Rebecca Anderson Obituary

On Monday, March 14, 2022, Rebecca Anderson, devoted wife and mother of two passed away at the age of 64.

She was born January 12, 1958 in Vandalia, Illinois, to Eugene and Helen Norton. After growing up in Princeton, she went on to study abroad in France and graduated from Southern Illinois University. An avid traveler, Rebecca spent time in many European countries as well as Haiti, Belize, and Jamaica. In 1986 she married her first husband, Peter Anderson, with whom she had two children, Joshua Anderson and Katharine Anderson.

Following Peter’s death she remarried Charles De Vries in 1998. They spent 23 years together.

Rebecca enjoyed gardening, hiking, and nature. She developed a love of the Appalachian trail and had goals of hiking its entirety. She spent recent years volunteering and traveling to Jamaica with a medical-mission group. She will be remembered for her generosity and kind heart. Always willing to help, she would do anything to help her family and those she loved.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her father, Gene, mother, Helen, as well as one niece, Alice, and one nephew, David. She is survived by her husband, Charlie, her two children, Joshua (Kimberly) and Katharine, one unofficially adopted daughter, Tracy, from Jamaica, brother, Stan (Sue), loving friend, Carol (Tom), and many nieces and nephews.
