Dale Carrick Post-Memorial Testimonial

I attended the Dale Carrick Memorial Service on Saturday, March 30th but came up short in formulating a spoken testimonial in commemorating Dale. So, for those who were there, please bear with me. I am not family in a legal sense, but I was never in Dale or Priscilla's presence when I was not made to feel as if I were family. Despite all their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, their hearts encompassed a far larger family, of which I was but one more. I can not remember Dale without remembering Priscilla (Pat) as well. In their 73 years of marriage, they became inseparable until death, which for Dale must have been an extreme ambivalence: On the one hand, a hardship beyond words to express, and yet, on the other, an inexpressible rejoicing in her new found freedom. He bore it all, as he had throughout his life, with all the grace he could muster. That said, there is a phenomenon in cosmology in binary star systems that the longer two stars orbit around each other, the more they come to resemble each other. That phenomenon surely played out on a smaller scale in that realm that Dale and Pat shared. No, Pat did not grow in height to be able to look in Dale's eyes without craning her neck, but I did observe them thinking each others thoughts. When age brought with it more memory lapses, when one would get hung up in the middle of a sentence, the other would invariably finish it. Not only were they of one heart, but also of one mind, or very close to it. But, to take the cosmological phenomenon one key step further, before Dale and Pat came together, each was already in a binary orbit with the Author of the Cosmos, Jesus Christ. So, when the Lord brought them together, He formed them into a ternary orbit, with the Son as their mutual center of gravity. And throughout their lives, they grew more and more alike as they each grew ever more in likeness of their Creator. That is their legacy to me, and surely to many others. And now, Dale and Pat are reunited again, never more to be separated. And so also it is that they are now no longer orbiting the Son, but are now One with Him and each other. Anonymous
