of men, which were good; and all things which are good, cometh of Christ, otherwise men were fallen, and there could no good thing come unto them. [Moroni 7:24] Wherefore, by the ministering of angels, and by every word which proceedeth forth out of the mouth of God, men began to exercise faith in Christ; and thus by faith, they did lay hold upon every good thing; and thus it was until the coming of Christ. [Moroni 7:25] And after that he came, men also were saved by faith in his name; and by faith, they become the sons of God. [Moroni 7:26] And as sure as Christ liveth, he spake these words unto our fathers, saying, Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be done unto you. [Moroni 7:27] Wherefore, my beloved brethren, hath miracles ceased, because Christ hath ascended into heaven, and hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men; [Moroni 7:28] For he hath answered the ends of the law, and he claimeth all those who have faith in him; and they who have faith in him, will cleave unto every good thing; wherefore he advocateth the cause of the children of men; and he dwelleth eternally in the heavens?

We see from this scripture that Christ is the source of all that is good. God the Father through the life of Christ, revealed Himself by the Power of the Holy Ghost in a manner which, rather than destroy us in our sins, gave us an example in human form to show us the way to life eternal. Nothing short of the heavenly could lift a fallen people from darkness (the nature to Sin) into light. Because how can the blind lead the blind into the Kingdom of God except God heal their blindness and open their ears to the greater kingdom first.

While here on the Earth Jesus was an example that the people could see, hear and feel. To those who he has revealed Himself after his Resurrection, He calls them forth and invites them to come forward and feel the prints of the nails in His hands and the hole in his side from the spear. You might say how wonderful and personal this is for God to be so revealing to his people. But it goes much further than this. Christ looked forward to the time when He would be taken into heaven, so the Holy Ghost could be given as a spiritual gift unto all people in all places who are Faithful and have covenanted with Him in the Waters of Baptism.

John 14:25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. [John 14:26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost , whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. [John 14:27] Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. [John 14:28] Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father; for my Father is greater than I.

Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Ghost wants to be a living part of us. When we receive the Holy Ghost at the time of our Confirmation, we are actually receiving the following: The Spirit, Mind and Will of God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son. The Record of Heaven, we can know of things as they were, as they are and as they will be according to the gifts of God unto us.

Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life; No one can come into the Presence of God the Father in the fullness of His Kingdom. Unless Jesus Christ has done His perfect work in us and presents us to the Father Spotless. Remember we said earlier that God cannot look upon sin in the least degree of allowance. Therefore Jesus Christ overcame sin in the flesh, showing it is possible by the Spirit of God. He being the Only Begotten of the Father.

Through the merits of Jesus we in the same manner can become begotten Sons and Daughters by the Power of the Holy Ghost in us working with our spirit that we may be one in the same manner in which Christ and the Father are one, by the Spirit of Almighty God entering into our tabernacle of flesh, making us one in the spirit.

[Mosiah 3:8] And now, because of the covenant which ye have made, ye shall be called the children of Christ, his sons, and his daughters: [Mosiah 3:9] For behold, this day he hath spiritually begotten you; for ye say that your hearts are changed through faith on his name; therefore, ye are born of him, and have become his sons and his daughters. [Mosiah 3:10] And under this head ye are made free; and there is no other head whereby ye can be made free.[Mosiah 3:11] There is no other name given, whereby salvation cometh, therefore, I would that ye should take upon you the name of Christ, all you that have entered into the covenant with God, that ye should be obedient unto the end of your lives. [Mosiah 3:12] And it shall come to pass that whosoever doeth this, shall be found at the right hand of God, for he shall know the name by which he is called; for he shall be called by the name of Christ. [Mosiah 3:13] And now, it shall come to pass that whosoever shall not take upon them the name of Christ, must be called by some other name; therefore, he findeth himself on the left hand of God.

From previous scripture we find, Christ hath ascended into heaven, and hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men. Christ who is both our brother and our God, overcame all things and now sits on the Right hand of God the Father, because He is our Advocate with the Father.

The promise for you and I and all who will enter into a covenant with Him, keeping all His commandments by the Gift of the Holy Ghost. That we can, if Faithful be found on the Right hand of Christ through whom we have light and life. Through whom we have been begotten. Dying to the world of sin and darkness and raised to newness of life through the Lamb of God. How great is our God? How great is the gift of Christ and the Holy Ghost which teaches us of the Father and the Son.

When I celebrate my children’s birthdays, I celebrate who they are now and look forward expectantly to what they will become. I would encourage all who believe in Christ to yes, be thankful that Christ was born into this world. But more importantly look to the current Lord Jesus Christ who grew up and is your Risen Lord, who we are told prays to the Father on our behalf. He has experienced suffering and temptation as do we, and will share with us all the mysteries of the Kingdom if we will but listen to His still small voice that whispers every day to teach us right from wrong.

For those who would seek further wisdom, I include a reference from Lectures of Faith for your consideration.

Lectures of Faith – Lecture 5 3A-3F We are Joint Heirs with Christ. [Lecture 5:3a] From the foregoing account of the Godhead, which is given in his revelations, the saints have a sure foundation laid for the exercise of faith unto life and salvation, [Lecture 5:3b] through the atonement and mediation of Jesus Christ, by whose blood they have a forgiveness of sins, and also a sure reward laid up for them in heaven – [Lecture 5:3c] even that of partaking of the fullness of the Father and the Son, through the Spirit. [Lecture 5:3d] As the Son partakes of the fullness of the Father through the Spirit, so the saints are, by the same Spirit, to be partakers of the same fullness, to enjoy the same glory; [Lecture 5:3e] for as the Father and the Son are one, so in like manner the saints are to be one in them through the love of the Father, the mediation of Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Spirit; [Lecture 5:3f] they are to be heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. May you be blessed to hear the words “Well done Good and Faithful Servant” is my prayer for all who have read this in humility, in the name of Jesus Christ I ask it. Amen.

Lost Stone From High Priest's Breastplate Believed Found

Breaking Israel News

Sometimes incredible stories are actually true, and in this case, experts agree that a small onyx stone, claimed to be given to a Knight Templar over 1,000 years ago and handed down through one family from generation to generation, is actually what the present owner claims: a gem from the breastplate of the High Priest in Jerusalem.

I am a Neurofeedback Clinician in Independence, MO and in my practice occasionally I have opportunity to trial products newer on the market. For one week only I am offering FREE 8 minute sessions of a FDA registered Class 1 Medical Device that has been effective in increasing general blood-flow throughout the body, cardiac function, physical fitness, relaxation and overall well being. It works at the cellular level and is safe, non-invasive and you typically feel nothing. If you or anyone you know is interested in more information please contact me through my website or through my Directed Minds Facebook page, text or call (816)301-7222. It is completely free, no obligation, but I will only have the device on loan until Wednesday, September 21. I have already seen some pretty amazing results. I hope you can experience some benefit from it also.

Thank you,

Nahom Discovered in the Middle East

Nahom Discovered in the Middle East

Very important information.

Nahom was not discovered until 1994. The BoM names Nahom as the place of Ishmael's burial in 1927. There were those who said the BoM was false because there was not such place and Smith made it up--BUT GOD in His timing revealed Nahom in the Middle East. Smith had no way of knowing, nor did he know about this place. BUT THE HOLY SPIRIT knew and revealed it as proof of the BoM in 1994. Isn't He just so wonderful!

Handel's Messiah 2017

From: Missouri Oratorio Society

Handel's Messiah 2017

The Independence Messiah Performance and the Missouri Oratorio Society

September 12, 2016

Hello Friends of the Missouri Oratorio Society,

It is my honor to announce that this year, Messiah at Stone Church, will be part of a new
organization, the Missouri Oratorio Society (MOS). The Board and I are excited about the creation
of an oratorio society, and that you will be a part of it.

For now, I invite you to consider joining us in singing the Messiah performance March 25, 2017. It
is a new century for this work in Independence, Missouri, and it is a new beginning for this kind of
organization in this region. Each choir member has the opportunity to sing this concert and join the
oratorio society. Such a commitment guarantees that the infancy of this organization will grow into
one of the Midwest’s superlative oratorio societies.

Let me turn to the rehearsals for Messiah 2017. Our rehearsals will be every Tuesday beginning
January 10. We will rehearse from 7 to 9pm at Stone Church in Independence (except on February
14). Leading up to the performance on Saturday, March 25, we will have one additional rehearsal on
Thursday, March 23. I feel this is more than enough time to learn notes, perfect style, and share in
community before the performance. I suspect you may have questions about this new society and
how it relates to Messiah performances in Independence. Please hear me when I say, Messiah
performances will be in partnership with the Missouri Oratorio Society.

In closing, I invite you to share with me or with Robyn Mun any comments or concerns you have
about the upcoming rehearsal schedule and March 25 performance. On behalf of the Board, we
encourage you to begin telling your friends and family about your work with Messiah in
Independence. Inquire how you can help sustain and share the joy of this music with new, as well as
familiar faces. There are different opportunities for you to donate your time, talent, and treasure. We
welcome any contribution you have to offer.
